INTRODUCTION
Group #1: Ravenclaw Sixth & Seventh Years Group #2: Hufflepuff Sixth & Seventh Years Discussion: Stellar Classification
The best thing about teaching the older Years was that anyone in the class was someone who wanted to be there. By Sixth Year, you can eliminate all the students you’ve had the displeasure of teaching. The worst thing about teaching the older Years was just that – they were the older Years. They seemed to have this idea that since they’ve made it into your class, that somehow grants them the right to act standoffish and skip class because they know everything there is to learn and show up late because hey, they’ve had this professor before and familiarity is the answer to an previous animosity. Aurora’s students usually picked up fairly quickly that this was not the case in her classroom. If she allowed for a student to enter into her classroom then they had better prove to her that they deserved to be there. All it took was one quick trip to the Headmaster and she could have a student removed. That wouldn’t look very good come the end of the term, when they haven’t fulfilled all of their class requirements to proceed to the next year. Aurora hardly ever joked. Those wise enough knew that. So, she could hardly say she was surprised when she finished the climb to the second highest level to the Astronomy tower; the highest being the one directly above bearing the observation deck. If they were fortunate enough, they might make it up there tonight. “Good evening, class,” Aurora said routinely, walking toward the designated “front” of the circular room. Let the learning of the Thy Mightier Than Thou class begin.

Astronomy was....interesting. Justin couldn't sum up a better definition or more endearing one than that, because he wasn't particularly taken to the subject. However he liked to have one class every year that he didn't have to work as hard at as the others. Don't worry, he would keep that to himself. Every professor liked to think that their subject was the most driven and knowledge-filled subject there ever was. Actually, Justin didn't understand what the point was of learning about ancient Greek Gods and why constellations were named what they were, blah etc, etc. There was a silver lining though - the stars were very useful in present day if one was lost, and they were able to learn about space and many other things that were fact based, not just fantasy. Dinvination on the other hand was a killer of a class that he was glad to be rid of. Justin walked up the steps of the Astronomy tower with books in hand, already tired from being the "new guy" the entire day. Now he had an evening class where people stared and marveled at the American. He felt a bit like he was in a circus and he happened to be the main attraction. Fortunately the new guy novelty always wore off quickly and pretty soon he would have to be making efforts to continue getting notice. Walking into the room, he took a seat in the front, opting to be pegged as the devoted Ravenclaw student eager to learn rather than the casual one that he really was. When the Professor walked in Justin had a hard time not thinking that she ought to take a look in the mirror every once in awhile. Good evening, class, Justin smiled and repeated "Good evening, Professor." Last class before he could go back to the common room. He just had to remember that.

we don't need no education See, a class like Astronomy was right up Rita's alley, believe it or not. She'd always been a huge fan of horoscopes and okay, okay, she knew that that wasn't exactly the same thing but whatever. If you knew where all the stars were, you could make predictions and all that and yeah, that was more of a Divination thing and probably hocus pocus too but again, whatever. Rita didn't exactly have a clue what she planned on doing once she graduated from Hogwarts other than "become famous". Somehow. Oh, she wasn't worried, though - no, not at all. She was more than confident in her goal, it was just a matter of figuring out how to achieve it. And then achieving it. She liked setting goals for herself, mapping out a checklist she could tick off as she went. But as of right now, she didn't really have any specific tasks on that checklist. Other than "become famous". And stupidly enough, when she'd proudly announced that to Professor Flitwick when they'd had their little sit-downs to discuss NEWT courses and future plans, he'd seemed rather... well, he hadn't seemed nearly as appreciative as he should have been. Hello, she'd only had this goal for as long as she could remember! Every single thing that she did - well, okay, all the important things, because really, those were what mattered - she did with this goal in mind. It was going to happen, she knew that. And then she'd prove Flitwick wrong. Stupid skeptical old geezer, suggesting that if she "was unsure of her future career path" - um, excuse me, she'd just told him she was going to be famous, wasn't he listening? Although honestly, she wouldn't have been surprised if he really was deaf, that would have made sense - she should take a course load that appealed to a variety of interests. And apply herself more in her NEWT years because they really mattered and blah blah blah, everyone knew that, duh. Besides, it wasn't as if Rita couldn't apply herself when she wanted to. Yes, she had the habit of acting like a complete ditz but come on, she was still a Ravenclaw! So yes, she'd managed to get by alright in Astronomy last year.
Even if Sinistra was one scary bitch.
Sheesh.
Yeah, Rita definitely got the impression that she wasn't exactly the professor's favorite student. Perhaps it could have had something to do with all the - apparently - useless and ridiculous questions she asked; or perhaps it could have had something to do with the essay she'd turned in last year on how the different phases of the moon cycle affected one's luck - some bullshit she'd learned in Trelawney's class, honestly, she was always getting the two classes confused; they did both talk about planets and all that, after all, come on! So yes, Rita probably wasn't the professor's favorite student. But she kept her grades up as best as she could and she tried - well, sometimes, maybe not always, but come on, who always tried? That was just... tiring. And it sounded boring too - and she came to class with a smile on her pretty, little face. Shouldn't she have gotten brownie points for that? Just in case, she was sporting a little grin - despite having just had to climb all those ridiculous stairs - as she bounced into the classroom. Now normally, Rita preferred to sit near the back, away from Scary-Bitch's immediate line of vision. But ooh la la, she could certainly make other arrangements when Mr. New & Handsome had seated himself up there. Sauntering up to the Hufflepuff sitting beside him, Rita pasted on her sweetest smile. No, she didn't remember this girl's name but she recognized her from a few classes and remembered that she was rather quiet and didn't like to make a fuss. "Mind if I steal your spot?" she asked, tilting her head to the side and widening her oh-so-sweet smile. "I find I can like only concentrate on what she's saying when I'm sitting here, like the vision, hearing, all that..." She trailed off with a little shrug. No, she wasn't really making sense but little Miss Epitome-of-a-Hufflepuff-Pushover didn't seem like she was about to point that out as she managed a small smile and a "Sure," and grabbed her stuff, moving to the desk one over. Per-fect. Flashing a smile at Attractive-New-Kid - Justin, she reminded herself, that was his name, Justin Whiting, and it had already been deduced that he was from somewhere in the US, American accent and all - Rita took her stolen spot, smoothing her robes underneath her and crossing her legs daintily. She echoed back "Good evening, Professor," along with the other students as if she really cared, and then turned her attention to what she'd already decided was far more interesting than whatever stupid lesson Scary-Bitch had planned for them today. Or rather, who. Or maybe whom. Who knew. (Whom knew? No, nevermind that.) Wiggling her fingers in a little wave at Justin, she raised her eyebrows and flashed her signature grin. And then, of course-
She winked.
OOC: ahaha couldn't help myself (;

Bella didn’t particularly like Astronomy, but she was decent enough in the studies. She could hardly think about the book sitting in front of her, though, much too distracted by the way the faint light from outside hit against the windowsill. She’d been up in this tower quite a few times – numerous times, even – now being in her Seventh Year. The most dominate memory she held was when Remus had asked her, after hours, to meet him here. Bella glanced down at her wrist, flipping her palm to face upward and listening to the quiet jingle of her bracelet. She smiled, but her recall of the fantasy-like evening came to a crashing halt when a boy set his things down on the opposite side of the table. He didn’t look very interested in her presence; he looked like he was trying to stay invisible. I can relate. Bella offered up a half-grin anyway and then turned her attention to the front of the room. No sooner had she found her mindset for learning, Bella was interrupted by – fabulous, she thought, Rita. Did Bella really want to move? No, not really. Did she care about sharing a desk with the boy beside her? No, not really. Did she like Rita Skeeter all that much? No, not really. But Bella wasn’t up to play games with the Ravenclaw tonight, opting to pick up her things and mutter a quick “Sure” out of politeness. With the classroom finally filling up, and seats being saved for late comers, Bella merely took the table one over and resettled herself in the new seat. It startled her slightly as the professor swooped by. Instantly Bella was sitting straighter in her chair. “Good evening, Professor,” she recited. Though, a night with Sinistra was always questionably “good.”

those schoolgirl days of telling tales and biting nails are gone Last class of the day, Mia told herself as she climbed to the top of the Astronomy tower, her book bag slung over her shoulder, her books and quill already in hand, it was just easier that way. She didn't love Astronomy, as in, it wasn't her favorite class by far - and the teacher was kind of creepy as hell, but she didn't dislike it either. Honestly, the whole thing about constellations and stuff was way interesting. She also found it ridiculously amusing that most of the Black family was named after some constellation or another. Well, in theory Greek mythology, which was where the stars and constellation names came from, but that wasn't the point.
Sighing, Mia entered the class to find it almost empty, as usual, she was one of the first ones there in theory, since she hated being late to class, ever, because you got docked house points for something as stupid as not being where you had to be whenever you had to be. Really, it wasn't so hard to leave one class and go to another in five minutes. Unless the classes were on opposite ends of the school, which, thankfully, wasn't the case at the moment. Scanning the heads already there, Mia suddenly spotted the familiar brunette matt of hair that belonged to her boyfriend, and her heart did a little leap. Grinning, she had to concentrate not to skip over there, when out of nowhere Rita Skeeter sat next to him.
Mia stopped in her tracks, glaring at the blonde head that had suddenly winked at Justin. Oh no she didn't. First Ted, now Justin? No freaking way. Clenching her jaw, Mia stomped over there and swivelled around to face Justin, then planted a kiss on his lips, smiling. "Hello," she greeted him brightly, then tapped Rita on the shoulder, feigning a sweet smile. "I'm sorry, that's my seat."

Trey Jackson didn't have a problem with Astronomy. It was a class he found interesting, it wasn't his favorite subject, but he loved looking into the night sky and studying the stars. It was another one of his hobbies that got him in his mood. It was his way of accepting everything for what it was and relaxing. He didn't know what would happen in the class that night, but he wasn't too worried about it. Studying out of his textbook would be just fine with him. He kind of felt like taking a slow night. When he was done with this class he could go to the Ravenclaw common room and sit in his favorite chair to study a bit longer before going to bed. He'd like that, and as he climbed the stairs to his classroom, he smiled. It'd be nice to be himself for once, it had been a long time since he had felt comfortable with who he was. Not since the summer. Since Marielle. Trey pushed the thought out of his mind. Picking an empty desk away from his classmates, he sat his stuff down at smiled at his Professor, "Good evening." He murmured charmingly before sitting down in his seat.
It was weird that he could sense such things, but he smiled to himself as he heard his best friend enter the room. He turned around to look at her. But no, that's right, she'd be with Justin, not him. Trey turned back around to the front and sighed. Didn't she know he had made a mistake? Luckily for Trey he didn't see the kiss. However, he heard it, and he could put two and two together. Please, could the class just start?

Sure, he was the knew kid but Justin still didn't understand why every person who walked in that door wanted to sit by him. Did you honestly expect him to believe that all the upper years recognized the face of every person in the school? It seemed unlikely, and he hadn't done anything except sit at the table with his arms crossed since he'd walked into the classroom. The nice-looking chick sitting next to him was asked to move, and she did. He had no idea she was a friend of Noah's, he could assure you. If he had, he would have protested profusely about her removal. A blonde Ravenclaw sat beside him, and her excuse made him smirk. She could only focus on what the professor was saying from that very seat. No other seat would do. Such a terrible excuse to get next to a guy, but very forward. At her wink, Justin realized she fully expected a response. He gave her a little wave and then turned his head away from her, scooting in his chair so he didn't have to look. Oh she was pretty alright, but he was a one-woman guy and he already had a girlfriend. He'd heard of Rita Skeeter, the girl who had already whored his name out in her little magazine, but beyond that, he clearly knew nothing since he wasn't even aware that this was her. Speaking of, his girlfriend arrived right on top and Justin found himself raising his eyebrows again. Could you really blame him for accepting Mia's kiss with a passionate reply? Not really, he was making a statement. That and, it was very nice to see her face after a long day of people he'd never heard of. I'm sorry, that's my seat." Haha oh god, this professor was going to hate him and she didn't even know his name yet. Justin played the confused, third-person role in all of this, allowing the girls to duke it out. There were no two seats next to each other in the rest of the room now - it was almost full. "Do you mind?" He asked, finally looking at Rita for the first time with full disinterest. He repeated similar words that Rita and spoken to Isabella Swan a few seconds ago. "I need to sit next to her. She helps me with my.....notes."

do you come here much? i swear i seen your face before
Misa loved Astronomy.
She walked quickly through the halls, a little later than usual. Izzy was with her; thank god they were taking the class together. Misa always focused better when Izzy was with her. She didn't know why, but she just did. She was talking about Johnny again. Not that Jamison minded; she loved Johnny, and was just as concerned about his health and well-being as Izzy was. The break-up he'd suffered through was absolute bullshit, in Misa's opinion. She couldn't see how or why anyone would break-up with Johnny. He was too....Well, he was Johnny. It kind of spoke for itself. They ascended the ladder together, and when they finally reached the classroom, a large handful of students were already seated. Choosing not to get tangled in the mess that was quickly forming in the front of the room, Jamison pulled Izzy over to the other corner, sitting next to a boy, probably a sixth year, just like them."Good evening, Professor," she replied dully, not fully paying attention. Jamison set her stuff up, rummaging in her bag for a quill while she listened to Izzy keep talking. Damn. Her other quills were in her trunk back in the dorms. She sat up, looking over to the boy next to her, smiling. "It's Trey, isn't it?" She asked, smiling and leaning a little closer to him. " Can I borrow a---hey, you have really pretty eyes," Misa said, smiling and pressing on, "Do you have a quill I could borrow?"
She smiled sweetly.
He was cute.

It was a generally accepted fact that Isadora Ackerman did not let things go. She could hold a grudge longer than anyone she knew. It wasn't the best trait to have, sure, but it wasn't like she meant it, neither did she mean to be annoying or whatever. It was just one of her many, many quirks. And when it pertained to one of her closest friends, of course Isadora would have a difficulty letting it go. Which was exactly why she was venting to her best friend, Jams, about how annoying the whole Johnny-and-Lucas situation was. It was especially nice that Jams was on her side about this. Rather than telling her she was overreacting, Jams seemed to agree in her desblief over anyone breaking up with John-John. Because, seriously, you would have to be absolutely mad to break up with John-John. Plus, she seemed to be on board with the whole Lucas-is-a-douchebag-who's-arse-should-get-fried-for-what-he-did-to-Johnny. Okay, maybe not so much the arse-getting-fried bit, but whatever. She at least seemed to agree that Lucas totally didn't deserve Johnny and that Johnny shouldn't be so heartbroken, so there! See, she'd known there was a very good reason they were best friends - they were both on the same wavelength. Well, okay, no, that was a bit of a stretch. Jams was a whole lot more normal than Isadora would ever be. But oh well. It still counted, right? And hey, Jams was a pretty good listener, which was why Dora kept up the mini-rant up until they were actually in the classroom, although she lowered her voice a little. She didn't want Professor Sinistra to give her a detention. She started taking out her own things, still talking, when she noticed that Jams had turned her attention on someone else. Curiously, she peered around her and almost fell over. No, Jams was not talking - flirting! did she just say he had pretty eyes? She was flirting! - with Tranny Jackingoff. Wait, wait, that wasn't his name. Uhhhhhh...damn it, Sammy, she knew his n- Trey. There. Trey Jackson. Okay, so maybe her opinion of him was biased - up until Sam had talked to her about him, she'd known him as the Ravenclaw kid who studied too much (oh ironic, most Ravenclaws studied too much, but still) and who hadn't really been on her radar. Oh sure, he was pretty - pretty eyes, pshhht Jams come onnnn - but honestly she'd always viewed him as rather...boring. Of course, she could be wrong. But he hadn't exactly given her reason to strike up a conversation with him. Besides, now thanks to Sam she could only thinkin of him as Tranny Jackingoff and imagine trying to talk to someone whom you called that in your head? Isadora was controlling her laughter with difficulty right now because Jams was talking to Tranny Jack-
Okay, God, she was horrible. She was a horrible, horrible person.
Because she was laughing. With a hand over her mouth to muffle it, but she was still laughing.
Damnit, she was going to kill Chicken Leg for fixing that nickname in her head.
OOC: I'M SORRY KERRY I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER ISADORA AND I ACTUALLY REALLY LOVE TREY AND THINK HE'S AWESOME. ....WE BOTH BLAME SAM RAISZ. -COUGHS-

It was going to be a long night. Even Trey had to accept that. With Mia behind him flaunting over her Justin, Trey wouldn't stand a chance at concentrating this class period. It killed him too much. And it wasn't like he hadn't seen them before together, he had had a handful of classes before this, and then all the meals they had together. Trey was being tortured. He didn't even find it amusing that all the girls were flaunting over Justin in the back, it annoyed him. Not that he wanted that attention but that Mia was in the middle of it. He didn't think of her as that girl, they were just the best of friends that didn't get into pointless drama like that. Trey looked over at the girl who had just plopped down beside him. "Well hi there. Yeah it is. And you're.. Jamison?" Trey didn't mind the person to talk to. It felt nice to be addressed once in awhile instead of ignoring him like someone was doing behind him. He quickly turned to look at Mia, hoping to catch her eye. When he did he smiled at her. Turning back to Jamison, he laughed and shook his head at her compliment. He mumbled a thanks, and handed her his quill. "I don't have an extra but we can share.". He was in love with Mia, he wasn't about to go head over heals for another girl. Not after Marielle. But he thought it might be interesting to add, "You have really pretty hair."

we don't need no thought control Rita was just re-crossing her legs expertly when some girl swooped out of nowhere to kiss Justin. Obviously a girlfriend. Well, ooh la la, wasn't that- Wait, Amelia Bones? Her eyebrows flew up slightly and she pursed her lips. Amelia Bones was dating Hot-New-Guy? Barely managing to conceal a disgusted snort, Rita turned back in her seat and- Someone tapped her on the shoulder. Amelia tapped her on the shoulder. And oh look! She was smiling. Rita Skeeter narrowed her eyes slightly, matching her smile. So obviously fake. Sorry, hun, she thought snidely. Rita Skeeter invented that faux-sweet smile you seem to have inexpertly applied. Ugh. Some people were just plain annoying to deal with and Miss Bones had already gotten herself put on that list with only one word. Of course, her next words didn't help much either. Rita arched an eyebrow, hardly believing this. Seriously? Little Miss Bones was actually asking her to move? And boyfriend was backing her up? Oh, puh-leese. Ugh. Resisting to urge to roll her eyes at the both of them, she nodded as if his explanation made total sense. Her smile turning into more of a smug little smirk, she stood up and brushed off her robes. She gathered the few items she'd got out and stuffed them back into her pink little book bag. "Of course!" she chirped, smile bright as ever for Amelia. "Silly me, of course you'd want to sit beside your boyfriend." With a light little laugh, she started to brush by the other girl, and then paused, a wicked glint in her eyes. Oh, she really couldn't help herself sometimes. Now being one of them "We both know you've got great taste in boyfriends." She raised her eyebrows meaningfully, even if Ted was the last thing she wanted to be thinking about right now. Ignoring that, she forced a little giggle and turned back to wink at Justin again. Let Amelia think that Justin would be her new target. Whatever would rile the girl up. Taking the seat behind Justin just before anyone else could steal it away, Rita kept a little grin on her face as she dropped her book bag to the floor and pulled out her quill. Arranging it perfectly on her desk, she lifted her head to shoot a little grin towards Amelia. This whole "she couldn't help herself sometimes"? Yeah, it was definitely kicking in. After a summer of "good karma", oh did it ever feel nice to get back to Hogwarts where oppurtunities to be such a bitch were so wonderfully abundant. Leaning forward over her desk, she tapped Justin's shoulder twice before leaning in to whisper in his ear, one hand cupped expertly as if she was passing on the most delicious secret. "I'm sure we'll have lots of other classes together where I can get to know you better, Mr. Tall-dark-and-handsome," she tease-whispered, eyes flitting back to Amelia as her lips curled mischeviously. With a little giggle, she pulled back, straightening up in her seat with a satisfied expression on her face. Yeah. Sometimes she really couldn't help herself.
And boy did it feel good.
