It was no secret that Professor Babbling felt more comfortable teaching the older years. While they might seem harder to control, the classes were often smaller, and the students who were still in the class actually wanted to be here. Well, most of them. But after the OWL years was over, you found that you had wheedled out most of the discouraged students, or those that had struggled throughout the year, and you were left with those who truly had the gift of knowledge. Not only that, but this lesson in particular were namely Ravenclaws - while it might be stereotypical to say that most Slytherins were not intelligent enough to comprehend such a complicated subject, it still held true in most cases. And if Professor Babbling were to have a group of people she favored, it would be those hard-working Ravenclaws - although, no matter how much wisdom or intelligence they had, it didn't mean they could excel in this course. Ancient Runes required concentration, focus and deep understanding. It was definitely not a class you could breeze through, cram for at the end, and then expect to pass with an O - or even an E. If you even passed. Pushing her red hair behind her ears, Professor Babbling stared at the class sternly, leaning against the desk with her fingertips. "I assume you have all bought the newest edition of Advanced Rune Translation. I would like you to please turn to page forty-five so that we can begin." Pause. "Now," she added firmly, moving towards the black board and raising her wand and gracefully swishing it, words in her loopy handwriting appearing on the board in time with her movements.
There would be no lolly-gagging during her lesson.
