ABOUT THE CHARACTER Name: Jinxter Olivia McClarence Age: Fourteen years old (DOB: January 7) Gender: Femme Year: Fourth Celebrity: Alexis Bledel
Canon or Original? Original
Facial Properties: Jinx has deep blue eyes that glint when angry and can bore straight into you if you find her in one of her rare moods. Her hair is a deep brown and it’s almost always worn loose around her shoulders. She has a stubborn chin and heart-shaped lips that are pursed when she’s in a foul mood. Her eyebrows are arched and she has a wide forehead. Jinx remembers her mother mentioning something about those having a wide forehead…something about having more wisdom? Her smile is wide and honest, trust-inspiring, to a certain degree, of course.
Physique: Her manner is always cool and collected. When she is happy though, she does tend to show it in her best manner. Jinx doesn’t have anything against public displays of affection as a matter of fact. Around people she doesn’t know, her face never betrays a single thing. Her voice reflects this, suave and crystal clear diction; she never slurs her words together. Even though she was born in Edinburgh, she doesn’t have that much of an accent, since her family has always travelled all over the world and they didn’t stay in a place long enough for her to acquire one.
You can next to never see Jinxter McClarence in her robes. She’s not very fond of Wizard clothing, having grown up surrounded by Muggles, she grew accustomed to having to hide her identity, and robes are something she rarely used, and were suddenly imposed on her when she received her Hogwarts’ Acceptance letter. On the rare occasions that she does wear them, it’s because she has actually been threatened to some kind of consequence if she doesn’t. She prefers cheerful colors on her clothing, more often than not, brightening up her mood. Besides, she believes robes make her look stumpier, considering how short she is. And even being as "slender" as she, a robe is not the most becoming garment one could wear.
She weighs around 120 lbs and is 5’4” in height. Slender. But don’t let her sweet appearance befuddle you. She’s no damsel in distress. She has small hands, unadorned with any kind of jewelry, as she doesn’t like attracting attention to herself. Bangs are a constant source of irritation for her and she keeps trying to get the strands away from her forehead, usually not succeeding. Her skin is pale by nature, but Jinx is often fighting against it by staying as much time as possible in the sun, trying to acquire a tan, or some colour. It’s the only thing about herself she doesn’t accept completely. The only result she has acquired out of it, is finding herself covered in freckles from time to time.

“I don’t like being called chipper. It just reminds me of animals, or something. But yes, I do happen to be a very happy person.”
Happy, Jinxter could never be anything other than a sunny person all around. No, it’s not because she believes is rosy colored, but mainly because she’s never understood anger or hate. No, wait, she does understand them. What she doesn’t understand is the love of people in keeping those sentiments around. There’s no use for them, except perhaps when you’re in need to call upon your reflexes. It sharpens them, therefore allowing you to react faster, but all in all, it doesn’t mean much to her. Sure, she experiments her downs as well (after all, nothing’s perfect), but they never last long. It is easy to make a person like Jinx happy. All you have to do is brighten up her day with a sincere smile, or an opportune joke. Even if it is not that convincing, she’ll give you credit for trying, and will acknowledge it by lifting her mood just a bit. She doesn’t believe in keeping grudges for long, seeing as how they only clutter her mind with senseless anger, and therefore, she doesn’t let many things affect her deeply. You just have to take things lightly.
“If you cried or hated for every single insult that’s thrown your way, humanity would’ve killed itself already. So grow up. And suck it up.”
Resilient, She knows how to handle things. And not just responsibilities. Jinx has the ability to bounce right back up after taking a hard fall. She doesn’t believe in wallowing in self-pity. Nor in dwelling on the past. You broke up with her? Fine, things always happen for a reason. No, she won’t try to pretend everything’s alright. Whoever talked about pretending? Everything is alright. Some things aren’t worth crying over. We’re talking about issues here. Whether they are petty or hardcore hatred, she couldn’t really cower before them. Her upbringing would just contradict all of it if she did. She was taught to take things as they are, face them front on, and deal with the consequences. You won’t see her starting up fights or duels much, but if you do see her in one of them, it’s because hon, it couldn’t be helped. There are some sacred things to her, and if you touch those, oh, you better be prepared to deal with the consequences. She can easily ignore some snide remarks thrown in her direction. She can even be the bigger person and walk away from your taunts. Just.don’t.touch.her.family. Or friends, in any case.
“I don’t have a problem with expressing my feelings. I’m comfortable in my own skin, so why hide? You have to show your feelings. You never know if the object of your affections will be there tomorrow.”
Affectionate, Hugs, kisses, tussles, holding hands…you name it. That’s how Jinx works. She doesn’t take things for granted, never does, and she’s shameless on being open and honest about her affection. She believes that whatever you believe will be there eternally could be taken away from you in less than the blink of an eye. So take advantage of it. Cuddle. Kiss. Whatever. Just do it.
“I have my priorities straight. Don’t you ever doubt that.”
Responsibilities, Yes, Jinx cares about school. Just not…enough. See, she thinks that life can be categorized into priorities, and if you make it into the top four (which happen to go like this: friends, family, Quidditch, love-life) she can be a very diligent little hard-worker. Jinx can be the epitome of responsibility if she cares enough of the subject. School? Just not that important. Don’t get her wrong, she enjoys Hogwarts very much. After living around Muggles for so long, it is a refreshing change. But still, don’t torture with it. She’s just a teenager.
“I don’t believe in shyness. Deal with that.”
Social, You must always speak your mind around Jinx. She doesn’t believe in first impressions, therefore, you must keep up a steady flow of yourself around her, so she can grasp what you’re like. No, she doesn’t particularly care if you’re rich, or if you’re poor. Or if you’re “pure” or not. Considering she really can’t tell the difference, there’s no risk of her ever discriminating you. She’s too open-minded to begin to select her acquaintances, or hand pick her partners in crime. Even if you have no idea who she is, where she comes from, what she stands for, she’s always available for an easy chat. She doesn’t judge too easily, and she respects the individual beliefs, her own not being mined by the public opinion on the way. She’s strong, and knows what to stand up for her. She hates being unjust, even if she’s been on several occasions, when her friends must always come first. That’s just the way it is.
“I’m no leader. I just like to be in control. Is there something wrong with that?”
Controlling, This is one of the characteristics Jinxter doesn’t like about herself. She has come face to face with the person she can become when things don’t go her way, and she doesn’t like it. It’s in her to take the reins of things. Some look up to her as a leader, but inside her head, she is anything but. She likes things to be just so, though, which can turn into this mania that will fully develop if you stand in her way of getting things done. Sometimes, when she’s in the middle of something, almost in frenzy, she crosses that fine line between being a leader and turning into a controlling hag. She snaps and curses, her usually clean vocabulary turns into one that would make a Death Eater blush, and her non-existent temper flares into life. She’ll forget you for a moment if you dare cross her path, even if you’re her friend. If you’re not with her, then you’re against her. At least in this aspect. Which really, does bring us to her next characteristic.
“I don’t have anything against losing. It’s just…not an option.”
Competitive, When Jinx puts her passion into things, she expects to be rewarded. Fully. And losing has never been an option for her, in her life. Losing means giving up, and by Merlin, this girl can be tough to ground. If she believes in something, then she’ll go for it. Therefore, Jinxter is a girl who was a great deal of faith in herself. After all, that’s the only one she can rely on to take her through. She’ll do her best, and she’ll compete fiercely. She does not believe in second best. That’s society’s pretty name for losers. And well, love, you’re not supposed to insult her so badly, see. This trait of hers comes hand in hand with her controlling issues. The turnabout’s supposed to be as she so desires. She must have a hand in everything. There’s no other way to do it. Really.
“Yes, I like to express my opinion. People should know you for who you are, not for who you pretend to be.”
Direct, If she doesn’t like you, there’s no way Jinx will keep quiet. It all comes with the deal. As she can be expressive, and emotive, she can fall under the harsh category when it comes to dealing with truths around. She won’t hesitate to give you her opinion. First, because she doesn’t believe in trying to make a good impression. No faking around. What you see is what you get. And the things that come out of her mouth are what make up her mind. She never lies. Appreciate it.
“What else do you want to know? That’s all, folks.”

History: Born in, Edinburgh
Live where, You name it. She’s been everywhere.
Adopted Family, Ernest McClarence [42] Maria Saunders [40]
Real Family, Erick Hitch Olivia Melbourne
Childhood, Spent at home, almost always. She was home-schooled since her first three years of age, and then was sent to a normal primary school. Jinx is capable of a fast-rate adaptation, considering she never got to stay in the same place for long. She never did know the reason, though, and her parents never offered anything up for her. As a child, she was supposed to accept every single decision mutely, because, after all, her parents were always looking for what was best for her. So who was she to question them? And it wasn’t as if they stayed in the same place long enough for her to be able to make some real roots and settle down. So it never hurt her that much. And she did as she was supposed to do. And quietly, the McClarences went from place to place, giving her only daughter no reasoning behind their actions, no place to settle down.
First Signs Of Magic, Wizards growing up around Muggles has proved to be dangerous time after time. And when Jinxter started showing her first signs of magic, once again, said statement was confirmed. Strongly. Because you see, Jinxter was always a tranquil child, not really the kind to hold on to some whims, but when she throws a tantrum, she knows how to do it well. They had settled on the States. Or so it seemed. They had two years living there, more time than they had spent on any other place living, so it was only natural for Jinxter to make friends. Real friends. The kind you cry over leaving only for three weeks. The kind you rush into calls because this or that happened during your day. And Olivia was happy.
But apparently, the States weren’t enough for Ernest McClarence, who, one day, decided to drop on Jinxter the most recent bomb: they were moving again. He didn’t choose a particularly good time, since Jinxter had a friend staying overnight, and as soon as she heard the news, Jinxter raced up the stairs, her feet sizzling the wooden steps on her way up. She didn’t even notice that she was, indeed, starting a fire in her own house. She slammed her bedroom door and proceeded to ignore everything else with her friend Elisa. But the smoke reached their door not much later, and well, everything went predictably downhill from there.
Needless to say, the McClarences did end up moving. But this time, they didn’t leave without Jinxter putting up a fight. She needed to know what was going on. Why did it seem they were always on the run?
It was time for Ernest McClarence talk with her only daughter.
Witch, It was a long day, that one. And a heck of a talk. To find out you’re adopted, a witch, and supposed to be attending a magical school all in one day was not good for a girl who was barely ten years old. Jinxter, not knowing how to react, but still, not doubting her father’s words at all, holed up in her room for a whole month. She came out only when necessary, barely speaking a word to anyone, and giving up on school altogether. What was the use, after all? She forced herself to cope, and reason with her own psyche. What was the point in moping around, when there was something else to live for? But for her to reach that conclusion, months had to pass.
When she finally emerged, there was a new resolution to her. She would find out as much as she could from this so called magical school, no matter what. An alternate universe had suddenly been presented to her, and she refused to waste that option. Who wouldn’t love to have such opportunity? Never would she let such thing happen. So she became a voracious reader, trying, by all means, to contact the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Not once did she receive answer. Not losing hope, she continued reading those books she had discarded as profane just last year. Those she had found in one of her adopted mother’s ancient trunks in the attic. When Maria found her daughter reading one of the books she had strived so hard to keep her from reading, everything came tumbling down. Jinxter’s not really sure what happened, but one year later, her so-called mother was never to be seen again by her. But she didn’t have enough time to register it all. For finally, what she had been waiting arrived.
Her Hogwarts’ Acceptance Letter.
