Canon or Original? Canon
Facial Properties:
boys may like blondes, but men prefer brunettes Amelia Bones was born with a patch of black hair, like most babies. It fell off pretty quickly, however, and was replaced by mahogany curls, instead. Ever since she was old enough to walk, at least, Amelia’s hair had been kept carefully brushed and washed and adorned, wherever she went. If it was ever cut, it was only the tips so that it would grow longer, as her mother preferred it. When she was only six years old, Amelia’s hair reached her shoulders and was nearly always perfectly tied back either with a half ponytail or hairclips or a headband. A single hair should never be astray in her mother’s world, and so she kept it that way. She acquired its soft, silky manner from her mother, whose red hair was always shiny and properly fixed on her head. Even when she grew up, and some reddish hues began to appear on her hair, Amelia always liked to keep it long. Not past the waist, reach your butt-long, but a little below her shoulders, and almost never tied it fully up (a factor in why she never wanted to do any sports or outside activities).
I don’t wanna close my eyes, I don’t wanna fall asleep It has always been a mystery to the Bones how Amelia was ever born with navy blue eyes, Clarisse having hazel eyes and Adam having grey ones. However, once they got over trying to figure out the reason, they had to admit that Amelia’s were one of the most gorgeous eyes they had ever witnessed on a human being. Dark blue with a seductive, mysterious look to them, they were at first glance entrancing and captivating. They, along with her hair, are Amelia’s favorite features of herself, which is something considering she doesn’t think she’s particularly beautiful.
it sounds so sweet, coming from the lips of an angel Full, pink lips were always a part of Amelia. That, and her slightly too big-teeth made up her mouth, a very average-looking part of her face, and one that never stood out in the shade of her stunning eyes. However, her lips tend to dry-up extremely quickly and easily, and it only takes less than 50° before they turn all wrinkly and blue. This is the reason why she always keeps a lip balm in her robes pocket, or her jeans, every day at every moment, after extreme persuasion from her mother, to whom her daughter’s physical perfection is a must. How they taste, or feel, however, is for her boyfriend to find out, only, if ever.
what you wanted was always under your nose As insignificant as the shape of a nose may seem, it is a proven fact that the nose is one of the main factors in what a person’s face looks like. Amelia has always thought that the upper part of her nose was alright, but that her nostrils were way too wide for her face. In fact, they are slightly wide, but nothing exceptionally noticeable or eye-offending. Actually, her nose fits her eyes and face pretty well, and has a good profile look, too. It is not exactly pointy, but not crooked by any means. To the unbiased eye, her nose is really kind of cute.
may I whisper in your ear, from my heart so you’ll clearly hear Her ears must be the worst part of her head, to Amelia, the main reason why she, at the age of fifteen, usually wears her hair down, slightly over her face, covering them. “They are just so big! It’s embarrassing!”, which may be kind of true, but again, she’s not, as muggles would put it, Dumbo, so there’s nothing to be upset over. Besides, if, however, the nose defined what a face looked like, ears were minor factors in the final outcome. One would definitely meet Amelia, go up and think, ‘Wow, she’s got big ears’. There are more interesting things to look at in her face than her ears. Maybe if somebody did a study of her would they realize that they are slightly larger than the average proportion, but then again, who does that?
I don’t want another pretty face, I don’t want just anyone to hold The rest of Amelia’s face is mostly average. Long, defined, very black lashes that make her eyes stand out even more than they already would have without them, and she has thin, dark brown eyebrows, defining them nicely. Her face is thin and kind of pointed at the chin, which she usually keeps held high. She has no freckles, and is very, very pale; no moles either, but definitely some pimples at one time or another, like any normal teenager. She applies however, to cover them when they decide to peek in at how her skin is doing, Madam Fonsee’s Anti-Acne Multi-Purpose Cream. What the multi-purposes were, she never understood, but it was efficient and cheap, and one of her favorites. When it was clear of said outbursts, however, her skin was quite smooth and nice.
Physique:
I’m standing tall, I’ve been through it all Born to quite a tall father and an averagely tall mother, as well, Amelia was always, funnily enough, tall. Never abnormally so, or taller than the boys in her grade, but definitely in the top ten tallest girls of her age. Her height has never been a cause of discomfort to her, nor did she ever see it as an added bonus. Almost indifferent to it, really, Amelia never cared if she could see above people’s heads, or if she was missing out on the guy having to lean down to kiss her. Standing at 5’8, Amelia doesn’t particularly like wearing high heels to parties, because with them on, she would probably tower over the rest of her friends. However, she does wear shoes with some, but not much, heels on them.
don’t be alarmed if I fall head over feet Even though Amelia is tall, her feet are not larger than the average foot of a fifteen year old girl. Nearly always, they are kept in comfortable sneakers or Mary-Jane’s during the schoolday, as the official Hogwarts uniform demands, and in the winter she sometimes likes to wear comfy boots that go either halfway to her knee or only a little above her ankle. Her toenails are always kept trimmed, like her fingernails, and with a single coat of transparent nail polish, an impermeable kind that she got at Diagon Alley last summer.
dance with me, I wanna rock your body Amelia has and is pretty skinny, and at a good balance with her nutrition. She has never been an avid sweet lover, and therefore that helps her keep her shape, however, breakfasts are deadly for her, as the number one bread fan at Hogwarts, Amelia has to watch how many she eats every morning. She has an averagely-sized chest; not too full yet not underdeveloped, and truthfully, she is happy with it, unlike most of the teenage girls around. Her hands are very small, and delicate, and she always keeps her fingernails short, because taking care of long nails is way too much of a hassle for her. Also, her butt is pretty small, but not exactly flat, and again, Amelia is not self-conscious about it or any particular part of her body beneath her neck.
underneath your clothes, there’s an endless story Because of her eye color, Amelia’s preferred wardrobe consists of blue tones. Navy, aquamarine, light blue, turquoise, they all suit her fine and make her eyes really stand out, which is what she goes for in the first place. However, she always likes to dress in somewhat darker colors, such as scarlet, gray, or deep purple. Very rarely will you see her wearing yellow or pink, unless it’s for a specific reason or occasion. Her being in Ravenclaw, however, was a major bonus for her, as the uniform colors are, indeed, gray and navy blue; it was as if she had been born to be in that house. Amelia doesn’t have any piercings, anywhere, not even on her ears, and had never really thought about getting some. Not because she doesn’t like how earrings look, because she does, but just because she can’t be bothered to acquire them. Wand Type: rosewood, 9”, phoenix feather, flexible Wand Expertise: best for transfiguration Patronus: an owl Boggart: an enormous snake Personality: BOOKWORM Ever since Amelia was very little, her parents always read to her, and since she was very little, she has always loved books. Novels, documentaries, historical recordings, picture books, biographies; they’re all wonderful to her. It has been a very frequent happening that the entire school would be outside watching a Quidditch game or doing other activities and Amelia will prefer to stay inside, cuddle up in her bed, and just read. When Amelia reads, she lives the book. She feels what the character is feeling, sees what they do, cries, laughs, and becomes like a mother to it. When she starts a book, it feels to her as if she is entering an unknown world, one that she has to explore and become familiar to before she is fully immersed in it. When she finishes it, it feels as if part of her is missing, as if the adventure she had been living was finally over and she feels emptiness inside of her, waiting to be filled with the pages of the next book. Some may call her overly obsessed about them, but she can’t help but love them.
SPRING LOVER In Amelia’s house in Tinworth, there is a garden. That garden is green and wide and the work of a lifetime of planting flowers and exotic plants by her mother. Amelia grew up in that garden; playing hide and seek with her brothers, reading by the shade of a tree, lying down in the flowerbed and inhaling the sweet smells of them, or maybe just walking outside, feeling the sun on her skin, and the colors of the different kinds of flowers. Dandelions, roses, violets, tulips, marigolds, lilies…they were all sweet and fragile and perfect. If you ask Amelia what immediately makes her fall for a guy, amongst other factors, of course, it would be if he knows her favorite flower (the carnation), and brings it to her. Not chocolates, not sappy love songs, not jewellery or a fancy restaurant; just a flower.
CURIOUS… Amelia is and has always been very…curious. If something is unknown to her or something mysterious is going on or just…different, she’ll immediately want to know what’s going on. New things are fascinating to her, and trying different and strange experiences are almost what she lives for. However, being a very strict follower of the rules, if something is beyond the boundaries of permission or rightness, however burning her sense of curiosity may be, she’ll learn to control it and merely focus on something else, so she won’t give in.
STUDENT Because of her parents’ excellent understanding and mind, Amelia was also born smart and a quick learner. When she got to Hogwarts, she was expectant and intrigued about how magic would be, what she would have to do, how she would do it. When she started learning, even if she didn’t get it right the first time, she would do it again and again until she did. Persistency has always been one of her character traits, and is one that, even if tedious sometimes, she is very proud of. As a result of her always wanting to learn everything right and wanting to be able to do everything she was asked, Amelia has always excelled in every class at Hogwarts, although she always struggled with Defense Against the Dark Arts, she managed an Acceptable in her fifth year, and is managing pretty well in her sixth. She has never gotten a detention in her life, and if she has lost points for Ravenclaw, they were for something stupid, and never happened again.
LOVING Amelia is very protective of her twin brother, Ian, and looks up to Edgar more than anybody. However, she is also independent, and doesn’t feel the need to follow in anybody’s footsteps. She does know, though, how to love, how to care, and how to be a good sister, girlfriend, daughter, and friend. Her friends are few but close and her boyfriends have been few and well chosen. Her parents love her and she loves them back, and hates to upset them, however annoying or irritating they may be sometimes, she does snap at them and has her fights, but eventually they’ll reconcile. Amelia does really dislike some people in school, but it is not in her nature to seek fights or insult someone, however mean they may be to her.
TWIN Even though Amelia loves Ian more than anything in the world, and cares about him, she has never wanted to be known as ‘the twins’, or ‘Ian’s sister’. She hates not being recognized for herself, and tries hard as she may to differ from him. If he’s a jock, she’s a bookworm; if he’s a Hufflepuff, she’s a Ravenclaw. It’s not that she doesn’t like to be like him, or doesn’t admire his qualities, but she really hates being part of a matching set, and the older they get, the less alike they get, and the happier she is.
JUSTICE Amelia is a strong believer of justice and acceptance. Any kind of prejudice, she despises, and anything unfair happening to somebody, she opposes and does everything in her power to eliminate. No matter how much she may like or dislike a person, justice comes first. It is her aspiration to someday work at the Minstry of Magic and help judge somebody, fairly and unbiased, as it should be.
Likes: + trying new things + reading + the completion of things + flowers + wizard chess + exploring, both the mind and the concept + classical music + justice + determination and strength of character + children in general + individualism Dislikes: – being useless – being called Melia, Milly, or Lia – stupidity – insecurity – people who disobey the rules – prejudice or biased judgment – being underestimated – disorganization or mess – pranks or any sort of tomfoolery – big-headedness – being part of a matching set – superficial novels – snakes (& other creatures lacking legs) History:
CLARISSE LIRIDON was born into a family of philosophers and inventors, where she was the black sheep in a field of white wool. She never really cared for inventions or crazy ideas for magical objects, nor to ponder on the creations or workings of the Wizarding World. She went and left Hogwarts always in the top twenty best witches in her grade, and with outstanding O.W.L.S and N.E.W.T.S. When she was seventeen, however, and her brother opened up a magical shop in Diagon Alley, she, instead, decided to write a column for the Daily Prophet. She got the job and started co-writing it with a man called Adam Bones.
ADAM BONES was a man of language and literacy. He never saw the use of Herbology or Defense Against the Dark Arts, however, writing about history, or current events was thrilling and, in his opinion, the best job a man could achieve. At the age of eighteen he got a job at the Daily Prophet, and excelled at it for two years straight. He made average money, and lived alone in a small house in Tinworth, a village in Cromwell. He was single and happy. His parents never really wrote to him, and he had no brothers and sisters to speak of, and although he had friends, of course, he was still lonely. It was in December, 1957 that he met his future bride.
THE COURTSHIP of Adam and Clarisse was slow-paced and, like most relationships, started out as a steady friendship. They would get together every day after work, first to think about what they would write about the next day, or to discuss the goings-on in the Wizarding World, but eventually their meetings became more coffee sipping and chatting about whatever than work topics. After a month or so, they got together, and half a year later, Clarisse moved in with him. In 1958, Adam proposed marriage to her, and she gracefully accepted.
MARRIED LIFE for the newlyweds was as hard as it was for any recent couple. They had their fights and their problems and Adam even moved out for two weeks, before coming back to her and groveling for forgiveness. Thus was granted and although they still had their rocky moments, they were happy together, and made a comfortable, yet not grand living with each other. 1961, Clarisse and Adam Bones had their first child.
THE FIRST BABY was a hassle, of course. Taking care of him, handling him, making routines, and keeping up with work was both exhausting and exciting for the couple. He was named Edgar, for Clarisse’s late father, and was as healthy a baby as ever. Even though the baby meant less time for themselves, less money, and longer and more tiring tasks, the Bones’ loved him and were perfectly happy.
THE SECOND BABY wasn’t just a second, but a third as well. Clarisse delivered a set of twins on March 18th, 1962. Amelia and Ian Bones were born blotchy and wailing, with an adoring mother holding them, and a proud father carrying a perplexed one-year-old in his arms. They grew up always wearing matching outfits and a bright smile on their faces. Once their genetics were fully developed, one could see most obviously that they were twins. Both blue-eyed, brown-haired, and pale-skinned, Amelia and Ian were the perfectly adorable baby twins that everybody loved to coddle and maim.
GROWING UP for Amelia was as hard as it should be for anybody. Her parents, though loving, never spoiled neither her nor her brothers, and when she was five years old, had already given her first signs of magic. It took Ian a little longer, but eventually so did he. Amelia always loved reading picture books or having her father read to her, and she loved flowers, which they had plenty of in her back yard, and listening to classical music, which her parents played for her since she was a baby. Though she was always curious and wanting to explore new things, each time she spotted her mother’s wand lying around, she resisted the temptation to give it a small wave, just because she was forbidden to, and Amelia was a very obedient girl.
THE HOGWARTS LETTER came June 18th, 1973. It contained Amelia’s acceptance at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and a list of spellbooks and supplies that she would need for her first year. She went with her family the next day to get everything, and came home that day with dozens of books, cauldrons, quills, ink, a new owl she called Vinny and a brand new wand. It was enough to say that Amelia couldn’t wait to get to school and show everybody all that she could do and prove how smart she was and see all the incredible things that she would be able to do with her wand and a few simple words.
THE HOGWARTS YEARS were both successful and exciting for Amelia. She never got lower than an A in any class, and she excelled in most. She made great friends and dated Pierre Scham in her third year, but they broke up less than half a year after. Every Christmas she’d go, along with Ian, to visit their parents, and during the summers sometimes they’d go to France or Italy or some other exotic place, and then she’d be back at Hogwarts. Amelia is now about to start her sixth year at Hogwarts, and in the middle of summer.
