Facial Properties: Sirius has a fair complexion, devoid of freckles and though not pale, his skin is far from tan. His nose very slender and straight and his mouth is a bit too long for his face, but works well to animate his smile. He has a full head of silky black hair, and has a habit of brushing his bangs back to expose his long forehead. Sometimes, though, the front locks escape to hang into his silver eyes, silver eyes, which seem to light up and glitter whenever a new plot hatches in his mind.
Physique: When he started in Hogwarts, he was the shortest amongst his three fastest friends, but it didn’t last for long. Soon, he was level with the tallest of them, James Potter, and then shot up a few more inches. Now, Sirius stands at a good 6’4’’ and hasn’t quite finished yet. Because of his immense growth spurt, he did look rather skinny and stretched, especially during his fourth and fifth years. Though still a little lanky, through his quidditch training and active hobbies, got toned body prevent anyone from calling him bony.

Personality:
The “White Sheep of the Black family” is known for his steadfast I’ll-be-who-I-want-to-be attitude, and radiates self-confidence in a way that is often seen as a pretentious, thingyy manner. Sometimes, his arrogance and unwillingness to back down gets him into trouble, but Sirius also possesses a miraculous ability to turn even the most grim situations into a lighthearted game. He laughs when his friend Remus tells him time and time again, “One of these days Sirius, you’re gonna bite off more than that big muzzle of yours can chew.”

The world is a stage to Sirius. He flaunts himself openly, taking any and every opportunity to be the center of attention. About a hundred times, the boy’s dorm has woken up to Sirius and James sword fighting with toothbrushes. More importantly, because of all this practice, Sirius is able to portray different roles at the opportune moment. When he needs to, he can play the angel, or the reaper.

Though notorious for being a heartbreaker, he somehow manages to charm and lure innocent parties into his charismatic grasp. There’s something fiercely independent about Sirius, wild and untamable. Many girls have taken it upon themselves to quest to domesticate and capture his impetuous, fiery spirit, but found the task ultimately futile. He’s had girlfriends on and off since his second year, but most have not lasted longer than two weeks. Sirius just does not take things seriously, and even romance is a game to him.

Underneath this outward, showy and rather emotionally detached appearance, Sirius deeply cares for his close friends, who he considers more of a family than his blood relatives. His loyalty is unwavering, and he’d do absolutely anything for someone he holds dear to him. Most of this aspect of his personality is materialized when he is around his three best friends: James Potter, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew. He was absolutely inseparable from James after the two hit it off first year, but has been forced to relinquish some of his claim when James finally succeeded in courting Lily into going steady. The times he can no longer spend with James, he has taken to dragging around with Remus.

History:
Sirius was the eldest son of Orion and Walburga Black. He was also, by definition, the heir to the Black family. To his distaste, it was a traditional pureblood family. They held the traditional elitism beliefs that witches and wizards of pureblood decent were somehow more gifted and blessed than those of mixed blood with muggles or those born of muggle parents. To keep the bloodline clean of such “filth,” those of pureblood decent were expected to marry other purebloods. His parents followed this tradition, and married even though they were second cousins, and both born with the surname “Black.”

Sirius had one younger brother and three older cousins. His younger brother, Regulus was a pride of his parents, and thusly, of distaste to Sirius. His three cousins were all female: Bellatrix Black, Andromeda Black, and Narcissa Black. He absolutely abhorred both Bellatrix and Narcissa. The two of them were slaves to the ideology of pureblood supremacy. However, he enjoyed the relationship he shared with the middle of the three sisters, Andromeda. She didn’t share in the traditional beliefs, and the two of them had been labeled as trouble-makers by the family.

He always had a rocky and distant relationship with his family (with the exception of Andromeda), which was only detrimented further when he was sorted into Gryffindor and embraced the diversity and equality that his relatives loathed. Eventually, his parents became completely fed up with him, and gave up on the proud Gryffindor as a lost cause and a traitor to his blood. His mother let him know this very vocally through a howler. To the horror of Orion and Walburga, Sirius wore the insult as a badge of honor rather than shame.

Sirius’ naturally rebellious nature lead him straight to detention his first month in Hogwarts, where he spent an evening catching oversized slugs with his best friend James Potter. As the two cleared out the garden, they hatched a brilliant scheme. With a few of the slugs in hand, they left Greenhouse 1 after dark. The next day, they were back in the Greenhouse, scrubbing the walls, but quite pleased with the reactions of their Charm’s teacher upon discovering several large, slimy slugs in her hat. It was the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

Candles burned, casting flickering shadows around a deserted classroom. Upon one of the desks was a Gryffindor student uniform. A tall figure tossed a long black cape over his shoulders, and the swish of wind caused by his sudden action made the small candle flames flicker. The boy turned and gazed in a mirror as he fixed the ruby clasp of his cape, and out back stared a noble from the 1700s, the upper part of his face hidden behind a black mask with detailed gold lines skirting across it. A loose-sleeved shirt with almost frilled, wide cuffs was layered underneath an elegant black vest with gold buttons that looked bronzed in the dim light, and trimming to match the lines on the mask. His belt was hanging asymmetrically at his hips, and on it hung a slender rapier in a decorative sheath of ebony. Simple pants were tucked into comfortable leather boots dyed as dark as the rest of his outfit. Lovely locks of silky hair had been magically enchanted to grow several inches longer, and the tips just brushed the top of his shoulders.

He grinned widely and brought his wand up to add the final touches. With a small tap to each of his canines, they lengthened to twice their normal length. Cautiously, he ran his tongue across them, and then smiled silkily. A smirk perfectly fit for the graceful vampire he had become.

Sirius gave a telltale flip of his black hair, as he finally turned away from the mirror and started towards the door. He felt more than heard the padded footsteps of his cat at his side, and stopped with the door half-open. “Bastet you’ve got to go back to the common room.” A loud, irritated meow responded to the statement. “They’ll realize who I am in half an instant if you’re tagging around my feet. It’s a masquerade! I need to hide my identity. In addition to that, I’ll be dancing, and you’ll be squashed.” The cat grudgingly glared up at him with eyes the same shade as his shining buttons in the candle’s flickering light. “I promise to bring you back some fish, love.” He knelt down and stroked the feline’s soft cheek. Bastet dug her head against his hand lovingly and a purr erupted from her small chest.

For several minutes, he continued petting and rubbing the small animal with his long-fingered hands, dexterous from years of playing the piano. It was hard to tell who was indulging more in the small exchange. The cat’s purring amplified and an uncharacteristically delicate smile played across the vampire’s lips.

Eventually, Sirius stood, looking almost pained as his hands lifted away from the feline’s velvety fur. However, the expression vanished as the cat gave one last affectionate rub to his leg, then loped out of the classroom and melted into the gloom of the unlit hallway.

After a moment of gazing into the darkness, the sounds of the ball reached his ears. “… darn! I’m late!” He tried to shut out an instant mental image of a certain sandy-haired werewolf saying, “… as usual.” Sirius flew up a staircase to the entrance hall three steps at a time, his cape flowing out behind him, revealing the dark reddish inside. Once in the Entrance Hall, he slowed to a graceful strolling gait as he stepped towards the Great Hall, in which the ball was supposed to take place.

He walked into the hall with an air of smooth arrogance that he could only partially attribute to staying in-character with his costume. From behind the black-and-gold mask, he let his silvery eyes scan the crowds of people. Immediately, his gaze was drawn to the dance floor. The lovely way the elaborate dresses of the females swirled out with each step; the commanding grace the males had as they lead their partners. He wanted to jump right in and steal away a partner to spin and twirl with, and had to exert a good amount of self-control to stop himself. In time, in time.

The vampire instead turned his attention to the details of other costumes as he paced along the outside of the dance floor towards a crowd of chatting females. He had to admit, he preferred the male costumes over those worn by the girls. It seemed boys had put less restraint into selecting clothing, and as a result there was much more variance. The girls had a pattern: all of them were wearing long, shiny dresses. Certainly the patterns and frills changed with each dress, but the fact remained that they were still all long dresses. Then again… around some of the outfits there was an alluring androgyny. Was that a girl underneath that long Shakespearean shirt and creamy tights?
As this thought crossed his mind, he looked down at his own attire, and noted how the vest accentuated his slender waist and the loose pants gave his hips a curve that his school uniform never had. He reached up to toy with a lock of his lengthened black hair, and wondered if that androgynous touch resided around his costume as well.

Sirius shrugged off the thought as he reached the group of girls and bowed elegantly to them. He took the hand of the owner of his favorite female costume so far. She wore delicate white wings and a lovely cream and gold dress that looked rather medieval, and was the most creative dress he had seen in his inspection of the room. The vampire and kissed the back of her hand softly, “Greetings, Mademoiselle Angel. Would you consent to a dance with the d**ned?”
