HISTORY:Sabrina was born to Edward Spellman (a warlock) and Diana Becker (a mortal), making her a half-mortal witch. Sabrina was very close with both of her parents when she was growing up in their care. When she went to live with her aunts Hilda and Zelda shortly before she turned 16 years old, she thought it was because of her parents divorce and career choices. While Diana was on a prolonged archeological dig in Peru, she was told her father was away in the "foreign services" (which wasn't a lie, except that he was working for the Other Realm foreign services).
After Sabrina's powers reveal themselves, she is told by her aunts and her father that she is unable to see her mother ever again or else Diana will turn into a ball of wax, which is a decree from the Witches Council to discourage mortal/witch unions (although she was able to see her briefly at the end of the second season when she must decide between her magic or seeing her mother again). She gives up her powers allowing her to see her mother safely, but discovers it was a test to prove there was something more important to her than her magic and she gains her powers back after her visit.
Because of her father's job, she doesn't see him as often as she would like, however she sees him briefly when he announces he has a new girlfriend named Gail Kippling. Initially Sabrina is hesitant to accept Gail, but when she realizes how happy Gail makes her father, she accepts the woman and she and Edward are later married. Later Sabrina briefly moves to live with her father and Gail in Paris before returning home to Westbridge.
