ABOUT THE CHARACTER Name: Dylena Marie Durnen Age: 16 Gender: Female Year: 6 Celebrity: Alexis Bledel
Canon or Original? Original
Facial Properties: Dylena has bright blue, slightly almond shaped eyes. Her face is oval shaped. She has a small nose, covered with a light dusting of freckles that extend across her cheeks. Her hair is fairly straight and is a very dark brown that sometimes seems black and reaches to her elbows. It is usually pulled up in a bun, though some always manages to escape and hang in her eyes. Her skin is lightly tanned all year round, though it does get a bit darker in the summer and a bit lighter in the winter. Physique: Dylena is fairly small for a girl her age. She barely reaches 5'3". She is slim, and weighs about 110 pounds, giving some the impression that a good strong breeze might knock her right over. She's got a fair bit of muscle, even if she does have a kind of willowy build. Her chest area is about average for her age. She's not particularly curvy, but she doesn't mind. She always stands up straight, and never slouches if only to make herself seem a bit taller than she really is.
Personality: Dylena is usually a fairly calm person. Though she does have a bit of a temper, it takes a lot to make her lose it. She's usually fairly quiet. Though it isn't because she's shy, it's because in her family she rarely had a chance to get a word in when the rest of them started talking.
She's a very determined person. She doesn't like to let things stand in the way of getting something done. She likes to excel at whatever she does, whether it's schoolwork, Quidditch, or something else. She's incredibly stubborn, and doesn't like to accept help from anyone. With the exception of professors, as they generally know what they're talking about, unlike some of her fellow students.
She isn't usually seen socializing with others, mostly because she's got her nose buried in a book, or is busy with homework, and tends to snap at those who disrupt her concentration. She is very intelligent, and doesn't let anyone tell her otherwise. Dylena is level-headed and doesn't like to get her hopes up prematurely. She is very opinionated, though she keeps her opinions to herself unless she is with her close friends.
Her main dream is to become an Auror, like her father, once she's finished at Hogwarts. She's not afraid of much, aside from spiders and snakes, they just creep her out, and failing one of her classes. She doesn't like to fail at anything, one of the reasons she works so hard at everything she does. Likes: Quidditch Chocolate Wizard's Chess Flying Reading Writing Stories Practicing Magic Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans Swimming Mythology Studying Dislikes: Rain The cold Boredom Spiders Snakes Stuck-up People Liars People who think you MUST be Pureblood Brussel Sprouts The smell of wet wool
History: Dylena was born in London, England. Both her parents are wizards, though her mother was muggle born, while her father is pure-blood. She had a fairly normal childhood for a young girl in a wizarding family. She never went to a muggle school and was instead home schooled, along with her older brother Patrick, until he went off to Hogwarts, by her mother, until she recieved too her letter of accpetance to Hogwarts when she was eleven.
Her first experience with magic had been when she was seven years old. Dylena's mother was usually pretty good at keeping her wand out of Dylena's reach, but she managed to get a hold of it one day. She managed to make the family cat grow to three times it's size before her mother got the wand away. Her first few months at Hogwarts were a little frightening for her. She didn't know many other wizarding children, and she wasn't one who made friends too easily in those years. She got used to it though, mainly be focusing on her schoolwork. She made a few friends. It was for her first birthday while at Hogwarts that she got her first pet. A snowy owl named Nala.
She always enjoys the time she spends at school, though that doesn't mean she doesn't like her summer break as well. She almost always stays for the Christmas holidays, as both her parents are far too busy and have enough to worry about without adding their children to the mix over the holidays. Her mother is a healer at St. Mungo's while her father is an Auror. Though Dylena has always been willing to help her mother out at St. Mungo's on the rare occasion when she's home at Christmas.
She has always been particularly close to her brother, despite the five years difference in their age, so when he decided to go to work at the Ministry as an Auror after his graduation from Hogwarts, Dylena naturally started to worry about his safety just as much as she worries about her parents. Though luckily, nothing has happened to any of them yet. In her fifth year Dylena got an O.W.L. in all the subjects she took, except for Divination (but she knew she was bound to fail that one anyway), and is nearly certain the same will be true for her N.E.W.T's, leaving no doubt in her mind that she will be able to go on to Auror training upon her graduation.
ABOUT YOU Name: Kina Years of Experience: about 6 Sample Post: Piles of books, parchment, quills, and a few ink bottles covered the table in the Ravenclaw common room. Sitting in front of this mound of stuff was a dark haired sixth year. Her quill was moving rapidly across the length of parchment directly in front her, pausing for brief moments as she stopped to check something in one of her books. She was throwing annoyed looks over her shoulder at the noisier occupants of the common room whenever she paused. Just because some of them chose to leave their homework to the last minute, didn’t mean that everyone did, and the least they could do was show some measure of respect for those who were trying to get their work done. She was finding it more and more difficult to restrain herself from shooting a hex of some sort or another at some of them.
She couldn’t even go down to the library to escape from the noise as it was past curfew, and there was no she was going to risk getting caught just for some quiet. After a particularly loud outburst from some fourth years sitting by the fire, Dylena slammed her books shut, and gathered up her stuff. She would just have to work in her dorm, on her bed; at least it would be quiet up there. She climbed the stairs and dumped her books and parchment onto her bed, and sat the edge of it. She opened up her Transfiguration book and returned to the essay she’d been writing for Dumbledore.
She was still busy writing when the other girls who shared the dorm with her walked in. “Why are you working up here instead of in the common room, Lena?” one of the girls asked, coming over and reading part of the essay over Dylena’s shoulder.
“It was too noisy, honestly you think people would have a little more respect for those of us who actually do our homework….” Was her reply, as she finished off the essay and tucked it, her books, and ink and quill back into her back. “I suppose it’s quieted down in there now though. What time is it anyway?”
“After eleven,” one girl replied, “we expected you to be asleep, not still working.” The others muttered their agreement, as all five of them got ready for bed. “Though I guess you are a bit of an overachiever, aren’t you?”
“Definitely,” Dylena answered as she climbed into bed and pulled the hangings around her. Other: blackboard
