ABOUT THE CHARACTER Name: Rena Jewel Shokkes Age: 16 Gender: Female Year:6th Celebrity: Ah ha, I see since Adrienne has been deleted, we’ll go with Avril Lavigne.
Canon or Original? Original
Facial Properties: When describing ones face, you typically start with the eyes. In Rena’s case here, they are a deep hazel, maybe even brown. You know how some people’s eyes can change shades due to outfit, weather, mood or whatever the reason? That’s Rena for you. The next thing you tend to notice is their skin tone. She has a very fair skin tone, with the occasional acne outburst, which like any normal teen, she would spend hours obsessing over. Her nose is slightly pointed upwards, giving her an inquiring, and edgy look. As well as this, she also has had her ears pierced numerous times, also adding to her scary appearance. We’ll move away from the more harsh stuff, and up to a higher point in her face. When I say higher, I don’t mean nicer. I mean her forehead, which is quite big, and quite high. And her delicate smile, which is usually placed in a firm half-frown. All of this comes together on Rena’s heart-shaped face. Atop that face rests her blonde hair, with streaks of darker blonde, brunette, and black.
Physique: Rena doesn’t give in to the desire to be thin as a toothpick like some girls her age, and just to prove it, she indulges herself completely at any given feast. She’s just average size, not underweight, or over. Exercise is a pretty much foreign word to her. Maybe once a week she’ll go for a walk to look at nature, which is something she enjoys, but nothing big like hitting the gym for hours on end or anything. Hence the fact that she has nearly not an athletic bone in her body. And she’s surprisingly, completely okay with that. She has broken multiple bones before due to her lack of calcium intake. She’d rather have pumpkin juice then cream any day. In addition, Rena isn’t the tallest thing, leaving room for anyone to pick on her.
Personality: Have I told you she comes off as a tad scary right off the bat? Well you’ve certainly heard the phrase ‘don’t judge a book by it’s cover’ or ‘looks can be deceiving’ but in this case, Rena is on book that has one mean looking cover, revealing something about the book itself. No, she’s not evil. And no she’s not buddy buddy. You’ll have quite a hard time befriending her unless you understand her very well, which nearly nobody does. I would say that she’s certainly the poisonous apple to watch out for, because she’s got a nasty bite when she’s on a roll. She’ll rip you to shreds without knowing, let alone caring, without a hint of guilt in her eyes. Needless to say, watch out for this one. She’ll be nice when she wants to be, like when she meets some that even she accepts. Thats another thing with her. She longs to be accepted, but continues to express herself in such vivd ways, that nobody really wants to accept her, let alone befriend her.
Another time Rena will be acceptionaly nice is when she meets a cute boy. Then her attitude changes completely. Yes, she’s boy crazy, and will do nearly anything to impress. This is more then a little odd, considering the rest of her dark personality, but hey, thats just the way she works. Many a time you’d often find her by the lake, never with the same significant other. She’s never satisfied, or perhaps I should say rarely rather then never, but either way she has rather poor values when it comes to boys. And though you’d never believe it, when she’s with whomever it may be at the time, she’s extremely giddy and happy. Strange, isn’t it? Sometimes you just never understand people.
On to the school details about our friend Mrs. Shokkes, shall we? First, she enjoys reading, just not homework, and note taking. She’s not the person you’d find dozing off in the back of the class, though not the one playing professor’s pet up in the front. She’s an average student. Not the favored student of all professors though, that’s quite for sure. Sometimes, a lot of students will automatically hae a teacher for the amount of homework they give, but Rena will merely moan and groan while still holding a immense amount of respect for all her professors.
Some other things about Rena include the fact that she is extremely close to all her family members, especially her siblings which she has quite a few of. Growing up around so many people, you’d think it’d make her a more friendly person, but nope. Not even close. She’s also grown fond of most animals, within reason, as she has also grown up around quite a few of them. Most of them aren’t hers of course, except for two of them, but she has grown attached to some of her brother’s and sister’s owls.
Now, we can say it’s safe to sum up Rena. She’s spiteful, and quite unfriendly, unless she chooses to behave differently. She does quite average in school. As well, she’s animal and family friendly. She’s disloyal, and far from trustworthy usually, but she gets by with the scant amount of friends she salvages. She also takes the house barriers very seriously, except for the exceptional inter-house friend, which even she agrees, is good to have at least one of. And that’s basically Rena Shokkes in a nice little nutshell.
Likes: + a heated debate, as long as she’s winning + talking to the portraits on the walls + animals + nice professors + Hogsmeade trips + family gatherings + being better then others + boys + feasts + sitting by the lake
Dislikes: - being bored with nothing to do - being right after she was sure she was right - overly giddy and happy people - robes - cold weather - large crowds - piles of homework - long conversations - not knowing what’s going on - embarassing herself in front of others
History: Rena grew up around muggles, even though her parents were pure blood, but that certainly didn’t bother her in the least. It’s not like she was home very often anyways, as she usually stays with her grandparents over vacations. So do Colin, Marina, and Eileen, her siblings. The reason behind this, is because they typically enjoy the mini family reunions over vacation that her grandparent’s hold in their enormous backyard. There’s a spare room that they all have to share, and Mr. And Mrs. Shokkes have their own separate rooms. Alright, I’m done giving you the Shokkes’ family agenda, so I’ll move on to the good stuff.
I mentioned her brother and sisters, yes? I’ll feed you a bit about them now. Colin shares a very similar personality with Rena. Not that she’s not close with Marina and Eileen at all, she just favors Colin. Marina is still just as spiteful, yet a little more prissy then Rena. They still click, and love each other as siblings, they’re just a little distant. Eileen on the other hand is quite close with Marina and Rena, but far from close with Colin. They’re the two that you would find picking on each other, or pointing fingers. And usually, you could guess from his similar personality with Rena, he’s often the one who starts it.
Since she was 11, she has had the same tort colored owl, Twisty. She has grown very close to him, and treats him as if he were another brother or sister. He’s been quite a nice part of her history as well. He’s accompanied her to Hogwarts since her first year, delivering those good old letters from mom and dad ever since. And yes, he’s bitten occasionally, but he’s an owl, what does he know? Alrighty, so I’ve gotten to the point that I’m describing her pet owl to you, so I do believe I tell you about other things.
Another person who’s played a good bit of a role in her life, is none other then her Aunt Elise. When her mother Donna was hospitalized due to a bad broom accident, Rena stayed at Elise’s house. About three days later, Donna came back home, and was shocked to see that her little Rena didn’t even want to leave. About a year after, Elise was killed by a killing curse. The worst part of it all was the fact that it was a freak accident. The wand wasn’t meant to be aimed at her, and she was in the wrong place at the wrong time, leaving Rena in the unfriendly, untrusting state you’d see her in now. She doesn’t like to get too attached to people, because she’s afraid she’d lose them as she did Elise.
So there’s a little mouthful of Rena’s history that I hoped you enjoyed. It’s not been great, but she is considered quite fortunate compared to some, who have seen much harder. Sometimes, Rena feels quite bad about letting that part of her past eat her spirits, and leave her so unfriendly as this.
ABOUT YOU Name:Bethany Years of Experience: Umm.. Not sure.. 1+ I believe. Sample Post: Ugh I think I’ll use the one from Mark’s App.. Mark stared deeply at the little Gryffindor in front of her. He looked down upon her and chuckled, acting like she didn't phase him on the outside, though on the inside he felt like just slapping her silly and getting away from her. He had no clue that one little sweet and innocent girl could pack such an annoying punch. Well, to most she was sweet and innocent, but Mark could hardly say the same about her.
"I'm sure somebody's told you that you are in fact one of the most annoying beings that walks this earth." He said, not caring about whatever she could say back to him. He didn't expect a reply, and Bethany didn't give him one. She merely looked shocked at the unexpected comment. This girl has some issues.. Mark thought to himself. He looked quickly away from her, desperate to see something besides those big, stupid brown eyes looking back up at him.
They were arguing about something stupid, that he was sure Bethany had started. Or maybe it was him.. Who knows. Either way he thought about just walking away, but that would be the same as losing, now wouldn't it? Losing was a word that just wasn't in the Ellor family's vocabulary. It was one of the first things his parents had taught him. "Never say you can't, and never lose without trying." His mom had enforced it more then his father. He felt the pang of a thousand icicles at the thought of his mom. Though he didn't let Bethany see it.
"I've got to be getting somewhere soon, so if you don't mind just saying your silly little remarks that you would call insults quickly please?" Mark was smiling, smiling down at her sweetly, like he honestly didn't care what about whatever she could possibly say to hurt him. He didn't care either. Bethany may have thought she could sway him, but that just wasn't the way things worked. He shoved his hands in his pockets, and teetered back and fourth on his feet, to show sarcastic impatience. A smile crept across his sneering face, and he burst out laughing, remembering something funny that had happened yesterday, though he pretended he was laughing at Bethany's lack of good insults, as an excuse to hightail it out of there.
