ABOUT THE CHARACTER Name: Alanah Iresol Age: 16 Gender: Female Year: 6th Celebrity: Vanessa Hudgens
Canon or Original? Original
Facial Properties: Alanah's hair is a shiny jet-black, like a raven's wing, usually down or in a ponytail. She has chocolate-brown eyes, surrounded by fairly short, curling lashes, usually holding a penetrating gaze. Her complexion is quite tan, due to the time she spends outside. Alanah's lips are highly defined, nearly always creased into a friendly grin - except when she's angry; then it's a harsh frown - and her nose is small but not crushed onto her face. Her eyebrows are slim and dark, resembling her hair somewhat. When Alanah smiles, she displays straight white teeth. Physique: Alanah is a slim girl, but she still maintains some muscle due to the time she spends outside on a broomstick. She's usually found wearing either her Hogwarts clothing or dusty blue jeans and a colored tank top or T-shirt. For formal occasions, she has a stunning satin light blue dress that cost pretty much all her money, and black high-heels. She has slender fingers, a bit crooked from when they've been broken, and small feet tucked into worn sneakers. Alanah is fairly tall, around 5' 8'', with long legs suited for running - or keeping on a broomstick 100 feet above the ground.
Personality: Alanah is generally a sweet-tempered girl who will help anyone who needs her. Alanah has plenty of friends, and she always hangs out with a group of them, chatting and talking. Even studying, they're nearly always together. Younger students try and stay out of Alanah's way, for her anger is legendary. But when they need help, she tries to help, though sometimes her unpredictable temper can send them away crying loudly. Alanah always answers questions in class but she's not always correct, but she's a hard-worker.
Quidditch is definitely one of her favorite things to do. She loves to play, and staying on the sidelines is too dull for Alanah. She is usually involved with several Clubs, and her face is well-known about the school. Boys sometimes come over to talk to her, in the hope she might talk to them for awhile, either about Quidditch or something else. Alanah usually speaks to them politely, then waves them off with a friendly hand, and then turns to talk to her friends about something else. She is always very interested in her House's prospects for winning the House Cup and usually greets her House's first-years one by one after they have been sorted. Sometimes, though, when bad things happen, she can be drawn into long depressions based on the murder of her sister. Though this hardly happens, it's very hard to cheer her up when she does.
Alanah is very proud and she often thinks too much of herself. When she receives a rude remark from someone, its most likely she'll blow up in their face and yell in front of the whole school. She is willing to get down and dirty to get something done, and being very determined, Alanah will never stop doing something until it is done. She sends letters to her family nearly every week. Alanah is quite blunt and doesn't hesitate to speak her mind about any situation. Fearless except for her phobia of closed in spaces, it's not surprising. Her dream is to one day become an Auror - not only to help the wizarding world with the current Voldemort situation, but also because she vowed to take revenge on the Death Eater who murdered her sister.
She is quite intelligent, and can solve most problems quickly and efficiently. Potions is her worst subject, though, and she narrowly passed it in her O.W.L's. Muggle Studies - why did she ever have to chose it? - is quite a task too, but she's good at Charms. Always before a test, Alanah can be found in the library, buried in a book. She enjoys reading, but not as much as Quidditch. Alanah practices hard for Quidditch, which she has a passion. She would love to get on her House team, for being on the sidelines is simply too boring for her. Alanah also is adept at being leader - not that it helped her become a prefect - and she can quickly take control of a situation that is getting out of hand, though her temper often gets furious retributions.
However, Alanah can spend too much time with her friends and not enough time studying. This can lead to her sitting up late into the night studying for a test the day before it begins. Then Alanah becomes grumpy and snappy, and others usually stay out of her way. Alanah can also sometimes be snobby to 'unpopular' students, and she loves a good gossip, and often it leads to nasty results. She doesn't talk much to younger students from other Houses and she can be extremely angry with them if they intrude on her. She strives to do everything, and can sometimes be a bit of an over-achiever.

History: Alanah was birthed by love between a man and a woman, who were both intellectuals and strived to learn more. She was their third child out of five. Alanah worked hard for her parents' benefit, and helped around the house. Her father, as a member of the Ministry of Magic, sometimes brought her to work and boasted of his daughter's smarts and willingness. Her mother was a patron at St. Mungos, and on some days she brought Alanah to work with her to see the patients. When Alanah was eleven, she received the letter that allowed her into Hogwarts, like her brother and sister before her.
She was immediately sent to Diagon Alley and bought her things she needed. Then she was bustled off to the train. Alanah met her first friend on the train. By the time they'd arrived, Alanah already had a new best friend. Alanah worked hard at Hogwarts to make her parents proud, and was rewarded for it. She found many new friends, and by her second year, she had promise. Alanah was always fascinated by Quidditch. During the summer when her brother was home, (who was on Ravenclaw's team) they played mock games.
Alanah continued to work hard all through her school years and received very good grades. After passing her O.W.L.S, she went home for the summer. It was supposed to be a time to relax and have fun. That was not to be. One night, the whole household woke to a terrible screaming. They searched the house, frightened, and found Alanah's youngest sister, who was due to start at Hogwarts next year, murdered in her bed. Luckily, Alanah's father managed to ward off the Death Eater who was lurking there and sounded the alarm, but the Death Eater Apparated before the Ministry of Magic officials could arrive.
Alanah now held a grudge against the Death Eaters and You-Know-Who. She was determined to track down the man who had done this. She almost managed to slip out of the house that same summer, but her mother caught her and she was forced to remain, for her parents feared for her life. Alanah has now returned to Hogwarts for her sixth year, but she has never forgotten the murder of her sister.
ABOUT YOU Name: Alanah Years of Experience: One Sample Post: Alanah sat hunched over a long piece of parchment at a table in the common room, her quill flying over the paper as she wrote frantically, attempting to finish this assignment before it became too late to work. The desk around her was littered with books and completed parchments, nearly covering it. She glanced out the window briefly, choked when she saw the giant semi-circle blazing ball of fire sinking over the distant mountains, and began writing once more - faster, if possible. Her ink bottle was nearly empty when she dabbed her eagle feather quill into it. Muttering to herself, Alanah stood up, pushed the parchment away from her, and raced up to her dormitory. She rummaged hastily through her trunk until she found another ink bottle and thundered down to the common room once more. Then she halted, glaring at the boy who had decided to sit in her seat before she'd come back.
Resisting the urge to grab her wand and jinx the smug look off Deon's face, Alanah stalked to the table and slammed her ink bottle on the counter. Then with her hand still on the hard wood, she slid toward him until she was right in front of the arrogant boy. Her brown eyes blazing with a combination of annoyance and down-right fury, Alanah hissed, "Get out of my chair, Deon." The boy glanced up at her with a faintly surprised expression, but it quickly changed. Smirking, Deon replied - she longed to squish the sixth-year's over-sized ego to a pulp - "What if I don't want to?" Her temper was boiling now, about to unleash on Deon, and her hurry to finish her assigment wasn't helping much. Still, she knew he was egging her, and trying to make her do something stupid to get her in trouble. 'Oh, why did Deon have to be in the same house as me?' Alanah shrieked silently. Surely she didn't deserve to be in the same House as this moron! Glaring at the boy, but unable to do anything to him that was breaking school rules caused her to back down grudgingly. Sending Deon a glance of pure poison, Alanah grabbed her scroll, quill, and ink bottle and stalked to the other side of the table where another thankfully vacant chair was sitting.
She sat down, ignoring Deon's triumphant look, and, dipping her quill into the fresh ink bottle, began to write again. She wasn't as hurried this time, wanting to do a good job but still seething over Deon, but she was aware of the time trickling steadily away as the sun slowly disappeared over the mountains. After a few minutes of icy silence between Alanah and Deon, one of her friends, Morgan, wandered over, bored with their other friends' chat over the cutest boys in school. She glanced from side to side, taking in the situation immediately, and went over to Alanah. "Deon getting on your nerves again?" she asked sympathetically, sending a scathing glance at the boy. Alanah nodded but did not look up, her quill still moving across the parchment, which was more than done already. Morgan tapped her friend on the shoulder. "You know, you've already gotten an inch more than Binns asked for. Why don't you call it good for the night?" Alanah looked down in mild surprise at her parchment. "You're right. Good idea," she told Morgan gratefully, picking up all her books and parchment and stuffing the lot into her bag. "But not before I've done something about him." Alanah added, jerking her head savagely in the direction of Deon's hateful figure.
Morgan nodded understandingly, and the two girls crossed the table to confront Deon. They both glared at him for a few moments, before he flinched and blurted out, "What's got your wand in a knot?" Alanah leaned forward until their noses were almost touching. Deon leaned back uncomfortably. His chair tipped, and he hastily uprighted it, blushing a deep pink. Alanah stabbed her finger violently at the boy. "You know what's up," she snapped, not trying to hold onto her temper anymore. "Don't you dare try and pretend otherwise." Deon nodded quickly. "Of course, Alan-" "And you better not be rude to us anymore. Understand?" Morgan interrupted, glaring ferociously at him. The boy looked like he understood very well. "Well, if that's it, I'd better be going then," he commented, trying to slide past Alanah's furious form while at the same time trying to keep his cool. Alanah sent him a scathing look and stepped back, allowing him to stand up and scurry to his dormitory.
"Well, I'm glad that's over," sighed Morgan. A disturbance interrupted her. Instead of going up to the boy's dormitory, as Deon had intended to do, he had accidentally tried to access the girl's dormitory instead. The stairs turned to a steep slide, and Deon clung to it helplessly for a second before sliding down and landing, very red, on his bottom. The common room broke out into uproarious laughter, Alanah and Morgan among them. As soon as the slide deposited Deon unceremoniously onto the ground, it turned into a spiral staircase again. Deon stood up, rubbing his sore rump, and made an ungraceful retreat to his dormitory, tripping over the rug as he went. "Yeah, very good," Alanah gasped out between gales of laughter, tears running down her cheeks. Morgan, unable to speak due to her laughter, nodded, and they both raced up the stairs and into their dormitory. After having another good laugh, they both collapsed onto their beds. "'Night, Alanah," Morgan yawned. "'Good night, Morgan," Alanah replied sleepily. They were asleep within moments. Other: blackboard I was also on Age of the Marauders as Alanah. [/color]
