ABOUT THE CHARACTER Name: Lyra Nanette Yorick Age: 16 Gender: Female Year: 5th Celebrity: Jessica Alba
Canon or Original? Original
Facial Properties: Lyra's face is a smiley one, able to show many different levels of happiness with her eyes and smile. It's of a very round shape, with pinch-able cheeks and big open eyes that show a childish beauty. Her full lips cause her entire face to light up with a contagious smile, complete with one deep dimple on either side of her face. A pair of giant, blue doe eyes hold all her emotion, showing her wide range of feelings. With skin that changes color with the seasons, the summer months bring a natural olive color and the winter months bring a more desaturated hue. Her cheeks are adorned with a pink flush all year round.
Physique: Lyra's body is a tiny one, and the petiteness of it makes her seem shorter than she is. Standing straight up, she reaches 5 feet and 9 inches tall. She weighs 112 pounds. She is very tall for her age, having hit a growth spurt in her fourth year. The longest part of her body are definitely her legs. She is very fit, because she does a lot of running and even plays quidditch occasionally with the guys, even though she isn't on the team. It is more of a hobby. She doesn't try to stay in shape, she just gets lucky. Lyra has a nice body for her age, but she doesn't brag about it - she just flaunts it.
Personality: Lyra is a complicated girl, who is hard to understand unless you really put yourself in her shoes. She is a very smart girl, who works hard for her grades and goes above and beyond in her school work. She cares about her friends, and really enjoys making new ones. She doesn't care what house you are from. She wants everybody to like her, and she hates when rumors get spread about her. She is a sweet, innocent, shy, awkward girl, who refuses to let anybody know. Lyra's problem, and the reason she is so complicated, is because her entire school life is a facade. Lyra doesn't want anybody to know the true her, and she owes that to her family upbringing. On the outside she acts dumb and ditzy. She sits in class, twisting her hair around her finger and staring off into space, even though she is secretly hanging on to every word the professor says. She flirts with the guys, sneaks off school property after curfew with her friends, and keeps herself informed about all the latest gossip in Hogwarts.
This young lady overreacts when she's sad and throws tantrums when she doesn't get her way. If you tell her no, she acts like she hasn't ever heard the word before. The thing is, its just that, acting. She makes sure she always looks flawless, even though she'd rather put her hair into a messy ponytail and throw on some jeans and a t-shirt. Thanks to her mother though, she doesn't own many pairs of jeans or many t-shirts.
The majority of Lyra's life at Hogwarts is a lie, and as much as she hates it she can't bring herself to go against all that her parents believe. She can't act goofy or smart. She doesn't want to be a disappointment to anyone, even if it means being a disappointment to herself. She is waiting for somebody to come along who will allow her to be her. She wants somebody to force it out of her, and accept it. She wants somebody to keep her secret.

History: Nadia Stein was forced into marriage at a very young age to a man that was ten years older. Nadia's family was struggling to make money and they could no longer support her or her older sister so they married them off for someone else to take care of. Nadia was sixteen when she became Mrs. Nadia Yorick. The young man, Marlie Yorick, was twenty-six. He wasn't from a very wealthy family, but seemed to think he was still better than everyone else. Their status in the village was very high and so they tended to get a little full of themselves, and Nadia soon caught on and joined them in their ways.
Lyra was born on December 23, of the following year, to a then seventeen and then twenty-seven year old Nadia and Marlie Yorick. Growing up her family never had much money, but raised her to act as if they did. They taught her how to behave and how to dress. Her father made sure she knew how to get what she wanted in the most cut-throat ways, and her mother showed her how to hike up her dress a little to make sure all eyes were on her. If she couldn't buy her way up the social ladder, maybe she could marry somebody who could. At least, that is what her parents told her.
Lyra had always been raised around magic, both of her parents being magic, and could hardly wait for the day she received her Hogwarts letter of acceptance. She wanted to get away from her parents and her fake life at home. She wanted to make friends and not act like she was somebody that she wasn't. Unfortunately for her, Lyra's parents managed to keep tabs on her pretty well. She found out rather quickly that Hogwarts was no different from her home life, and if she wanted to avoid trouble she needed to just give in.
Lyra's life at Hogwarts so far has been far from enjoyable. She dreads waking up in the morning, thinking that if she stays under the covers she can avoid all the lies. She wishes that she could turn every fake smile into a real one, and every dirty look into a pleasant one. It is hard for her to hurt people, and it hurts her to have the reputation she does. She is constantly striving to find a friend, somebody to trust. She is lucky enough to have made a few true ones, but the majority are only in it for their own benefit.
She is growing up and becoming a young lady, and the older she gets the harder the choices become. Should she put on a show forever, and do what her mother and father want, even if it makes her unhappy? Or, should she break free, be herself, and hope for the best? Right now she is being painfully torn between those two decisions.
ABOUT YOU Name: Brit. Hello, again! Years of Experience: About 6 years. Sample Post: Taken from Mafalda!
In all fairness, Mafalda hadn't gotten what she had been expecting either. She expected him to tell her that the reason that Ravenna might not like him kissing another girl was because she had a huge crush on him, and it would simply hurt her to witness such an act from the boy who had stolen her affection. It was a rather unrealistic reason for her to care if he kissed somebody, if they weren't dating, because it just didn't seem like the Slytherin girl to act in such a way - but they were obviously dating or they were planning on it. Mafalda still would have preferred that reason to the real one.
Standing there, she squeezed the rock in her hand tighter, hoping to maybe transfer all of her frustration into it. All of the emotions that went through this girls head were enough to drive a person crazy. Currently Ludo had managed to make her go from excited, to hopeful, to confused, to angry. It wasn't fair, but it wasn't his fault either. What was his fault though, was not telling Mafalda that he was interested in a girl, not mentioning Ravenna ever, not telling her that he had a date, and not caring enough to ask if she had one as well. Weren't best friends supposed to talk about these things? It seemed like the past couple of months had been strained between them. They weren't drifting apart, but there was something between them and it was keeping them from getting to each other. They needed to figure out what the problem was and fix it fast, before their friendship completely died. Mafalda felt like he was slipping away. It hurt her that Ludovic obviously didn't value their friendship as much as she did - at least, that's what she thought.
Well, to be honest Mafalda...you do sound pretty jealous.
Ouch. He had come right out and said it. It didn't matter that she had asked him in a messed up effort to play it cool, or that one thing about their friendship she loved was how he was so honest with her. Nope, those things didn't matter in the least. All she could think was... Ouch.
How did he expect her to respond to his question? You bloody idiot! I'm mad! We've known each other for two years, through a dozen dances, and you've never asked me even once! We can't even go as friends because of all the stupid girls in your life! What about me? Am I the only girl that you manage to overlook? Why? She wanted to tell him what she had just thought, but she knew that wouldn't solve anything. The only way to get out of this mess was to do what Ludo usually did to her. Lie about her feelings.
"I'm not jealous that you are going with Ravenna, Ludo. I'm upset that you got a date before me," she said, taking a deep breath of air and dropping the rock she was squeezing back on the ground. "I'm so much better looking than you, yet I'm the single one." Mafalda smiled, to show she was pretending teasing. Good job. Play it off. Make a joke. He'll never know. Too bad the tension was still so thick you could cut it with a knife.

Accepted.
Lyra has been sorted into Slytherin.
My first pick was Hufflepuff, of course, by her seemingly and apparent pleasant nature, but as I read through your bio, I took in her past and just how double-sided she is. You have to be cunning to be able to pretend to be something you aren't, and you have to be manipulative to get what you want, just as Lyra's parents taught her. Two very out-standing Slytherin traits.
