The darkness almost concealed his walking form as he made his way towards The Whomping Willow and the tunnel that would take him to The Shrieking Shack which was thought to be the most haunted building in Britain. Of course Remus Lupin knew that the shack wasn’t haunted at all. It was occasionally occupied by something that in Lupin’s opinion was much worse and far more dangerous… Himself. He walked in trepidation towards the place that was created just for this purpose. The protections for the secret entrance was a insane and violent bit of shrubbery, that would squash the unwarily flat if they didn’t know how to pass by it unscathed. It was used often as a target for dares with the students of Hogwarts on a regular basis but not now. Now it was the object of Remus Lupin’s walking feet.
As his deep blue eyes made contact with his destination he ran a shaky pale hand through his slightly graying hair and looked towards the deepening sky. His steps quickened as he pulled out his wand and cast a silent spell towards the mad thrashing tree. It stopped it’s murderous attempts to throttle him instantly and he walked up to it vanishing from view. His eyes lost all sense of sight as he entered within its darkened interior. He wondered where his friends were. Sometimes he thought that this was probably Sirius’s favorite time of the month. Time for adventure and a exciting sort of danger. But for Moony it was a time of dread and a feeling of impending doom.
He could hear nothing but the sounds of his feet scuffing along the well worn underground passage as he continued on his way. As much as he detested what was to come within the next few hours when the moon shown within the darkness of the night sky he walked. After what seemed like an eternity of walking Remus finally came to a thick and highly barricade-able door. With a creak he pushed it open and started up the rickety stairs with a shaky tremor running through his body.
After arriving at the room that would house him in the thralls of agony that would soon follow. Remus once again held his wand. But this time instead of using it to incant spells of magic he walked over to a loose floor board that was laying haphazardly on the dusty floor. He took his wand looked at it for a moment before stopping down and stowing it away within the crevice that the board hid. After making sure it was secure in its hiding place he stood and walked over to the bed that lay in sight and flopped down on it in resignation. There he waited for his friends and there he waited for the night to close in around him and for it to make him forget what was about to happen.
