After ordering a buttbeer, Indigo looked around the entire room to try and find an empty seat. Finally finding one, she made her way towards it, dodging several second years running out the door and a man with two large glasses in each hand. Once making all the way to the back of the room she almost scoffed. Of course it was in the corner. Everything was always in the corner. Indi folded her pink miniskirt underneath her and sat down in one of the old wooden chairs, stirring a spoon in the drink slowly.
She'd come by herself to Hogsmede today, she felt like being on her own. Not she minded being around people as much as she used to, be being the type of girl she was she needed space from other girls. Indigo needed room to breath, as simple as that. She also thought that it was a good chance to sort things out in her head. Indi had almost forgotten how full the school really was and how everything moved at such a quick speed, you either kept up or got left in the dust. Her fingers moved around the rim of the cup, she hadn't drank a bit of it yet.
She always took her time with things, even when eating. Indigo ran a few fingers through the strands of her dark and long hair, trying to ease it from the tangles that often invaded. Biting her lip, she pulled out her wand and began to levitate the cup, it was more amusing than actually drinking it. After that got boring she pulled out a book and began to read. Sipping her drink for the first time she threw herself in it, for once not paying attention to the busy surroundings.

Yes, one of the perks of being a seventh year had to be the almost freedom one enjoyed in the Hogsmeade weekend trips. They were only given a certain time where they had to meet so they could all arrive at the castle at the same time. Of course it was 'for protection', considering that not everything was perfectly rosy anymore. So it was only a bittersweet victory in Ethan's behalf. But, he was used to the fact that nothing was uttlery perfect, ever. And what could he do about that? Absolutely bloody nothing. He had to conform. The thought made him narrow his eyes. He'd never been one to settle for second less. That wasn't how things worked for him, or for anyone of the Cartiers, really. But he was too tired to figth against it. Besides, he wasn't sure he could. It wasn't as if it was in his hands to change the whole course of...things. Scowling as he stalked through the main street of Hogsmeade, his hands fisted deeply into his robe pockets, his good mood was temporarily dampened by his thoughts. But he refused to let it be like that for long. After all, he hated feeling down. So determinedly, he quickened his pace. Perhaps going to the Three Broomsticks would help. The raucous and infectious laughter that spilled into Ethan's ears as soon as he stepped in, made him feel in a better mood almost instantly.
Making his way over, he ordered a butterbeer, like half of the students that were already there, and turned to scan the pub. A familiar face wouldn't be bad at all. He was in dire need of some company. Spotting Indigo next, could only be a lucky spot of gold. Yes, there was history there, which was the whole reason as to why Ethan observed her before deciding to walk over to her table. He had to bite back a chuckle when he saw her start levitating her cup. She wouldn't do that if she was on a date. Of course, also, a date wouldn't have ever left her for such a long time. Ethan knew that first hand. When he had been dating Indigo, he hadn't been able to stay away for long. It was like that with Indi. She was too pretty, too smart for her own good.
So, it was with a charming half grin that he decided to walk over to her and take a seat across from her, completely uninvited. "Hey," he said casually, taking the book from her hands and placing it quietly beside her mug. Now, he was sure she had her full attention. And that was exactly what he had been looking for. "Out on a date?" They would talk--or at least Ethan hoped so--and they would both remember why it had been so good to date each other, even if it hadn't lasted that much, and they'd remember why they were such good friends still, up to date. Those were safe territories, right? It wasn't as if Ethan was worried he would start crushing on Indigo all over again. Nope, not at all.

It was a muggle book, and thought she couldn't hold back her dislike, she didn't hate all muggles. A one group that she didn't hate at all were writers. They had something unique about them that made them different from all the rest. They were real and wrote what they felt. To have something like that was what Indigo wanted. Indi wanted to be able to just let her feelings about, but that wasn't going to happen. She just wasn't that type of person. Turning the page she smelt a familiar scent and paused. In return she got her book removed from her hands and placed down on the table in front of her.
Indi just looked at it for a moment and then up at the one person she was hoping to avoid. For the love of all that was good in the world, couldn't anything go her way? Just once? That was really all she was asking. Out on a date? Indi raised her eyebrow and shook her head slowly. "I don't generally date books." She smiled a little, putting the book in her purse so it wouldn't get spilled on. "I wanted to get away from Hogwarts for a little while, so I came here. But it seems, Hogwarts as found me." Indigo gestured to the numberous students that had flooded the place. "I think I probably should have known better" She smiled again, this time wider. Two smiles in a row, amazing. He always made her smile, even when he didn't say a word.
She hadn't been avoiding him because she was upset with Ethan. On the contrary they were still really good friends. Under any other circumstance she'd be more than happy to see him after a summer of seeing no one at all. The only problem was about half way through Indi realized she'd missed him a lot more than any one else. That was a problem to her, and she was trying to push that away. Obviously, failing. Spinning her spoon in the cup once again she peered over at him. "And why are you at Hogsmede by yourself? Should I be worried your date is going to come over at yell at me?" She smirked.

Ethan smirked. Oh, how he loved this girl's sense of humor. She had the perfect sense of humor to be able to tolerate him for long periods of time. It also made him forget small things...or big things in this case. The previous topic of thought in his mind completely forgotten now as he arched an eyebrow at her, mocking in this light way. "Well, I'm pretty sure dating a book would be less dull than some of your previous dates," he said in an offhand manner, though his eyes flashed with repressed amusement. So he was mocking her choice of dates, so what? He was self-deprecating at times, he did realize that. But he compensated those moments by being an arrogant jerk at times. He was the two sides of the coin most of the time, so he was an (un)balanced sort of fellow. Annoying and a total jerk one minute, sweet and a gentleman the next. It was really hilarious to see the other people's reaction to that.
"No, love, Hogwarts didn't find you," Ethan wagged a finger in a negative way in front of her face. "Only I did. Or do you have anyone else randomly walking up to your table to make small chat?" He smiled charmingly at her, his whole face lighting up as he studied her own. She was so pretty. Did she ever acknowledge that? She carried herself gracefully and there was this quality in her that made most people like her. It had been a long summer, indeed, and Ethan did realize somewhere in the back of his mind, that he had missed having Indigo around. She had always been an unconditional around his life ever since they met, and not seeing her during the summer had left Ethan with too much time around in his hands.
"Oh yes, you do have to worry about my non-existent date coming and hexing your pretty robes off," Ethan scoffed, rolling his eyes toward the ceiling. Strangely, it was true. He didn't have a date for this weekend, and it surprised him. Certainly it wasn't for lack of popularity if he said so himself (having Sirius and James as roommates certainly did something for your self-esteem), but somehow he just wasn't...interested. Now, how to explain it? How to explain that Indigo was the only interest in his--oops, better not go there, Ethan. Eyes widening minimally as that thought crossed his mind, Ethan shook his head. Hadn't they gone through that phase already? No, Ethan, let's try to not repeat that, shall we? he thought with a sad smile. It would bring too many complications he wasn't up for at the moment. He wanted to be happy for a while thank you very much.
"You of all people should be aware of my love life, Indi," Ethan cooed, mockingly sweet. "We all know how aware you are of me." Ha! Wishful thinking, boy, he thought sourly. Yeah, yeah, so maybe he was still attracted to his ex and current good friend. Wasn't that like, normal? He enjoyed fighting with her, he loved the way she just wouldn't shut up to one of his comments like most of the girls would, and well, that was the whole reason they were still friends, weren't they? They spent most of their time together arguing like children. It was amusing and entertaining. Ethan knew from experience that he could go on and on for hours with Indigo, unless someone put a tired stop to them. Because it was the people surrounding them that got tired of their snips.

Indigo let her mouth fall open, not only for the totally unecessary comment that came from his lips but because she was shocked she hadn't seen that one coming. You see, there's one thing Indigo Grace and Ethan Cartier like more than anything in the world, and that was fighting with one another. She found it exsasperating, since generally she let things go, but for some reason whatever he said she had to counter balance it. He drove Indi absolutely crazy with nearly everything he did......and always made her want more. Love/hate sort of thing you see.
"Well, at least I have dates" She answer cooly, a double blow for his first and second comment all rolled into one. "Why Cartier, didn't you know? I have people talking to me all the time. I'm quite the social butterfly." Wrong. Indi batted her eyes before rolling them softly. She wasn't one to be in a large group, and getting her to put faith in you was about the hardest think you'll ever do. Placing an elbow up on the table she leaned her chin on it lightly, staring at him. "Hexing my clothes off? You'd like that wouldn't you" She smirked a little at that one. "Though I don't see one anywhere......shame." Indi added suggestively and then bit her tongue. She ought to turn it off before she started flirting with the gorgeous blue-eyed brunette.
"I haven't been aware of your love life since last year darling. Kissed anyone new lately?" She was slightly a busy body at times. Not that she honestly wanted to know, it would just make her steamed. As placid as she seemed it wasn't good to have someone like Indi turn on you, especially when you were another girl. Especially when you were another girl hanging around Ethan. Errr bad idea on their part. Several times she found herself checking him out and every time she looked away. No, Indigo was a determined girl. No. Erm......ok really, looking wasn't hurting anyone. As long as she just looked and didn't touch, how much did it matter? She took another sip from her mug and placed it back down on the table in its wet ring on the dampened wood. "How was your...summer."

"You do?" Ethan asked, pretending to be genuinely puzzled. "That's strange. I thought that for you to be going on dates, you'd have to be with someone else. And I don't see anyone." Wrinkling his nose in faked confusion, Ethan looked around. "Or am I missing something?" So maybe he was exaggerating a bit, considering that they had cleared the fact that she wasn't on a date (it hadn't been verbally, but after all, Ethan had decided that nobody read on a date. Not even a Ravenclaw, much less Indigo), but it was fun trying to rile her up. Trying being the key word because it was rare for him to actually get Indigo in an uncontrolled state. That didn't happen often, let me tell you.
He drummed his fingers against the table and with his other hand took a swig from his ice-cold butterbeer. "Yeah," he admitted with a smirk and half a shrug. "We both know how much I'd like that." He arched an eyebrow at her, daring her to be outraged at the comment. It was obvious Ethan was testing the waters, trying to see Indigo's limits. From experience, it was only the most outrageous comments that made her really hoppin' mad, but well, one could have changed over a summer, right? It would be completely justified. Besides, he was starting to flirt with her. Not only because he was interested, but because to him, it was a second nature. It was almost a reflex. Like laughing...and Merlin, had he just compared flirting to laughing?
Yeah, Indigo had some negative repercussions in his subtle art of thinking. Which, contrary to popular belief, did exist. "Wouldn't you like to go?" he asked, the smirk returning full force. It was becoming like a plague, this smirking business. Or perhaps he was spending too much time with his dormmates. Whichever the reason, Ethan often found himself smirking unconsciously. Another annoying reflex. Frowning he downed his butterbeer and signaled for another one. "My summer, Indigo? How utterly normal. One would think someone with the name Indigo could come up with another topic for small talk with her ex-boyfriend than 'how was your summer'?" And yes, he was being too tacky with her. So with a sigh and a clear of throat later, he rephrased that. "My summer was...tiring, to say the least. More training," he ended offhandedly. Indigo was aware of his Duelling training, so he didn't feel the need to go into detail about it. Summers were never just fun around the Cartier household.

Always being the type to keep a relatively cool composure she glanced around once with him. "I am with someone else. He's just you know, slaving away in the kitchens, preparing a romantic candle light dinner for us." She smirked, her lie was evident but she hadn't been trying to cover it up. The only time Indi lied was when she knew the other could tell, she hated lying to cover things up. "Hmmm...something someone else never did." Indigo pretended to be dumbfounded as to who that was.
She took off her overcoat and hung it up on the backrest of her chair, making sure to flick her long brown hair in the process. Indigo continued to play with it, running the trussels through her fingers she paid little attention to her butterbeer anymore. Biting her lip she didn't say anything at his next comment, she really couldn't. After all, Indi really Would like to see Him with when his robes got hexed off. Hrm....two points to Ethan, negative one to Indigo.. "Well...." Indi sniffed. "Whatever." Wow....it probably would have been better not to say anything at all, at least she wouldn't have looked defeated.
"Yes." She slipped again, clearly she wasn't at her best game to day. "But really, what does it matter to me who you snog?" She waved it off with her delicate hand and a smirk. Pushing her hair back once again she opened her eyes wider. "One has to wonder what you have to expect from an ex-girlfriend. What other subject I could come up with that would suit you Ethan Cartier." Indigo liked to use full names, it sounded more.....something.
She smiled as he gave in and gave her an answer, however short. One point for Indigo. "You didn't ask how my summer was, so I'll tell you. It was terribly boring, duller than an unsharpened muggle pencil. Occasionally, it was worthwhile. I got to plant several trees, and donated to the animal cruelty charity fund." She smiled sincerly, this was really what she liked to do. Also...I went on vacation for a bit. Met a very handsome guy. Needless to say I had a wonderful time" She emphasized wonderful. Indigo was searching his eyes, looking for anything. Maybe a little jealous? One could only hope.

Ethan hated lies. He absolutely loathed them. And for some reason, he had the gift of being able to tell when someone was lying simply by looking straight into his or her eyes. The thought of being lied to normally made him see red. Those were one of the things he couldn't tolerate. It was also one of the things that managed to make him lose his cool. Ethan knew that Indigo knew this. Also, he knew that Indigo was aware of his limits. It was normal, that when bantering, some random lie would slip out, for the sake of keeping up an argument if not for anything else. Ethan had done it on several occasions, so he didn't mind it much on other people. The trouble came when the lie was about something serious. So when Indigo mentioned something about someone slaving away in the kitchens, he couldn't help but burst into laughter. "Oh really? I, for one, can be completely at peace now, knowing that unless my ex girlfriend," as he emphasized the word, he shot a discreet look at Indigo, trying to gauge her reaction. "Is dating a house elf, I've got nothing to worry about." He knew when to turn up the charm. Sometimes it was too easy for him to fall into the laid-back cool demeanor of the gentleman he had been drilled into being.
Tracing random patterns in the wood with the drops of sweat from the cold butterbeer, Ethan looked up again when Indigo adressed him. He had to laugh again with the lame 'whatever' that came from her. Was she actually letting go of the subject just like that? Aw, shame. It would've been so much fun to tease her about it. "Not used to guys being straight-forward with you, friend?" he asked with ease, cocking his head to the right and observing her closely, how she was toying with her hair and biting her lip. A precious girl, really. In response to her removing her overcoat, Ethan rolled up the sleeves of his robe, revealing his cursive tattoo and leaning in with his shoulders on the table top. "Well, I don't know, why don't you tell me, Grace? After all, it was you who brought up the specific topic of my love life." That wasn't entirely true either, but well, Ethan was used to twisting things so that they'd be in his favor. "And what does us having used to date have to do with anything at all? We're still friends, are we not?" he asked silkily. If truth be told, even though Ethan kept telling himself that Indigo was a friend, he still wouldn't get her down from the 'crush' shelf he had kept her deeply rooted in. He had liked her for too long to actually forget about it so easily. That didn't mean he was pining after her, oh no. That wasn't like him at all. Things had ended for a reason, reasons which both of them were aware of, so everything was ok.
"Indi, love, I didn't ask you about your summer because I don't have a care in the world as to how you spent your time. Though now that you've seen fit to inform me of it anyway, I at least am pleased to hear that even though I spent too many hours training, I still managed to have a far more entertaining holiday than you did." Not really the truth, because Ethan had always liked her quirks about loving nature and what-not, and had come to respect her for it, but well, if one was trying to annoy someone, the least he or she could do was to push all the wrong buttons. Just to get a rise out of her. "And I think it's wonderful you had a wonderful time with this wonderful guy in this wonderful place, I'm sure. But I barely deem it appropriate for you to be going around, telling everyone about this 'wonderful' guy when I don't see him anywhere. One would think you a liar, Indigo Grace," he said softly, staring straight into her eyes.

She knew he hated lies. Oh how she knew it. Of course that played a big part in the reason she lied. Indi hated lies herself, one of the things the two shared in common. However she thought in that case, she could make an acception. Seeing the flicker in his eyes was enough to leave her fully satisfied about it. That is until he brought out the big guns and began to critize her full on. Something Indigo hated was to be insulted. "A house elf? Certainly not. They're like my pets, I adore them in every way....but not like that" She scrunched up her face.
"Being straight forward is something you've always given me isn't it?" He wasn't the type of guy who beat around the bush that was for certain. Everything he was saying now she couldn't think of a comeback for. It's like suddenly this year her tongue was tied in a knot and she couldn't get it undone. She lacked her usually flare for witty remarks and quotes from famous poets. Anything she used to use went completely out the window and Indi couldn't find it. Maybe it was just Ethan that made her way. Completely and utterly tongue tied. He had a way of doing that, just looking at him was enough to make a girl weak in the knees.
"Friends? Curious question. Though a battle of wits to most people would hardly be called a friendship. But, since ours has always been this way, then I suppose we are." Friends. They were of course, friends to the end. She had an awful time with it though, when she still wanted to be so much more. It wouldn't work though, just like their friendship barely had enough to work. "Well, if we're being brutually honest here" She inserted a smirk, her steely eyes gazing at his, "I brought up the topic simply because I wanted a little humor. I figured it would be humerous enough." Ouch.
He got back her at a quickened speed, and she hardly had time to react at the next subject. Indi's eyes simply narrowed to a slit when he said he still managed to have more fun then she need. He used to tell her that was part of what made her interesting. Psh. Running a long fingernail along the side of her face she listened with a bored expression, yawning inbetween. At the last part her head flipped up and she glared at him. He'd done it. "A liar? Is that truely what you make of me Ethan Cartier? Do I really, seem that undatable to you that no guy would want me? I'm so sorry for boring you." She answered with such iceness it was surprising his butterbeer hadn't frozen. She actually looked slighty hurt though, something had seeped through.

He was in dangerous territory now, wasn't he? That look in Indigo's eyes couldn't possibly one of amusement. Hmm, what to do now? Backing up would only mean admitting defeat, and Ethan was too proud of that. Besides, it seemed he had picked too much on Indigo's sensible topics, but...plow on he must. After all, the girl should be used to it by now. That was on what their relationship was based on, wasn't it? Arguing and just battling in general. It was all about two proud and stubborn Gryffindors who vented their physical attraction on arguments that drove everyone up the wall. But, Ethan didn't have proof that that phsyical attraction was one-sided. For all he knew, Indigo wasn't lying about that 'wonderful' guy. Or whatever. The bloke wasn't around. "Battle of wits? Indigo dear, that's how we work. Hadn't you noticed that?" he asked in a condescending manner, almost as if he was speaking to a child. He was stooping too low just to keep the argument going. Perhaps he should stop soon...?
"Well, if we're being brutually honest here, I brought up the topic simply because I wanted a little humor. I figured it would be humorous enough." Blast her. There was absolutely no way he was going to stop now. This was war, and she had declared it herself. Eyes glinting, Ethan leaned across the table, his eyes glaring at Indigo's. "You would know about humorous with your previous experience wouldn't you? We both know our relationship was always laughable at best." Hey, that happened to hurt him too, so it was justified. She wanted to pull out the long hexes, then she would be strong enough to not end up crying. Not that he would ever make her cry. That was just too much for him. He had never been able to handle weeping females.
Shrugging lazily, Ethan leaned back, afraid that if he kept that short distance for much longer, he'd end up kissing her and somehow, he was sure that wouldn't look good for his sarcastic quips about her love life. "I never said you were undatable," he said, matching her tone and her glare. "After all, we did date you know. And even if you do refuse to acknowledge it, we did make a good couple. You were just too shut off in your own Indi world to actually realize it. But that's fine. I guess you're used to people shutting you off by now, no?" They had replenished his drink sometime during his retorting, so he licked his lips and took a drink, not once breaking the stare with the girl sitting across from him. How was it that she managed to fire him up? He was thirsty, and his throat felt dry...and it was always like this with her. It was as if he couldn't control what his tongue kept lashing out and...they both knew that wasn't the worst they had ever said to each other. Many times, their small harmless quips would turn into a full-blown shouting argument, with mean hexes being thrown on both parts, so right now, they were playing it cool. But that didn't mean Ethan wasn't tensing up for what was surely to come next. After all, Indigo was never the kind of girl to keep quiet.
What would she do if he leaned across the table to kiss her?
Don't go there Ethan...

The two weren't exactly playing anymore, which was what they risked everytime they did this. Sometimes it could get quite nasty. They literally drove others to the boiling point by merely fighting in the same room with them. It wasn't friendly and it wasn't kind.....both weren't willing to give it up. They were Gryffindors at heart, and one of the few things Gryffindors were known for not doing was backing down. Indigo was holding her ground. After all, it could have been worse....much worse. She vividly remembered a time when they were dating that she got so mad she hexed him, making him have boils sprout up all over his body. Indi smiled at this right now. He'd deserved it.
He better be careful or they'd have a repeat. "Yes little boy I had. I hoped that somehow, though it would be quite the miracle, we could rid ourselves of that at least partially. Seeing as how we're big kids now and all." She smiled sour-sweet, returning the same tone he'd used on her. It bothered her more to be sure, seeing as she was a sixth year and he a seventh, Ethan was the older one. But really, who was more mature? ......alright, so neither of them were very mature. Indigo licked her lips and finished the last of her butterbeer, finally pushing it aside to get out of her way to stare him down. They often did that, see who would look away first. When it got serious enough, even blink.
She wasn't going to cry, not ever. Indi wouldn't cry in front of another, no matter how much she took something to heart. She was teetering rather close, but she wasn't going to break that easily, she had promised herself. "I think we can both agree on that one.....it was entirely ridiculous. How can you date when you can't stand the person you're dating?" She smirked with an exsasperated tone for good measure. There was never too much drama from Indigo. "We made an....alright couple" She compromised, not even willing to give in on that one. "If I shut everyone out so much, then why are you even bothering to still talk to me? Seeing as I'm a hopeless case" She added bitterly.
That was complete truth what he said. Indi pushed people, pushed them as far away as she could possibly get them. She didn't want to go getting hurt. What she never realized was that it hurt her far worse by doing it. Merlin she couldn't take it! He was making her head spin. She had several thoughts on pulling her wand out and turning him into a goat so she wouldn't have to talk to him anymore. Ex on that thought, it wouldn't be fair to the goats. And then another thought popped into her head. An uninvited one that should have been shooed away sooner. He was soo hot when he was angry. She couldn't stop looking at this....well this jerk right? She did the unthinkable. Pausing for a moment between insults she reached over and grabbed him by the front of the shirt, pulling him half way across the table she kissed him. Not exactly lady like. "I hate you" She murmered into his lips.

Lazily, Ethan smiled, letting the grin take its time in spreading on his lips. "Well, actually, there's only one wizard at this table who is actually of age," he said pleasantly, Charming up some pixie dust just to show off that he could. "So let's not show off about being the adults you most definitely are not, alright, Indi love?" he mocked, touching the tip of her nose lightly with his index finger in a despective manner. Oh, he could go on and on about how much he enjoyed torturing her, but really, it was obvious that he did, so what was the point in repeating it? He was pretty sure Indigo knew it too, since she enjoyed torturing just as much, if not a tad more. The girl could throw one hell of a hex, and Ethan almost winced in recollection. Though he had been defenseless at the time. He refused to go all mean on her. At least not totally.
Oh, but he'd standed her. He'd 'standed' her for too long actually. It didn't matter that normal people would call that standing actually liking, but in their world it only meant they could tolerate each other more than what was absolutely necessary. It meant that even though he didn't admit it consciously, subconsciously, he was aware of how he seeked Indigo out in the hallways, in between classes, during meals...it was an exhorbitant amount of time spent on Indigo Grace if Ethan said so himself, but he also admitted that she was worth it.
...sometimes. "Because even though we couldn't shut up long enough to actually be able to snog decently, I think you're kinda alright, Indigo Grace. You with your bloody annoying loud mouth and nasty hexes, are more than a bit alright though. But if you ever repeat that, I'll make sure to make the world a better place by hexing your vocal chords off." Smiling sweetly at her, he twirled his wand between his fingers, as if needing to prove a point. What was he doing? It was a fairly good question, seeing as he himself didn't understand where he stood with Indigo at the moment, and most probably never would know. The girl was unpredictable and somewhat volatile, if you asked his opinion. Her answer to that would probably be "But I didn't ask for it, so shut up." or something along those snarky lines. Man, was she bloody awesome, or what?
Ethan had lost track of what his mouth kept spewing, knowing only that he was concentrating on making her lose her composed cool. It didn't matter what he kept repeating, or what he said, he just wanted a reaction. Was that too much to ask? Was it? His mind went completely blank when Indigo leaned across the table, pulled the front of his clothes and...kissed him. Hard. He didn't react for a moment, but when she murmured about hating him against his lips, he snapped into action. "As much as I do, love," he murmured as he pulled back a fraction of an inch, and then kissed her again. It had been such a long time since he'd done it, he had forgotten just how much he enjoyed Indigo Grace.

"Age as in a level of maturity, instead of one's physical date of birth. That, you do not have anything over me with. In fact, it's something you seriously seem to be lacking....dear." Her eyes widened as he touched the tip of her nose, Indigo wrinkling it instinctively. "Would you like to keep that finger? If not, then by all means do it again." She threatened, still sounding like a calm person, but all at the same time her eyes blazed. Obviously he was on a fine line, etching at Indi's last nerve.
What a frustrating boy! She honestly couldn't see how she standed him. Maybe it was the fact of their history. But then again she delt with him before that time. Maybe, because it's the way it had always been. Or, maybe it was because they were in the same house so she felt she had a duty to tolerate. Of course it all had to do with a little bit of each of those reasons, as well as a very large one. That some how, some way, he managed to make her like him. A lot. It's almost as if she liked the fact he could match her in wit. Of course Indigo wouldn't admit to the fact that he was just as good, if not better, at pulling a fast one on a person. His looks couldn't help the situation either, how do you resist that face?
Ooooh! Couldn't snog decently?! The nerve. Of all the bloody nerve. She could snog very well thank you. Indigo had lots of practice, even if she didn't have lots of practice with him, apparently. "But I didn't ask for it, so shut up." She answered smugly, and then scowled at the change in his facial expression. He just knew she was going to say that didn't he? the only way to solve this situation, had been to kiss him. She wasn't sure why exactly she'd had kissed him, expect that she wanted to.
Smirking as he kissed her back, for once his mouth was turned off. First time during this whole conversation that he hardly had anything to say. Hmph, not a good snogger. Indigo couldn't help but linger in his kiss, she had to admit, it was good. Wow, Indi, get some control. She smirked at him and opened her eyes. "Well, that shut you up now didn't it." She ran her fingers across his face and then let go, teasing, she sat all the way back in her chair once again.

It seemed that all that Ethan did around Indigo right now was laugh. But she just made it so hard for him to be sober and serious. Her wit amused him to no end, and instead of taking offense like a lot of people would do, he just appreciated it as the showcase of intellect it really was. True, half of the time he would willingly strangle her just to get her to stop, but what would the fun be in that? It was a curious battle, the one they were always fighting. It seemed as if no one ever really won, and each contender was left with a bittersweet aftertaste. Or at least Ethan knew that he did. It was sometimes wistful, though he'd be dead before he admitted to that. Not even to Lily did he confess the fact that sometimes (just sometimes, mind you), he still thought of Indigo as his girlfriend. It had to with having had something once and not wanting to let go of it because it's yours dammit. Yeah, it was a tad bit of a macho attitude, but Ethan hadn't admitted it aloud to anyone, not even to himself. The subconscious was a dangerous zone for him and right now, going in a trip down memory lane would be highly inconvenient. At least for the moment. If later on it was required to get himself out of a tough spot, then by all means he would. But right now things were balancing too steeply for him to play that specific card.
He sat back too, interlacing his hands at top of the table and grinning like a Cheshire cat. "Well, now I can say I've snogged you nice and proper, can't I?" he retorted slyly, the grin still firmly in place. Indi was right, that had shut him up because how could one answer back to a kiss? There was no earthly way to do that without coming off as a total fool and/or jerk. Two things that Ethan could gladly be if the occasion came up, but somehow, right now, he was sure that wouldn't strike a responsive and positive response from Indigo. Staring at her, he was sure of that. Nope, not at all. "And don't you say you didn't like it, 'cause you did too," he said with his slightly accented voice. He missed his French talking relatives... And his thoughts were straying.
Focus Ethan, FOCUS.
He shook his head at himself and tilted his head as he observed Indigo. He'd be blasted before he would be able to decipher this girl. But that was all part of the game. Ethan was willing to bet half of his pocket money (which wasn't that much) that there wouldn't be as much tension and attraction as there was if Indigo didn't pose such an unsolved and uncomprehended mystery to him. What guy didn't revel in the chase of the unknown? Though perhaps that was stretching things. He could easily identify himself with Indigo on some aspects, and well... It was all vicious circle really. One they'd gone over way too many times for him to actually account for, but this was a fairly transited road. Ethan hadn't made much out of the kiss, had he? Yes, he was aware that it could mean absolutely nothing. Or that it had, but both were pretending it hadn't just for the sake of some stability in their so-called 'friendship', which had always been on shaky grounds, and sometimes bordering on the friends with benefits.
That was how strange it had all become. Ethan was sure they made some of their acquaintances' heads spin with their on and off things and how sometimes they seemed like they were a couple, but in reality they weren't and well, confusion was always running aplenty around both. There wasn't much to be said or done about it, all he could do was sigh and wonder what this mad witch would come up with next. "Sometimes I think you have this unhealthy obsession for me, you know," he drawled, his eyes sparkling in challenge for her to take the bait into another argument.

(wow, these are getting soo long....*gasps* It's hard! lol)
Definitely at her wits end now. Indigo was having the most gruesome time thinking of comebacks. Maybe it was all the stress over the long holiday, she'd had to hold her tongue for so long she couldn't get it back. Perhaps not, but it was an excuse she would hold onto if she couldn't think of anything better. Biting the end of her long fingernail, painted a soft brown, she studied him. Every feature there was, trying to detect what he was thinking. All his features were very well known to her at this point, and Indigo was getting better at catching a thought that reached his face. However, none seemed willing to appear at the current moment. Drat. Wait.....did she detect a flicker of annoyance? Maybe not, she could be seeing things at this point.
She got distracted as Indi looked down at her fingernail, she'd just made a jagged crack down the middle. Her eyebrows furrowed, aghast that it would dare break on her. Not so good of a day after all, it was turning out to be. "If that was nice and proper snogging Ethan, I'm deeply concerned for your future girls. Extremely short I must say." Indigo came back with a nice and airy reply, shrugging her shoulders to add to it. "Ahhh you don't know me as well as you thought" She smirked smugly. "I wasn't going to say I didn't enjoy it, because I did. And I'm not a liar." ...Most of the time. She also wasn't going to say she was willing to repeat it though, it would just confuse the hell out of everyone else at Hogwarts. Constantly around one another, people kept pestering her, inquiring if she was dating Ethan or if he was free. Her response? 'No I'm not dating him, so obviously he's single...Is he free? Well.....certainly not to you." Not like she could help it, he was her man. Even if he wasn't.
The two were thinking constantly, it was part of the game. To see who could think quicker and more productively than the other one. She had to admit, for a Gryffindor boy, he was very smart and witty. His comebacks were worthy of a Ravenclaw boy. She didn't usually like those though....they were too smart, drove Indi crazy. Indigo let out a very long and dramatic sigh. Was she actually getting sick of the bantering? Perhaps she was a little tired of fighting with him. No...Indi wouldn't admit it. Her conclusion was that she had had far too little rest over the holidays. The truth was, that last year fighting never got old. Because of course, making up was the best part. "Obession you think I have..hmm..." She tapped her fingers against the table, an annoyingly abrupt sound. "Who's the one who found me in all of Hogsmede, and bothered to sit down and take the time to fight?"
