Scott sat, sat staring out onto the lake. He wondered what magical (and not) creatures were living there. The giant squid sailed silently over the placid water. His legs were long and laid out, his toes near the edge. He didn't want to put his toes in, he didn't know what was in there. Thatw as his reason for thinking that thought.
The whomping willow was whacking around but it was still fairly small, only planted a few years ago. He had a few thoughts blurring round his head lately. What was the tree for? You couldn't get anywhere near it. Was it guarding something? Keeping people out? He had seen nothing go near it, go in it or come from it. It was known that there was a gap between the roots that looked big enough for a human to fit through, it wasn't known (not by him anyway) where it went.
He shook his head and lay down. The clouds floated over him, the pleasant blue sky bore a white circle, the sun. It gaxed down upon him burning through his robes. It was fairly warm, not hot and not cold. No rainclouds were around, not for miles anyway. Other students were doing the same as him, none he knew though.

((OoC: Hope you don't mind me joining.)) The air was still and there was a bit of a silence around the lake. There were others there, but it seemed everyone was content with silence, which was something Alexander McEvoy often could not stand when there were people around. However, this time was an exception. He had just gotten out of the library where he had experienced a charm that had made the voices of the Slytherin girl and Ravenclaw boy who were talking even louder and he simply couldn't stand their words. So he escaped, slipping away when he figured they weren't paying anymore attention to him. The only time they even looked at him was when he nearly killed the Slytherin with his books. The Ravenclaw never looked at him...Well, that he knew of.
Alex made his way to the lake, looking out into the still water which only rippled when a fish swam by. It was rumored there was a giant squid out there and this was the first time Alex had been there. He saw the squid and shuddered a little. He dropped his books on the ground next to him with his bag and continued to stare out into the lake, moving his robes a little before he finally took a seat near the edge, wrapping his arms around his knees and bringing them to the top so he could rest his chin half on his arm, half on his knee. It was lonely for the young boy without the friends he had made. He still had not seen a single hair of Ryan or Andy...And Andy was in the same house as him!
Whatever the reason not seeing these two boys, Alex felt lonely. He knew he couldn't always depend on those two boys to be around considering they were older and were probably looking around for lady friends, probably forgetting other friends in the process. Alex felt he would never understand why all the older guys were at their hands and knees for all the girls, but maybe it was because Alex hadn't entirely gone through puberty that he was still confused. He just hadn't reached the point where he'd be interested in girls. Maybe that was a good thing?
Well, whatever the reasons, Alex was still feeling lonely as he let out a gentle sigh and watched the water. He wanted a storm to come and bring wind to flow through his hair and move the water. He hated the stillness. The hate filled his chest until he picked up a rock and threw it in the water, no where near the squid, mind you, but threw it in the water just to make some movement of the boring stillness.
Alexander McEvoy hated the silent stillness.

(ooc-nah, its fine!)
More people were coming around the lake. People Scott had never seen before. Scott Marquis often didn't get noticed so the fact that hardly anyone came to him wasn't a surprise. The squid was cruising, slightly out of the water now and a few of its tentacles were waving around. Scott shuddered at the thought of what it could do to anything it caught. He was fascinated by magical creatures, had been ever since he received a book that could move! Water creatures especially interested him and that is why he was here today.
A few ripples erupted from a rock thrown by a small boy, he looked lonely. Scott knew how he felt, he had no real friends, just people he knew to say 'hi' to. He looked over to him and wondered what year and house he was in. Scott being in ravenclaw wanted more friends in ravenclaw however a different house wouldn't be too bad either. He just generally wanted more friends. Should he go see him? No, he was shy. He sighed and kicked an amount of rubble into the placid expanse of water and looked over to the forbidden forest. He had never been in there. He had never wanted to.
His face came back to the boy. Well, what could he do? They both be lonely or they have a few minutes of speech and maybe a laugh. He stood up, treading on a few daisies and walked over to him. "Erm, hey?" said Scott feebly. He held out his hand to shake, he preferred to be formal.

Alex let out a little evil laugh when the water moved at his rock and then noticed it moved more as the boy nearby had kicked a few rocks in. The boy's innocent eyes looked up at the other boy walked over, their eyes locking for a moment. Alex was hesitant when the boy held out his hand but after a second of fighting with his mind and saying the boy wouldn't bite...Maybe...He reached up and took Scott's hand, shaking it.
"Yoh. The name's Alexander McEvoy, Alex if you will. Third year Hufflepuff."
Mr. Information, Alex could be...When he so chose to. This boy was much nicer than the Ravenclaw from the library, Alex decided, and offered a grin up at him.
"Take a seat. I don't bite...Much..." He laughed at his attempt at a joke, hoping he hadn't scared off the boy.

(OOC: I think Bella needs some interaction with people...on good terms. I hope you don't mind ^^
It had been a bad day for Bella, a pop quiz and a pile of homework from History of Magic and an A on her Transfiguration test, it was simply disgusting. She loathed History of Magic with a passion but Transfiguration was another thing. The subject wasn't the problem, it was just that she was in an Advanced level and the things the teacher was presently teaching was things she had already learned. She got annoyed with all the stupid questions that was asked, and often ditched class to go read advanced books in the library. Usually, when Bella needed comfort or some time to relax and get some quality thinking time, she would go to the courtyard or library. But today, she had found them both too crowded and she hardly wanted to go to the common room as it was too risky. Bella couldn't take any risks being caught crying. If she were to go to the common room and break down, it would attract attention and unwanted sympathy. She didn't want pity. It was not right for her to ruin people's good days with her problems.
She sighed, there was one last option. The lake. She knew it would be quiet there, and the thought of seeing the giant squid again brightened her day just a bit. Though the squid scared many people, it hadn't frightened her at all. It was so dark and enchanting in her eyes, she couldn't believe that people found it scary. It had been so long since Bella last saw it. She remembered her first encounter with it during her first year. She had seen it with Edward, her twin brother. Edward. The dreariness returned, she and Edward hardly ever talked these days. Only a few hello's and goodbyes escaped their lips when they saw each other, it was as if their house differences were pulling them apart. Bella shook away the thought. She and Edward would always be family, no matter their house differences and besides she was still in the hallway. If she was going to be depressed, she would have to wait until she reached the lake or when no one was around. Crying was a weakness. If anyone saw her cry, especially a Sytherin, they could use it against her. Like a loose canon ready to blow in her face at any time.
The sound of water woke her from her thoughts. She was near the lake. Bella smiled, she was going to be perfectly fine. She could see the giant squid swimming about in the water below. It was as magnificent as she first saw it. Then she noticed two guys sitting near the waters edge. Her heart dropped. She would have to control her emotions after all. She sighed, this was the best she would get today. Her smile returned after she saw that the students were not Slytherin. As she slowly edged closer, Bella's breath quickened. Why was she so nervous? They looked like they were only third years. "Hello," she said, making sure to smile and keep her poise "What are you two doing down here?" Though she was talking to them, she couldn't help but look up at the giant squid. It was so magnificent. She wanted to walk up to it and touch it. "Did you come to see the giant squid" she asked coolly, still not taking her eyes off the creature. She wouldn't be surprised if they said no. It was common for most people to fear the squid. No one could or will ever understand why Bella felt so attached to the squid, not even her own brother. It was as if they were blind to the squids hidden beauty and only saw the dangerous mask it wore. Bella sighed and turned to gaze unwillingly into the eyes of the third years with her calm purple ones. She didn't want to remove her gaze from the squid, but establishing the reputation "squid lover" wasn't really one of her goals. She knew that gazing at them so deeply might dazzle them but what else could she do? Her only other option was to stare at the squid and that really wasn't on her to do list. Though she wouldn't mind staring at the squid....for hours and hours. It was such a magnificent creature.
