Regulus Black exited the castle of Hogwarts with a heavy sigh. He ran a slender hand through his thick dark hair, looking up to the sky. Regulus wasn't sleeping well. Since he was a child Regulus was plagued with occasional bouts of insomnia. Though it was never truly insomnia, but Regulus refused to admit the truth. That his dreams were haunted and he woke at night in a cold sweat afraid that what he had just seen had been far too real to only be a dream.
Regulus could feel pain in his dreams. Not just emotional pain, but physical pain. In the dream it would be excruciating, as if it were real, he could sometimes even feel blood seeping from his wounds. When he woke their would be no mark, but there would still be pain. Nothing like what it had been whilst he slept, but a pain none the less. Last night had been one of those nights.
The pain had ceased now. It was gone before he sat down for breakfast, but the dream had not left Regulus. As with all his dreams it was hard to really recall much of it. Flashes stayed with him, though out of context they meant nothing.
Finally deciding to shake the dream he looked up to see that he had arrived at the lake. He had almost forgotten this was where he was headed, he had been so wrapped up in his thoughts. Reg took a seat in the waning shade of an oak tree off the shore of the Black Lake. Leaning back Reg closed his eyes to relax and.

Scarlett needed some fres air. She always needed air after being stuck in the Potions classroom for two full hours. Potions was her worst subject; she could positively say she hated it. Mostly because of all the precision that was involved in potion making. Scarlett had never been of the slow, patient and precise sort. No, she had been an impulsive, ill-tempered little creature ever since she learned how to walk. Both of the traits only grew together with her.
She didn't know where exactly she was heading; she needed to do something, blow off some steam. There was the always present new prank idea, but pranks were no fun if done alone. You needed company for that, and everybody seemed to be too busy catching up with homework of some sort. Scarlett had a vast pile of unfinished essays under her bed in the dormitory, but it didn't concern her at the moment. She was sure that she could catch up with it later. When she felt like it.
Unconsciously, her legs carried her towards the lake. Why? She started wondering somewhere on half the way there. Oh, maybe because something would always happen at the lake. Right now, she'd satisfy with anything. Even if it was trying to hex the Giant Squid. It was only when she was already near the oak that she noticed Regulus. She came to a halt, and a smug smile curved her full, red lips. A Slytherin to tease, to argue with, or to fight with...perfect.
"Well, if it isn't Regulus Black." Her voice was cold and teasing, "Come to try and ask the Giant Squid out?" Not that he looked like he was dateless, she had to notice. Regulus was very good looking. Not that she was about to ever say it out loud.

Regulus rolled his eyes at the comment, typical Gryffindor nonsense. "You'll be glad to know I'm not, some of us can actually get dates that are the same species," Regulus smirked turning Scarletts insult back on her. "But you can go right ahead," he added his smirk turning into more of a clearly faked smile with a clearly fake tone of generosity. He thought of Indigo and smiled. He wasn't sure they were exactly dating, but they had sort of had a first date at the Shrieking Shack.
How sad for Scarlett that she would need to resort to the squid, while Reg remained confident in his dating status with none other than one of Scarlett's house mates. "he'd probably be a step up from Potter or any other of Gryffindors sorry excuses for wizards," he shot. Firing another scathing comment, emphasizing Potter's name to the point of almost literally spitting it out. It may not have been a direct shot at Scarlett, but house pride seemed to be just as important to the Gryffindorks as it was to Reg's own house of Slytherin.
It was humorous really, how the two houses were so alike and yet considered themselves to be so completely different. They both took great pride in their house, both tended to form close friendships within their house, and both hated the other house on sheer principle. And perhaps most importantly, both unwilling to see the others viewpoint. Gryffindors hated the Slytherins pride in their pure blood, and the Slytherins hated the Gryffindors tolerance of muggles and mud bloods, but did either one ever bother to hear out the other side? These were things Reg thought about sometimes. And if his parents love and pride in him wasn't so important, perhaps he would try to unite the houses.

"he'd probably be a step up from Potter or any other of Gryffindors sorry excuses for wizards,"
Scarlett grinned with a smug smile, slowly shaking her head. So this was going to be an argument about Gryffindors and Slytherins. Great. She simply loved arguing with Slytherins about anything at all. When it came to how Gryffindors were better, she adored it. Mostly because she knew it was the truth. C'mon, really, if Gryffindors were sorry excuses for wizards, how comes they always managed to humiliate Snape, a true, loyal Slytherin?
"He might be a step up from them...but if we're really talking about sorry excuses for wizards, I think I've got one right here." She put in a break, then went on, "And it isn't me.
She had decided not to mention the Snape part because, from what she had heard, not even Slytherins favoured Snivellus much. He was an outcast for all the four houses. Ah, poor boy, she thought sarcastically. If there was anybody she couldn't feel sorry for, then it was definitely Greasy-Hair.
Dropping the thoughts of Snape, she focused on Regulus. She was already thinking of what he might retort, and of what her answer was going to be. She was one of those people that liked to be ready in advance...at least wehn it came to arguments. When it came to school...well, let's just say Scarlett wouldn't ever be ready in advance. The vast pile of homework in her room was the proof. [[[OOC:Sorry for the crappy post, next one will be better, and sorry for not posting so long-school ]]]

"You've brought a friend then?" Regulus guessed attempting to look behind Scarlett. Of course he knew she had meant to refer to him, he was an idiot, but what fun was it to take insults from a 'ittle Gryffie? Now it was especially fun because if Scarlett denied bringing a friend Reg was set up for a shot at how she had no friends, and no one liked her ect. Those types of insults never seemed to work well against the Gryffindors, but maybe he'd get lucky.
Reg was already winning as Scarlett herself had accepted that she would rather date the giant squid than any of the giant jerks that made up Gryffindors male population. Sad to say Regulus' own flesh and blood seemed to be the leader in that department. What girls saw in his brother Reg never really did know. He used to want to be like Sirius, and perhaps if they were in the same house, Sirius would have taken Reg under his week and turned Reg into a mini version of him.
But no, Reg had remained quite independent of his older brother. Left to admire how carefree his life seemed to be, how he had such a solid group of friends. Even when his family turned there back on him, he had somewhere to run. Regulus envied that. If it had been he who was kicked out this summer, who would he have had to turn to. Sure Reg had made friends, but not the kinda friends that would welcome him into there home, accept him as a family member like the Potters had. Man he hated James for that.

"You've brought a friend then?"
Scarlett shook her head again, her long, blond hair dancing on her slim shoulders; "Oh, no, you are definitely not my friend...and I believe that they aren't here because they smelled you. See, the only reason I'm still alive must be because I have a slight cold." She mused. In reality, Scarlett had no cold, but this remark was so fun she simply had to use it. Lying had never been a problem to her. Scarlett could lie even to the best of her friends, let alone Slytherins. Her acting skills helped this a lot. Her parents had always claimed she'd be an actress one day. So lying was pretty much among the lines of practising for her future career, wasn't it?
She leaned against a tree, and for a moment allowed her eyes to move away from Regulus and over to the lake. Not too many people were outside; most of those who were were couples. Scarlett recognized a Ravenclaw boy sitting with a girl from Hufflepuff she knew on the other side of the lake. There were also two Gryffindors she was certain were dating...Suddenly, a hilarious thought came to her mind. What if somebody thought she and Regulus were a couple?
It almost made her laugh out loud, that thought. How would that really look? They'd probably be one of those comic couples from muggle television shows that try to plant posion into each other's food or run each other over with a car...well, a broom, in this case. Hmm, she had plenty of good ideas she'd certainly use if they...
What the---? What was she thinking about, honestly! Of course they'd never end up together, even if that would prove as a perfect chance to kill him. She didn't like him. He was a Slytherin. End of story. Her light eyes flew back to him.

"Huh, I didn't realize imaginary friends had a sense of smell," Regulus smirked. He wasn't going to justify the comment about his odor he had indeed showered this morning and was quite confident he smelt no worse then she did. Then again that probably wasn't saying much. "So, are you going to ask the squid out now? Or are you waiting till I leave, because I would be more than happy to allow you some privacy," he said resurrecting the original joke.
Reg supposed it would have probably been much easier to flat out ask why she was here...bothering him, but bringing back jokes about the squid seemed far more fun. Not to mention insulting. In all seriousness, why was Scarlett here. Did she merely spot him and decide, now would be a good time to bug the hell out of Regulus or was it something else?
But what something else would there be. That she only mocked him to cover how much she really liked him? That was about as likely as having it rain pixie dust. Reg wondered if there was a spell that could make such a thing happen. The muggles used an expression about flying pigs, but with a little magic that was actually quite easy to make happen. Silly muggles and there narrowminded beliefs.
