What about ISS inspired you to join? It looks really organized and well put together, and it's so active. That's hard to find. Plus I can't say no. I'm looking forward to it though!
Do you have any suggestions for us? Umm.... maybe add more posts to the 'most recent'? That's all I can think of...__________________________________________________________
About the Character- -
Name: Alice Mary Logan
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Year: Sixth
Face Claim: Rose Byrne
Canon or Original? Canon
Facial Properties:
Alice feels she's very average in appearance. She is not ugly, but there is really nothing special about her in her opinion. She feels she has the misfortune of getting every dominant feature there is, and she might just be right. She's got brown hair that falls almost mid back. It's not really thick, but it's not particularly thin. Its not stick straight or really curly. It's sort of in between, usually falling in light waves, though sometimes it chooses to curl more or straighten more. She also has brown eyes of course. However, the interesting part of her face is her expressions. Her face is very expressive, and you can usually tell how she's feeling just by looking into her eyes. When she gets embarrassed she blushes very easily. She's often smiling and laughing, and it's easy to tell she's being genuine just by looking at her.
Physique:
Her body is also very average. She falls at about 5'4. Not tall, but not really that short. She ways about 125, and she's not particularly curvy or anything. Her skin doesn't tan really well, but it's not pasty white. However, she takes care of herself and her body really isn¡¦t that bad at all. She's usually dressed in her school uniform which is perfectly put together. (Assuming she hasn't lost all her ties again.) When not dressed in her school uniform she's usually in blue jeans and t-shirts, sweaters, or tank-tops depending on the weather. Often she'll wear sundresses (that are a bit outdated) during the spring and summer. She often has flowers from the greenhouses (or just the grounds) in her hair.
Personality:
Growing up in the household she grew up, Alice Logan had no choice but to be both stubborn and sarcastic. Alice is usually pretty easy going, and she does not always have to have her way. Unless of course, on the rare occaison, she makes up her mind to do so. This often happens if someone tells her she 'has' to do something she does not 'have' to do, or when someone tells her she 'can't' do something that she can do. She also remains true to who she is. She's far too stubborn to change just to please someone else. She's also rather sarcastic. Not everything that comes out of her mouth is sarcastic, but a great deal is. It's instinct for her to respond that way. Especially when she's 'in one of those moods.¡¦ (Which can be a good mood or a bad mood.) Her sarcasm is usually in good nature, and she's probably just teasing you. Unless she doesn't like you, and then the insults are probably genuine. Alice likes most people though, excluding a certain type of person. The brunette has three things that really bother her- ignorance, arrogance, and, most importantly, prejudice. Alice can understand and appreciate the saying 'ignorance is bliss,' even if she'd rather know then not know. However, that does not justify someone to be stupid. She believes it's important to take advantage of your education. It will make your life a lot easier, not to mention it could (and probably will in this day and age) save your life or someone else's. Also, if your ignorance causes you to misjudge an entire group of people, or even just one person, and therefore treat them awful, that is not acceptable. Arrogance is another pet peeve of her's. Even 'harmless' arrogance when taken too far annoys her. She cannot stand stand someone, especially a guy for some reason, who thinks they are better for superficial reasons such as looks, house, book smarts, popularity, Quidditch skills, gender, race, or the worst, blood. Both of these tie in with the main pet peeve and are often the cause of it- prejudice. People shouldn't be judged based off what they cannot change, or even things they could change if they wanted too because you should not have to be ashamed of who you are. People who put others down to try and prove their superiority or because they can do not sit well with her.
Those things aside, Alice really is a very tolerant person. In fact, she rather likes most people. Different personalities fascinate her, and the little things that annoy most people don't bother her. In fact, she rather likes strange little quirks because its what makes them different and makes them who they are. Not only does she like most people, but people tend to like her too. She's not popular by any means, but she's well liked in a more understated sort of way. She's friendly and genuinely likes people, and this makes her 'approachable,' or so she's been told. She also has a motherly nature towards people. She's often getting on to people about things such as not sleeping or eating enough. She has no problem scolding a guy who's older and more then a foot taller then her to go put on a sweater because its chilly outside. She sounds so much like a mother that sometimes they even listen to her.
She, of course, has her own little quirks. For one, she's clumsy. She's constantly tripping over things (or thin air), running into walls, dropping things, or just losing her balance all together. (Hence the reason she doesn't fly.) She also has an awful memory in some ways. She can remember everything about the Goblin War of 1412, but she can't for the life of her remember where she left the completed essay. She loses things all the time and forgets about little things she's supposed to do. However, she's usually able to mostly counter act this by keeping detailed to-do lists and schedules that she half-way follows. She spent large amounts of time reading as a child and still does even. She loves books you can read over and over again, and epic romances just so happen to be her favorite. Despite the fact that she's a hopeless romantic, she can be rather clueless about the way someone feels about her, particularly in the ways of love. She finds herself very ordinary in both looks and personality. (Which is why she likes people who are different.) She has a bit of a self esteem problem. She doesn't think she's awful or anything, just that she's nothing special and very boring. She's also very self reliant do to being an only child with parents who worked a lot, and on top of that encouraged her to do things that encouraged independence. So even though she tries to take care of other people, she seems surprised when someone tries to help her, and even reluctant as she doesn't want them to go through any trouble for her.
She also is rather smart. (Though she doesn't think so.) She spends a lot of time reading, and has since she was old enough to read. (Around age four or five.) She especially enjoys histories and cultural things as far as non-fiction goes. She's one of the few who enjoys History of Magic. She even likes their ghost professor. (Sure, he might be a little monotone, but he's been around for so much!) She's also extremely good at Herbology. Her grandmother was extremely interested in plants, and she had greenhouses full of plants. Her parents however, couldn't care less about them. When they moved into her father's childhood home after both his parents passed away when Alice was very young, the greenhouses started to decline and were only taken care of weekly by an elderly man who wasn't particularly good at what he was doing. When Alice was old enough to play outside on her own (6 or 7, her parents gave her a lot of freedom) she discovered the greenhouses, and started to care for the plants herself. She seemed to have a knack for it, and she rather enjoyed taking care of the plants and watching them grow into something that seemed so different. She misses her plants when she's at school, and she has a few sitting around her 'area' of the girls' dorm. She also spends a lot of time in the Hogwarts green houses. Most people wouldn't expect it from this happy, friendly, plain looking girl, but she's also rather good at Defense Against the Dark Arts despite the fact they're on their sixth professor. (seventh if you count the one in third year who had a nervous breakdown after a week and had to be carted off to Saint Mungos.) Her father, who is an Auror, taught her to defend herself, and when she had mastered the basics quickly, he had moved on to more complicated things. She, like anyone, has things she's bad at as well though. She's not very good at Transfiguration, but she manages with an obscenely large amount of studying and practice. She is however, much worse at Potions. She's forgetful and she gets side tracked easily which does not mix well while making potions. She hates the subject, and would have been glad to drop it after her OWLs, but for her future career she needs Potions. So after scraping by an E by the very tip after extremely large amounts of practice and studying and a bit of luck, she joined the NEWTs class and continues to struggle with it.
As mentioned earlier, Alice feels the maternal need to care for people. (Plants too, but that's different.) She also wants to protect those who can't protect themselves. Especially against groups of people (the Death Eaters) who would torture and murder those because of their blood. Something which Alice knows from those she's met, makes absolutely no difference. She's got a knack for DADA, and like her father before her, she wants to be an Auror. She's always had it as a thought, and then in her fourth year, she finally made it her life goal to just that. She studies very hard, and takes her dream very seriously.

History:
Nathan Logan and Renesha ¡§Ren¡¨ Rathejen were in the same year at Hogwarts, but they didn¡¦t really meet until the summer before their seventh year. Nathan was a stubborn, slightly cocky, Ravenclaw who was more focused on becoming an Auror then on carrying on his family line. He was the only child, and his mother desperately wanted to have grandchildren before she died. (She was older when she had Nathan, and hadn't thought she could have kids at all.) Ren Rathejen was a stubborn, independent Gryffindor. She didn¡¦t believe that just because she was a woman she should have to get married as soon as possible and start a family, and stay at home. She refused to go to any of the balls her mother asked her to go to, or allow her parents to throw her a ¡¥coming of age¡¦ party as was the norm then. Nathan and Ren¡¦s fathers worked in the Ministry of Magic together, and their mothers ran in the same social circle. When the Logans threw a ball, Ren was unwillingly dragged along. Nathan had been forced to attend too, and the two met. Ren had somehow been coerced into dancing with an awfully boring old man. Nathan, being a gentleman even though he wasn't interested in marrying, rescued her. They danced together and hit it off immediately. Then they snuck out together and went to a muggle bar in their formal wear. Her dress had been ruined by walking through mud and she had ditched her high heels not long after they left, and his suit jacket had disappeared somewhere along the way. Their mothers were furious, but the two had a grand time. Before the end of the summer they were dating, and not too long after that they were in love. They fought a lot, but that was just because they were both ridiculously stubborn. They always made-up eventually. Besides, the two enjoyed the fights really.
One day in the middle of a fight, Nathan proposed. Ren was actually shocked into silence for once in her life. After a moments thought, the Gryffindor accepted, and the two began their fight again. Their mothers were thrilled when they told them over Easter break. In her excitement Ren¡¦s mother accidentally let it slip that the whole ball had been a set-up for the two. Ren was furious. She detested anything that even resembled an arranged marriage in the slightest. She began to doubt that she was really in love with Nathan, and worried they had been manipulated into something they didn't really want. When they got back to school, she approached him with this, and the two got into a huge fight and broke up. After graduation the two went their separate ways. Nathan became an Auror like he had wanted, and Ren remained independent and actually became a Curse Breaker for Gringotts. (One of the few woman who had done so at that time.)
It was nearly fifteen years after graduation before the two ran into each other again. Neither had found anyone else in all this time, and while they both enjoyed their jobs quite a bit, they weren't really happy. Suddenly the old chemistry was back, and they slipped right back where they had left off. They were both a little bit less stubborn, but they still fought occasionally. Okay, well a lot. They probably wouldn¡¦t be happy if they didn¡¦t. It would be too boring. They married less than a year after they met again. It wasn¡¦t another seven years though before they finally had Alice, and after that Ren couldn¡¦t have any more children even if she had wanted too. Ren had always detested her strange name, so she ¡¥blessed¡¦ her child with a completely normal name which ironically Alice hates because of how boring it is. They always say you want what you don¡¦t have.
They lived in a small home in London until Nathan's mother died when Alice was three and they moved into the spacious manor that Nathan had grown up in. Nathan and Ren, Ren especially, weren't exactly the most normal parents. Ren was possibly the least maternal woman most people knew, but they both loved Alice very much. She didn't exactly have the most... childish childhood. She learned to read at about age four or five, and she didn't read 'children¡¦s' books' for long. She started reading more mature novels, and at a young age showed interest in non-fiction things like history and different cultures. Her parents' jobs required a lot of time and she spent a great deal of time home alone with just the house elf. She spent that time reading and exploring the grounds. Exploring the grounds included her late grandmother's greenhouses. She was fascinated by the plants and started caring for them herself. She read the Herbology books in the library, and was fascinated watching what she had put so much work in grow up to be something beautiful and/ or useful. Most of the childhood magic she showed was with plants.
When she turned 11 she of course went to Hogwarts. She excelled in her classes, excluding Transfiguration and the dreaded Potions of course. She made friends almost immediately. She missed her parents and her home (including what came with it- their house elf, her plants, the library, etc.), but she's never really been home sick. She was taught to be independent, and she is. She does write home a lot though. Over the holidays her father works on teaching her DADA things so that she can defend herself and others. Some time ago she decided she wanted to be an Auror like her father, and she really has put her whole heart into it.
Sample Post: [As Emily Watkins in ¡¥Guys are Especially Dumb Today.¡¦
It¡¦s a middle post- let me know if you want something else. ƒº [Rest of thread here if you¡¦re interested.]
She knew it was daring, and probably a bit stupid, but she decided to say it anyways. "Well maybe you should work on that. All this built up anger might give you a heart attack someday. It already sounds like it's beating too fast." They were indeed close enough for her to hear his heartbeat. She wasn't sure if he could hear her's or not since her breathing was much harder then his do to her surprise attack. She was relieved when he pulled back, even if he didn't let go. Still, it was an improvement. She could no longer hear his heart beat.
She rolled his eyes when he called her Love. Did all guys think calling girls such patronizing nicknames was a good thing? That it was appealing. Well, at least it was slightly better then Babe. His statement brought her at least some small comfort though. At least she wasn't completely overreacting. When he mentioned kicking the guy's ass for her though, she wasn't sure he was kidding. Best not to give him a name then. "I'd rather you didn't. He's harmless... mostly. The worst he could do is try to break my heart I think, and I'm not stupid enough to let him. He's not so good at the long term relationships. My sister is the longest he's ever been with a girl and she broke up with him because he was flirting too much with some Hufflepuff." She wasn't sure why she was sharing quite this much information. She wasn't a sharing person. "He's just some Gryffindor. I forget his name," she told him very much protecting Kaoru if the Slytherin weren't kidding. She wasn't sure why though. A punch in the nose might do the Gryffindor good. Then if he could get some punches back... that would certainly satisfy her.
She was confused by his statement. Was he saying his life was uncomfortable? She didn't understand that. She wasn't about to pry into his deep dark secrets though. They weren't any of her business. She was relieved though, that he let her go finally. Then the tall Slytherin swooped down and picked up a single sheet of the dozen or so laying about the floor and handed it to her giving her 'spirit fingers.' The gesture, while still rude, was amusing enough to bring a small grin to her face before she sarcastically replied, "Well I guess even grouchy Slytherins can learn, can't they?" She tugged at the hem of her far too short skirt making sure it wasn't rising up out of habit. To think, twenty minutes ago she was ranting to herself about how irritating the school skirts were. Now she had much bigger things to be irritated about.
Her eyebrows narrowed when he asked her if she knew what her problem was. Just as she had been starting to calm down, he was going to set her off again wasn't he? His response to his own question for some reason amused her though instead. "I'm too angry? Mr. Slam some poor girl into a wall just for the hell of it?" she said raising her eyebrows at him. "And I am uptight actually. I have my way of thinking, and I'm not about to change. Usually I'm not this snippy or uptight, but I was put in an awful mood by my sister's ex, and you were here to be the bunt of my frustration. Sorry," she said shrugging in a very not-sorry sort of way. She'd have been sorry if the guy hadn't been an even bigger jerk right back. "Now," she said. "Do you know what your problem is?"It was her turn- he had to see this coming. However, she wasn't near as upset and had calmed down quite a bit. So she didn't sound nearly so angry or hateful as she had earlier. More like teasing. "You have no manners, you have anger management problems, and you're a jerk." She paused. "Well I guess I had already told you all that. Except the last part, but I think it was sort of implied."__________________________________________________________
