It was hard to tell whether or not the shock of finding out that there is a ball only a few months away is a good thing or not. Then again, for it to be a good thing, one might need these two main things: A date, and something to wear... And sadly.. Ash had neither. So, that probably meant that this was a very, very bad thing.
And there clutching the plush cushions of the Gryffindor common room couch, sat the poor blue eyed, brown-haired beauty in question. It was sad, but she didn't know whether to just pout or simply scream and rant about how life wasn't fair. Luckily for her, she remembered that she had shrunk her journal and fit it in her pocket. With a sly smile she pulled out the small little crimson and silver diary and brought it up to her lips. After whispering a few choice words, she brought her hands back down as the journal began to enlarge back into its right size.
For one, she was delighted that that worked because she'd created the spell herself, and reason number two of why she was happy, was because she now had a place to rant without scaring people.
Dear Diary,
I just found out that there is this Winter Ball thing going on during Christmas, and I have no idea what to do. I want to go to the Ball, but I have neither things needed to attend. A dress, and a date. I’m hopeless, there is no way I’ll be able to find a date, and coax my aunt into letting me spend money for a Christmas Ball… Unless… I have to find a date, then I can use that to my advantage and puppy dog pout my way into the bank vault my parents left me. Yes, my plan is brilliant! Only one problem… Still dateless, and I have no idea who I can ask.. God this sucks… I mean, I’ve gone to other dances, but this is the second to last year I am ever going to have in this school. And besides, I think I need to stop being a recluse and start making lots more friends. Anyways, I can’t think of anymore to write so I’m gonna stop now.
Much Love, Ash.
The fire was warm against her legs, as she curled up more against the soft back of the couch. Things needed to change in her life, and she needed to meet more people, but now didn't seem like the time. The fire was so warm, and the couch was so soft. Wait! No, she couldn't fall asleep.. Not here! Not with her journal unhidden. Students liked to pry, and the Marauders liked to pick on people... It wasn't like she had much of a chance anyways... Besides it was late... No one would be up and about right now.. A small nap wouldn't hurt.. [/color]

Gemma roared angrily, in a very lion-ish way actually, as she stomped down the stairs towards the common room.
“Insanity! The whole entire school must’ve gone absolutely crazy!! I MEAN…! RAUGH!!!” she snarled as she plopped down in a chair by the fireplace, glancing over at Ashlynn she smiled for a split-second “Can you believe it about the ball? It’s just not fair! I mean, I don’t have any of the necessities for going to a ball! “To start it off I’ve got no absolutely gorgeous dress-gown-thing that’ll blow the mind of any guy that even glances in my general direction!! AND I CAN’T AFFORD ONE EITHER! And I can’t ask my grandparents for one because they’ve already done so much for me! “And I don’t have some gorgeous arm candy of a guy either! Or even a guy to ask! Well I do have a guy I could, two actually, but while the situations are completely separate they’re also WAY complicated! Way to complicated for me to even get into right now! “AND! AND! RAUGH!!!” Gemma roared again as she started to break down. Her eyes started to swell up with tears and she pulled up the hem of her sleeping shirt, dabbing at the tears which covered the hem of her shirt in tears and mascara.
“God… Sorry Ash… I didn’t mean to snap on you but all of this has been building up for a while and the Ball just kind of was the last straw and it made me snap… You were just unlucky enough to be the one I found when it happened.” She apologized, her voice steadying into it’s usual tone instead of one of some female raging Godzilla or the tone of a sobbing damsel in distress.

There she was, in the dark depths of the Forbidden Forest, a trail laid out of dimly lit glowing green stones was laid out before her. Slowly her lips curled into a small smile of recognition. This was her charm... and only one other person knew of it besides her. A sudden rush of happiness caught her of guard as she found herself quickly making her way down the lit path. He had to be here, this path could only lead one place... Her heart skipped a beat as she turned the corner and took a step into the clearing. Ice blue eyes glanced around and...
A loud roar stole through the silent air as well as a stampede of angry stomps as someone stormed down the common room stairs. Jumping nearly a foot off of the couch, she scrambled to catch her journal as it flew towards the floor. With an amazing reach, she had the journal in her grasp. A sigh of relief issued out from between her parted lips. What was going on? Had someone been hurt? Looking around wildly, startled and suddenly very awake, Ash spotted Gemma marching down the stairs and down towards he couch.
Maybe someone had pissed her off? Played a prank on her? Well whatever it was she pitied the person who'd caused it. It was only seconds later that the fierce red-head had plopped down in the armchair by the fire, and had begun ranting. Oddly enough it was over the same exact thing she was stressing about. Gemma and Ash weren't exactly close friends, Ash knew her from around but this was probably the first time that they would have a actual conversation. 'Did you get those notes in...' and 'Which way is it to...' really didn't count as conversations in the world now a days.
Patiently she listened, slipping in strong nods when she agreed, and a few 'Yeah I knows' here and there. But when she started crying, the protective side of Ashlynn came out in a roaring blaze. "I know how you feel Gemma I really do. I like someone to and it's very complicated, I try to forget him... And also I was just ranting to myself other the same things! It's not fair, and I have no idea what to do either." she replied, as she scooted closer to the edge of the couch nearest Gemma.
Then when she started apologizing, Ash nearly began crying to. "No, no you don't need to apologize. I'm kind of glad it was me because I am having similar issues." she replied, her tone was calm and her piercing blue eyes were calm and gentle.

As Bella walked down the stairs she couldn't help but hear voices of her roomates in the common room. Her gray eyes buldged as she heard the words, 'Ball'. Suddenly she felt as if she were to fall over, and gripped the handle bar for support. A ball. It was almost like being splashed in the face with cold water, she paled thinking about her pathetic wardrobe and meager amount of money. She had to find out if this information was true or not. And, forgetting that she was at the top of the staircase, Bella stepped forward.
Slip. Thump. Bam. Thump. Wham.
At last at the bottom of the stairs, Bella staggered toward the common room, her eyes turning purple as she reverted back to her calm self. The fall hadn't hurt much, it was actually nothing compared to the other things she had gone through. And then suddenly she was there. In the common room. With her two room mates. "Did I hear right? There's a ball?"she whispered hoarsely Now, this was pathetic. Why was she so nervous? She knew these people. It was just Ashlynn and Gemma, nothing to be afraid of. "So, there's a ball going on?" she said more casually, her mouth twitching into the most perfect smile she could manage. That was better.
