OOC: For more background upon the letter's contents, see here. ^^
Write your reply on this, please, just trust me. – Leon
Vas stared at her brother’s slanted handwriting, rereading the words over and trying to make sure she’d read them correctly. Leon had enclosed another blank piece of parchment, his tag-on message at the bottom of the other sheet, which contained his letter. What was so special of this very piece of parchment? Might as well humor him, she thought vaguely, dipping her quill into the ink bottle: Hey Leon, she wrote at the little desk off to the side of the Common Room: Have I ever mentioned you’re a dork? What’s so special about this– Suddenly her fine writing was interrupted in scrawled writing: Vas! Finally! God, it worked! Her eyes widened in surprise, staring at the writing that had just suddenly appeared on her parchment. Leon? How could this be? Her brother was excited: Ah, Vas, you can’t believe how happy I am! I wasn’t sure if this would work or not – sweet, huh? Jason helped me come up with it. You sounded real depressed in your last letter, so I thought I might try to cheer you up – ta da! It was too good to be true. What did you do? How did you get this to…do this? She could almost hear her brother laugh, Magic.
A wide grin spread across her face as she began to scribble madly: God Leon! This is amazing! Will I learn how to do magic like this? It’s so cool! Vas tried to collect her thoughts, unsure how long she had; Leon’s reply came quickly: Mum is fine; no, Dad’s not back yet. Although I’ve confirmed it was the dragon problem, yes – he should be back in a week or so. Yes, I’m still ‘sorting papers for a living.’ Thank’s for the support princess, really appreciate it. Vas smiled, his sarcasm so familiar to her – like a piece of home. Rein has been alright, I’ve been taking him out with me and Ace. I can’t believe what you’ve done with him – would you believe I don’t even have to tie him up? He just runs right along side us. Vas, I think Rein believes we’ll lead him back to you. Vas could feel tears lining her eyes, always so painful to leave her loyal horse during the school year. It helped knowing at least Leon was home with him now, but all the same. That’s great Leon, really great. Take care of him for me – I miss him so much. I miss you too; you wouldn’t believe how much. This time his reply came slowly, the words forming with hesitation. I think I understand that a bit better then you think – silence really is loud. Do you forgive me? Vas didn’t have to even guess what Leon was referring to: I forgive you for leaving me all those summers before I could come to Hogwarts, yes. She pictured his smile perfectly: Thanks princess.
It was hard to believe that after a near month of separation Vas was able to speak to her brother again. She didn’t need to hear his voice to feel like he was there; just knowing he was at the other end was good enough. How he had gotten the parchment before her connected to another she had no idea, but she was forever grateful. You’re amazing Leon. She could just see his face light up: I’ve always known that – thanks for finally noticing. But Vas… Here it comes. Look, you know I wish I could stay, but Mum is calling me – I got’a go. Her smile saddened: Of course; tell her I said hi. I love you. Leon’s handwriting never looked so good: I love you too, princess. Bye. Bye. Vas stared at the conversation upon her parchment, unsure what she was supposed to do with it now. He’d never said if it was for one use only, or how she was supposed to clear it if it wasn’t. She wasn’t about to get rid of it either way – Vas folded the parchment into fourths and carefully tucked it into her book bag, in turn pulling out an old book of hers. Pulling out her bookmark, Vas sunk into its world.

Ryan was up in his bedroom, siting on the bed with his annoying (and tiny) kitten purring by his side. He smiled softly at it as he lay back with an open Charms text book on his lap. Le Gasp! Ryan Jessup - actually doing homework! What was wrong with the world? But no, on closer inspection you would see that actually concealed behind the charms book was a few bits of chicken meat and a piece of string. He wasn't studying, he was feeding his cat. Ah, and all was right again. The Ravenclaw took out his wand and absentmindedly pointed at the string. Without a word on his part the sting floated into the air and the minuscule kitten began attacking it. He was distracted by his daydreams of pie throwing contests and of being victorious in a strawberry jam smearing contest. Fun. Suddenly the boy let out a yelp as he was painfully brought out of one of his most frequent daydreams. "Poppy!" he screamed at the cat, who had just attacked his face. Ryan had let the string dangle much to close to his face, and now he was paying the price from his lack of concentration. Sharp claws dug into his flesh and the small mouth of the cat closed around his nose, the little teeth digging in. It was lucky he didn't have a large cat!
Ryan dropped his wand on his bed, and place two large hands around the fragile thing, gently but firmly prizing it off of his face, and throwing it to the end of the bed. Pop Socks, named affectionately by Ryan little sister, purred even more, this all being like a game to her, and bounded back up the bed to Ryan, who was clutching his face. He wasn't badly cut, the claws weren't big enough to do much damage, but still. It hurt. The cat rubbed up against his legs, but Ryan was having none of its innocence act. The sixth year pushed the cat of the bed and stood up. He heard a high pitched s c r e a c h and Ryan lifted his foot of Poppy's tail. The cat shot out from under his foot and out of the dormitory. Ryan sighed. He hadn't meant to stand on it, the damn thing just always got in the way.. Tuuh, if he didn't apologize with a large amount of food now, she mightn't be nice to him for weeks. The cat had moods like that - it was almost as bad as his mother. They were both vicious when angry.
Ryan grabbed his wand, and a piece of cold chicken (that law thing - you cant create food or what ever, only produce more from an already existing source), and wandered down the stares of the Ravenclaw common room. Poppy had gone this way, he was sure, and he was also pretty sure she was be waiting for him to find her with apologize food. She was a smart cat; she had him well trained. And Ryan knew it. Smiling slightly to himself he descended the stone stairs, and looked around the common room. It was pretty empty, save for one person... Ah, it was Viv! (Yes, he called her Viv, not Vas. Ryan liked Viv). He walked upto her, keeping his eyes peeled for his moody cat, temporarily forgetting about the scratches (they had stopped hurting now). "Heya, Viv" and he smiled at the sister of one of his good mates. It was say Leon had gone.

OOC: I feel obliged to mention this: for anyone with half a brain, you all could have seen this coming… [Excerpt from Eclipse, Stephenie Meyer]. ^^
“Bella?” Edward’s soft voice came from behind me. I turned to see him spring lightly up the porch steps, his hair windblown from running. He pulled me into his arms at once, just like he had in the parking lot, and kissed me again. This kiss frightened me. There was too much tension, too strong an edge to the way his lips crushed mine – like he was afraid we had only so much time left to us. “Mrrrooooowww!” The sound startled Vas, jolting her from her book and casting around a glance in the Common Room in worry – the sound had been a very recognizable yowl of a cat in pain. She might not have worried her self so much before this year, but now that she had Fez – her own, sleek black cat – wandering the halls of Hogwarts anything remotely close sent shivers up her spin. Vas had almost decided to run up to her dorm to go check on the feline when she saw him curled up on a chair by the fireplace. She let her stiff posture relax, a sigh of relief escaping her lips. She hadn’t gotten much further down the passage when she heard the small padding of paw trampling down the stairs in a hurry. For one brief moment there was a tiny kitten in sight, but it disappeared off behind one of the chairs before she had much time to observe. Obviously it had been that cat to make the ferocious meow, fur puffed up in fright as it sought haven from the attacker of sorts. Whatever it was, she decided to overlook the kitten and go back to her book. I’m pretty sure I’ve read that sentence three times now, she thought vaguely, beginning to skim in search of where she’d left off. Only another page in, Vas was startled back to reality: “Heya, Viv.” She looked up in surprise before her mind caught up, realizing Ryan was the spokesperson – and he had a faint line tracing over his cheek. Vas smiled, putting two and two together – the attacker of sorts.
“Hey Ryan,” she returned, giving up on reading all together and placing her bookmark into its pages. Placing it on the table, she noticed the peculiar object her fellow Ravenclaw was holding – a small chunk of meat. Unable to stop it, her nose wrinkle in disgust for all of a moment. “What on earth are you doing with that?” she asked bluntly, never fond of using animals for food – Vas was a proud vegetarian. Before she could inquire further, Fez made his debut with a loud meow of his own. She looked down to see Fez circling Ryan’s ankle, longingly staring upward at the small piece of chicken. Her mind seems to click, and she laughed: ‘Never mind – you’re the owner of that little pipsqueak, aren’t you? It seems you’ve attracted the wrong cat…come’er Fez,” she added to the begging cat, pulling him up into her lap. He made a grab for the meat with one swap of the paw and failed; Vas had looped one finger through his collar to hold him back. Fez pulled against the restraint, trying to act cute for Ryan in return for food.

ooc - wow, I'm sorry it's so late.
His mind was really on his cat - where the hell had that thing gotten to? - so he didn't actually see Viv's nose wrinkle in disgust at the piece of meat in his hand. He looked around, trying to find the animal, and spotted a small black tail poking out from behind a chair. Poppy wasn't stupid enough to let it be seen by accident - she wanted her meat. Ryan was going to try and coax her to wards him when he heard Viv speak, and he momentarily lost focus. Turning to the girl Ryan was confused for a moment, then he remembered; she was a vegetarian. He hadn't realized, or made the connection to the meat in his hand and her words. Shoot, he really should have remembered that. After all, Ryan didn't usually forget these things - he had good people skills. "Oh, I'm sorry.. Hu?" He was suddenly cut of by a loud meow. For a second, Ryan thought it was Pop Socks, but the cat at his feet felt much to big to be her. Anyway, she wouldn't come to him without a fight. Looking down he saw a handsome looking black cat, whom he recognized to be Viv's. Smiling Ryan looked back to the girl. "I see Fez has his eye on the chicken" he chuckled. "Yep, I am. And she's gone and run off. Unfortunately for this fella here" and he laughed softly again she the cat made a vain attempt to get the meat, "this is my peace offering to Poppy".
Ryan looked back to where the cat had been, but the tail was no longer there. Damn, she's moved again. He hadn't seen her move - she was one sly cat. Ryan crouched down, so he was resting only on the toes of his feet, and looked around the floor. She would still be in here - she wanted the chicken. Ok, time to 'give up'. Ryan sighed, apparently to no one, and sat down on the floor, folding his legs like you would do in pre-school. "Fine. I give up. I guess this lovely piece of chicken" and he looked up at Viv, mouthing sorry, "will just have to go to some other cat. How about Fez here". She wouldn't have that. No way was her chicken going to go to some other cat. She was way to important self centered to share. Ryan smiled as the tiny cat came shooting out from behind a statue of one of Hogwarts many admired peoples, and raced right over to him - admitting defeat to get her reward. Such a predictable cat.
However, before Poppy could get to the chicken Ryan picked her up and placed her next to his cut. "Say sorry". To any observer he would have looked like a twat, taking to his cat like she could understand him. But he believed that she could - she certainly acted like she could. The cat obliged to Ryan wishes and purred as the pawed with an unclawed paw at the cut on his cheek. "Ah, thank you. Here ya'go" and he put the black and white fuzzball on his knees, leaving the chicken for it to eat. He looked back up at Viv, and smiled at what he guessed would be in here thoughts - most people found this routine a bit odd, even his parents. "Y'know, it's not a insane as it sounds - she really does understand" and he left it at that. [/blockquote]

OOC: No worries. ^^
Vas simply shook her head, smiling in apology instead. “Don’t worry about it – I’m not out on a mission to convert all of Hogwarts or anything. If I had that big of a deal with it, you’d never see me at meal times.” Her grin turned into smirk, still in good humor despite the bit of dead chicken. Hogwarts was well known for its amazing food and wide selection – and what school wouldn’t be complete with all the meat courses? She had long gotten over smelling the pork chops and turkey and ham while she tried to eat her salad and fruits. “Of course,” she added smugly, “Fez refuses to see my point of view.” He was letting out more obnoxious meows, trying to be annoying so that he’d get the food just as payment to shut up. “Quite it you little mooch,” she scowled, flicking him on the nose. Fez growled at her and tried to crawl out of her grasp. Vas glowered at him and swatted his muzzle, “Hush.” Thankfully Fez got the point, sulkily quieting down though his eyes never left the chicken.
He seemed to do okay until Ryan was shorter then the cat, Fez having a clear view of “his” food. Vas was almost certain he understood that he had gotten close to finally getting the meat before the kitten Vas had seen earlier came sprinting out of no where, only to be seized by her Housemate. Fez surprisingly remained silent, almost like he was trying to give the other cat the death stare so she’d drop dead and he’d be able to eat at last. Vas couldn’t help but giggle as Ryan began talking to his car, almost worried that she felt relieved – well, at least she wasn’t the only one. She was pretty sure it took a cat owner to understand his words, “Y'know, it's not as insane as it sounds - she really does understand.” Honestly, it was true. “I know what you mean,” she agreed fully, glancing at Fez. He was starting to put up a fight again, angry another cat was eating in front of him apparently. “Fez, what is your problem? Get over yourself, you’re not that important of a feline you know.” He paid no attention to her, eyes still only for the chicken and the cat eating it.
Letting out an impatient sigh, Vas pulled him closer to her chest and turned his head against her arm, muffling his whines. “He get’s jealous easily,” she laughed, shaking her head. Obviously it wasn’t going to be safe to set him back down again until the kitten was done eating her meal – or Fez’s meal, in his small mind at least. “So, Poppy then?” she confirmed, looking at the kitten. She couldn’t make much sense of the name, but looking at her own cat, you’d never know why she’d named him Fez either. “She’s cute,” Vas complimented, always finding kittens much cuter then cats – she’d liked Fez a lot more when he was that small too. Although, glancing at Ryan’s seared face, she could honestly say she didn’t miss that part of kitten-hood.
