About the Character- -
Name: Éric Johnathan Dawkins Age: 17 Gender: Male Year: 7th Face Claim: Jean-Baptiste Maunier
Canon or Original? Original
Facial Properties: Éric’s face is extremely distinguished, and one of the physical aspects about him that most people remember. One reason is that he has an extremely long face. Also, he has rather high cheekbones, which come from the French side of his family. His nose is also a bit on the big side, but nothing too extraordinary. Another striking feature of Éric’s is his eyes. A pale blue, they also have a tint of light green in them and somehow tend to be extremely noticeable against his face. Éric’s face is extremely angular, with his face ending in a long point and his cheekbones accenting the middle of his face. There’s nothing really intriguing about Éric’s lips… they’re about normal size for a boy and he’s perfectly fine with that. He has a pleasant smile, and the sides of his mouth tend to crinkle up a bit when he grins. Overall his face reflects his French ancestry, which is a fact that his mother often points out with great pride. His facial features also give him a rather youthful look and he tends to look a little younger than he really is. Physique: As far as physique goes, Éric is well built. Well, not well built in the way a body-builder is well built, but he isn’t extremely scrawny either. Generally Éric’s body type leans more towards the thin, but stable side. He is a huge Quidditch player, inheriting an almost fanatical love of Quidditch from his father, so he is fit. However, he isn’t anything incredible. Like his father, Éric is tall, standing at six feet two inches, and in certain clothes he can appear lanky. At the moment Éric has shaggy dirty blonde hair, though the length varies depending on when his mother puts her foot down. Éric isn’t particular about his hair, he of course washes it every day and combs it, but he never spends hours in front of the mirror fixing his hair, and he doesn’t really care if people mess his hair up. Honestly, he has better things to worry about than his hair. Éric has mostly grown into his height, though he went through those years all boys go through where he was all legs. Those awkward years are mostly behind him and he’s extremely glad. Two features that he thinks he hasn’t grown into are his hands. Éric’s hands are on the big side and his fingers are long. This annoys him quite a bit, since he claims that his long fingers mess up his handwriting (he’s in denial that he simply has typical hen scratch boy hand writing). In all honestly his hands and fingers are just naturally big and he will never really grow into them.
Personality: Éric is an introvert; he likes to have his privacy and he doesn’t particularly care for big crowds. Though not rude, Éric doesn’t really talk unless he has something to say. People who talk just to fill a silence or ramble on and on about nothing particular annoy him, and he tries to avoid spending too much time around such people. Even though he doesn’t particularly enjoy talking, Éric does have friends and when he needs to talk a lot (like at family gatherings) he will. One good thing about being quiet is that he doesn’t get in as much trouble with teachers as he would if he talked a lot. When he’s in trouble he tends to just stand there and look at teachers, figuring that if he opened his mouth something might come out that would get him in deeper trouble.
Speaking of trouble, Éric can get in his fair share. Éric can be rather mischievous and he epitomizes the fact that the quiet ones are the ones you have to watch out for. Authority also poses a problem to Éric, since he doesn’t like being told what to do. If he is told to do something or not to do something he likes to have a reason. Being treated like a child and expected to blindly follow the rules is something that Éric simply cannot stand and if a teacher treats him like that he does his best to show that teacher that he won’t stand for it. However, if a teacher treats him with respect he will return the favor and not be any problem at all. As far as schoolwork goes, Éric is a bright young man, but he doesn’t really see the point of school work. He does what’s expected of him and makes good grades, but he’s definitely not one of those people you see in the library on a Saturday…. unless it’s to annoy the librarian. Another thing that tends to get him in trouble with some teachers is his smart mouth. Éric inherited his father’s witty sense of humor and he can make some biting comments when he wants to. Sarcasm is something that Éric uses with great skill and he uses it especially against people that annoy him. With people he likes Éric can be extremely nice and he can be a little protective of certain people, like his younger sister and brother. Éric isn’t really afraid of making a fool out of himself if he feels like it and many times if he does something amusing it’s really to amuse himself. If you observe him on a regular basis you can usually find him chuckling to himself over some joke he made. Every other week he tends to get into moods where he will make a play of words on everything you say. For instance, if his sister said “It looks like rain” he would respond with “More like smain.” This mood is a mood his friends and family have learned to bear through, but to some it can be a bit annoying.
In all honesty Éric doesn’t really care what people think of him. He knows who he is and is satisfied with that. He’s not afraid to tell people what he thinks, if it’s at all necessary, but he usually keeps to himself and is friends with people who want to be friends with him. He doesn’t put up with much from anyone and is perfectly fine with having a small group of friends who he can trust as opposed to a large group of friends with people he’s not sure about. Doing things to be cool is not something he agrees with, having his own moral standards that he adheres to. All in all, some people really like him and some people really hate him… he’s okay either way. As long as he’s happy with himself he’s content. It doesn’t take much to make Éric happy, he’s a down to earth kind of person, though his mother often tells him that he will have to start to worry about material things when he gets married and has a family. This is far in the future as far as Éric is concerned, so for right now he is content with his lot in life and just tries to enjoy himself without much interruption from people he doesn’t like.
Likes: + His privacy + Music… he can play the piano, bass (classical, not guitar), and he can sing quite well. + His family + Speaking French… French talk faster to him and he doesn’t have to spend as much time talking. + Sheppard’s Pie.. something about the dish makes him happy. + Quidditch… he has a rather fanatical love of the sport + Beignets + Playing tricks + People who respect his privacy and teachers who treat him with respect + Photography Dislikes: – People who ramble on about nothing – Teachers who treat him like a five year old – Schoolwork –People who think they’re cool when they’re actually idiots –Green vegetables… he’s not a rabbit, he shouldn’t be required to eat like one –Keeping things (his room) clean. If it’s very bad he’ll straighten it up, but cleaning everyday is excessive and shouldn’t be expected of him –Legalistic rules… dictatorship has been ruled inefficient and should not be used by any organization… not even schools –People who accuse those who simply have morals and stand by them as being close-minded –Those Muggle hippies who claim to be all about love and peace and then demonstrate in a destructive manner… what’s up with that? –People who terrorize those who can’t defend themselves… it’s just low and stupid.
History: Landon Johnathan Dawkins was only seventeen when he met Renée Antoinette Morhange, and at first it was a slow relationship. Lan was a quiet young man who was not a fan of social functions, and was definitely not a fan of meeting new people. However, his family had taken on the job of showing the Morhange family around England, so he was sort of forced to interact with Renée. Lan’s family was rich, pureblood, and well-established. His mother came from a rich, pureblood, and influential German family. Richard and Margret Dawkins had married when they were in their early twenties and had produced five children. Leslee, Lan and Liesl (twins), Laurel, and Lucy. Being the only boy, Lan naturally leaned towards the quiet side. Because of the European background in their family all of the Dawkins children had been taught German, French, Italian, and Spanish, though they were extremely fluent in German and French. Renée came from a rather high-class French family and the Morhange family was visiting England for a vacation. Since the Dawkins family spoke fluent French, they offered to show the Morhanges around and by some twist of fate Lan found himself saddled with the job of showing Renée around England.
After he got over his initial awkwardness, Lan started to enjoy Renée’s company. She was a quiet, intelligent girl who attended Beauxbaton and spoke little English. Deciding that she should polish her language skills, Lan decided to help Renée learn English and developed a friendship with her as he did so. This friendship unexpectedly took a turn towards the romantic seemingly while Lan was not looking. When Renée went back to France, Lan looked for reasons to visit her until he finally admitted to himself that he just really wanted to see her. Renée, who had liked Lan from the start, watched in amusement as Lan realized that he liked her and when he confessed this to her, her answer was “About time you seely Eenglander.” After this Lan and Renée began dating and a year after that they became engaged. Lan had entered his Auror training by that time, though he inherited a considerable sum of money and a rather nice house, so he technically didn’t need a job. Renée didn’t particularly have any desire to work, since she was too strong-headed to work under anyone and she wanted a family too much to get herself tangled up in running her own business. However, she settled down to the role of lady of the house with gusto and soon committed her time to charity organizations and the like.
Three years after they were married (the wedding was gorgeous by the way) Lan and Renée had their first child. Colette Geneviève Dawkins was born healthy and soon consumed her parents’ attention with great zeal. Two years after Colette, Éric Johnathan Dawkins entered the world and was charged with carrying on the Dawkins name. Compared to Colette (whose strong will gave her parents many sleepless nights) Éric was an easy baby, content to sleep at night and amuse himself during the day. When Éric was three years old he got a little sister as Émilie Cécile entered the world. Émilie was born early and came very close to dying after she was born. At two she contracted a severe case of Dragon Pox and once again her life was in danger. Because of her fragile state of health, Éric always felt an heightened sense of brotherly protectiveness for his little sister and took it as his duty to make sure that she was safe and happy. After going through so much with Émilie, it took Lan and Renée awhile to decide to have one last child and Henri Gabriel was born four years after Émilie.
Éric grew up in a big family. His immediate family wasn’t extremely large, and they were also all on the quiet side. However, two of Éric’s aunts (Liesl and Lucy) were talkative and spunky, and the rest of his dad’s family were usually loud when they all got together. Liesl had three children, who were all of the Hufflepuff brand. Jake and Éric were the same age and got along well, though Jake was much more talkative than Éric. Éric’s aunt Lucy is a professional Quidditch player and always instigated Quidditch matches at any family get together. The Dawkins side of the family was an eclectic bunch and Éric always enjoyed seeing them. His mother’s side of the family was quieter and more relaxed, living in the French countryside. Éric speaks five different languages and frequently uses French, English, and German. At home his mother tends to speak French much of the time, though when she remembers she tried to balance English and French equally. Because of this Éric speaks French as much as he does English and sometimes accidentally answers or asks questions in French.
Éric’s childhood was an easy, carefree childhood. His family was always close-knit and loving. Colette and Éric probably fight the most out of the family, being close in age. Also, Colette is much like her mother in that she is extremely hard-headed and strong willed. Éric takes after his father in being much more laid back and his personality often clashes with Colette’s. All of the Dawkins children have active imaginations and loved making up games and playing them. Renée was a full-time mother and always made sure that her children were well-rounded, well-read, and healthy. Though not by any means ideal, Éric’s childhood was definitely a good childhood and he was raised in a nurturing home. When he received his Hogwarts letter, he wasn’t extremely excited, since he didn’t like meeting new people or being amongst loads of people that weren’t his family. Colette was a second year, however, and she promised to show him the ropes and help him get settled in.
Sample Post: ((From another site… as Andromeda Black Tonks)) When Rabastan snarled at her Andy's eyes widened slightly. She had seen him react this way towards other people. Calling people names and acting tough was exactly Rabastan's way. However, when he roughly grabbed her shoulders, she felt her body immediately tense. Although she had seen Rabastan get angry before, she had never been the object of his anger... especially this kind of angry. His response on how he would respond to her however he wanted made her extremely angry, but she felt that she had better not say too much with his vice-like grip on her shoulders. Her tongue didn't exactly listen to her mind. "Really, Rabastan?" She raised an eyebrow, once again hiding the fear she felt behind her sarcasm. She felt his grip lessen as he responded that he did know what she suffered. For a moment she saw behind those crazed eyes the eyes of her friend. Memories of her and Rabastan as young children flooded her mind and she thought, if just for a moment, that maybe she could get through to him. Her hope was gone when he stated that they were still her family. "They're my blood. Being a family requires something else entirely, Rabastan, and we never had that. " She told him sadly.
His statement that he didn't matter about her happiness hit her like a slap in the face. Of course he didn't. Maybe he used to, but the person he had become certainly didn't. There were few people in her family's circle that cared about each other. She realized that to Rabastan she was now just a prize... a pretty painting that he wanted to hang on his wall. To her father she had been a bargaining tool, and to Rabastan she was a trophy. As he began to take steps towards her, pushing her back as he clenched her shoulders, Andy felt her self-composure start to slip. Finally, his comment about her never being able to escape was too much for her. All her feelings of being trapped, of not being able to escape flooded back to her. Looking at Rabastan, her shoulders slumped and she drew in a sharp breath. She couldn't be trapped again. Suddenly she felt scared. She wanted Ted. "Let go of me. Don't ever touch me!" Andy didn't realized that she had screamed this until she realized that the sound in her ears was louder than she thought. Panic began to creep into her heart. She couldn't let Rabastan trap her in that life.
She thought about struggling against Rabastan but realized how strong he really was. "You can't keep me in that prison, Rabastan. I won't let you." As she spoke she looked again into his eyes and sadness flooded her. "What happened to you, Basty? Why are you doing this?" She questioned, trying to compose herself. She couldn't lose it completely in front of him, she had lost too much composure already. She reminded herself that the prison bars were in her mind, she just had to stop letting them make her feel trapped. She ignored the fact that her parents and Rabastan could take away this new world of hers if they truly wanted to. But honestly they probably didn't care enough about her to do that.
When Rabastan began to cave, Andy felt herself slowly regaining control over herself. "We changed, Rabastan. It happens. Just not this severe." Straightening herself up, she looked at Rabastan. "I don't think we can be friends either. Those days are gone." Looking towards the door, Andy made to pick up her book bag. "I don't think we have anything more to say. Are you going to let me go now?" Biting her lip, Andy hoped he was done with his craziness... she needed Ted badly right now.

Alright so let’s get something straight here: never call my precious Rabastan “Batsy” again and we’ll get along perfectly fine. He’s very faltered you got the “calling people names and acting tough” and “how strong he really was” parts correct, though.
XD
Okay kidding, kidding. But seriously, don’t call him Batsy.
Bwahahahahaha.
So down to business: lovely app, of course accepted, and Eric shall be joining Batsy Rabastan in Slytherin. [:

Haha, you can blame Penny for letting me call her Rabastan that. lol. Not really, I believe we both came up with the nickname, but I've got that stored away that your Rabastan won't stand for it. ^_^
