Sitting in the dull common room with one of his legs crossed over the other and a hand to his forehead as if he was suffering some horrible headache, Rodolphus dredged up old memories of days long past and all the good times he had with a few people that he hadn't spoken to in ages. Names floated around in his head as his thick lips curved into a minute smile. Truthfully, it had been hard for him, letting friends go and watching others come by in hope to replace them; those particularly who were virtually family to him when he was younger. For some reason or another, Rodolphus found himself in a contemplative mood. A mood that wasn’t fit for the environment around him: several first years were off in one corner concocting something or another (most likely to be used on their next teacher) and three second year girls were in the other gazing at him as if he had something on his face he wasn’t aware of and giggling (little girls and their crushes).
He let his other leg fall down to the floor next to his other one and straightened his chair; his way of preparing to stand up, which was followed by his actually doing the deed. However, just as he had done so, the first years grouped in the corner came stampeding past him in which the last one sent a shot of water that came splashing into his face (specifically his eyes). “You bloody twit,” Rodolphus’ voice broke into a growing grumble, “get your insignificant bum back here.” Rodolphus’ hand immediately went to his pocket for his wand until he heard the slamming of the common room door…the prick had slipped between his fingers.
Rodolphus charged out of the common room as he took the bottom corners of his robe to wipe the excess water lingering around his eyes. He didn’t care that the insolent kids were in his house; they were still impudent and going to get a taste of their own medicine whenever he could get his hands around their scrawny necks (not literally of course). Was he really that irritating when he was younger? No, it wasn’t possible. Rodolphus, yes occasionally pulled a dim-witted spell or here, but he was always mature as he was now (of course it has improved through the years), that’s how he was raised to be.
Finally reaching a seemingly ‘annoyance free-zone’, Rodolphus plopped himself down on the soft grassy area found in the Courtyard. He seemed to embrace the tenderness of the green because he then found himself in a lying position, staring up at the slow swaying branches of the tree above him. He seemed mesmerized by them and went into some sort of a trance.

Narcissa was good at wandering, she decided. And at escaping too. Dodging past Peeves twice in the same day wasn't luck. It was called skill. It didn't matter that perhaps she had shoved a first year as to clear her path, she could bet not even Potter would be able to sneak past Filch as she had. That was the reason for the pleased and satisfied smirk that was on her lips as she stumbled out of the castle, her cheeks flushed and looking as disheveled as she had allowed herself to become since she was ten years old and had stumbled into her father's study...
Smiling freely as exhilaration ran through her veins, Narcissa looked up to the sky, laughter spilling from her lips. She twirled in circles, her expression unguarded and careless as to who was witnessing her letting go. There were many shocked expressions, but they were all just a colorful blur as she spun and spun, her robes twirling around her. Not many were used to this cheerful side of Narcissa, and to be honest, she didn't show it to many people. Only her friends had the pleasure of witnessing her childish side. After all, everyone deserved to send everything to hell once in a while. And today, she was feeling reckless, dashing through halls, her laughter bouncing off empty corridors and carrying down staircases. Now that she was outside though, with the wind blowing her loose hair into her face, she was starting to settle down again. Gracefully sinking into the green and soft grass, Narcissa didn't notice she had sat right next to someone until she had laid down, staring at the sky and her hand lightly bumped into another one.
Way to get bumped into reality. Sitting up, Narcissa blinked slowly for a few seconds, the adrenaline that was pumping through her veins muddling her thoughts for a moment. It was reasonable that she didn't recognize Rodolphus at first, but when she did, a slow and wicked grin spread in her lips. "Well, look who's staring at the sky. Isn't that romantic?" she mocked, resisting the stupid urge to hug him. Narcissa was strictly not-into-touching. It was just too...invasive of personal space and if there was something that Narcissa valued, was her personal space. So if she respected others, she expected the same thing as retribution. Rodolphus had strangely been missing all summer and it was good to finally see him again. Narcissa had almost forgotten what the Slytherin looked like, and it was refreshing to be seeing him again. Acting as if he hadn't seen her unleashing of euphoria, Narcissa ran a hand through her hair, effectively smoothing it back to its silky tame strands. She primly sat up, smoothing her robes at her lap. There wasn't anything to be done about the rosy hue in her cheeks, she would just have to wait it out. Meanwhile, she presented Rodolphus a smile. Perhaps he would be surprised at her open show of her mood, since they weren't the only occupants of the courtyard, but who cared? She was with a friend.

Who in the hell did those little broods think they were? – echoed through the young Slytherin’s mind as he lay in the enveloping grass, in quite a susceptible position. It was enough that they succeeded in hitting him with that pathetic spell they had just been trained, but it was even more that they weren’t men enough to face him. Rodolphus remembered when his father took him and Rabastan out to the woods one day and skilled them in not turning away from their foes. The three were out there for hours in which his father constantly put them in worst case scenarious, a boggart often involved. It was something he kept with him still today (not only because the boggart continued to transform into the Doberman that had haunted his dreams for years on end). That’s when he concluded: he was to make Slytherins out of those boys yet; they’ll be grateful for it in the long run…or at least know who not to pry.
The slight breeze was refreshing enough that it delicately caressed his skin, as if an invisible person were right beside him executing the act. In a way, it was working in cooling his small temper. Rodolphus smiled in bliss at the current moment as he continued to stare above him at the rustling leaves. When one moved, it began a chain reaction in which all of them followed together. He’d never taken the time to observe so before, but then again, everyone once in a while he did relish in one of natures joys. A jay bird taking a leisurely bath in the Black Lake was his last nature splurge, until the bird was taken under by the giant squid that is. There was no trace of the bird ever again.
Rodolphus quickly withdrew his hand from his side when something had touched it; truth be told, he thought it was a spider. Pushing off the ground with his elbows, he shot up into a sitting position. “What the…” his voice trailed off as his eyes landed on to who had taken a seat next to him. Boy, was Narcissa a site for sore eyes. It seemed like decades before he saw the attractive young blonde, he admitted he had been a recluse during the summer and that was most likely part of it. However, he still resented the fact he hadn’t received a visitor from any of his crude mates either. “Romantic,” Rodolphus scoffed at her diction, “I would have chosen the word contemplative.” He quietly observed the deep-flush that saturated her cheeks to which his eyes landed on her seemingly amused smile. An eyebrow was raised at this as he then took a quick glance around the courtyard. “Miss Black,” he began with a semi-serious tone, “I know you are by no means a gutless wonder[coward], but are you not a pinch afraid of what people will think with a smile like that plastered on your face?” His tone ended with a hint of a laugh in it as he continued, "It's great to see you again." Rodolphus' own mouth formed it's own cocked smile at seeing his long time friend once again. _________________ Meep, completely sorry. Bit of troubles at work, but I'm back.

Narcissa laughed, her long hair streaming behind as she tilted her head back to look at the sky for a few moments. "Right," she said skeptically. "Because you're always so contemplative, aren't you?" she asked with an amused raised eyebrow. Her eyes were firmly set on his face. It seemed so long ago she had seen him last, and she was reminding herself what he looked like. It was easy seeing the attraction factor Trix saw in him, what with the dark hair and all. He'd definitely be Narcissa's type if it weren't for the fact that one, Bellatrix had more than fiercely claimed him, and two, Narcissa wasn't really into the dating scene at the moment. Actually, if you came down to it, Narcissa was so willingly out of the dating scene that she had stopped labelling blokes as 'unattractive' or 'attractive'. Everything was so bland nowadays, she couldn't help but ignore it all. Of course, her reluctance to come back to Hogwarts to start yet another tedious year had influenced her greatly to somehow isolate herself. The only people she saw now could be narrowed down to one hand. Sev, Trix and Lucius were three of the few people she had actually minded enough to talk to them. And now Rodolphus.
What was wrong with her? Absolutely nothing. She just wasn't up to be dealing with the useless musings of people who were so not worth her time. These days, it wasn't uncommon to be dismissed by an indifferent hand wave from Narcissa Black. Couldn't be bothered to care at all. Perhaps this had a lot to do with the fact that most of her friends would be graduating this year and she would be left alone to deal with the incompetence of it all by herself. Fending for her sanity, and perhaps more than that, she'd be reduced into an angry state reallly soon. What would she do? Trix, Sev, Rodolphus, Lucius, even her cousin Sirius (for whom she couldn't care less, really) was graduating. Hogwarts would be left void of any semi-decent company.
Scoffing, Narcissa looked at her perfectly manicured nails, rolling her eyes at Rodolphus. "Afraid?" she raised an eyebrow again. Really, what was there to be afraid of? People didn't come randomly up to her to be nasty. Things didn't work like that. "Let them think whatever they want. They're all so unoriginal," she said calmly, waving her hand in the general direction of the castle. "I bet the best they can come up with will have to do with us being together and having some sordid affair behind my sister's back," she chuckled, amused at the thought. It was true, too. These people, they saw a wizard and witch conversing and they had to be shagging. It was all so dull and un-creative...
"Which, if they ask, we are having. Just for the sake of fun," she commented idly, lying back again and staring at the cloudless sky. Sighing, she closed her eyes for a moment. "You know," she started in a murmur. "It's good seeing you, Lestrange." It wasn't like her to admit something like that, but so it was her relief at finally seeing him. Trix was just a few steps from going around the bend by not seeing him, so she could only guess that her good mood would shoot up at the bloke's sight.
