ABOUT THE CHARACTER Name: Gemma Avery Age: 17 and two months Gender: Female Year: 7 Celebrity: Hailey Williams
Canon or Original? Original
Facial Properties: At one point in her life Gemma had mid-back length dark brown hair, but then she discovered hair dye and a new forming kind of music called punk rock… Nowadays Gemma sports a choppy, shoulder length hair of a variety of reds, oranges, and a bit of blonde. Her shaggy, choppy bags are always falling over her eyes in a casual and messy way that gives her hair the over all appearance that she just woke up. Gemma has amber eyes that are often lit up with mischief or sparkling in a way that makes you think she knows something she’s not supposed to. If you’re paying attention and looking closely you can spot the slight puffiness and dark discoloration under Gemma’s eyes from minimal amounts of sleep. Her nose and mouth fit to the proportions of her face, though because of her lips red coloring their a bit more noticeable against her light skin. Physique: Gemma is average height for most people, but a bit short compared to most people in her family. Her height kind of bugs her so she usually wears a shoe with some kind of heel to it, her favorite being her black platform heels. She’s not extremely thin, or fat, her body’s pretty average actually. The only part of her body that’s something a guy might be really interested in is her bust, which is lightly large for her figure but usually covered so no one can tell, or her legs. When not in her Hogwarts uniform Gemma usually opts for a t-shirt with some kind of logo, band name, or phrase on it (usually insulting) and a pair of dark blue denim flares with her black platform heels. Along, of course, with her constant accessory which is a simple silver chain with a ring hanging on it that she nicked from her grandpa when she was little. Personality: When Gemma was little her mother told her something that she definitely took to heart, Well-Behaved women rarely make history. This phrase forever embedded itself into her mind and definitely affected Gemma’s out look on life. Gemma grew up priding herself on her abilities to cuss, fight, and be one of the boys. As well as be sarcastic as hell when she feels like it. While Gemma has toned down on her fighting, when the occasion arises she has no problem rolling up her sleeves and taking care of herself by giving the offender a nice right hook to the jaw. Though she tries to only fight for defensive reasons sometimes Gemma can’t help but go and stir up some trouble. It’s not only Muggle-fighting, as the Wizarding world tends to call a good fist fight, that she’s good at though. Gemma is also skilled at dueling, though she still favors fists to wands. Sarcasm is definitely a strong part of Gemma’s life as well. She often uses it to brush off opponents when she doesn’t feel like fighting, or to cover when she’s hurting. It’s a great cover up as well so her crushes don’t realize she has feelings for them unless she wants to. But no matter how brave or harsh Gemma tries to be she still has her faults and weaknesses. She’s still terrified of the dark and tends to shy away from anything to painful. She falls in love quickly and usually ends up with a broken heart. And while some other people would consider her brave Gemma thinks herself a coward and only puts on a brave front so others won’t take advantage of her. And there’s a secret side to Gemma to, that she’s careful not to tell anyone. Gemma is a total sci-fi geek and a romantic to boot. She just can’t help it! She used to spend all of her free time digging through her grandma’s bookshelves for romance novels. And as an after affect she kind of has this great idea in her head of the right guy coming to sweep her off her feet who will love her and listen to what she says. The sci-fi thing… Well that mostly grew from the fact that all the time while she was growing up Gemma’s grandpa would take her to the sci-fi movies that were playing or they’d stay up late together watching sci-fi shows. So there you go, that is Gemma Avery’s entire personality in a nutshell! Likes: [-Music [-Sleeping in the shade of trees [-Hanging out with guys [-Flirting with guys that are interesting to her [-Doodling on spare bits of parchment [-Fighting without getting caught [-Getting letters from home [-Honeydukes sweets [-Reading, but only occasionally [- Climbing up to the highest point she can find and watching her surroundings from there [-Taking pictures Dislikes: [-Getting bad grades on assignments she did her best on [-Getting told off for something she didn’t do [-Rain when she’s already in a bad mood [-Porridge [-Getting caught fighting [-Being put in detention [-Being the reason her house get points taken away [-Not being in on a joke [-Getting called mean for no reason [- People talking about her behind her back [-People that sound like fortune cookies when they talk to her
History: Since she first displayed any type of magical ability Gemma has lived with her grandparents, Julian and Normand Gayves.
You see, Gemma’s grandfather was a wizard but her mother was not and despised all things magical, even magic in fairytales when she was little because she was never able to do magic like her dad. So, when her daughter started to show magical abilities at a young age her mother started to hate her daughter for being something she never could. Gemma’s father sensed the hated of his wife towards his only daughter early on and decided it would be best for Gemma to live with his wife’s parents.
Gemma’s father continued to visit her as she grew, eventually bringing news of a younger non-magical brother being born, until her mother and father decided to move to the States and completely removed themselves from Gemma’s life.
Gemma grew up happily under her grandparents care, as they let her become an individual and helped her nurture her magical talent from a young age. The house was always full of love and, while they were not rich or anything, never really had to worry about anything of the financial sort.
It was an especially happy day in the household when Gemma received her Hogwarts letter. There was much cheering and happiness, as well as the purchasing of a cake. It was almost as if it was someone’s birthday!
The first six years of Hogwarts seemed to fly by, especially now that she’s looking back on them, with lots of friendships, heartbreaks, enemies, and tests. Now Gemma is just kind of concentrating on making her last year the best it can be.
ABOUT YOU Name: Aves Years of Experience: 4, maybe a few more Sample Post: Gemma Avery was doomed. She was so doomed that she was most likely the most doomed person that had ever been doomed. You see, upon Gemma’s chest was settled a great golden-eyed creature that, most likely, was envisioning Gemma as its next meal at that very second. And she was reasonably terrified. Gemma took a deep breath and tried to quickly devise an escape plan, but as the plan started to form inside of her mind the creature settled on top of her started to do the most wickedly evil thing it could possibly do. The creature started to… Purr. Okay, so maybe Gemma wasn’t as doomed as the previous text would lead you to believe. In fact, Gemma was far from as doomed as the previous text would lead you to believe. Actually, Gemma was perfectly safe. To be honest the great golden eyed creature was actually Gemma’s average sized, golden-eyed black cat that was affectionately known as Fiend. And most likely Fiend wasn’t envisioning Gemma as his next meal but rather envisioning Gemma making and serving him his next meal. What can I say, the cat was a pig. But what, you may just ask, brought about the idea of Fiend being a great golden-eyed creature that was prepared to eat Gemma? The answer is simple really… GEMMA WAS ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, AND WITHOUT A DOUBT BORED!! It was true, and most likely Gemma was the most bored she’d ever been. Which is pretty bored considering the fact she’d once been bored enough to ponder the creation of belly button lint and it’s role in the government’s evil plot to outlaw chocolate pudding cups and plastic spoons. It was a very interesting theory really, but it should probably be explained at a different time to really do it justice… With an irritated sigh Gemma sat up and leaned against the tree she’d so innocently been resting under, which disrupted Fiend from his spot on Gemma’s chest. “I seriously need to get a boyfriend or something…” Gemma muttered decidedly, as she’d somehow come across the idea that getting a love life would cure her of her boredom. And maybe, just maybe, it would. Other: Mimbulus Mimbletonia

I liked this app, it was a fun read ^^ The Appearance fields were particularly well written.
However, you haven't written nearly enough information in your Personality Field. If you are applying for an original character, the staff need to know enough about them to able to sort them into the right house. It says on the Form that 4 thick paragraphs are needed as a minimum. We understand that this can be quite vague, so this generally translates as 400 words. You have written a little over 200 - not acceptable I'm afraid.
Your History and Sample Post are also dangerously thin.
We are an Intermediate - Advanced site, leaning towards the Advanced end of the spectrum. This means that you must find it easy to write in detail consistently. Please try again to bring things up to standard.
Look at some of the other posts onsite, and see how much other members manage for every post.
