He just seems rather...upset. I thought you might know why.

Well, he and I haven't spoken for several days. So no. Even if I did, there's no reason for me to tell you.

Yeah, you've done a great job of being his "best friend" lately, haven't you?
There's no reason for you to suddenly care about Ian's well-being when you've ignored him since Christmas.

Benjamin's jaw worked furiously as he read over her words, trying not to let them get under his skin. But they did, fire-red like a hot poker slicing through his heartstrings. His previous treatment of his close friends was still a soft spot. Hell, he knew it would always remain a soft spot. Trying not to appear to physically affected, Benjamin tried to look beyond Wendy's clearly bitchy front for an explanation.
I don't see how that's relevant.

If you were still "best friends", don't you think he would tell you if something was wrong? You know how much he hates when you lot internalise your issues.

If your friends needed you, they'd come to you. But I think you've pushed everyone away for so long that they've learned how to get by without you.
Stifling her guilt, Wendy shoved the note at Benjamin and determinedly stared forward. He was a nice guy, and he was Ian's best friend, and she knew that. There was no reason for her to be such a bitch to him. But... But she just wanted him to leave her alone and stop asking about him. If lying was the way to get what she wanted, lying was what she would do.
