History: I think I've always felt like Lily and I have had a constant battle for Ethan's attention. Not that it was really any competition, let's be serious here. However, it's been enough for me to ward off Lily since day one. She's known him longer than I have which gives her an upperhand. When Ethan spends time with Lily it's definitely not with me. Because of this bias I suppose I've never taken the time to give her a fair chance and get to know her. I met her our third year and haven't said much but icy comments to her since. Since Ethan and I are going to be friends now, it appears inevitable that I....coroperate a little bit. Lily isn't horrible of course, she's just extremely, extremely....irritating. History: I remember it all clearly -- I was a lost, hopeless first year who had unfortunately and unintentionally strayed from the lead of the Head Girl and Boy as they herded us to our Common Rooms. I was terrified, thinking, “Oh Merlin, there’s stairs everywhere and they keep changing and I’m so lost and I’ve never been here before and I look like an idiot and I’m so scared that I won’t be able to find my group!” After a while it grew very quiet, and I was sitting, plopped down onto the floor leaning against the wall, next to what I learned was the entrance to the Slytherin dungeons. Everyone was gone. All I had was my wand and my senses and in situations such as these both were rendered useless. In spite of myself, I began to cry, for I felt scared and lonely and was away from home, not knowing anyone at all in the whole of the school. However, just as I was about to give up wandering and sleep right there on the floor, clad in my newly pattered Ravenclaw robes, I felt a hesitant tap on my shoulder and whirled around to face a red-headed Gryffindor with honest, bright green eyes. She asked me if I wanted her to take me to my Common Room, and I was so overcome with joy that I wiped my face, grabbed her hand, and nodded without another word. She talked to me for a while, introduced herself as Lily Evans, a second-year Gryffindor, and led me up to the Ravenclaw tower. She helped me on the riddle-like password, and, when I got in, she promised to help me again should I ever need it. I slept easily that night, knowing that I’d made a friend. My first magical friend. I was so proud that in the morning I wrote all about the encounter in my letter to my grandparents, telling them that she was so brave, being a Gryffindor and all, and that I wish I could be as brave as her. From that time on, I continued to get a little confused in the halls, and Lily was always right there to direct me to the right place. After a while I got the hang of things, and we shifted from hallway buddies to study buddies. We grew very close, and still are to this day. I’d trust her with my life. She’s probably the best friend I’ll ever have.

History: "I met Lily before I ever came to Hogwarts, at the time we were both much younger and she happened to live in the area around my street. Since we lived in the same neighborhood naturally we eventually bumped into one another. I met her one day in the park and from there on we became best friends as I told her about the wonders of Hogwarts. I recognized her abilities as a witch right away even though her muggle sister wanted badly to deny any existence of Hogwarts, Lily still believed me. Our friendship grew from those early days beneath the trees in that park under the shade hiding from the sun. We both received our letters around the same time and we both boarded the Hogwarts Express and chose the same compartment. It was perfect, nothing could have torn us apart .... but than James Potter and Sirius Black showed up. From that moment onwards things would change and become horribly distorted, Lily was sorted into Gryffindor and I was sorted into Slytherin. The infamous house rivalry set us both apart not to mention the new company that she was keeping. Through the years our friendship remained intact, that was until the end of fifth year hit. There was ..... there was a misunderstanding. We have not spoken since than really, I try and avoid her in the corridors these days as she does me."

At first we were amused by how much we had in common - after all, how often did someone run across two redheaded Muggle-borns in the same house? In my first couple years at Hogwarts, I was really struggling with Potions, and I confessed that I thought I was failing to Lily. She immediately rose to the challenge of trying to teach me, and with her tutoring I was getting the hang of Potions in no time. We've remained good friends for years, and I'm so happy for her and her starting a new chapter of her life with James.
