Character of the Moment: It is my sincerest pleasure to announce to you ISS’s COTM – Amelie Piper (as played by Mai). Since joining back in February she has already been involved in intricate plots and made many friends here on the site. Her dedication to not only ISS but also to her characters has been noticed by the staff and we’ve decided it was about time she was reward for being such a wonderful member.
Activity: Mai can still be considered fairly new to the boards but she’s already established a presence here and is at least on every other day. With as hectic as life can get while the end of the school year is approaching, I think that counts as high as for someone on every single day. Whenever she’s on she makes a point to answer to some threads or work on any of the other IC threads for Amelie (i.e. character log, journal, etc). She also keeps up OCC and is always friendly.
Character: Amelie is a wonderful creation that is played out fabulously. Her profile is definitely one of the better ones ISS has seen – it’s lengthy, has a Mai’s own personal touch on the format of the application, and the descriptions of each section are thorough. I personally am a fan of the detailed history and how it nicely ties into the personality field. Not surprisingly it’s an interesting read. Her profile is just as great as her posts are. You can tell that from the workings of Amelie’s profile Mai has been able to explore separate traits that Amelie possesses.
Threads: Does this even need comment? Every post I have seen from Mai exceeds the minimum. ISS thrives on long and juicy posts and for Mai to compile something of the likes seems effortless. I envy how easily Mai can slip into the mind of Amelie – it reflects in each post, which is one of the reason I love RPing with her. The plot between Amelie and Rabastan is without doubt one of my favorites. Being able to write with her always helps me learn how to better my own posts. Not to mention her posts simply look cool. I like how she takes lyrics from different songs that fit with that post particularly. Every one of them is done beautifully. Her knowledge (and let’s face it, patience) to deal with color coding is remarkable.
Character Log: I think it’s safe in saying Mai has started a trend – the use of three icons in a character log has been a newly discovered format that many now love. She’s gotten a few comments already about how amazing her work is – and obviously, each word of praise is rightly earned. Her work with graphics is amazing. I know you’re all aware of my lack in technology and mental brain stamina to deal with graphics so anyone that can do anything astounds me. However, Mai’s work seems to add that sort of personal flare that really speaks for itself. The splendid graphics complement her unique format and as always, the color codes are brilliant. Along with her original taste in style Mai keeps her relationships up to date and always posts back.
Journal: Easily one of my favorite diaries to read. Of course she does wonders with how the journal itself looks and the way Amelie is portrayed through her diary is commendable. Like her IC posts each one seems to add more life to Amelie and you can really see the world through her eyes. I may have a biased opinion when it comes to getting inside of Amelie’s head simply because I adore her interaction with Rabastan but I honesty believe even if you’ve never RPed with Mai before you’ll find Amelie’s diary a real treat. If you haven’t read through it already, you’ve got not idea what you’re missing.
Photo-album: The thread that really shows what Mai is capable of when it comes to spicing up her posts with graphics. I was blown away by the realism that Amelie’s album has the first time I saw it and from there it’s only gotten better. Each picture has a cute little frame around them and she uses a font that looks like it was hand written. I would also like to point out that the pictures she uses look like a photo one of us might take, not the fancy photo-shoot ones of their celebrity that wouldn’t pass as an ordinary, run-in-the-mill snap shot we’re accustom to. And, might I add, the one with Amelie has a child is simply adorable.
Believe it or not, that was only a brief description of why Mai as proved a valuable asset to the site. With a unanimous vote Amelie was the obvious option for this month’s selection for COTM. Her bright personality and amazing work with posts really stands out. Again, congratulations Mai – you deserve it!
