→ Emmeline Vance, Luke Neeson, & Vanessa Vaughn !
So if any of you were keeping up at all with the Yule Ball thread, one of the plots that certainly stood out to me was the plot between Luke, Emme, and Vanessa. The writing here by Ry, Arti, and Fief is a perfect display of how great our players are. Everyone is perfectly in character. Vanessa doesn't even hesitate when she sees Gabby in distress, even if Vanessa herself is distraught; Emmeline, who couldn't get over what she thought was wrong, even for a friend; and Luke, who became adorably discombobulated when Ambrosia told him she loved him. One of my favorite parts about these posts is that the night starts out so plain for them. All three characters are just trying to have fun at the dance like normal teenagers. Another thing I was appreciative of was how involved and intertwined Ry, Arti, and Fief allowed their characters to get with the others characters, whether it be Luke's meeting with Ambrosia or Vanessa and Emme comforting Gabby. It's a realistic representation of what a dance might actually be like, rather than two characters interacting solely with another like a lot of the writing on ISS seems to be. And, just as good writing will do to you, this trio's posts made me feel feels. Like, as I read Vanessa's posts, I was sitting there in horror, feeling so, so bad for her. Of course, I wanted to smack Emme because what she said was horrible - but accurate, considering that back in the day, being gay wasn't exactly welcomed with open arms, and whenever I read anything of Luke's I'm overwhelmed and want to jump on him because he is just so dasfdlsafkjdslafkjds. Arti, Fief, and Ry definitely deserve this award. Congrats to you three!
Okay, so I hope that by now all of you realise that Hufflepuffs aren't just there, nor are they silly, happy-go-lucky students who do everything right. At least, they're not here on ISS, and this plot with Luke, Vanessa and Emmeline is a perfect example of how Hufflepuffs can have just as much drama - if not more! - than those reckless Gryffindors. And what I especially love about how this plot played out is how there's characters outside intertwined with the ones directly involved as well - Ambrosia confessing her love to Luke shortly after Emmeline, the girl he's been crushing on for 5984960 years, kissed him, and Emmeline going after Gabby like the good friend that she is when she noticed that she was upset, and there she sees Vanessa, who proceeds to confess her love to her, and it's not weird for Emmeline just because she doesn't feel the same way about Vanessa, but also because she isn't completely comfortable with the idea of gay people. This plot is just so thick and intense and oh my God I just can't wait to see more from those three, and to see who else will be directly - or indirectly - affected by this love triangle. Whatever they do, I just know it's going to be worth following.
