{ A B O U T . T H E . C H A R A C T E R } Name: Alani Sera Rhemington Age: Sixteen Gender: Female Year: 6th Face Claim: Alyson Stoner
Canon or Original? Original
Facial Properties: She was born with brown hair, it’s true, now in her teen years she has been known to dye it different colors and play around with it, but naturally, her hair is a chestnut reddish brown color. Still speaking naturally, it’s generally pretty straight. Sometimes on an off hair day, it will do something ridiculous, but on a good normal day, Alani’s hair is straight and long. She has it cut so it’s layered, so at least it has some volume. She can curl it and make it wavy, or extremely curly, but she likes it straight. She likes the feeling of it blowing in the wind. It feels like she’s making a statement. Besides her hair, her eyes stand out pretty strongly. You think they’d be brown, or an amber color. But no, her eyes are a shade of green actually. You wouldn’t think so because of the contrast with her hair, but if you look closer, they are definitely a greenish color. Another out there feature about Alani is that her lips are very narrow. They form a very defined smile, almost crooked and turned in some ways, but pretty none the less. It’s just different; she definitely doesn’t have a shy smile. It’s a look at me sort of smile. With or without make up, she can snap all attention to her smile with the shape of her lips. She hasn’t decided if she’s extremely excited about the skill she has, but she uses it to her best abilities whether it be flattering her daddy’s work partners or luring in someone she wanted something from, it worked out all the same to her. Alani likes her makeup, it definitely helps her express herself in ways she’s actually happy with. Being satisfied with anything on her body was just almost impossible with Alani. She almost hated the way she looked, if she had the choice she would change it all. Her face, her nose, and her eyes; everything was just wrong on her! Despite all compliments she receives and as recognized as she is as one of those pretty girls, she can’t seem to be satisfied for even a second when she looks in the mirror.
Physique: Along with most of the other girls in her year, she rocks a body that is pretty ordinary. She isn’t fat, being fat would kill Alani. She keeps her body in shape and monitors her eating well for a girl her age. She isn’t too keen on packing in the pounds. She can’t even bare to think about what would happen if she was anything over at the most 120 lbs. Boys look at her, and she knows this. She might as well make it a pretty sight for them. Being 5’4, she’s average height but a little on the small side. It doesn’t really stand out when compared among girls, but to boys she is known as quite the short one. Alani is very interested in sports despite her careful attitude about her body. One might say that she is too much of a sissy for sports, but boy does she surprise them. Being a little on the angry side, she channels her emotions well into Magical sports like Quidditch. Would she be better for cheerleading? Pah, she wouldn’t have that kind of coordination if they hired a professional private coach to train her. Truth be told, it’s a miracle Alani can stay atop a broom, which she does quite well, but she has a hard time with balance. It might be because she never eats quite enough.
Wand Type: 11’’ Ash, Stallion hair Wand Expertise: Defensive spells Patronus: Elephant Boggart: Herself but evil Personality: How could someone hate themselves? It was weird to think that Alani could hate herself so much. But it was to the point where she was starving herself. She needed to be thinner, she needed to be prettier. It was every teenager’s nightmare and Alani was living it. Slowly, day by day, she was killing herself. It started out as an idea of improving her health because she thought being healthy was very important for her to maintain. Around the middle of her fourth year, things changed for her body and socially and so she began thinking differently as well. She truly thinks she isn’t good enough, and so a way to change that about herself, she stopped eating well. She would cut out some meals in her day to drop a few pounds so she could feel good about herself. But she still can’t see the pretty girl that stands before her when she looks in the mirror. She wants her to be erased, she just wants herself to be gone. It’s really unhealthy, and she doesn’t know what started these feelings; she wasn’t always like this. She was once a very happy child, never having to worry about not fitting in. But the pressure of being the prettiest girl in the school has gotten to her head, and she’s slowly going down a dangerous path that could soon turn deadly. She hasn’t passed out yet from lack of food, but she has started to feel very dizzy throughout the day. It makes her feel good about herself though, when she looks in the mirror and can see her hip bones sticking out. It makes her feel pretty, as disgusting as that sounds. No one knows why she hates the way her body looks. Everyone from the beginning of her life knew that she would turn out to be a pretty tom boy. However, that wasn’t enough for Alani. Once things turned into the popularity game, she knew that she needed to turn her game plan around. She needed to be pretty, and she couldn’t be the tom boy that she grew up as. She needed to perfect. Who would like her if she wasn’t exactly that? Perfect.
The saddest part about Alani’s eating disorder is that she is just a sweetheart that wants to be liked. She’s not a snotty bitch that hopes to make every other girl’s life a living hell. No, she just wants to fit in and make friends. During her first three years at Hogwarts, she only had a few friends. She was a tom boy that didn’t care what anyone thought. It was about living life the best way possible in her younger years, and she was loving it. She wore a smile all the time and wouldn’t let anyone get the best of her. But the summer before her fourth year she began to change. She started noticing that the girls around her were wearing makeup, and starting to get boyfriends. She had never thought of boys like that, she had always just been friends with them, but as she watched her friends flirt with boys and get attention back from them, she realized that was what she wanted. It wasn’t that she was always a bitch, she just wanted a little more attention from her peers. So she began wearing makeup, and slowly as she covered up her natural beauty, she began to cover up her true self too. This new fake Alani emerged out of her. Someone that was boring, not herself. Someone that was just at the parties, a follower, no one special. Just, another party girl that got the guys. It was true that she enjoyed the attention, but there was always that part in her that felt empty. She knew that she didn’t like who she was, she knew that it wasn’t her. But she also felt like she couldn’t stop. Who wanted to be friends with the tom boy Alani? She needed to be this fake girl. Even if she was the sweetest and most innocent girl in the world in real life, she still wanted people to like her, and if that meant hiding her true self, then so be it. Maybe that was what was going to have to happen.
Alani is a genius. She doesn’t know how or why, but she has always excelled in school. Her parents were drug addicts, and yet she ended up with a brain? Alani didn’t know how, but she was great at everything she did in school. She loved it too. No one noticed that she was a school nerd either, that was the best part of being a follower. As much as she wanted the popularity that she seeked, no one except her close friends seemed to care about who she really was. It was rough that that was the cold hard facts, but it was better than kids teasing her for being such a book freak. Her favorite thing to do at night was take out a novel and just dive into it and enjoy it. Or sometimes when she would be in the Great Hall while her friends were eating their meals, she would read. It was a good way to distract herself from the hunger pains she felt. In class Alani would always pay attention, she would take notes and keep herself organized. She got great grades and her teachers liked her. It was refreshing to actually be able to succeed in something. It was uplifting even. So books were her savior. She didn’t mind too much, as long as no one gave her shit for it, she would keep reading. It wasn’t like it was keeping her from being popular. And it was so refreshing to be able to dive into someone else’s life and be able to forget about her own horrible teenage hardships. Her fear is that some kid in her class would tease her about trying so hard in school. Something like that would really hurt her inside. She didn’t want to be thought of as a loser. That would really hurt her, and it wasn’t her fault that books and studying were one of the few things she felt at ease doing without any worries.
If you get to know Alani, you’ll start to see her old self. The girl that’s spunky, that actually has her own formed opinion about what she wants to do, and who she wants to be. Under all that fake teenage girl bullshit is a really shy girl who just wants to have friends who love her. Whether her confusion came from the parents who chose drugs over her, or it being the girls in her house that got all the attention from the boys, all Alani really wants is someone to accept her. It’s weird how people can define who you are, and Alani definitely has struggled with letting people take over her self control. But she hasn’t been able to see the light of being her own person and sticking up for herself and realizing that she is getting out of control. As of right now she thinks everything is okay the way it is. She’s too shy and sweet to say no to what is happening to herself. But maybe there’s hope for her. She hasn’t turned into a bitch like so many other girls around her have. At least she has that to be proud of. She could have easily turned out like that too. All the bitter feelings from her parents betrayal, it’s really lucky and by chance that she didn’t turn out a bitch. If she were a cold-hearted bitch they might be no hope for her at all.

History: Her father was a Ravenclaw and her mother was a Slytherin. Mackenzie Laurens and Charlie Rhemington were misunderstood students that found love in each other. They were dating at the end of their seventh year and just after their graduation Mackenzie was already with child. They were too young to understand the problems of having children so young, so they continued to party hard, while she was pregnant with Alani. You could call them stupid; they’re weren’t exactly ready to think of anyone but themselves yet. Especially not Mackenzie. She didn’t want a child. Not yet anyway. Charlie and her weren’t even married yet, but everything knew it wouldn’t be long, they were perfect for each other. But the way everyone assumed that they were going to be together forever slightly pissed Mackenzie off. She didn’t like the idea of being tied down, and she especially didn’t like the idea of her unborn baby being the decider of that. So she partied harder than ever and tried to forget that she was with child. Charlie however had a brain, and new that his child’s life was in danger with Mackenzie throwing herself around like and so he began to take charge. He told her that she couldn’t do the things that she wanted to do like smoke pot and drink. This really pissed off Mackenzie, but she knew he was right. The last bit of dignity left inside her made her stop too. At least until the baby was born.
And seven months later Alani Ellie Rhemington was born. Charlie was thrilled to see his daughter, but Mackenzie seemed like she could really care less. Charlie didn’t understand this motive from his girlfriend and he questioned her. Her excuse was that she wasn’t ready to settle down and raise the child. She even admitted to thinking of leaving and going off on her own. Charlie was appalled at this idea and raged over at Mackenzie. The young mother saw this coming and took the abuse without question or attempts to get him to stop. Deep down she knew he was right, but she also didn’t want to admit it. So she let him vent and then packed up her stuff and left. Charlie was furious. He didn’t know what to do. All he knew was that Alani was with him now and he had no idea how to raise a child. He seeked help from his friends, but they too were too busy with their young partied out lives. This only made Charlie angrier. He grew so angry that he only interacted with Alani when she needed food, or her diaper changed. He didn’t give her the love she deserved. Alani grew scared and depressed. But of course with the lack of attention that Charlie was giving her, no one noticed or helped the poor baby’s distress.
When Alani was two, Mackenzie came back. Charlie didn’t know what to say. He was actually speechless when he saw his girlfriend walk back through the front door. Maybe it was the new look that scared him or the way she had just packed up her life and left him, but he wasn’t sure how he felt about it. It was obvious that he had missed her, but he also didn’t want her to get away with what she had done to him. So he demanded answers. Of course, the shock of the century was that Mackenzie gave him no answers. Except she flopped down on his couch and actually pulled out meth crystals from her purse. Charlie looked at it for a split second before blowing up at Mackenzie. A screaming fight followed that lasted for a few hours that left Charlie by himself with just Alani’s soft cries from the bedroom. He didn’t know what to do. Mackenzie was gone again and probably never coming back. He didn’t know what to do, his life was falling apart. It was that moment when he realized that she had the drugs on the coffee table. Looking at them, a strange sense of remembrance from all the partying he had done with Mackenzie at Hogwarts flashed through his eyes. It was almost calling his name. He couldn’t do it.. There was a child waiting for him in his bedroom. No he couldn’t… But it was right there. And before he could stop himself, he was with drug. It was such a rush! He needed more.. He needed to find Mackenzie at that second. And with that he ran out the door. Alani was alone, by herself for an entire night.
The next morning a stranger came to the house and found Alani and picked her up. It was Todd, her brother’s best friend from his younger years at Hogwarts. Todd had also been a Ravenclaw and didn’t follow Charlie into the ways of partying, but they remained close. It turned out, Charlie had called him the previous night and was boosting about how he had tried the meth. At that point Todd wasn’t even listening to Charlie anymore because his mind was on Alani and getting her out of that situation. So Todd brought Alani back to his house and kept her there for a few weeks. He always expected some sort of custody battle for Alani but it never came. Todd never heard back from Charlie and Mackenzie again, and so it just happened that Alani grew up at Todd’s house. He was like a dad to her, but she always knew that he wasn’t her blood father. She thought of him as a guardian and she was always grateful, but she also wanted to know why her parents could have just left her to die. She didn’t understand how her parents could be that idiotic and heartless. She didn’t understand the full story and how hard it is for teenage parents, but she didn’t really care either. As a young 5 year old understood it, her own parents left her for drugs. She didn’t really understand what drugs were at that age, but she knew that they were very bad and dangerous and a lot of people died for them and great amounts of money were lost for them, and so she could put two and two together and realize that they were horrible things. She didn’t even want to meet her parents. She was perfectly happy living with Todd and his Saint Bernard Luke.
As she grew up and began Hogwarts, she was a little tom boy. Her best friends were the boys that played in the streets with her in summer, and she grew up knowing only how to play with guys. Never having a motherly figure in her life, she never really learned the girly side of her until she attended Hogwarts. Being at Hogwarts was actually the first time she had ever experienced living with girls let alone being around them. They were very different then her and she didn’t like it. She didn’t like how they acted and how they held themselves together. They were too sissy for Alani’s liking. But as the years went on and guys turned from being something you were friends with to something you wanted to kiss, Alani realized that she needed to change. And so, the transformation began. It was like one day she just woke up and realized that she hated herself. She wanted to change everything about herself. She wanted to be a popular girl. She didn’t want to be a tom boy. Never again would she play in the streets and not care what she looked like. She wanted to be something both guys and girls would look to and admire. She really wanted to be that girl. She wanted to party and experiment, it was in her blood to party and explore what was out there, but even with such a curiosity she was very much against drugs. When her friends tried to tell her just try and smoke pot, she screamed and ran away. It was the first time she had thrown a fit at a public event. But it was well worth it. It wasn’t that she was scared because it was drugs and drugs were icky. It wasn’t like she was one of those naïve kids who just automatically assumed they were bad. She saw up close and personally how they affect and tear apart families. She would never get into that. At least she could thank her parents for something; they kept her out of harms way with drugs.
