{ A B O U T . T H E . C H A R A C T E R } Name: Gracie Peyton Marlow Age: Fourteen Gender: Female Year: Fourth Face Claim: Selena Gomez
Canon or Original? Original
Facial Properties: Upon meeting Gracie for the first time, you’ll likely notice her lips first. Although they are not huge or anything, they are quite prominent on her heart-shaped face. They almost always have a gloss of some sort on them to make them seem more noticeable. The next thing you’ll notice are her honey-colored eyes; she sees them as a plain, boring brown, but she has always gotten compliments on the way her eyes turn different shades in the sunlight. Gracie also has fabulous hair that curls slightly in a completely natural way. It is fairly long, going a little past her shoulders and is naturally a dark brown, almost black color. Gracie’s skin tone is completely unique to her and her family, considering she is adopted. Her skin is a beautiful olive color and seems to never have a blemish on it- ever. Her petite heart-shaped face adds to her size, making her seem almost smaller than she already is. Her face has extreme balance to it, however, and her forehead is much larger than she would like it to be. Physique: Gracie is very balanced when it comes to her body size. Everything about her is… well, small. She is only four feet and eleven inches- a fact that her brothers like to tease her about. She only weighs about one hundred and ten pounds, and can easily be mistaken for one of the first years if you didn’t realize it was her in the hallway. She has always been self-conscious about her weight and has struggled with it for three years. Her hands are tiny as well, but they are extremely soft and show no sign of ever having to work in her lifetime. She has short legs and a slightly longer torso, although she would be considered to have a square body frame. She is not very curvy, but considering she is only fourteen, she still has room for improvement.
Wand Type: 9 inches, Cherry Wood base with a Dragon Heartstring core Wand Expertise: Especially good for Charms Patronus: Gracie’s patronus is a Unicorn. Boggart: Gracie’s boggart would definitely be her family being killed. Personality: Gracie is first and foremost a musician in every way, shape and form. That is the biggest thing you need to realize about this girl. Not only is she a talented singer, she has taught herself to play the piano, acoustic guitar, violin and drums. She tends to try to find a way to relate her life to any muggle musical she can and always tries to find the ‘motive’ of whatever she is doing at the time. She began singing as soon as she could talk and was brought up watching musicals with her mum whenever they could afford it.
Secondly, Gracie loves, loves LOVES dancing! Any form- ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, ballroom, contemporary, hip-hop: you name it, Gracie has taken a class in it at some point in her life. Starting at the wee age of four, the past ten years of her life have been dedicated to dance lessons and singing lessons. In fact, her parents wondered for a while if she was merely talented at these things or if she was somehow magically enhancing her abilities…
Gracie, bless her soul, cannot STAND people who can’t take a joke! She loves all things funny and will praise anyone who can make her laugh. She claims that her funny bone is her favorite bone and that she couldn’t imagine a life without constantly laughing. She’s not really one to prank people, but she will be a part of one if no one is going to get hurt or angry.
Randomosity is a word Gracie made up for herself. She thinks it describes her perfectly. If you’ve ever known someone who will be walking down the street and just randomly start singing or someone who will see a sign in the window of a building that says “Help Wanted” and will run into the store yelling, “What’s wrong?!”, that’s Gracie. She will start laughing at a joke from three days ago because she just thought of it, even if she’s in the middle of a class and will doodle things on her homework and turn it in that way. That’s just how Gracie is. If you can learn to deal with it- great! If not, then whatever. Gracie is one of those students that loves to be loud. She can’t help it and she doesn’t try on purpose, she just is. She has confidence issues, due to the fact that she is so tiny, so she feels that if everyone is going to stare at her for that, they might as well be staring at her for something she can handle. She has always been the smallest on in her class (mostly because she was born a preemie) and hates it. With a passion.

History: Gracie has no clue when she was born, however she does know when she was placed into the adoption agency. As she’s been told, the workers found her in a blanket outside of the agency’s door on the night of April 8. It was a rather chilly spring day, around four in the afternoon. The workers had been getting ready to leave for the day and had stumbled upon the baby that would soon be named Gracie. It took her all of a year and a half in the adoption agency before she was adopted by her now-loving parents, Samson and Saoirse Marlow.
Gracie’s home life was fairly normal. She was adopted into a family of three children, herself included as the only girl. The reason she had been adopted was because her mother, Saoirse, loved children and had been hoping to have another one when she had a still-born that almost cost Saoirse’s life. From day one, Gracie knew she had been adopted. To be honest, she would’ve known even if her parents hadn’t told her- she was the only child in the family that didn’t have red hair! As a child, Gracie was always running around trying to get into things (especially things she wasn’t supposed to get into). She was constantly being chased by her stay-at-home mother and loved making mud pies in the back yard with her brothers, Patrick and Riley.
Gracie knew about wizards from the moment her eldest brother, Patrick was accepted into Hogwarts. He was only three years older than her, but she was so jealous that she told him she couldn’t wait for him to leave! Later that night, her mother told her that, although they couldn’t be sure (since she was adopted), they thought it was a god possibility that Gracie had some kind of powers too. They had seen a spark of something there. When she turned nine, she finally started to show her powers. The whole family had been gathered in the back yard that summer; Patrick and Riley were showing her how to perform a spell they had been taught at school. It was called “Wingardium Leviosa”. Wanting to try, Gracie grabbed Patrick’s wand out of his hand and yelled the incantation, pointing the wand toward their father. The garden tool he had been using flew straight out of his hands and landed a few feet away. She was so excited!
At school, Gracie has been known as the ‘rocker chick’- she’s the one people like to hang out with and boys like to flirt with. She’s very down-to-earth and honest about everything, which is why she’s been so successful in most of her schooling. She acts like she doesn’t really care about grades and whatnot, choosing to focus more on her music than on homework and studying, but in reality, she’s just extremely smart. Some may say she has a photographic memory, but it isn’t quite to that capability. She can just remember things really, really easily.
Sample Post: Gracie awoke with a start, hitting her alarm clock repeatedly until it stopped making noise. This was a part of her daily routine. Sadly, the day had other plans for her… The door to her room sprung open, hitting against the wall with a loud thud. Groaning, Gracie turned onto her stomach and pulled the pillow over her head, trying to ignore her mother’s excited chirps of, “Get up! It’s tie to rise and shine, Gracie! Greet the morning!” Go away… she thought, waiting for her mother to leave before actually rolling out of her twin-sized bed. Scratching her stomach, she entered the kitchen to find the rest of the family already eating their breakfast. “That’s real classy, Gracie… Thanks for just ruining my appetite.” Her brother Patrick said playfully. How the rest of them can get up so early, I will never know… Oh cool! Jam and toast! She stuck her tongue out at her brother and sat down in one of the wooden chairs, grabbing herself a plate. “Aren’t you excited, Gracie?” Her mother asked from the stove where she was frying bacon, “Today you leave for your fourth year at Hogwarts!” Gracie rolled her eyes and took a big gulp of milk in order to dodge the question. Sure, she was… excited, but it was her fourth year! It wasn’t a huge deal anymore.
“It’s my last year! Geez… never get any credit around here. It’s always Gracie, Gracie, Gracie…” Patrick nudged her with his elbow playfully. They shared a secretive smile- out of both of her brothers, Patrick was her favorite. He had said that just to get the attention off of her and she was mighty thankful. “Thanks.” She muttered under her breath, seeing his wink to let her know she was welcome. “Patrick is just jealous ‘cause I’m the pretty one in the family.” At that, the rest of the family laughed.
“You’d better hussle if you don’t want to be late for the train,” her mother warned. “Did you pack last night like I asked you to?” Gracie made a face at her breakfast and asked to be excused. When she was, she ran to her room and began to wildly throw clothes, books and other things into her trunk. She didn’t even notice when Riley appeared in her doorway. “Um, Mom wanted me to tell you that the train doesn’t wait for procrastinators… But I guess you probably already figured that one out, huh?” He smiled cheekily and she threw an old slipper at his face, telling him she would be down in a second… As soon as she found her cat, Momo… He had to around there somewhere…
