{ Q U I C K . Q U I Z } How did you find us? I used to be on a site called The Time Turner and I was searching for it, only to find it had closed down. Then I ran across your site on google. What about ISS inspired you to join? The layout and the sense of organization and quirkiness. Do you have any suggestions for us? Nope. You're doing an excellent job.

{ A B O U T . T H E . C H A R A C T E R } Name: Delain De Castro Barjaque Age: 16 Gender: Male Year: 6th Face Claim: Tom Sturridge
Canon or Original? Original
Facial Properties: Delain has a very expressive and unique face. Though none notice it at the first sight of him. When first looked upon, Delain appears to have a plain boyish and round face. But upon further examination one notices that his face is actually very versatile, taking on all manner of shapes. It merely depends on the angle that you are looking at it from. Delain has startling blue eyes that appear to go on forever. This is especially noticeable whenever he gets excited about anything. His smile is also equally as expressive. It is wide and joyful, revealing rows of slightly uneven teeth. Delain's nose is rather long and pointed at the end, which excentuates the unusual look of his face. His hair is dark brown with a slight reddish undertone. It is rather thick and extremely unruly, appearing to be teased. Though often it can appear very flat if not washed for a few days. Physique: Delain is very thin and not extremely athletic, though certainly not an unusual size for a boy his age. His arms are rather long in appearance and he is of a medium height. He wouldn't be described as "bony" but rather "curvy" or "hippy", which is unusual for a boy, especially at his age. His feet are surprisingly small in proportion with the rest of his body and he has a slightly long neck. In fact, a lot of his body is in unusual proportions. His hands are very small in conjunction with the length of his arms, the same with his feet and legs.
Wand Type: Willow with a polished wash. 14". Rather supple and whippy. With a core of Dragon Heartstring. Wand Expertise: Excellent for Transfiguration and Defensive or Protective Magic. Patronus: A Jack Rabbit Boggart: Delain is terrified of total darkness. Therefore, the boggart would transform into all of the things that Delain imagines lurk in the dark. Personality: Delain is very easily excited, often obnoxiously so. He is also very easily brought down by bad news. Some could call this a problem with mood swings. When Delain is excited his entire face lights up and his voice becomes a bit more high pitched. He is often very wild and unruly, though without meaning to be.
Delain can sometimes be a bit of a know it all, unable to really see when he is doing it. He will often interrupt the teacher when they are talking, though most often his answers are partially incorrect. Despite his over-excitability and obnoxious nature, Delain is extremely disciplined when he puts his mind to something. He is wildly creative and, though he doesn't often reveal it, it shines through when he sets his mind to a project or assignment.
Just like most of his other emotions, Delain has an unpredictable temper, which sometimes proves to be a disservice to him when it comes to social situations. Most often he is able to control his temper and hold back. Though when he loses it, there is no stopping the tantrums that follow until he has calmed down on his own.
Despite all his faults, Delain is a very caring friend and is very easy to become acquainted with. He is kind and often does things just for the sake of making someone happy. He is never judgmental, unless it comes to deliberate stupidity in class. He is extremely proud and this constantly shows in his school work. His least favorite and worst subject being Care of Magical Creatures. And his best being Transfiguration. Though often, when answering a question in class, he is so anxious to answer that he doesn't plan his answer out completely, which proves to be a disservice to him.
Schoolwork is often the subject of what sets him off. Delain cannot stand to be bothered when studying and will easily snap during exam time. But normally this is only the case due to his inconsistent study habits. Delain has a deep love of music and will often clear out the entire common room with his incessant singing and dancing to the Wizarding Wireless.

History: Delain was born to a large family of witches and wizards which originated in the South of France. His mother was Callistra Sweeting, descended from the famous Havelock Sweeting the magizoologist. His father was John Barjaque. The two love birds had the classic story of meeting at Hogwarts and falling in love. His mother was in Ravenclaw, his father in Hufflepuff. As a child Delain was very loved. His father was a very kind and giving man and his mother was nurturing and very clever.
Unlike most other Wizarding families who have all been in either one or two houses, Delain's family was very diverse. There was experience with every Hogwarts House in their blood. The home consisted of two grandmothers Amber and Crecia Sweeting, an aunt Allegra Barjaque, an older cousin Tristan Belafluer, Callistra, John and Delain all living in a very wide house with several tower rooms stacked atop the first floor.
As a child, Delain loved playing outside and was always a great lover of music. His mother used to keep him home with her and cook enormous meals and they would both listen to the Wizarding Wireless together. And bake. Around the time that Delain was four, he was attacked by a runspoor while out on a camping trip with his entire family. The three headed snake somehow snuck into the family's tent looking for a place to lay its fiery eggs. The small child just happened to be playing in there at the time and was bitten.
Since then, Delain has disliked the art of caring for magical creatures. Which, as his mother says is "Practically a betrayal to Havelock's memory". Once at Hogwarts, Delain had a lot of difficulty adjusting to the new environment and cold drafty corridors. As a result his school work suffered, though he was very excited to prove how clever and capable he was. Somehow, he was able to pull it all together toward the end of the year and passed with flying colors.
The following second, third, and fourth years passed with ease for the boy, resulting in his receipt of three Outstanding's on his O.W.L.s in the fifth year. These high marks were in Transfiguration, Potions, and Charms. They were accompanied by two E's in Defense Against the Dark Arts and History of Magic, two A's in Divination and Herbology. And a P in Care of Magical Creatures.
Sample Post: Lara smiled. So it was a battle of the wills, then, eh? Malfoy seemed very sure of the stability of his position in the school. A little too sure. She would have to keep him on his toes then. Along with Alexis. McGonagall had not entrusted her with this position if she believed it to be too much or impossible. And in any event, Lara was always up for a challenge. Even if it was as mediocre and childish as a battle of wits and wills. Her smile only widened as he continued. She could sense a bit of panic as his words spilled over one another when she implied about his Death Eater days. Surely he wasn't thick enough to think that Minerva hadn't warned her and all the other staff members. Hogwarts was a close knit community, after all. It always had been. when the Chamber of Secrets had been opened back in her third year, all the teachers knew what was really happening. Dumbledore always ensured it. And, so far, McGonagall had done the same.
"It was just a simple question. Light information, at best. Nothing too important." She smiled again, trying to lull him into a false sense of confidence. Before she moved in for the kill, "And as far as the student's potions go, you seem quite confident. And you wouldn't want the students to think anything less of you, would you? You will test the potions. Or you'll find a job elsewhere. Understood? And if for any moment,"
She stepped up to his podium, narrowing her eyes. The soft smile she'd held before, gone. "You think of undermining my authority again. I'll see to it that you never step foot in this castle again. I don't care who you are, who your daddy was, or what almighty powers you possess. Do. Not. Cross. Me. Now, I hope that we can come to some sort of compromise. I wouldn't want this to be a difficult year for either of us. But, I do say, it might be more difficult for you, if you keep up this way. Now finish teaching your class. I'll be making my rounds to ensure that they all know the proper safety with the ingredients. But, oh, yes, you didn't go over that with them, did you? Pity."
Backing down, Lara kept her gaze on the professor. She felt a bit exhilerated. She had never been the type of person to allow someone else to dictate her position for her. And she wasn't about to start now. She took great pride in her position in the school. Sure, she was harsh and very hard to get along with. But that's why McGonagall trusted her so much. She swept along the aisles, taking notes on how each student performed during the brewing.

WOO NEW BOY!
*ahem*
Alright the only thing I would say is that you need to beef up your paragraphs. As stated in the rules, this is a moderate/advanced RP site, so we've upped the bar for the minimum our members can post But since you have more than the minimum of paragraphs, I'll let it slide, just make sure you have at least six lengthy sentences for each paragraph, and you'll be good. Other than that?
accepted!
