{ A B O U T . T H E . C H A R A C T E R } Name: Dale Wilkes. Age: Seventeen. Gender: Male. Year: Seventh. Face Claim: Ed Westwick. [Don’t worry! I’ve asked for permission and it’s okay with Biz and Jessie.]
Canon or Original? Canon.
Facial Properties: Let’s start with his brown, short hair. This boy is very concerned about how he looks and how other people see him. His hair is the one part of him he spends most time on, besides his style. He’s almost got a hairstyle for each day of the week, but it’s more affected of his mood than anything else. If he’s in a good mood it’s high, modern, windblown and suits him way better than if he’s in a bad mood and he just combs it down. Then we’ve got his brown, bedroom eyes, framed by his heavy eyebrows. He’s always thought his nose a little bit too big for his face, but it’s evened out by his lips. His eyes always seem like they’re smiling, even though his lips aren’t. He’s not the prettiest boy you can encounter on the street, but he can be quite charming if he wants to.
Physique: This boy hasn’t really got anything to show off. He’s not that muscular, even though he’s got everything needed to keep himself fit for a fight at home. He keeps a normal weight and looks healthy, though he drinks too much. Dale has never been into sweets or unhealthy food, partly because that’s how he’s been raised. His weight differs from year to year. He’s had a year or two when he’s been a little bit too skinny for his own good, mostly because he’s been working too hard during the summer back home at his fathers. He’s just about 5’9”, it’s not a lot, but it’s enough. He’s not as broad shouldered as other boys, but he’s still got a strong built.
Wand Type: 10”, rosewood, dragon heartstring. Wand Expertise: Especially good at counter attacks. Patronus: Greyhound Boggart: Dementor
Personality: THE NAME IS DALE WILKES. YOU BETTER REMEMBER, BECAUSE YOU’RE GOING TO HATE IT
You have two choices from here; either you hate him or you can tolerate him. Dale has yet to find someone who actually likes him for who he is. The problem is his changing of personality every fifth second. He never gives people enough time to try and figure him out. He couldn’t care less of what others might think of him, he’s more of a ‘you’ve-gotta-take-me-for-who-I-am’ type of person, but generally people hate him more than they can tolerate him. He can seem like a two-time cheating bastard who couldn’t care less about his friends, though that’s not always the truth. He would do a lot for the people he cares for – of course he would do it his own way, which isn’t always the right way – and he wouldn’t take the credit. Dale hates when people think they owe him some sort of repayment or favor. He’s a master of getting caught at the wrong moment when he’s actually trying to do some good, and it’s never to his favor, but he’s satisfied with being the one knowing the truth. When everything comes down to that he just wants to see his few friends happy than earning their thanks.
Dale’s social skills are rather good, but he doesn’t always use them as he could. He’s the type of person who knows how to bend and shape himself so that he can fit wherever he wants to. He observes, remembers and then he uses it on the floor when needed. Dale believes in better knowing what you talk about before opening your mouth. The more you know the easier to get in. But then again, he’s better at adding enemies to his list than friends. You need to earn his friendship, not the other way around. You see, he thinks his own company is good enough, that he doesn’t need those kinds of friends. He absolutely despises the people befriending him for his status or name, and trust me – he will know when you’re a real friend and when you’re not. Dale is more likely to be the person standing at the bar, pouring down one drink after the other waiting for people to come to him, than be the person who walks around the floor seeking out others. He’s not the life of the party, but he still knows how to make it interesting. He hardly ever starts a conversation, unless it’s with his friends.
WE’RE NOT BORN TO BE WHO WE ARE; WE CHOOSE TO BE THE PERSON WE BECOME
Dale resembles his father in many ways. He can be just as stone cold crazy, cares more about the business than anything else. This boy has only loved once; all the other girls have been mere fun – a way to spend his time. He worries about his reputation, but not in the maniac kind of way like his father. He wants his father to be proud of what he does, but the more negative response he gets the less he cares. Dale has done a lot of stupid things in the seventeen years he’s been breathing the same air as his father. All he’s every wished for, was for people to accept him for who he is. He’s never done anything less than his absolute best. He’s clever and cunning and knows how to get what he wants. Everything is a game, or he’ll make it a game. The first to the finish line…
You might think him evil by nature, but that’s not the case. It’s just been easier for him to be as hard and impenetrable as stone, with a heart of lead than anything else. With a family like his that was the only way for him to survive with a little bit of his sanity left. Dale doesn’t hate the person he has become; it’s just a simple question of adjusting. He’s a pureblood and cares more for his “own kind” than the mudbloods, but he can talk to everybody. Of course, there’s no promise of him going easy on them. He hasn’t got the superior complex as others with his status. He’s hardly ever mean towards others. You wouldn’t find him using magic whenever he’s angry or upset. He’s a firm believer of revenge being the best attack, and he’s very patient when it comes to that. If he’ll have to wait days before getting his revenge, he’ll do it, but he won’t spend them sitting in the sofa drinking fire whisky. He will spend them learning as much as possible about his enemy. He’ll find all the weak points. He’ll deceive his way to success if that’s needed. Don’t take him lightly! If he doesn’t succeed his first try he’ll keep on fighting until he wins. A setback is after all, just a setback.

History:
ONCE UPON A TIME
Once upon a time a reunion was made between two families – an engagement between the Auburns and the Wilkes. It wasn’t love – it was technicality, it was convenient and it meant a wealthy business and high status in the right circles. It was keeping the pureblood line clean. It never grew to love, but it was something safe. Children was always expected – someone with the family name to lead the business on. The first born was Anna. Inheriting the business could only go to a boy so another child was brought to the family. This time their wish was fulfilled and Dale was born. Poor, poor child. He had no idea what life was waiting for him. He was brought up by the family nanny, always separated from his older sister, who was brought up by another nanny. When his sister turned ten she moved to France with her nanny, preparing to go to Beaux batons, almost shunned from the family because of her gender. Their mother later joined her – it was the perfect story and the perfect getaway for his mother.
Dale grew up with a heavy burden on his shoulders. His father started grooming him to take over the business when Dale was only seven. He was homeschooled and never had time to get any friends outside the house. This quickly shaped him to become the boy he is today. He was never allowed inside his father’s office, so Dale quickly taught himself how to be cunning, wise and how to use his fortune and name to his benefit. He never got an explanation for why his sister left and why his mother had gone with her. His father kept blaming Dale when he only had himself to blame. Dale hardly saw his father, but on the rare occasions of them having dinner together, all his father could talk about was the business or scold Dale for not being the son he wanted. Just imagine what kind of child you get from that. Dale had to forge a metal wall to shield him from the hurt – not the physical kind, but a kind of violence that attacked his mind. Unfortunately his father had had plenty of time before Dale found out how to defend himself. He would say none of it ever affected him, but that’s not true to the least! He was damaged in every sense before even reaching a two digit age.
Dale had a secure spot waiting for him at Hogwarts. Just like his father, his grandfather and his great grandfather before him he became a Slytherin student. Even though Dale knew that his name came with automatic respect and a reputation he still felt like making sure that everybody knew his name, for better or worse. He felt better acting like his father - treating others like his father had treated him. His father couldn’t keep an eye on him at school, but Dale already knew what did the best for the family name and what didn’t. He had to spend every Christmas at home, attending the mandatory parties and act as the perfect son in front of a crowd. He never enjoyed the gathering. This was the one time a year he got to see his one year older sister and his mother, but they had never shared the bond of brother and sister – they were strangers to each other. His sister hated him just as much as their mother hated their father, and Dale had been poisoned enough to hate his sister. It was only formality – they were only related by name, nothing more. As they got older Anna found her way out of the family and Dale found his own way to avoid being too present at the parties.
Then his life took another turn, and not for the better. Dale accepted who he was and who he had to become. He valued the family name and the business he was to inherit. He would try to do good just for a little bit of praise from his father, who never really gave him any, but that didn’t kill his hopes. Dale would do what his father thought right – not what he thought himself. He would socialize for the sake of his father, trying to earn him new connections that he could benefit from. He would do business of his own, hoping that his father would approve and finally see him truly fit to inherit the business when he was old enough, but somehow it was never right. His father would shake his head, pull him down from his pedestal, humiliate him in front of everybody or downright cut him off. Dale would try to buy his way in, like he had seen his father do over and over again, but nothing was ever good enough. At some point he stopped trying. Dale had already dug his own grave so why not dig a little deeper? He fell in, head first. Drinking, partying and humiliating himself in front of his father’s friends, just to get back at the man. Dale couldn’t care less – he had simply stopped caring about anything. Who would his father pass the business on to? He had no one else – only Dale. At some point Dale thought of ruining his father and his business, but it was only another phase in his life. Something you should have learned by now. You never know where this by is at; he’s your friend, he’s your enemy, he hates his father, he would do anything for his father. That’s why most people have chosen to hate him, because it’s simply too complicated to find out what else to think of him.
Dale might not have found the best way to keep himself feeling happy, or more like slightly happy, but he did find a way to suppress what he didn’t want to think about. Girls, girls, girls! At school it’s not such an easy thing to come around, but when he’s home he’s got a free ticket to the ladies’ train. His rather unhealthy lifestyle makes him feel good. Others might think even worse of him, but he hardly cares.
AND HE DIDN’T LIVE THAT HAPPILY EVER AFTER
