Yeah, okay, I have never done a single thing to him, and he hates my guts. I have no clue why, either. Unfortunately, they actually have a history. Shortly after moving to England to live with her father, not only was Indi pushed into the selfish pureblood world, but she was also introduced to all its characters. So it was inevitable that she would have to encounter Rabastan Lestrange. Obviously, that wasn't torture enough. Because then she had to attend two different parties with him, a not-so-subtle forced date. For both of them. Neither one likes the other, but Indigo has to be at least decent to him at school. In short? It really sucks.

Now, I know what you are thinking. Rabastan, I? The two would not normally go together, I do realize. But all this talk about the two dreadful Lestrange brothers and I was bound to be a little curious. If you ask me, I don’t think Senior Mr. Lestrange is all that intimidating. He tries to hard to put off being some horrible Slytherin, but I’ve seen the way he is about that girl. You’re trying to tell me he acts like a pompous jerk around her? I think not. Somewhere in him he knows he’s more then that. I, for one, am not fearful of the other side – you know the one I’m talking about, that “I need to stomp all over the world, oh look at me I’m so powerful and cool” side. Rabastan merely likes to think he’s incredibly strong and knows what he is doing at all times of the day. Seeing how I could really care less about his overdose of confidence we’ve turned out to be pretty good friends. I abide by his rules though, all this “no public relations” business. He’s a good fellow to know, I will give him that much, but I’m not so desperate for his attention to speak openly to him during classes. I could, if I really wanted to, but we’ll just let him keep believing I’m a good follower, hmm?

Goodness he’s a bit full of himself, isn’t he? Rabastan walks around like he’s some sort of marvel. I will never forget the first day I saw him, laughing it up with his buddies. At first I had no idea what they were doing, then I realized the jerk had his wand out and was tormenting some little first year across the lawn with hexes. The poor kid had no idea what was going on. Needless to say I one-uped him and cursed his wand right out of his hand. Came soring right to me like some trained little puppy – the look on his face was priceless. Said he’d get me back “you little wench” but he has yet to. I must say, I look forward to the day he grows enough backbone to think he can take me on.

I was, sadly, always attracted to Rabastan and one day, after maliciously beating by beau, Edgar, he decided to put on the charm and being the innocent girl I was, I decided to become his girlfriend, dumping Eddy for this dude. We dated and it honestly wasn't that horrible, but I'd never make the mistake again and I'd advise against it for everyone with a soul because if you aren't a Slytherin, you'll get a good beating: as I did. I was blinded by his peers simply because I wasn't a snake in the grass. Eh. It's made me stronger. We broke up and I've moved on, but he seems to think I hate him. Why? I dunno. He never beat me or anything. I guess it's some sort of image he wants to keep up. Pst, I think I'll ruin it out of spite. HERE ME WORLD: I DO NOT HATE RABASTAN LESTRANGE. But I don't really like him either. So I guess I'm indifferent. Just as all exes really ought to be, no matter what.

How to explain Rabastan? The things is, you shouldn't. Perhaps you can. Knowing him for as long as I have, it would be utterly ridiculous for me not to know how he functions, what he thinks. It wasn't through observation that I came upon this knowledge. Actually, when you grow up with someone, interaction is a given. So Rabastan and I have spent our lives together. Quite literally. Pureblooded families form a tightly knit circle of protection around their offspring, and they take particular care as to whom they roam the world with. The Blacks and the Lestranges? Utter brilliance, if the expression on our parents' faces was any indication. Although extremely different from my observing nature, Rabastan is one of my closest friends. I'd go as far as calling him my best friend. Before imposing so-called 'sentiments' on this phrase, I have to say he is my best friend out of tradition, out of habit, out of anything else except understanding. Because even though I know how he works and acts, and know the reasons behind those actions, he is the one who doesn't understand me. I won't say our relationship is based off emptiness and whatnot. In a way, we have proved our loyalties to each other over time. Us Slytherins have to stick together. That's just the way it is, will always be. Rabastan is in the chosen few I wish to keep closer.

Okay, so maybe it's more than a 'thing'. I honestly don't know what I'd do without him. He drives me insane sometimes, but I'm pretty sure he's finally figured out what he wants. I've never known someone that knows me better than myself, but Rab seems to know everything I'm thinking before it comes out of my mouth. I've always loved him, more than I realized, I just never admitted it to myself until all this started happening. He'll never agree with me on this, but he's the best thing that's ever happened to me, even if it sucked getting to the place we're at now. He'll always be my Rab, and I'll always believe he's more than he thinks he is. I've found someone that believes in me, and I think it's only fair that I return the favor, even if he doesn't like it. It's actually kind of funny when I think about all the times he tried to convince me that he didn't want to be anything other than friends, compared to the way he acts now. We've come a long way, but it was worth it. I don't doubt for a second anymore that he's going to be there when I need him, mostly because he never seems to leave my side anymore (not that I'm complaining). Seriously though, I can't think of anyone else I'd rather be with, he's everything now. He's more a part of me than I am sometimes, and I love him more than anything. People think he's such an asshole, they don't know him. His brother's an asshole. If people just took a minute to see him the way I do...they'd see what I see. I love you baby.

Everyone ready for the cliché? I'm a sucker for Slytherins with bad reps. That being said, you must now know that I possibly couldn't stay away from this nasty bloke. Just impossible, really. Same year, we were bound to share some classes. It's as if Dumbledore enjoys the spats that surge from the Gryffindor/Slytherin shared classes. He's everything you wouldn't want near you, and therefore, I kept close watch. At first, they were only not-so-subtle glances, but he was bound to get tired of that eventually. And so did I. It wasn't long before I approached him. I'm not daft, of course I didn't do it while he was accompanied. In that sense, I got lucky, because I managed to get him all alone (Yes, save your smirks for later). I was point blank direct with him. Where was the point in me using all my fake strategies? I gauged him to be the kind of boy who just takes what is offered and does not play around. Much less with a Gryffindor. So I told him everything I thought about him, and Merlin, I don't regret it. Not one bit. Of course, this has to be kept under the table, but still, we both know we remember that.

I never thought I'd end up being such good friends with that asshole who pushed me off the top of the jungle gym when I was six. I guess everyone just saw him as another problem child just like his brother, but there are things about Rodolphus that never really stuck in Rab. People don't think he's capable of being a good friend, but it's because they don't know shit about him. Just because people are stupid and get on his bad side doesn't mean that he doesn't have a good side to be on. We've been best friends for as long as I can remember, even if he's taken a bit of a social climb. I kind of just came along for the ride, but I guess that comes with it's own benefits. I don't have anywhere near the popularity he does, but at least I'm not ostracised or anything. Either way, he's stuck up for me when he didn't have to, and it's more than a lot of people would do in his situation. It sounds wierd saying it like this, but we've just always kind of been there for each other, even when it sucks. It's the only way you keep your friends around here, and he's definitely one I want to keep.

Ever since we were kids, we've had our issues. What was to be expected? We're brothers, and that in itself is enough for us to be best friends and hate each other at the same time. Terrorizing little young years and carrying out The Dark Lord's needs at the school take up a lot of our time, but we use the spare time we have efficiently enough to have a little 'fun'. Most of that ends up getting us into detention, but if we're there together we have fun there anyways. Nothing like carrying out a job and creating a problem for someone else at the same time. There are definitely a few things that bothered me about Rab (because eventually, everyone pisses me off), but I didn't touch on them often, only when I'm seriously irritated. I hated how weak Rab can be sometimes, especially when it comes to girls. That boy really has no control over himself. I'm the same way of course, but I can restrain myself when necessary. Rab seems to have a bit of an issue with that, especially with that Khai girl. But in the end, he's probably one of the only people in this place I trust, and we stick together. Ha, I'd like to see anyone try and stand up to us. Together? We're unstoppable.

There was no chance that they wouldn't meet one another. All the pureblooded families know everything about the other, even if they aren't friends. Bellatrix and Rabastran practically grew up in the same house, if not slightly different. They and their other special band of slytherins have been friends since childhood. They played together, grew up together, have all of the same ideals. It's perfect, at least to them. Trix has always had a thing for and with Rabastan's twin brother Rodolphus, so there's no confusion between romance going on there. Of course, because it's Trix, they have their fights and shortcomings, but there's nothing slytherins can't fix right? Heh.
