INTRODUCTION
Group #1: Gryffindor Sixth and Seventh Years Group #2: Hufflepuff Sixth and Seventh Years Discussion: Aguamenti Charm
As customary, Professor Flitwick climbed over the books he had strategically piled behind his desk until he got to the very top one. It was the only way he could peer at his students from over the desk, after all. Being tiny definitely was not something he enjoyed, although it was something he lived with, and that the students grew accustomed to. The first years giggled about it, but by the time they were in Sixth and Seventh year, like these students, they barely even noticed anymore. Or so he thought. Pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose, Professor Flitwick pulled the notes he had prepared for the lesson closer to him, squinting at his handwriting. Ah, yes! Today he would be teaching them the Aguamenti charm. Oh dear, he did hope they remembered the Drying Charm he'd taught them last week, otherwise they'd make a complete mess of themselves and he certainly didn't want anyone going to Madam Pomfrey with a cold because they had been drenched in one of his classes. That was hardly responsible of him as a Professor. "All right, class," he squeaked. "It's time to actually put the Aguamenti Charm to use. Please refrain from spraying your friends - or myself -, no matter how tempting it might be," he joked lightly with a smile as he picked up his own goblet, motioning for them to do the same. "Now, simply point your want at your goblet and say the spell. You ought to want to fill the goblet with water, and you will. Now, repeat after me: Auguamenti." He pointed his wand at the goblet and watched the steady stream of water fall from the end of it, filling up his goblet. Pulling his wand away, he looked up to see how well his students were faring.

Pierre liked Charms. As a matter of fact, it would be very safe to say he loved them. They were exactly what differentiated Wizards from Muggles. At least on his book. Sure, mainly the general concept of differentiation was magic but charms were what you saw on the movies, what made people special, because they could cast all these awesome things that normal people couldn't. And they weren't normal. They were wizards. Yeah, they were; and they could cast spells, and...you know, Charms. So yes, in general, Pierre loved Charms because of what they stood for. Being able to cast Charms meant that he was special, belonged to something other than boring, boring normalcy. So, yeah, every time he flicked and swished his wand and something (no matter what) happened, Pierre felt immensely proud of himself. He was so into these classes...normally. Any other day, Pierre thought Charms were the coolest thing to have been brought into this world besides ice cubes. This Aguamenti charm, though? Not cool. It was...ah, how to spell it without sounding incompetent? Well, whatever, he wasn't saying it out loud, was he? Nope, he wasn't. So, yes, he could admit to himself that it was too damn difficult. He knew classes were supposed to get more and more difficult as time progressed, but really, Professors? Did they have to prove to be such a pain in the--
"Hey, want to partner up?"
Ah. Fabulous. Ethan wanted to practice. Oooh, Pierre could feel the smirk creeping up on his lips. You know, there was a reason why he stuck around this kid. Where Pierre failed, Ethan excelled at. Sure, he resented him a bit because he'd always had the magic around him and you know, whether consciously or not, that always gave you an upper hand? Or maybe he simply wanted a reason to resent him because all he was in the very end was jealous. Jealous because he was so much better at the practical stuff. He was so coordinated, so good at duelling, so good at Quidditch. For Merlin's sake, he was even good in relationships! Like, what the fuck was up with that?Him and Indigo? Might as well get nominated for Queen and King at the next Valentine's Ball. They were that fucking disgusting. Well, not so much lately, if he thought about it, but you know...UGH. He needed to reply. Besides, Ethan was a nice bloke, everything he was good at aside. "Sure," he said easily. "Might as well tell me how it's done, because Merlin knows I don't know." Sighing, he hopped down from his seat and went to take one of the cups that Professor Flitwick was handing out. He had a feeling that his cup wouldn't be overflowing by the end of the class. You know, he was just being Pierre: his usual optimistic self. "I can tell you're so thrilled by this," Ethan joked as he observed Pierre drag his feet on the way back and take a seat again. "Dying," he said dryly. "So! Let's start the slaughter, shall we?"
"We shall."
anyone who's open to having his or her charrie have an accident with these two, please have him or her come over to this pair and ask for help too? thanks! :D

May was freaking tired. She hadn't slept at all last night because she'd been at detention for having set fire 'accidentally' to some girl's clothes in Transfiguration, and McGonagall had freaked and made her scrub toilets for two hours, and then she'd gotten back to the common room and remembered that she had an essay due for Potions that she'd waited to do until the last minute, and had stayed up until one in the morning trying to finish it. It was probably crappy anyway, but who cared. And then she'd been lying in bed thinking about TJ and stuff, and she wasn't very comfortable and now, now she had bags under her eyes and her skin was pale and her hair lazily brushed into a loose ponytail because she'd fallen asleep last period and was now running to Charms, her textbooks flying out from between her arms.
She reached the classroom, out of breath, as Flitwick began to inform them that they would be learning the Aguamenti Charm. Oh, that was easy. She'd done it before, yeah...definitely, to put out that fire yesterday. Easy peasy. Smiling smugly to herself, even though her eyelids were dropping from lack of sleep, she looked around trying to find somebody to sit next to, and spotted Ethan and Pierre already there, teaming up. Resisting the urge to giggle, May sauntered over and dropped -literally- her stuff on the tabletop, crushed pieces of parchment scattering everywhere and some ink flying out of nowhere onto her finger. "Crap." She looked up at the guys and grinned, taking out her wand and a cup from Flitwick as he passed them around. "Slaughtering?" she greeted them, flicking her hair back from her face. "I'm in." "You've got to want to fill the goblet with water," Pierre mimicked in a high voice as he made a face at the still empty goblet. As expected: first try, an epic fail. But see, girls had this impeccable timing and for that, Ethan was extremely grateful. Rolling his eyes at the rather immature kid he stuck around for some reason, he turned to May and raised his eyebrows. "If you're better than him, by all means, you're welcome," he said teasingly as he turned to Pierre again, who was now scowling at him. Oh, he wasn't that bad, he simply was blocking himself. It wasn't the first time Ethan had seen something like that, but man, Pierre was doing such a hardcore job at it that it was painful to watch. No matter how many times Ethan tried to persuade him of the contrary, Pierre, somehow, still didn't feel he was good enough for this. The "this" of the day could vary, depending on his mood. Sometimes it was about his photographs, others about his appearance, other days about his inability to establish good relationships, but all in all? He was a good guy. A whiner, but a good guy nonetheless. He was just too damn insecure to notice it most of the time. He was the type of guy who needed constant reassurance and Ethan's patience with him was starting to run short. "You're the poster child for neatness, aren't you, May love?" Pierre asked as he tried to shift the focus from him to her. Well, if she was 'in', she could have nagging Ethan aaaall to herself. Maybe he'd feel up for Agua soon enough. "Oh, yes, you so have the right to talk about that, Pierre boy," Ethan snorted as he picked up his wand, took the cup and closed his eyes. "Aguamenti," he muttered as he imagined a flowing river. He didn't want to open his eyes, because if he failed, Merlin help him, he was not going to live it down. He'd practiced this Charm before numerous times, but sometimes the Fates had this rotten sense of humor... He smiled triumphantly as he felt water overflowing from the cup and into his fingers. Opening his eyes, he laughed and stopped the Charm, setting it down in the desk, followed closely by Pierre's resentful eyes. "You suck," he declared, pouting. "Want to give it a try, May?" Ethan asked as he emptied the cup and held it out to her. It was obvious Pouty Boy over there was in no mood to give it his second go, so might as well try and convince someone who was a bit more competent...not to mention mature.

Wincing as she watched Pierre fail, oh it wasn't that hard, and he was good with magic. He was just being moodyPierre today, apparently. May resisted the urge to roll her eyes at him and poke him in the ribs with her wand. She scooted closer to Ethan and laughed. "Are you doubting my skills?" she asked, raising an eyebrow testily at him, then blew air out of her mouth. "Hardly, Pierre sweetie. I've got you to compete with for that," she replied, batting her eyelashes falsely in his direction, then allowing herself an amused smirk as she watched Ethan fill his cup perfectly. Of course, his spell worked wonders. They always did, with Ethan. Or...most of the time. And this was just improving Pierre's mood by the second. May nudged him in the ribs with her elbow and stuck out her tongue at him. "You're just bitter because Mr.Poseidon here just outdid you with his eyes closed. He's quite passionate about the spell, you see. I'm convinced that if he put his mind to it, Hogwarts would be flooded within the minute. And yes, your watery highness, I'd like to give it a try, " she announced, pointing her wand at the goblet, pursing her lips and picturing the water flowing from her wand into the goblet. " Aguamenti." But at that same split second, some Hufflepuff behind her tried to pass through the space between the tables and knocked into her, causing her to stumble on her stool, and filng her wand upwards just as a stream of water shooted straight out of it and onto Ethan's unsuspecting face. May yelped and put her wand down, stopping the spell, then looked up at the boy next to her, soaked, and started laughing. " Sorry, Poseidon. I guess it's just not my element."[/blockquote]

Oh, great, just throw Maylene to add to the epic embarrassment he was experiencing. Why not? She always seemed to pop up in the most inappropriate of times, anyway. Glaring at her subtly when she mentioned his failure at being neat, he scoffed when she took the wand. "Do shut up, May, and just try to prove me wrong this one time, alright? Because so far, you're full of hot air," he said with a roll of his eyes. Oh, he liked May well enough, he supposed, considering he'd been hanging around with her for quite a while now, but man, sometimes she could get on his nerves like nobody's business. Then again, that was what friends were paid for. Speaking of getting on his nerves, though, Cartier was doing a damn good job at it too. What was it today? Let's be idiots and annoy Pierre-day, or something? Because it sure as hell seemed to be working. "Mr. Poseidon," Pierre repeated slowly, looking at May as a smirk started drawing itself on his lips. Turning to Ethan, it bloomed and he crossed his arms across his chest. "Mr. Poseidon," he said again smugly as he nodded his head with a 'this is not the end of it' look on his face. He could inject so much more into it too, but May was all about beating him to the punch today, because damn she'd just soaked him straight in his face. Laughter was the natural response to all of this, of course. It was hard to stop it, as a matter of fact, with his breath running out and his face exploding into different shades of red due to the exertion. His right arm found its way around May's shoulders and he pulled her close, kissing the top of her head in gratitude. "I think--you just--made my day," he gasped as Ethan mopped away at his face with the edge of his school shirt, cool attitude absolutely gone. "Here, here, I'm willing to give it a try again," Pierre said cheerfully as he picked up his own wand, took the cup from May and focused. It shouldn't be so hard if both of them had been able to do it, right? So maybe May hadn't really filled the cup, but Ethan surely had gotten a mouthful. The giggles started again. Wait, no, guffaws. Yes, those were manlier. Oh, who cared? Pierre was laughing too hard to care. The expression on his face! It had been too much to bear. "Mr. Po--seidon," he stuttered through his laughter. The glare he received though, was enough to make him consider sobering up. You know, Ethan was a nice guy and all, but sometimes he got a scary ass expression on his face that was more than enough warning against pissing him off. "Fine then, give it a go, Scham." Ooh, lanky girl was pissed. Taking in a deep breath to calm down what was left of his chuckles, he closed his eyes. "A--aguamenti," his voice shook and he couldn't control it anymore. Not able to keep it in, he burst out laughing yet again (for Merlin's sake, it hadn't been that funny) and his wand ended up flying, a jet of water spraying from its tip. As soon as Pierre saw it, he ducked for cover underneath his desk, with a random book he managed to grab and thus, missed the aftermath of his successful charm. The only signs of said consequences though, where the sounds of sputtering and gasping. "Merde, Pierre!"
Ooooh, score.

Oh, once Pierre started laughing, she just had to join in. Honestly, Ethan's face of utter shock was too funny. She held a hand to her mouth as she shook with laughter, her wand still in her hand, and the desk soaked with water falling off the edges, and off Ethan's hair. Then Pierre pulled her over and kissed the top of her head, still laughing, and May's face lit up. Oh, score! She'd made his day. Her life's ambition. Hm, that sounded a tad more sarcastic than she meant it. Well, it wasn't her mission to make Pierre's day, precisely, but yeah, she loved to make people laugh. See? She giggled again at Ethan's obviously pissed-off retort, and couldn't see why people didn't love to laugh all the time? She was just giddy with it. And thankfully, dry as well. "Careful, now, Pierre. You've never had the best reputation with wands-" but her jab was lost as her target burst out into chuckles as he tried to work the spell, and she caught a glimpse of his wand flicking upwards and him ducking before a jet - of surprising strength considering Pierre's previous failure with the charm- shot out of it and in the last split second she closed her laughing mouth and eyes; before she knew it, she was soaking wet, her hair sticking to her face, and the gentle breeze blowing in the classroom feeling icy cold against her wet skin. Startled by the attack, she glanced at Ethan, who'd gotten wet for a second time now, and was looking murderous.
She couldn't help it. She burst out laughing again, not caring in the least about her appearance. "Oh, you're screwed, Scham! she called out, leaning over the desk between them and reaching out to grab some book the coward had over his face to protect himself and wrenched it out of his grip, then pointed her wand at him and repeated the spell, her mirth reflected on her face as for the third time, a stream of water missed the goblets quite by a bit, and smacked Pierre full on the face. May chuckled at the scene and held out her hand upwards towards Ethan for a high five.[/blockquote]

Helping May and Pierre out did not seem like such a good idea anymore. As a matter of fact, it seemed like the worst idea he'd gotten in the entirety of ever. Oh sweet Circe, even the guy's expressions were rubbing off on him, but who cared about that when he was soaked? Sure, an accident could happen to anybody, but did they really have to laugh? He could feel a vein starting to pulse in his forehead. Upside to this? At least it was obvious that they had mastered the Charm, no matter how drenched he was now. He smiled smugly. At least he wasn't alone in this now. Snorting at the sight of Pierre underneath the desk, he turned to the sopping May, sure that they were both thinking the same thing now. "Yes, Pierre, hide," he said just as May ducked and ripped the book away from him, hitting him square in the face. Professor Binn's warning absolutely forgotten as they approached the brink of a water war. "God, May, do you have to be such a bitch?" Pierre spluttered out as a jet of water got well-acquainted with his face. The high five he gave May was immediate. "Yes, that's right, Scham, whiiiine away. That'll get you dry," he called out as he twirled his wand between his fingers. Nope, he was past caring about such simple things like detention when they were all ganging up against the coward who was underneath the des--Ethan's smile changed into devious as the hand he'd given the high five with locked fingers with May's and pulled her close abruptly, with him shouting the Charm at the top of his lungs, aiming straight for her face. "Payback!"

"Oh, ouch," May replied, wincing in mock hurt at Pierre's insult. He didn't mean it. It was cool. There was a thin line between lying and teasing, but she could read it well for most people, when she knew them. And knowing Pierre, he was just being his usual grumpy self.Awesome. Ethan returned her high five and May grinned, about to sit down and declare this war a victory for her, when she felt Ethan grab her hand, locking fingers with her. Huh? She turned to look questioningly at him, wondering why he was holding her hand thatwasweird when he pulled her towards him. The thoughts running through May's mind at that split second were nowhere near his true intentions. Flashes of Pierre aiming a curse at her and Ethan helping her block it, or him about to suddenly for no reason out of the blue kiss her went up in her mind, and she blinked a few times, too weirded out to act accordingly either way, when a loud yell of 'Aguamenti!' interrupted her brain's shortcircuit. What? And she felt the hard slap of water hitting her striaght on the face. Sputtering and gasping, and completely not having foreseen that- they'd been on the same side!, May spit out water and gaped at Ethan, as the latter laughed 'Payback!'
May widened her eyes and a smug smirk made its way across her face, removing her hand from Ethan's and pushing her stool back, so she was further away from them, facing them. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Flitwick start squealing something and walking this way, but she was too into what she was doing to care. Besides, she'd been in plenty of detentions in her life, and she didn't care. Before the two guys could hide or something, she raised her wand at them from her new position, and shouted, "Aguamenti Maximum! " as a jet of water triple the volume and force of the previous ones flew from the tip of her wand onto their entire bodies. " How's that for payback, bitches. she said in a lower voice so the Professor wouldn't hear and have another reason to get her into more trouble.[/blockquote]

"Aguamenti Maximum!"
Aw shit, that was not fair, he'd only managed to crawl out from underneath his desk! Damn it all, some days, May needed to be locked up. That was all he could think about before he got hit with the full force of her charm and he tumbled back, hitting his head and different parts of himself on various objects that appeared out of nowhere. It was comforting to know, though, that Ethan wasn't fairing any better because he was right next to him and they ended up next to each other, back on the floor. You know, with the numerous times Pierre fell down, he was well-acquainted with the floor by now, but Ethan? Yeah, you could tell that guy was not going to let it be. Might as well, because Pierre had lost his wand moments earlier, with his misfired spell, and damn it, he hated being so vulnerable. "Ethan," he hissed as water kept raining on them. "Accio my wand. Now!" Fortunately, the guy had always been quick on his feet, and Pierre was grasping his wand in his hand in no time, a triumphant smile on his face as he and Ethan looked at each other, nodded in unison and with loud yells ran at Maylene, tackling her while Ethan threw a Cushioning Charm and when they both had their wands pointed at her, yelled "SURRENDER NOW, OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES, BELL," at the top of their lungs. All type of sound ceased in the classroom, and it was until then that both guys were snapped into the reality of the situation. They were in Flitwick's classroom--drenched, with a girl underneath them.
Oooh, that sounded wrong.
Pierre giggled a little at the thought, but sobered immediately when he started to look for the Professor and couldn't find him anywhere. It wasn't until Ethan's elbow dug into his ribs that he turned to his left and saw him just...standing there. Aw, damn. He was going to have to cancel a shitload of shoots, wasn't he? Needless to say, they were both on their feet in no time at all, looking everywhere but at the teacher and helping May up too.
"You're still doomed, May," Ethan murmured out of the corner of his mouth.

This. Was. Triumph.
The moment her spell hit Pierre and Ethan, the force of it caused them to fall out of their chairs and onto the floor. The amount of water between them and her was making it hard for her to see exactly where they landed, but the thuds and screeches as chairs scraped against the stone floor, and the yells of other students were indication enough that they had caused quite a scene as they fell. And May was beyond herself with amusement. Tears were actually streaming out of her eyes and down her already soaking face as she went, and had to lean on the table for support. She'd lost them behind the table, but she assumed they were still on the floor, recovering from the hit. A couple of people around them had noticed and were now staring or also laughing. She felt somebody clap her on the back from behind and tell her 'nice job, man,' but she knew that already. Oh, this was priceless.
She waited patiently for them to resurface, and when she saw their faces pop back up from behind the table, she grinned at them and did a little wave. "Sorry," she pouted fakely. But something in Ethan's eyes made her hesitate, wary now. And then out of their mouths came loud battle cries and they lunged forward towards her, and May only had time to scream before she felt the weight of two seventeen year old guys tackle her to the floor behind her. The ground rose up to meet her, and she hit her arm on a table behind her, grunting as she fell, but somebody must have used a Cushioning Charm because the stone, at least, felt soft as snow under her. Her eyes wide, she watched Ethan and Pierre point their wands at her and she gasped. Her gasp echoed in the class, and she realized it had gone completely silent. Looking around her, at the students' faces of total amusement and some shock, she pressed her lips together to hold back a smile. Oh, they'd really done it this time. But then they were helping her up and she spotted Flitwick standing there. Oooh, crap. May leaned in a little towards her left, to Ethan, and whispered back, "Bring it, Poseidon. " They were so getting a detention.[/blockquote]

Professor Flitwick had expected pandemonium. There was always those two or three students that liked to take a joke too far. And so he kept a wary eye on them, roving among those, watching small streams of water missing the goblets or spilling out. There were a few who managed to complete the spell perfectly - he eyed Mr. Cartier appreciatively - and some, not so much, he thought with a glance at Mr. Scham. Everything was going quite well until suddenly Cartier was drenched and the next thing he knew, Cartier, Scham and Miss Bell were engaged in a water fight. Frowning, Professor Flitwick folded his arms, unimpressed, before scrambling down the books he'd used for elevation and striding towards the desks. "Cartier, Scham and Bell!" he called out, his normally squeaky voice distinctly less squeaky as he took on a sharper. His eyes narrowed on the trouble-makers, his normally pleasant expression turning stormy. "Your actions are completely unacceptable! This is a classroom, not the courtyard! Please save your antics for a more appropriate time! 10 points from Gryffindor, each. And detention on Friday evening. I expect to see you in my office, eight a.m. sharp." He tilted his chin up, surprisingly commanding despite his tiny height. He would not tolerate such misbehavior, after all.

"Ten points each?! That's insanity!" But he shut up, because it was Pierre's turn to nudge his ribs and tell him to shut up in a very discreet way. Coughing, he looked up and away, fleeing before the Professor could say anything else by busying himself with cleaning up the absolute mess they'd made. Might as well, considering how obvious it was Pierre was not going to help out. "I'm going to have to cancel my session with Tori," Pierre whined and Ethan shot him a dirty glare. "Boo hoo," he muttered snarkily as he dried himself. "Come on, Bell, don't think you're exempt from this, get your butt moving and start cleaning up," Ethan ordered as he started mopping stuff up with his wand.

Ten. Points. Each. Holy crap. Okay...May looked down, then up at Flitwick and nodded, pressing her lips together. "We're sorry," she apologized softly, then turned around, and followed Ethan over to clean up the mess, and she smiled to herself. Whatever. A few points more or less, who cared. They had other people to gain points for them. She looked up at Ethan with a raised eyebrow. "Okay, first of all, Cartier. I caused that lake, " she pointed at the swamp of water in front of them that Pierre was siphoning up with his wand. " And secondly, you don't get to tell me what to do." She pushed past him and started cleaning up the water as well with her wand, while the rest of the class resumed their activities, although some were still chuckling at them. " So don't."[/blockquote]

Now they were all saying the wrong things at the wrong time. Sure, ten points each seemed like a blown up exaggeration, but you know, it was no reason to get all snarky-like, and oooh, okay, yeah, it was time to cut it up. "Shut up, both of you and give me a hand here, okay?" Once May had started helping out, he walked over to her and whispered. "We so owned you, though, you gotta admit it." Maybe it was because he didn't want to end the random explosion of happiness they'd shared in a sour note, or maybe it was because he didn't want an argument to start up to sour his buzz, but for whatever the reason, he wanted to work it out with both of them. May had gotten hissy for no reason, but Pierre had long since accepted that fact that girls were like that. Ethan had been born with that knowledge, so why was he acting that way, who knew, but, you know, whatever. They had to deal with this, because they would be sharing detention, and you know, spending that time arguing was not cool. It gave you a migraine. Pierre would know.
