Welcome to 'I Solemnly Swear'
We are a literate Harry Potter RPG forum focusing on the Marauders' Era, 1977.
*Please note: when ISS was first created, the year was 1976. Since then, RPG-wise we have progressed into 1977.
This is the name given to the time in the early to late seventies when Harry's father, James, and his friends were at Hogwarts.
On this site you can create a character, or use a canon (one created by JK Rowling) and roleplay them as they go about their business in school. To make this character come alive, you can also create journals, photo albums and logs of relationships and histories with other characters.

Timeline
If you do decide to join, we ask that you have at least read the series through once. However, you are advised to read a little deeper if you want to keep up with our fanaticisms.
This site was created before Deathly Hallows was published, therefore we have had to 'catch up' with some anachronisms which have been revealed. Therefore, you may find many 'errors' in the canon information we provide. Many of the characters have been lumped in to the same year, when they may not have even attended school together. Lucius is in the same year as Severus, when the books tell us that he was a prefect when Snape was sorted. Also, a lot of teachers do not exist on this site that would have been teaching when James Potter was at school. Our excuse? Well, this is a fanfic - our ultimate aim is not to be 100% accurate. Plus, it's interesting to mix different canons together at school and see the result. So, that's just to set things straight before the PMs start trickling in.
When this particular roleplay began, it was the year 1976, round about the time the 'Marauders' were in their seventh and final year at Hogwarts. Since then, the Marauders have graduated and the 1977-1978 school year has begun. When roleplaying, remember that many things mentioned in the book would not exist at this time: firebolts, The Weird Sisters, Gilderoy Lockhart - so take care.
Staff
The staff system is an operation of six: our three admins, Kabby, Didi, and Fief, and three moderators, Najooj, Ellie, Ry. All began as regular members, then moderators, and finally administrators. Professor Albus Dumbledore is the staff account, and both can log into it to create staff posts and do general admin work.
However, ISS was founded and created by another pair: Jennie and Trisha. Time limitations and other such preventions keep them from actively participating around the site, but both are loved for their creation each ISS member can call home. Without them, the site would not be what it is today. Likewise, both Enigma and Skarletta served loyally on ISS for a time. Each of them had memorable personalities that worked together in such a way that is indescribable. After her own term, Izzy resigned with nearly three years under her belt; she brought unique ideas to the site that today are recognized as a standard feature of the site and continues to encourage the site's growth through her once-fellow staffers. Abbie also served for a time as a staffer, bringing along with her to the staffer table new and creative concepts to liven up the daily life of the site. All past staff members are equally loved and their level of dedication appreciated.
Any and all questions are welcomed; the administration team does not bite (despite what anyone else might tell you, lol). With varying teams of staffers, ISS is running strong on three years and aiming for another birthday mark of age four. We hope you’ll take the time to look around if you haven’t already joined; our ISS family is always looking for more members. (:
