Once again, here I go with a new volume in the many chapters of my life. It’s just oh so terribly exciting. End of one journal brings about a set of new, fresh pages. A new beginning, if you will. A chance to reinvent the un-invented, that’s how unique I’d like to be. Summer should be a nice chance to do that. I’ve already got a jumpstart on improving my life. Guess, guess, guess! I bought the most adorable little kitten this afternoon. I’d asked Mum about finding myself a new pet almost the second I’d made it home from the station, so I knew she’d be alright with it. Besides, what could she do to a baby cat? You’ve got no soul if you can look a kitten in the eyes and tell them they’re unwanted. Oh but anyway, so the kitten itself. I’ve named her Jinx. I just couldn’t resist. An old man had these kittens in a box, for sale of course, and this peculiar one actually reminded me of myself. She was the most rambunctious of the five or six there. Our markings are even similar. So, she’s like the true feline version of myself – a double. My baby Jinx. One can hardly deny she’s my mini me. The best thing is being able to play with her on her own level. I was so, so excited. I’ve tried hanging around the strays before, but naturally they only know me as a cat. Jinx knows there’s something different. A human cat; a cat human, who knows what she thinks. She puffed herself right up when I transformed, oh it was so cute! A meow here, a purr there, I think she’s figured out there’s nothing to be frightened of. It’ll take time, duh, but I’ve got all summer. Other bullet points off the agenda…oh! My favorite DeLion’s birthday is in eleven days. Her invitations turned out splendid. That little charm worked out after all. I still can’t believe she bothered sending me one at all, I mean I helped to format the silly things. No matter. Just to open the envelope and see how it all worked out was nice. I’m still torn about what I should get dearest Alessa. It’s that classical conflict of trying to figure out whether a more serious or humorous gift would be more appropriate. I might just have to get that love potions textbook I saw the other day (I don’t know if that’s the serious or funny gift option). And then I did see those most wonderful hair pieces, a whole set there was. She’s always changing her look so frequently it might be nice to add something newer to the new.
Because I’m all about new this summer.
I think it’s time to go see what my new neighbor is up to (Caucasian, male, looks 18).

This is Benjamin something-or-other.
Guess his daddy’s job required a move. I didn’t ask for all the d’s. Mmm, the only thing you need to know about this boy is how fun he is. Like the proper lady I am – ahem – I went over and introduced myself. That’s the nice thing about having lived here for so long now, everyone just knows everyone else. I didn’t think the new family should be left out. (Okay, and I wanted to know who the kid was). And like, duh, I had to beat Soph to it. She went out into town the day I’d gone over, so my first impression included being an only child. I mean he knows about her now, but he’ll always remember me first, that’s all I ask. We’ve been spending a lot of time together. I even asked him if he wanted to come with me tomorrow to get Alessa’s present – still undecided, fyi. Gosh, you’d think it’d be easy to shop for a close friend but I think it’s actually the most difficult. What you give a person as a gift says a lot about both the gift giver and receiver. It needs to make a statement and it needs to send the right one. Perhaps I’ll just get her an arrangement of things and make a gift basket of sorts. Or is that too much? I don’t need to appear desperate or indecisive. Perhaps Benji could give me some insight. Although he merely knows I’m shopping for “a friend.” He won’t be of any use besides providing me some company and eye candy. Note to self: Joe, you really need to start executing gift ideas sooner. Five days!

Sqeeeee! Buy Alessa’s gift? Make Alessa’s gift? Check and check. Turns out Benji’s right in the head when it comes to ideas. I’m ashamed I didn’t even think of it myself. Well, I did end up buying the love potions book. I admit it, I took a peek through and there’s some pretty juicy stuff in there. (I had to make sure it was worth buying, of course). I’m tempted to jot a few down, if only to see if they work. One of them actually specifies that your crush will be the one to fall in love with you – after you somehow manage to get a lock of their hair. Because that’s not awkward at all. Doesn’t matter. I don’t need a potion to make a boy swoon. I think there’s something bubbling with Benji and I, mhmm. Alessa’s doesn’t need one much, either – girl’s gorgeous – but I just couldn’t help myself. Gag gifts are the best. We might even get to have some fun with it next term. Then, this is where Benji showed potential, I found a little bag of charms and the like, and we came back to search the shore some for small shells. The result was a beautiful, colorful bracelet. Alessa should like it; it can match nearly anything. That’s the key to a good accessory. High hopes. Four days!
