Authors Note: the following is a chronological list of all the Role Plays that Rabastan has been in. I tried my best to make sure they came in the correct order. This is a simple record of Rabastan’s history since the start of his seventh year and also allows me to better keep track of my threads.

Dark green (006600) represents Role Plays that are completed and or have been discontinued for whatever reason.
Light Green (66C700) represents the Role Plays that are still currently in session.

CHAPTER ONE:

• THE OTHER PRINCE’S PLOT.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring the Avid Frog Lover Society – suspicion about Debbie Hemlock’s affair against the Dark Lord are presented at the meeting and what the students are to do with her and the threat she is presenting. Rabastan is unsettled about taking orders, but nonetheless follows them.
  
  
• THE THRILL OF A MURDER.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Edgar Bones – Rabastan fancies a walk around the grounds only to run into first the annoying and persistent Vivienne Schwartz and then Edgar, who quickly engage in battle. The Whomping Willow also assists, leaving both boys with a few broken ribs and covered in blood.
  
  
• AFTERMATH OF A MURDER.

  Featuring Harper Lawless – after dueling with Edgar Bones, he heads towards the lake to fix himself up before going back to the castle and runs into Harper. This is where their relationship is first started, also the beginnings of the harassment Rabastan is set to endure because of his new Hufflepuff girlfriend.
  
  
• BAD MEDICINE.

  Featuring Amelie Piper – Rabastan runs into his fellow Slytherin with the only intention of chewing her out because of what happened with Harper. [See What Are You Going to Do?] Their fight escalades to many different levels but oddly enough ends with a urgent kiss – Rabastan refuses to get involved with Amelie, but clearly shows interest in wanting to.
  
  
• THIS FEELS SO WRONG, SO IT MUST BE RIGHT.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Harper Lawless – a week since Harper’s “accident” the two go out on their belated date to the Shrieking Shack. The day is filled with Rabastan’s talent on guitar and Harper’s singing, but of course Rabastan meanwhile is also trying to persuade Harper into more then a few kisses on the cheek. She – naturally – tells him no.
  
  
• BIRTHDAY BASH.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring the Slytherins – Severus is hosting a snake-only birthday party for himself. Rabastan – naturally – was on the guest list. What starts as an attempt to get away from the remarks about his relationship with Harper turns into a fiasco quickly enough, Amelie confronting Rabastan while he’s talking with Marlene – the only Gryffindor at the party and very obviously the bait.
  
  
• MUDEROUS INTENTIONS.

  Featuring Isabella Swan, Amory Kerr, and Harper Lawless – alone out by the lake Rabastan is confronted and punched by Isabella Swan about his abuse towards Harper. Because of the noise created, Amory comes to see what’s up and a duel begins, only to be interrupted by Harper herself.

CHAPTER TWO:

• SELF-LOATHING IS KEY.
  Featuring Amelie Piper and Evan Rosier – Rabastan (frustrated by his newly found singleness and silence from Amelie) seeks refuges at the Quidditch Pitch only to overhear a conversation between Amelie and Evan. He intervenes for a few minutes, but as always, leaves irritated by his false competition for Amelie’s affection.
  
  
• BREATHING JUST PASSES THE TIME.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Professor Erik Dautry – Vivienne is being harassed by Rabastan, but just as she flees Erik comes to the scene and confronts the Slytherin about his brutality toward the young girl. Thinking nothing of it Rabastan shoves the remarks away but once taunted by Erik about Harper his fists do the talking for him. Punching a professor in the face lands Rabastan a detention – though in his mind – it was worth it.
  
  
• BLANK FACES.

  Featuring Kahi Statton – for the longest time the two Slytherins have been content as friend – with (pleasurable) benefits. Today starts off as just another one of those days but then at a rapid pace things escalate into something much more. What happens when the feelings become real – and aren’t returned? As the pair try to solve the answer to that question the answer becomes clear: they’re only going to find it in bed.
  
  
• WE FIND THE DEFENDANT – GUILTY?
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Professor Erik Dautry – [a continuation of “Breathing Just Passes the Time”] Rabastan turns up for his detention, which is to help Dautry grade papers. The seventh year is set on being stubbornly quiet and doesn’t say a word through the whole meeting. For fear of blowing up again, he remains biting his snide remarks back for the evening and leaves without much trouble. An uneventful night, but highly tense.
  
  
• LIVING WELL IS THE BEST REVENGE.

  Featuring Narcissa Black – note passing during class. The pair discuss the makings of a peace treaty though Rabastan proves reluctant to do anything of the sort at first. Though, towards the end (and feeling more himself so to speak) the two agree to meet later that night to.
  
  
• YOU WON’T KNOW.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Narcissa Black and Vivienne Schwartz – Rabastan gets Vivienne to agree to meet him later at night only to take her as his torture victim for the evening. As a peace offering – of sorts, at least – to Narcissa he brings the young Ravenclaw along with him to the Shack where they proceed to hurt her both mentally and physically. Before the night is up they erase her memory completely of the innocent and drop her off at the front steps of the castle.
  
  
• SHINERS ARN’T SHINY.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Amelie Piper – Rabastan overhears that Amelie absence is due to her being cooped up in the Hospital Wing. He struggles all morning about whether or not he should go see her, still being on bad terms with her and wishing to fix it, and eventually works up the nerve to go visit her. Faking sleep, Amelie lays with her back towards him. When she “wakes up” they push through the hardest conversation, and then the two sneak out of the Hospital Wing together in favor of the Room of Requirement.
  
  
• HOW MUCH, IS TOO MUCH?
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Rita Skeeter – the daring Slytherin is out late at night roaming about the grounds minding his own business; that is, until he’s threatened to be caught and brought in to the professor to receive his punishment for being out after hours. As luck would have it, he’s able to get away and sneak back into the castle only to run into a drunken Rita. Rabastan takes full advantage of Skeets dismal state for some good mock time.
  
  
• BETWEEN SMILES & REGRETS.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Khai Statton – the conversation had to happen some time: both Slytherins finally sit down and discuss what they’re going to do about their friendship. After some screams and tears, the two come to a conclusion there was no room for friendly benefits anymore. Rabastan promises to behave if she will, after giving her one more last parting (and particularly lustful kiss) that changes their relationship for good.
  
  
• THE NEXT BEST THING.

  Featuring Khai Statton – both Slytherins are out drinking. Surprising? Not really. However, what may shock you is that they’re doing it alone. Rabastan is outside downing himself in drunken thoughts while Khai does similarly in the common room. When Rabastan goes inside, a tantrum worth of a five year old takes place and more feelings are hurt and mended.
  
  
• DO YOU MISS ME?
  - - - (Note Thread)
  Featuring Anette Baker – after the fiasco with Harper Rabastan proves to be a little unwilling to ever speak to another Hufflepuff again but out of sheer boredom he decided to humor Anette and answer her summons in the form of a note. He’s cynical and bitter but towards the end they agree to meet up later. He was the one to suggest it, but even so he’d reluctant to be much more then a nuisance to her.
  
  
• KIDS WITH GUNS.

  Featuring Rudolphus Lestrange and Khai Statton – Rodo is down in the common room (without knowing Khai was just there, now shut up in a closet to hide) when Rabastan comes down. There’s been tension between the two brothers for days now, but when an argument breaks out – so does Khai’s cover. Having heard things she shouldn’t have, the sentence is death. Rabastan, still undecided about his feelings for her, spares her life and beats Rodolphus’. Rabastan flees, Rodolphus lays unconscious, and Khai – leaves Hogwarts.

CHAPTER THREE:

• ONE OF THOSE NIGHTS.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Khai Statton – Rabastan is out late at night, avoiding sleep, when he runs into Khai returning back to Hogwarts. Practically surprised into shock, he immediately goes over to her and questions where or not he’s really awake. The two of them sit down on a bench and talk for a little while, before Khai falls asleep. Long after that, Rabastan is still sitting there keeping her wrapped in a hug just thinking about things. He finally scoops her up and goes back to the common room, where he lays her on the couch and falls asleep with her. In the morning, he goes back to his dorm before she wakes up – however, not without first realizing he’s never been content with being “just friends.”
  
  
• HUNG OVER AND FEELING.

  Featuring Jagger [Rose] – a simple note between the two boys. You know, the normal things: death threats, how you’ve been, blowing up classrooms, taking a smoke… Yeah, normal. For a pair of younger, rambunctious Slytherins anyways.
  
  
• FAMOUS LAST WORDS.

  Featuring Jagger [Rose] and Khai Statton – Rabastan is out running away his frustrations, and when he does finally come back to the common room a particularly disgusting sight greets me: one and only Jagger, attempting to rape his Khai. Lost in a sudden urge of anger, Rabastan tears Jagger away, and then, consequently subject to his own fury, snaps Jagger’s neck. In shock, the two clean up the common room and frame Jagger’s accidental drunken death. That done, Khai confronts Rabastan yet again about why he is always doing things for her, and finally, he admits: “I love you.”
  
  
• UNDERSTANDING THE NEW VIOLENCE.

  Featuring Regulus Black – Regulus approaches Rabastan to warn him about the interviews they now face because of Jagger’s death. Professor Godolphin is taking in Rabastan, Khai, and Alecto (from hearing she had her issues with him) for questioning. Rabastan denies the story entirely, claiming there is nothing to be found. And in the story he’s made up for himself on the night of Jagger’s death, there isn’t.
  
  
• HALF DOOMED & SEMI-SWEET.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Khai Statton – Rabastan is out flying around the Quidditch Pitch (at extremely high speeds and eventually doing a completely nose dive into the ground) while he waits for Khai to arrive. When she finally does, few casual words are exchanged over his danger habit and then he explains the story they’re using for Professor Godolphin’s questioning. And then, in true Rabastan-Khai fashion, few kisses later they’ve forgotten their worries.
  
  
• JUST TAKE IT IN.

  Featuring Khai Statton – first day of Rabastan’s second year, he and Mick are our dueling (for no other reason then to be rowdy boys) when the sun begins to fall and they decide to head back in. Upon entrance, they start scouting out hopefuls for victims. Mick pinpoints “a girl” and immediately Rabastan shuts him down. He tells Mick to go elsewhere, and he goes over by himself. Nameless girl, at first one-worded and alone and after some persuasion on Rabastan’s part…Khai agrees they should be friends.
  
  
• DECEPTION.

  Featuring Justine Mercer – normal note passing turns into a little session of harmless flirting. By the end, Rabastan and Justine agree to meet up on Saturday for a planned-unplanned date-not-date.

  Featuring Khai Statton– Khai’s concerned over her kiss with Ludo while dating Rabastan, and passes him a note during class saying they need to talk. Quickly Rabastan agrees and they decide meet up with each other after class.
  
  
• HIDE AND SEEK.

  [Continuation of “Check Yes or No”]
  Featuring Khai Statton – after being scowled by his professor for being such an angry disruption in class, Rabastan goes back to the common room to meet Khai as promised. What he finds isn’t promising. After a few tears, a lot of hurtful words, and contradictory emotions: Rabastan finds out he’s been cheated on (the “other guy” being Ludo) and breaks up with Khai. Straight from there, he goes straight out into the Forbidden Forest to do some quality moping.

CHAPTER FOUR:

• THE LETDOWN.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  [Continuation of “Hide and Seek.”]
  Featuring Isabella Swan – straight after his breakup with Khai, Rabastan heads out to the Forbidden Forest looking to just be alone. He’s out there for so time, when Bella decided to go for a walk after dinner. While out, she hears his screaming and goes into the Forest. On principle, the two normally hate each other – which is present through their entire conversation and fighting – but at the end, they leave as temporary friends. On the way to the Hospital Wing, they run into Remus – of course furious and jumping to wild conclusions about Bella’s state – and attacks Rabastan on the spot. End result: both Bella and Rabastan in the Hospital Wing for two days.
  
  
• SCENE CHANGE.

  [Continuation of “The Letdown.”]
  Featuring Isabella Swan and Khai Statton – from their dreary conversation out in the forest, both trudge up to the Hospital Wing. Along the way, they run into Remus and Rabastan gets his fair share of hits. The next morning Bella and Rabastan are sitting in their confinement when Khai comes in and talks to Rabastan briefly, who is of course reluctant to so much as look at her. Very little closure settlings over the two of them. Mostly, it’s a mere we’re officially over.
  
  
• SAY WHAT YOU NEED TO SAY.

  Featuring Lyra Yorick – having not talked in literally months due to a number of explained events, Rabastan and Lyra agree to meet up after a series of note passing. Rabastan craves “less complicated company” and Lyra just wants a chance to talk to Rabastan, The Friend – not Rabastan, The Slytherin.
  
  
• SATURDAY.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Lyra Yorick – Rabastan is waiting at the Three Broomsticks when he’s approached by Brandi. Neither knows each other but they make small talk and shamelessly flirt. However, it’s in pure vain for Rabastan – he even uses a fake name. Their game is ruined when Lyra interrupts them. Rabastan smiles and waves Brandi away without regret. Lyra and him share lunch and drinks.
  
  
• RUMBLE FISH.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Sid Darley, Drake Valo, Isabella Swan, and Remus Lupin – Remus and Bella are out for no other reason then to spend some time with each other and as they were coming back into the castle they could hear quite the disruption going on. Entering the scene Drake and Sid were in a brutal fist fight and automatically Bella runs to grab Drake and try to pull him off. In the process, a wild swing comes from Sid and sends her flying backwards. About that time, Remus (naturally furious) goes to tear up the fight and help Bella back up while Rabastan (another bystander) rips Sid away from Drake.
  
  
• THE ENEMY.

  [Continuation of “Rumble Fish”]
  Featuring Isabella Swan and Remus Lupin – Bella, Remus, and Rabastan leave the fist fight and head for the Hospital Wing. On the way there Bella and Rabastan talk, leaving Remus irritated. Upon entering the infirmary all three are looked at separately leaving time in-between for dyads to form and exchange a brief amount of words. Not the least of which include Bella finding out about Rabastan’s new tattoo, and Bella promising to Remus that she won’t hang around Rabastan anymore.
  
  
• GET BUSY DYING.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Remus Lupin and Tyson Adams – Rabastan is down at the Quidditch Pitch when he notices the Gryffindor’s team coming for practice. Having already been there a while he dismounts and heads to the showers. When he’s coming back out he notices Remus out by the pitch and interrupts. A brutal fight erupts over Rabastan’s persistence in ruining Remus and Bella’s relationship before Tyson comes and breaks them apart.
  
  
• CAN’T DO ANYTHING RIGHT.

  Featuring Johnny Myers and Isabella Swan – Johnny and Bella meet up after class but they don’t get very far before Rabastan interrupts them. A few irritable remarks later Rabastan’s decided Johnny’s face is worthy of his fist. Before anything too bad can happen, Bella compulsively punches Rabastan straight in the face to get him to stop. And he does, backing off as she starts to scream at him. He leaves, and Bella hastily takes Johnny to the Hospital Wing to see if they can get his now-broken nose fixed.
  
  
• PUSHING ME AWAY.

  Featuring Tyson Adams, Isabella Swan and Remus Lupin – Remus asks to meet Bella after dinner, so through all of dinner she’s aggravated because of what she believe he’ll want to talk to her about. Tyson tries to asks her what’s wrong and once learning it has to do with Rabastan he’s angry with her, too. Bella gets up to leave and on her way out Rabastan catches her – she rudely explains he’s to leave her alone, slaps him, and leaves. Down at the lake Remus and Bella both angrily state their view on the matter but by the end, the two exhaust themselves and make up. They then head back to the Gryffindor dorms.
  
  
• DOWN ON THE FLOOR.

  Featuring Wynter LaCroix – down and depressed on himself, Wynter – a close and very blunt friend of his – passes Rabastan a note in hopes of striking up a conversation amongst the boring class period. And as it ensues, Rabastan caves to his own desires and asks Wynter if she wants to meet up later. One wholehearted yes later and they have plans.
  
  
• PRICE OF COMPANY.

  [Continuation of “Down on the Floor”]
  Featuring Wynter LaCroix – Rabastan and Wynter head out to the Shrieking Shack as they’ve often done before. For Rabastan, he’s more excited about just getting out again and not having to worry about things. For Wynter, she’s just happy to finally get Rabastan out again. They spend the night there, and stay for the following day.
  
  
• BEAUTIFUL OBLIVION.

  Featuring Kariana Travers – Rabastan and Kat pass note during class, always flirting of course, but the spirits are dampened by “bad topics:” Valentine’s Ball, Regulus Black, Rabastan’s love life… So they agree the weekend after the dance they’re going to get together to go shopping, have dinner, and out for drinks.

CHAPTER FIVE:

• AMERICA’S SUITEHEARTS.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Wynter LaCroix – Rabastan moans and groans about Valentine’s Day to himself while he’s getting ready for the dance. He’s not excited to go, but promised Wynter he would. They do go to the ball together, but it doesn’t last long: they don’t share a dance, they hardly even talk…Rabastan being too absorbed in watching Khai from across the room. On an impulse decision he leaves Wynter to go talk to Khai instead, and never does return form doing so.
  
  
• SUPPOSE.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Khai Statton – Rabastan as gone to the Valentine’s Ball with Wynter, as promised, but he isn’t paying much attention to anything she’s saying. He had come with the intention of simply talking to Khai, but after witnessing her second-bested for Marlene he follows after her into a nearby classroom. There, he finally confesses he can’t continue to ignore her even if it’s “for the better.” It’s there that he finally resolves, permanently, to gain back Khai’s trust and hopefully love.
  
  
• ONE & ONLY.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Khai Statton – Rabastan follows Khai out of the classroom after potions, knowing she’s just going to wherever they can talk for his previously-decided five minutes. However, their conversation turns into more fighting and eventually a defeated agreement to stop ignoring one another. It’s inevitable that they should be friends, and while not everyone is going to agree with it… Well, they are going to try and figure out a way to keep majority parties happy. They head back to the common room, both exhausted, and go to the couch for a familiar nap session.
  
  
• THNKS FR TH MMRS.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Kariana Travers – Like he had promised, Rabastan takes Kariana out to Hogsmeade to go shopping and get something to eat. While they’re out she reminds him about trying on a few different items of clothing including leather pants. He makes a fuss, but does it anyways. They joke around with each other for the most part but Rabastan is still preoccupied with thinking about Khai. Kariana notices but doesn’t seem too offended by it.
  
  
• HELL HATH NO FURY.

  Featuring Wynter LaCroix – Wynter is upset with Rabastan for ditching her at the Valentine’s Ball and finally confronts him about it during class through a note, where he can’t escape. He’d been trying to avoid her for a while now and finally owes up to being a bad date and leaving her and not returning practically ten minutes into the dance. He offers to make up for it and they agree to meet up next weekend for Wynter to get her first tattoo.
  
  
• EVERY CHANCE I GET.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Regulus Black, Rodolphus Lestrange and Jenna Edwards – Rabastan and Rodolphus, with things still tense between them, set out during the night to go meet up with Regulus in the Forbidden Forest. Regulus suspects them to be the reason someone outside of the unofficial Death Eaters, which is true, but neither will own up to it. While arguing about who’s fault is what, Jenna Edwards unfortunately stumbles upon the conversations, out late because of her own unstable thoughts. To “prove himself” over again to Regulus, he’s asked to erase Jenna’s memory. Rabastan obliged without second thought, however while performing the spell Jenna manages to block him back out again, accustomed to mind games because of her brother, Jacob. The job half finished, Jenna’s memory has been erased. But the malfunction instead not only erased just that conversation, rather everything is gone.
  
  
• HANDOUT FOR THE SELLOUTS.

  Featuring Khai Statton – now officially on “just friend” terms Rabastan decides to sit beside Khai during potions, because friends can do that can’t they? Of course they can. Both try to make it work but with the newest boundaries, as Khai points out, it makes things hard. It will take getting used to, and definitely be interesting trying to find their spot in one another’s lives, however: they’ll be doing it together, and that’s all either were really after.
  
  
• ME+YOU.

  [Continuation of “Handbook for the Sellout”]
  Featuring Khai Statton – Rabastan, reluctant to let Khai leave his sight, asks her if she wants to go out for a walk. She agrees, hesitantly, and they go outside headed for the lake. Along the way they discuss a lot of things in great length, the biggest topic being both sides of the story to Khai’s month-long absence. Rabastan again insists he won’t be going anywhere, and she continues to enforce her new set of rules. By the end, they’re on happy-enough terms.
  
  
• JOKE (IS ON YOU).
  - - - (Note Thread)
  Featuring Mick Magneson – Rabastan and Mick bicker over unimportant matters for a little while until Mick points out how much Rabastan has been watching Khai during the class period. Annoyed with Rabastan, Mick tells him off for being oh-so obsessed with her. Rabastan turns around and asks him for help winning her back instead. They agree to meet up after class.
  
  
• CARPEL TUNNEL OF LOVE.

  [Continuation of “Joke (Is On You)”]
  Featuring Mick Magneson – Rabastan has been working on a song to perform for Khai, but hasn’t figured out a good accompaniment for his lyrics. He had asked Mick if he wanted to help him out and though reluctant Mick did so. After some time up in their dorm the pair has managed to string together a melody and chorus line.
  
  
• CATCH ME IF YOU CAN.
  - - - (Regular Role Play)
  Featuring Khai Statton – Khai sits at the Slytherin’s table poking her food lazily when Rabastan comes up from the common room and joins her at dinner. He’s friendly at first, but immediately tipped off to her bad mood. As a peace-making gift he gives her a small bag of candies, which she rejects, and instead informs him she and Ludovic Bagman have broken up. Rabastan, suddenly unsure what to do with that knowledge, makes comment and the two argue for a short time before he finally gets up and leaves. Khai remains seated and irked; Rabastan’s laughing by the time he makes it to the library.
  
  
• FALLEN FOR YOU.

  Featuring Khai Statton – after a solid two months of trying to at least be friends with Khai, Rabastan finally asks if she’d be willing to spend her birthday with him. He’d led up to the week with smaller gifts, and had three left. One was a small pair of earrings, another a pair of shoes…and finally, a song he’d written for her and planned on performing if she agreed to come out with him. She does, and they go down to the stables together that night. With the weeks building up to this night, Rabastan deems his efforts worth it by the end of the night: he got Khai back, and that’s all he’d been after.

CHAPTER SIX:

• & YOU’RE THE ONLY PLACE THAT FEELS LIKE HOME.

  Featuring Khai Statton – Who would have thought cats and sex go together? Well, they don’t, but both do come up in conversation after the pleasantries are done with. The pair debates back and forth on one-uping the other, along with Khai’s persuasion to have Rabastan come along with her during the weekend to go buy a new kitten. Being Rabastan, he agrees. At the end of class, the head elsewhere for some “alone time” before parting ways.
  
  
• DYNAMITE.

The three of them make it down to Hogsmeade together alright, but it isn’t long before Mick goes his own way to leave Rabastan and Khai alone. Before they go into the pet shop, Khai gives Rabastan a once-valued necklace of hers. After his thanks, they go in and Khai picks out her new pet. Rabastan – against her wishes – pays for The Cat and they head out to enjoy the rest of the day.

High off his own self-created high, Rabastan almost doesn’t notice when another player takes to the field. Irritated, he confronts Keller’s rude interruption to his flying and the two banter back and forth. She’s always had a thing for him, and he can’t help but love the attention.   Featuring Khai Statton – Rabastan had just come in from talking with J and headed back up to the Slytherin Common Room, where he finds Khai curled up on the couch. At first everything was okay, they sat talking for a little while, but when Khai starting implying more then just a few kisses Rabastan pushed her back. What started as a simple, effortless night turns into a angry fight between the pair. However, when Khai comes back over to him looking lowly, Rabastan gives up being upset and they go back up to his dorm together to get some sleep.

  Featuring Khai Statton – Rabastan wakes up to something new; that being, a bed by himself and a missing Khai Statton. Thinking she might have gone down to the kitchen for an early morning snack or something, he pulls a t-shirt on and heads downstairs to go find her. It doesn’t last as long as he’d thought it would though, finding her sitting at a table in the common room trying to finish some of her homework. Rabastan had a much more enjoyable way to spend the morning, coaxing her back to bed easily enough before hinting at his reasoning. As it goes, kisses turn into more and they spend a few more hours curled up together – only half the time sleeping.

In the mess of trying to figure out what is going on, the two slip out of the classroom for a bit of unsupervised fun.

Under the full assumption that he might as well be dying he only stops complaining whenever she comes up to visit him. He’s had a few other visitors, some rather unexpected, but hers are the ones that always make him smile.

  Featuring Khai Statton – Hardly to any hindrance on Rabastan’s part, Khai has taken to sneaking into his dorm every night to sleep with him rather then alone in her own bed. However, she wakes up early one morning and rushes to the bathroom – not to use the facilities, but to hurl up the contents of her stomach into the toilet bowl. Rabastan sits with her and carefully ignores the smell while holding her hair out of the way. The only conclusion either can come up with is that she got sick from being around Rabastan when he had been ill. Neither ever suspected it was actually the results of morning sickness from a pregnancy.

CHAPTER SEVEN:

• THE BEND BECOMES THE BREAK

  Featuring Khai Statton – A little torn of how he’s going to tell Khai he has to leave for the weekend, Rabastan wrestles with both direct and indirect ways. Eventually, he goes with the indirect direct route: note passing. Rabastan’s just as irritated he has to leave at all, but has alternative motives for the trip besides his uncle’s passing. Without telling Khai she’ll appreciate his absence later, rather then sooner, they spend Rabastan’s last couple of hours together after dinner before he leaves for home with Rodolphus.
  
  
• AND YOU CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD.

  Featuring Lestrange family and le Fay family – Rabastan and Rodolphus play nice for the family scene, sitting next to each other in coexistence during their uncle’s funeral but when out of their parent’s eye things are just as they have been: irritable and hurt. After the procession is over and the Lestrange’s back home, Rabastan sits up in his room for a time before finally going to see Rodolphus. Why would he even bother? Because he wanted to talk to his brother about what he’d been thinking about for weeks: marrying Khai Statton. The news isn’t taken well from anyone but his mother: Rodolphus laughs hysterically, Constantine couldn’t think of a worst possible scenario, the le Fay’s and Ashlee storm away from the manor and Dominique’s the only one there after the fights settle down. Several conversations and a few more shouts later, a deal is worked out. Rabastan and Rodolphus go back to Hogwarts Sunday morning, with Rodolphus being the only one with an invite back home.

  Featuring Khai Statton – Ever since Rabastan came back from his weekend trip to home, Khai’s been acting strange. Mostly just anxious and being kind of snappy at everyone. It goes mostly unnoticed, but Rabastan has seen the difference and finally asks her what’s wrong one day after classes. He’d considered every option but one, it seemed, hit with life-changing news he wasn’t expecting: Khai’s pregnant. Fearful that he might be furious, Khai’s already crying before Rabastan has a chance to wrap her up in a hug and promise he won’t be leaving any time soon. After the initial shock wears down, they tease about the baby’s gender…smiling, despite knowing their relationship won’t ever be the same.

She agrees, confused, until she begins counting and hears music after a few beats. Rabastan plays her a self-composed song, fumbles as smoothly through his words as his nerves will allow and then finally drops down to one knee. Heart racing he asked those four little words. They go back to the castle a happily engaged pair.
