{ A B O U T . T H E . C H A R A C T E R } Name: Daegan Calix Aquilae Age: 16 Gender: Male Year: 6th Face Claim: Adam Lambert
Canon or Original? Original
Facial Properties: Most would say Daegan has a rather, well, pretty face for a boy. No, he's not unusually attractive or baby-faced, he's just seen to be literally quite femininely pretty. While he actually has very masculine features for the most part, his naturally long-lashed, almond eyes give that impression. He has a rather pointy nose and slightly high and prominent cheekbones. His complexion is fairly tan, yet greatly decorated with freckles, especially on and around his lips. His hair is jet black, which, along with his tan, makes his pale blue eyes stand out all the more.
Physique: Always having been taller than most, he only recently grew out of being underweight for his height. These days, he has finally gotten more of a build. While he is still thin, it is now more athletically so, even with a fair amount of muscle. At a height of exactly six feet and weighing in at a little over one hundred and fifty pounds, the majority of his tall height is made up of legs. Daegan has very long legs and arms, and slightly large hands and feet, though not to the point that he looks disproportioned.
Wand Type: 14 inches, Rowan, and Dragon Heartstring. Wand Expertise: Transfiguration spells. Patronus: Peacock Boggart: Kelpie Personality: Daegan can almost seem to have two different personalities. It depends on who he is around and what mood you catch him in.
Individuality is something he greatly values. Without it, we would all be the same, and how boring would that be? While he is just having fun and showing his true self, many would probably say he is pushing it, or perhaps, trying too hard. He enjoys creativity and art. He embraces who he is. Nothing more, nothing less. He always gains a real, strong passion for everything he becomes interested in. If he's going to do something, he's going to put his all into it, and push the limits. He has great ambition and determination, which is fueled by passion.
He is a chatterbox. He loves noise and people. Entertaining people, to be specific. Really, it's not that he thinks he's wonderful and should be the center of attention. Or maybe it is, on occasion. Sometimes his self-confidence can get the better of him. However, most of the time, he just loves entertaining people, making them laugh. Even if it's because he's done something stupid or hurt himself. He's far from shy and quite hard to truly embarrass. This also is one of his favorite remedies for his over-abundance of energy. He probably has some sort of hyperactive disorder.
That side of him is the one that is seen much less often. While it is truly a huge part of him, he has found that other points of his changing personality get him further. That would be the cold and dark side. The side that will never forget what happened in his younger years. The side that believes that everyone deserves to suffer if he has to. It brings out the anger, hate, and sadism. It makes him want nothing more than to torture the hell out of people when they so much as slightly annoy him. Sometimes he will take both, use it to lure people in, before attacking.
He has a real good sense of sarcasm. It comes in handy when he needs a good, original, comeback to the pathetic insults and snide remarks that may occasionally be thrown his way. More often, he uses it to give a witty comeback to anything and everything. He does enjoy being a smart-ass and ticking people off. Depending on who you are and when it is, you may get a completely different idea from this trait. If you are someone he actually likes, you will probably find it amusing and good for jokes. If you are part of the majority and some he dislikes, it will probably make you think he's a complete jerk.
Likes: +Music +Potions +Attracting attention +Individuality +Torturing people +Talking +Nighttime +Astronomy +Getting his way +Alcohol Dislikes: –Silence –Charms –Inexcusable stupidity –Dogs –Failure –His freckles –Pathetic insults –His biological family –Gryffindors –Ignorance
History: How Arlo Knox and Halia Levy met, could be considered somewhat cliché, I suppose. Perhaps, too good to be true, which would later turn out to be correct. Halia, a muggle, worked at a little old restaurant in Liverpool. Arlo, a wizard, was a regular at the restaurant, despite it being run by, and full of, muggles, he loved their breakfast. Morning after morning, he would stop by, minding his own business and enjoying the food. That was until Halia was hired. The first day he saw her there, he was stunned, and as stupid as it sounds, would tell anyone it was 'love at first sight'. From then on, he would jinx his way into getting her to wait on him; to talk to her and get to know the lovely lady. However many conversations and dates late, he had undoubtedly captured her heart, even if some magic had been involved.
Not long after, Halia wound up pregnant. Of course, it was unplanned, they were both young. However, they thought they were deeply in love, that they would last forever, so why shouldn't they have a child together? Wanting to make everything proper, Arlo proposed. Halia said yes, and they quickly wed. Everything really seemed perfect. There was only one problem. One big problem. Halia was still unaware that her new husband was a wizard, as was the unborn child she was carrying.
Months later, on a strangely cold February morning, Daegan Calix Knox came into the world. The couple was happy as could be with their baby boy. Everything was still completely perfect. It would continue to be for the next few years, but not forever, like the lovers so thought. It would be seemingly true that “secrets are made to be found out in time”, and “all good things must come to an end”. Arlo's secret was given away to his wife only a few weeks before Daegan's fourth birthday. The years of hiding and lying to his wife were weighing down on him. She had accidentally seen him using magic again, and this time he didn't know how to cover it up, especially considering that in the near future, his son would be showing signs of magic as well. Halia would have to know in time as it was, if only because someday Daegan would need to go to Hogwarts.
That night, Arlo broke the news to his wife. That night, all hell broke loose in the Knox household. First, Halia was in denial. Then, when Arlo had showed her to the point that she could no longer deny it, and assured her that their son would be the same, she, quite literally, lost it. It started out with screaming; raving on about how he was a freak. No, they were both freaks. Freaks, and she didn't love him and she didn't want a child that would grow up to be like him. Arlo attempted to calm her, to bring her to her senses, for Daegan's sake at least. That's where it turned violent. She was intent on proving her point, that they were abominations who did not deserve to live. After stealing the man's wand to eliminate his advantage, she took the boy first. Locking the two of them in the bathroom, she attempted to drown him. By the time Arlo got the door open without magic, his wand back, and Halia unconscious, the boy was also unconscious and nearly gone. Arlo rushed him to St. Mungo's, but then returned home; he couldn't let Halia wake up and escape. What he didn't expect, was another fight, which would end in both parents going to prison for attempted murder.
Daegan pulled through, quickly returning to full health with the care of the healers. Though, he was now orphaned. That did not last long. A couple by the names of Killian and Nerina Aquilae adopted him soon after the ordeal. They really were not a whole lot better. They were extremely strict and intolerant. As he grew up and began to truly understand things, he often wondered why they even ever adopted him. Especially as they continuously got worse. They stepped over the line, from just overly strict, to abusive. The more he stuck with his personal choices and rebelled, the worse they got; physically and mentally.
Hogwarts has been like Daegan's great getaway. The place where he can get a way from the hell he calls home, be himself, more so at least, and be with his friends, even if they are very few. With his great ambition, determination and goals, he has always kept his grades high and at the top of his class. What with his rebellious, somewhat crazy nature, he is not one people seem to expect to be so into school and his grades, but he certainly is. He is determined to prove himself and therefore, determined to be at the top. Though, don't let that fool you into thinking that he doesn't have fun. Spending time with his friends and torturing all of the rest of the students, are about all he spends his free time on. The free time which, unfortunately for almost everyone besides him, is more abundant now that he is in sixth year, with those breaks between every few classes. Hoping for an exciting year, Daegan really can't wait to turn seventeen, be of age, and know he'll never have to live with Killian and Nerina again.
Sample Post: It was yet another slow day for Osiris Rowntree. As usual, he was running on little sleep. As it was a Tuesday, he had actually not been up, being himself and having too much fun, the night before. However, he had still been up all night. Most people would think he would be out like a light, having worn himself down, with the way he ran around like a hyper-active five year old all day. The restless, insomniac, Gryffindor boy did not. He was wide awake. Tossing and turning and wanting to throw his pillow across the dormitory at one of the other boys who was fast asleep and snoring so loud he could have sworn it was shaking the room.
After shaking himself awake and rushing to get ready, he just made it on time for his first lesson of the day. It had to have been some kind of miracle. The Transfigurations professor sure seemed to think so, as she greeted him happily, but with surprise. The way she spoke, you would have thought it was the first time he was on time for a class. Then again, it probably was fairly close to a first, especially recently. He really was trying, but the sleeping early and waking early routine, it just didn't seem that it would ever work out properly.
The following hours brought back the Osiris that everyone knew, as always. It was just that first class that he was groggy and dragging. By the next, he was bright eyed, bubbly and practically skipping down the corridors. By his last class of the day, Astronomy, the level of energy was almost uncontrollable. It, of course, did not help that he actually highly enjoyed Astronomy. He had always had a fascination with the planets and stars, and it had, therefore, always been his best class. Book bag swinging on his shoulder, rather wildly and dangerously to those walking around him, Osiris jogged up to the Astronomy tower.
Making his way into the classroom, he slowed down, but continued to sing under his breath and nod his head along to the tune. Suddenly realizing he wasn't alone, he fell silent. Walking over to the telescope to the immediate left of the other Gryffindor, he gave a smile. “Hey, Lexa,” he greeted the girl. Osiris grabbed a cloth to clean off the telescope. Whoever was the last person to use it had left the lens covered in smeared fingerprints. After clearing off the lens and wiping down the rest of the telescope for the sake of hygiene, he adjust the height slightly. Not only did they have filthy hands, but apparently were also very short. At least compared to him. Though, nearly everyone was short to him. Finally done perfecting the telescope, he tossed the cloth back into his bag and glanced over at the other Gryffindor. “And now we wait, I guess. I wasn't aware I had arrived so early.” It was rather random ramble, partially to Alexandra, partially to himself out of boredom. However, he felt he had to say something, take a stab at conversation. It was far too quiet for his liking. “Why are you here so early?”

Despite Gryffindor’s being listed in the dislike field, after taking a staffer vote we have agreed that Daegan has been sorted into Gryffindor. The personality depicts him characteristically as one. (:``IZZY
