A small ways pass the village of Diagon Alley resides a magical park fit for all occasions: a place, loving called by all who visit, the Scary Square. The name is not only cleverly alliterated, but very descriptive. It’s a large, perfectly squared field with scaled-down Quidditch goal hoops at either end, wooden picnic tables on the remaining two sides, and off to the Western side of the square is a little playground for the younger park-goers. On top of all that, it’s encircled with a dirt path around the edges so if you’re just looking for a good place for a jog, it fits your needs. There are tree surrounding the overall landscape, which are ingeniously charmed with a muggle barrier to prevent wanderers. They, in fact, get a creeped-out feeling just by looking at it so no muggle ever even wants to go near it.
The Family Fright Fest fair is held here, where each Hogwarts house hosts their booth, there’s carnival games, a few smaller rides, and lots of free, delicious food. Donations are welcomed (all proceeds go towards the End of the Year Ball for decorations, entertainment, etc). The very best part are the decorations: floating candle-lit pumpkins, eerie fog near the base of the trees to create a terrifying wood, plastic spiders littering the table tops and ghostly statues as the center piece. This special occasion is specifically designed for the students and their families to enjoy a fun-filled weekend! It even includes the reserved inns in the village just east of the park. While Diagon Alley is opened to all FFF participants (shops even host sales) they still allow others into the village during the weekend. (A customer’s a customer, after all.)
