We've decided (as an admin, not as Dumbledore) to keep tabs on all characters with special abilities. From now on, unless you've signed-up here, you can't mention any skills out of the ordinary in your roleplaying. Otherwise, it could get pretty ridiculous.
Please reply to this thread with the form at the bottom of the page. We won't be accepting anywhere near everybody, so really try to make your character's reasoning believable. Good luck!

It would all be a bit cliche if your character miraculously managed to stay secret with such an ability. Not allowing this one at the moment. Accepted Applications (Originals Only) Shown in order as listed above.
Character Name: Gracie Marlow House: Gryffindor Year: Fourth Ability: Metamorphmagus How was the power developed? Gracie isn't sure where the power came from, but when she was about four or five, she had started noticing (much to her delight) that when she became extremely frustrated or upset, her eyes would begin to turn different colors. This was the first inclination for her adoptive parents that Gracie, indeed, had magical abilities. As she grew up, her powers grew up with her- suddenly, she was able to make her ears sharp and pointy, or was able to make her hair longer or shorter. Of course, she still had to concentrate very hard for it to happen, but her eyes still change colors without her knowing it when her emotions get to be out of her control. When she is in a state of depression, she isn't able to use her powers at all.
Character Name: Annabeth Prewett House: Slytherin Year: Fourth Ability: Metamorphmagus How was the power developed? The first signs of metamorphing in Beth’s life started around the time that she was five. Her hair seemed to fluctuate in varying degrees of brown, but so subtly that the change could barely be noticed, or marked as something other than her growing into her own skin. It was during a time that she had a tantrum about not getting into the bath that the first real change happened, in the form of her entire hair turning a fiery shade of bright red. Her parents, startled and shocked at the sudden development, alluded it to early signs of magic, like any other wizarding child might have had, if perhaps a little younger than most. It was nothing out of the normal to make things shift when one has no control over their own magic, after all. But then there was that time when she was closer to eight that she had been going through some photography books and wondered why her eyes couldn’t be the same bright blue as the model on the cover. When her father came into the room to say goodnight, she looked up with irises the shade of the day sky, and thus her metamorphing abilities were finally established as a real deal.
Once she figured out that she was able to control it; learn how to use this new power she had, that she hadn’t known she had, until it was explained to her by her mother, warning her about the dangers of using it unwisely and saying it might be better if she didn’t use it much at all, Beth didn’t seem to want to stop. She read all that she could about metamorphmagi—that’s what she’d learned she was—and spent days and days standing in front of mirrors, screwing her eyes shut and focusing on changing small aspects about her appearance, starting small. By the time she got to Hogwarts, she was able to change most features of her face at will, though still couldn’t quite manage to completely shift out of her main features, and certainly not her entire frame. As of now, at freshly fifteen years, Beth has kept practicing as much as she can, not necessarily because she wants to use her metamorphing abilities for something, but because she just wants to be able to do it. To be able to fully know every detail of what she can do with her own body by simply willing it so.
Character Name: Indigo Grace House: Gryffindor Year: 7th Ability: Seer How was the power developed? Being a seer is a, surprisingly, somewhat learned skill that was passed down to Indigo by her mother. Of course, she was already inclined with the ability to see the unknown but before, it had been a jumble of ideas, numbers, and visions that made little sense. She was taught at a very young age to embrace her talent and had she remained true to it, Indi may have been a great seer indeed. Today, although rather uncontrolled, Indigo can be considered a seer because of her capability of prophecy. She keeps tight lipped about this power, a power she finds more of a burden than a blessing and only a select few know of Indigo's secret. Imagine the trouble she mind find herself in if the wrong people should know about it. Recently, Indi has begun to make the first efforts to truly harness her ability, as it has been a source of incessant nightmares and spacing out in the middle of class for years. With her strong background developed during her childhood in astronomy, Indigo is good at predicting events even without falling into a trance. It should be noted, however, that a lack in practice always results in more muddled visions, when they should actually occur.
Character Name: Pippin LeBeau House: Ravenclaw Year: Sixth Ability: Animagus How was the power developed? Even though she has no actual proof, Pippin believes that she first started to learn how to transform into an animal out of absolute necessity. It happened the night she became lost looking for her father, long before she knew about magic or Animagi: she was lost and frightened and alone, and wished desperately that she was an animal so that she could smell her way home, or at least have the means to defend herself in case a hungry predator attacked. When she scratched an itch on her cheek (which she now wonders if it was fur growing there) her fingernails felt longer and sharper, but it was too dark to see. Pippin believes that her desperation, combined with her strong imagination as she pictured herself becoming an animal, along with the fact that she lived in close proximity to nature in her early life, are what allowed her to make even such a small change before learning about magic. Ever since the lesson on Animagi in third year, Pippin has been obsessed with learning more about them, and how to become one. She's done the research and since then has been practicing hard in her spare time; after a few attempts, she didn't look like she physically changed, but she felt stronger, more powerful, bigger... so she's made sure to do it alone at night since then, just in case she frightens someone. It was a slow process, but eventually Pippin managed to fully transform herself into what she later learned was a Kermode Bear. Because her Animagus form isn't exactly subtle, she knows she'll only use it if it's necessary. Like if someone is in danger, or a friend says they want a bear hug.
