Hello all! It’s your admins and mods again, bringing you another lovely announcement.
We’ve been doing some major thinking lately concerning returning ISS to its former, active glory. Other than advertising our butts off, we’ve come up with a couple ways that we hope will inspire its members to start posting again, as well.
1. Posting requirements are changing. For ages, the posting requirement has been “three decent paragraphs”. However, everyone’s definition of “decent” is different. ISS defines it as at least six sentences, but if you look at some of the posts on site, three decent paragraphs can also equal up to 1500 words. So, to encourage everyone to dust off their writing fingers, the posting requirement is no longer three decent paragraphs, but rather a minimum of five hundred words. It’s preferable that they are split into paragraphs as they are different from one-paragraph posts, but these paragraphs are not required to be extraordinarily lengthy. Posts can be just as insightful in fewer words without a bunch of filler stuffed in just to make the paragraphs bigger; use it to your advantage. 2. Character bans are ending, specifically the girl ban and the sixth-year ban. No, the ratios are not even, but they are much closer, and perhaps letting go of these bans will give everyone’s muses room to grow. Please keep in mind, however, an ISS rule that is still in place: if you make a girl character first, your next must be a boy. 3. Winter break is ending. Students are returning to school. All holiday threads will move to the Time Turner section. As well, to keep ISS current, threads from before the holidays will either be Time Turner’ed or archived. Please let us know if you honestly, honestly plan on finishing a pre-Christmas thread so it can move to the Time Turner; otherwise, everything will be archived. 4. Classes will be updated for the new term. Sharpen your quills and don’t forget your textbooks! 5. Hogwarts has many clubs and extra-curricular activities. All of the lists will be updated with current members, and starting this term, we’re actually going to use these clubs to our advantage. They open many doors to plotting which otherwise may not have been open. 6. A new in-character game is on the way. We don’t want to ruin the surprise, but it does have something to do with Valentine’s Day. 7. At the end of January, we’re going to bring back the Karma Count game. 8. Quidditch will be returning with Match 4: Ravenclaw versus Slytherin! Better start dusting off your broomsticks and pompoms now. 9. The site plot has been updated! Click here to read it in full. So these are some updates that we're really excited about, and we hope you are too. We hope that it inspires the muses of our members and that activity starts to pick up again.
Happy posting!
