To all ISS members and guests,
Activity Check has ended and all inactive accounts have been purged. Once this finished, we took a look at the Character Roster and realised that we now have a rather-serious imbalance on our hands. It looked okay before, but now it’s become clear that we need to put some holds on characters. So as of today, October 1, 2011* and continuing until we even things out a bit, we are no longer accepting the following characters:
- Canon Gryffindors
The number of Gryffindors is generally always higher than other houses, but at this point, it’s a little extreme. It’s sometimes hard to say where an original character will end up when we sort them, so we’re not banning all Gryffindors – but please, no canons.
- Order of the Phoenix Members
We’d love to have more site-wide plots, but it’s a little difficult at the moment seeing as we have half the number of Death Eaters as we do Order Members.
- Sixth Years
The sixth years are currently taking over the school. You are free to make seventh years, fifth years, fourth years, etc., but until further notice, no sixth years will be accepted (canons included).
- Female Characters
We do have a rule that says if you create a girl character first, your next character must be male. Because the ratio was pretty even, we were lenient in allowing two girls in a row. Now, however, that rule is going to be enforced far more, and we have far more girls than boys, and need to balance that ratio out again. So, for the time being, we are not accepting any female characters, canon or original.
These bans are on both new characters, and on “bringing characters back”. We know how much you might miss that sixth-year-original-Gryffindor girl you created months ago and deleted, but now is not the best time to bring her back, unfortunately. We also realise this may put a damper in some of your plans for future characters, for which we apologise. However, these bans are not permanent. Once the ratio becomes more balanced again, they will be lifted. We hope this doesn’t upset anyone too much!
*if you have submitted an application for a character falling under the following categories before October 1, 2011, that character will still be sorted unless admins have already spoken to you.
