***I'll be getting rid of a charrie before the end of the summer, so this isn't the start of a 6-charrie rule
For anyone that doesn't know her that well, they're likely to get easily offended by the jokes that Jamie makes. Most of the time, she doesn't mean anything by it, she's just really really sarcastic. Although, if people really do get offended, she isn't likely to take it back just because she thinks they're too uptight, and therefore she doesn't really care if they get mad. The only people she'll really take anything back for are her friends, who usually understand her sarcasm, so that doesn't happen very often. When people do get offended or mad at her, Jamie is the first person to get defensive. Not only does she hate when people give her crap, but she hates being wrong. The only time she'll ever admit it is when there's some kind of solid proof proving that she is, but if there isn't, she'll come up with just about anything to make her seem right. She justifies her actions with any reasoning she can think of, if only because she doesn't want to look stupid in front of other people. No matter what the situation, Jamie can probably explain exactly why she did it in a way that makes her seem like the good guy, whether she is or not.
When presented with a situation, Jamie will come up with every single outcome in her mind, and if the good is outweighed by the bad, it'll take a lot of convincing for her to do it. Every detail, every angle is studied, trying to figure out the chances of something bad happening if she did it. Actually, if there's really any chance of her getting in trouble, she most likely won't do it. Going back to a detention center is really not high on the list of her favorite things. The only exception to this is stealing, which she still does on occasion, simply because she can't help it. When she sees something she really wants, sometimes the temptation and the knowledge of the thrill she'll get is too much. Whatever she does, she sees it from every possible angle to come up with the best possible outcome, even if it doesn't mean she might get in trouble. The way she looks at things makes it possible for her to perfect just about everything she does. While she's not obnoxious about it, Jamie likes things done right, and she'll work hard to make them that way. She can be a bit of a slacker, putting things off till last minute, but even if she procrastinates, she still does a good job on whatever it is she does. Most of the time.
Over the years, Jamie has found it hard to get close to people. It's hard finding good friends in a detention center, when most of the people inside would only befriend you if there was something in it for them. Because of this, Jamie distances herself from people emotionally, which not a lot of people catch onto. Because she doesn't want people asking about her personal life, she talks a lot about certain aspects of it, seeming to be an open book. But no matter how much people 'know' about her, they don't really 'know' her, mostly because she keeps the deepest parts of her completely under wraps. It's also hard for her to develop real relationships because she looks at things so scientifically. There are pro's and con's to every situation, to every person, and Jamie watches every move they make. Behavior, body language, tone of voice, everything gets computed in her mind to figure out whether they're good or bad news, and she acts on instinct based on the vibe she gets from people. Jamie almost always follows her instincts, and she's almost always right (which is another reason why it's hard to convince her she's wrong about something).
While some people would call Jamie a pessimist, she likes to view herself as more of a realist. She doesn't like to let herself get caught up in the romantic side of her, because she doesn't like her emotions meddling with what she knows is the probable outcome. If she looks at a situation from all sides, she can come up with a pretty good guess as to what's going to happen, and since the world is basically a bad place, most of the time the outcome is bad. It's not pessimism, it's just the truth. The inner struggle she has is constantly in motion, because as much as she looks at things that way, it's hard to be realistic when you're being swept off your feetby some guy with gorgeous brown eyes by some random guy that thinks you're pretty. Whenever someone reaches out to her like that, it's pretty much the only time that Jamie doesn't think clearly, mostly because all she really wants is for someone to want her back. So when emotions start flying, that's when all her well-calculated plans and intuition get thrown out the window. It's the only time when Jamie's scarred and broken heart truly softens, and she feels like she's at her weakest. When she feels that, for once, she's wanted in this world.

Name: Jamie Marie Palamino
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Year: 6th
Face Claim: Amy Smart
Canon or Original? Rig
Facial Properties: Jamie has almond shaped eyes, a little wider to fit her face. She has a square jawline that makes her forehead look a bit large, but for some reason her wide and slightly flat face still puts Jamie under the category of 'pretty'. She has naturally dark brown hair, but usually dyes it blonde, letting grow to her shoulders and a part straight down the middle. Her nose is slightly flat and wide, a look more widely seen in darker-skinned people, but it fits in well with her broad face. Jamie's bottom lip is much thicker than her top lip, but not enough for them to look unbalanced.
Physique: Jamie isn't particularly muscled, but she's always been thin. Over the years it's helped her to slip out of hard situations, her flexibility and small figure making it easier to get away from someone grabbing at her. She's average height, and there's nothing particularly notable about her. She's average size, a little on the skinny side but other than that, just sort of normal looking. Perfect for when she feels like being a bit mischievous. Easier to stay unnoticed by authorities when you have no striking features
Wand Type: Eleven inches, Willow
Wand Expertise: Transfiguration
Patronus: Lynx
Boggart: Box (claustrophobic)

History:
There wasn't even a note when Jamie Palamino was left on the steps of a run-down orphanage on Coventry Street, owned by what people had come to call the Davies House. No one knew where she had come from, so there was no question as to whether they would take her in or not. The tiny baby was nameless for a few weeks before the women that ran the orphanage came up with a name for her, and she was dubbed after the horses that the woman had helped raise with her father when she still lived in the country, before she started running the tiny orphanage in the city. The living space was small, and there were at least a dozen other children in the house, but as Jamie grew, she learned to love being so close to people. Being one of the younger girls, she would help the older ones with the cleaning, and take care of new little ones that would show up on the doorstep, just like she had. Some of the others came and went quickly, little babies snapped up by yearning mothers that couldn't have any of their own. For some reason, Jamie was never adopted, and so she spent her younger years watching her precious little ones being taken away to homes in the city. Every time a couple came to adopt, there was the hope that they might want a little blonde girl that looked a little older than she actually was, but every time they came, there was disappointment. Jamie would smile and wave at the babies as they left, but inside her heart broke every time she saw the backs of another couple as they walked away, leaving her behind in the tiny house on Coventry Street. Feeling much like an abandoned puppy, Jamie withdrew from the rest of the children, mostly keeping to herself. She would play when she was invited, and she had a good attitude for the most part, but in her heart all Jamie ever wanted to do was curl up in the corner with one of her books.
If there was one thing the house didn't lack, it was the shelves and shelves of books that Jamie craved in her spare time. Having a love of reading herself, the woman who ran the House (whom the children called Miss Davies) would pick up books every so often, sometimes even picking out books particularly for Jamie if she could find them. The ones that spoke of knights and magic, of damsels in distress and the ogres that captured her, locking her away so they could gaze upon her beauty, and the princes that always seemed to save the day. In her books, there was always a happy ending, everything always had its place, and somehow, things just seemed to work out the way she needed them to. They would take her outside of the dark, dirty streets of London and to faraway places she could dream about when she fell asleep, after she'd fallen asleep thinking about them. In her books, she could become another person, become a character in the story, and somehow feel more accepted there than in the Davies House, where she was rejected day after day, month after month by searching couples. It was the only way she could keep living without her heart breaking every day, knowing that at least, if she wasn't wanted in this world, she might be in another. Every birthday was somewhat bitter, the women at the orphanage wanting to celebrate another year, but Jamie just knew that every year made it more and more likely that she would be there forever. Adopting parents didn't want children. They wanted babies. They didn't want Jamie. No one did. To be frank, Jamie's life didn't change much over the next nine years. She continued to read, and keep to herself, content to ignore everyone else as best she could as they ignored her. She spoke when she was spoken to, never wanting to draw too much attention to herself. Her life followed the same bleak pattern it always seemed it would until exactly one week after her ninth birthday.
It was the day she met Jack Sparrow.
He intrigued her from the start, having always been taught that stealing was wrong, and that taking things that didn't belong to you was something that needed to be punished. Jamie spotted him on the other side of the street, having noticed him hanging around for a few days, and stood there watching as he easily slipped the wallet out of the back pocket of an older gentleman, who he so easily distracted with what seemed to be little effort. After the man walked away, the little boy looked pleased with himself, though any trace of the wallet he'd slipped was gone, Jamie could only assume somewhere hidden in his clothes. Walking fast, she headed him off, and ignored the surprised look on his face as she stared at him for a moment, looking him up and down and giving him a once-over. After a moment, he asked if she was lost, and flashed her a little smile, kind of crooked that showed off his perfectly straight teeth. Jamie took a liking to him instantly, liking the way his chocolate brown eyes seemed to hold any answer she was looking for. Straightening up, Jamie pointed out what she'd seen, and though the boy looked completely unphased by this, she spoke again before he had a chance to say anything, "I'm not going to call the cops or anything." Instead she merely chewed on her lower lip and rocked on the balls of her feet before whispering conspiratorially, "I wanna know how you do it."
It took a little persuading, but after bugging him a few times, Jamie finally got the boy (who she learned was named Jack) to teach her the trade of picking pockets. She'd follow him around the city, ignoring or deflecting questions about where she'd been when the women at the Davies House asked. Over the next few weeks, Jamie started picking up Jack's habits, learning how to watch people, how to read them, which ones would be better targets than others. Soon it became all to easy to be Jack's distraction, and Jamie wanted to start picking pockets on her own. Again, Jack was hesitant, until she waved the wallet he'd just stolen from an old man in his face, the one that had recently been residing in his pocket. Surprised, but smiling, Jack finally agreed, and they took to the streets in fine fashion. Instead of keeping the money she'd steal, Jamie gave most of it to Jack. Buying things would only make the Davies House women suspicious, and really Jamie was just doing it for the fun anyways. Bored of her constant rejection in the Davies House, she sought for some kind of excitement in her life, something that made her feel like one of the characters in her books, like the Artful Dodger, or even the rebellious Joan of Arc. It made her feel like she was more than a little girl reading books in the corner of a run down house in the middle of London. Just another unwanted child left at the Davies House on Coventry Street. Soon she was accompanying Jack every day, trolling the streets of London and even finding ways to make it more of a challenge for herself, completely enjoying the fact that she now had the one thing she'd always found herself becoming jealous that her favorite characters had.
She'd found herself a friend.
Immensely taken with Jack, Jamie spent as much time as she could with him, over the weeks and months hanging around him even when they weren't stealing. He was someone she could talk to that made her feel important, like she was more than just someone to call when one of the babies needed changing. So when Jack asked her to be his distraction one day, Jamie didn't hesitate. After all, without Jack, she'd be back to the shy girl in the corner of the room reading books. Jamie felt like she owed him everything, so a minor distraction wasn't that much to ask for. She never blamed him for running off when the policeman grabbed her arm. If anything, she only wished that she could have said goodbye. But somehow, the only friend she ever had in the world became just one more back to watch as he ran, though at least Jack looked over his shoulder with a pained expression as he did so. The police questioned her over and over again, trying to catch the boy she'd been with, but Jamie refused to cooperate, never once even considering putting the only friend she had in the world in jail. When they realized she really wasn't going to give him up, and Jamie didn't have any proper parents to be returned to, she was taken away to a children's detention facility in France, where she was 're-educated' about the rules of society. For two years she returned to keeping her head down, barely understanding anyone for the first few months, staring at her feet as she walked the halls and staying as far away from people as possible. There were kids in there much more experienced in the ways of the streets than herself, so drawing attention was the worst idea she could think of. It was there that Jamie learned to take care of herself, knowing when to stick up for herself so they didn't think you were weak, but also knowing when to keep her mouth shut. She had little victories here and there, stealing from the people that pissed her off, since her stealing had now become something of a habit. She'd always done it for fun, and in a place where you had to find ways to entertain yourself, the guards and the fear of getting caught had become just another challenge.
It was then that things stared...happening. Jamie would end up getting herself in trouble without even meaning to, especially when she got angry. At first she thought she might be going insane, when she'd watched one of the 'bullies' of the center giving one of the younger girls a hard time. Glaring at her, Jamie had crossed her arms and leaned hard into the fence behind her, only to fall straight through it and land hard on her butt on the dirt...on the wrong side of the fence. They didn't believe her when she said she had no idea how it had happened. Because of the incident, the authorities thought it best to place her in a sort of halfway house, taking her out of the center and into a place where she could be given more 'individual attention', which really just meant that she would be watched by one of her foster parents constantly. The house was nice enough, but Jamie still kept to herself, only showing her face around mealtime and when she asked them to pick up more books for her to read, all annoyingly in French. The day she got her letter to Beuxbaton's, Jamie was mostly excited to just get out of the house, and since it was a private school where she could be monitored by staff at all times, the authorities allowed her to go. Not only did her letter explain quite a bit about the strange occurrences at the detention center, but it returned to her that feeling of being more than a girl in the corner. For once, Jamie was going to be able to experience the magic she'd always dreamed of, because she could make it happen.
Jamie learned fast at Beuxbaton's, fascinated with magic, which had to a degree replaced her urge to steal. Instead of taking things, she'd become obsessed with magic, learning more about it as much as she possibly could, and doing her best to leave her days of stealing and thoughts of Jack in her past. After a few years, and after Jamie had gone back to her foster home for the summer, she was informed that she was now being transferred back to the orphanage she'd grown up in, back in London. Back to Jack. Terrified that she might somehow get seduced back into the life she'd grown so fond of as a child, Jamie moved back to the Davies Home, more than anything glad to get to Hogwarts, away from Jack, away from the city, and back to living her new life. At least she could sleep safely knowing that Jack wasn't at Hogwarts. Because really...
...what were the chances?
