Name: Arianna Delia Rose
Age: sixteen
Gender: female
Year: sixth
Face Claim: Vlada Roslyakova
Canon or Original? original
Facial Properties:you felt the coldness in my eyes
Ari has the eyes of a cat on the prowl. Slanted, letting you know that at any moment, she may explode. Their color a light, piercing aqua. However most people see beauty in these dangerous eyes, Arianna sees them as one of her flaws. One is just the slightest big higher up than the other. Not that it's noticeable to any other eye. Ari is simply over critical of herself. They rest just where they should, atop her pug-like nose. Ari applies just a tad extra make up over the right eye, the one just a millimeter lower, to make sure nobody would ever guess that it wasn't in sync with the left. As far as other eye makeup goes, Ari tries to keep it simple, to not appear standoffish (though, she does anyway). She gently lines them both, nothing too harsh, adds mascara, maybe some pastel colored eyeshadow on certain days, if she's feeling a little more enthusiastic. But for the most part, any eye makeup Ari so chooses to wear, always makes her look more sinister. Maybe it's a bit of her personality coming through, or maybe it's just genetics. Who really knows?can you picture this coming from my lips?
Arianna's bottom lip sticks out just far enough beyond the top to resemble a pout. Though she'd never actually resort to begging for things in that manner to get her way. She gets what she wants with other tactics. But I digress. Her lips are a strange, pinkish red, but she practically paints them bright pink or fire engine red with lipstick each morning. They're soft, and plump enough, however, just a tad bit thin for what Ari would like. But if we were to sit here all day listening to her list her own faults, we'd be here for a while. However again, I digress. Ari's lips are always smooth, and never chapped, not even in winter's cruel temperatures. A gene she got from her mother's side of the family, thankfully.style your hair in the bathroom light
One thing Arianna actually does like about herself, her one saving grace, is her hair. It's just long enough, reaching the center of her spine, and perfectly healthy. Little, to no split ends or damages, and it's nearly always soft and smooth. Its natural color is a dark, auburn brown. However, Arianna regularly lightens it to either a dusty, reddish brown, or sometimes even blonde. Whatever she's feeling that day. Same goes with its texture. One day, it will be pin straight, not a strand out of place. Others, perhaps wavy. Or if Arianna is having a very rambunctious, It will be crimped, and teased out a good three inches from her face. It sounds ridiculous, and would probably look ridiculous on nearly anyone else, but for some reason, Ari works it.
tears trickling down your nose
[/b]It's fascinating, I believe, that almost everyone's nose looks basically the same, but they all have little quirks and detours that make them different from that of the nose on the person next to you. Arianna's is narrow, and upturned at the end. And for what it's worth, though you can't really see it from the outside, Ari also has a deviated septum. Possibly why her voice is slightly higher pitched than it needs to be? Another happy little feature about Ari's nose. If you see her from the side, it literally looks like it belongs on someone else's face. It's a little longer than the rest of her facial features. A little too long, for her heart shaped face.
my head on your chest
[/b]As stated earlier, Arianna has a nice, rounded, heart shaped face. Included in this, is her small chin, that ends in a bit of a point. It frames all her features nicely, without making them look awkward, as they certainly would otherwise. Arianna is also one of those damn lucky girls who rarely have to worry about breakouts, and blackheads. However, she still views her pale skin as too oily, and like everything else about herself, not perfect enough. If such a pretty girl thinks she's so disgusting, imagine the way she feels about any freckles, and beauty marks she may posses. Luckily, in this case, we're only dealing with two. One on Ari's forehead, on the left side, which is nearly always hidden by hair, and the other, a tiny scar below the right side of her lips. Let's just say her father wasn't the nicest in town. We'll get to that later.
Physique:
she says she's eaten too much
[/b]Arianna will not eat. There's no real way to make that sound pretty, and there's no need to sugarcoat it anyway, because it's probably the first thing you'll notice when you see her. Her self image is too low to allow her the joys of food. Obviously, she'll allow herself a piece of fruit a day. Bread, if her stomach will permit. Just the necessities to stay alive. Arianna knows her habits are unhealthy, and are slowly killing her, but the desire to be perfect overpowers this for her. Her stomach is small, with every indentation of a rib showing through, threatening to burst at the seams. Naturally, this doesn't leave much room for much of a chest. Ari is verging on flat chested, but this somehow does not hinder her in getting guys. Her legs are like toothpicks coming out of her, too long for her body. They look almost mismatched. Same goes for her arms. Little twigs protruding out from their sockets. Another downfall. Ari's strict dieting habits provide for little energy. In fact, she nearly passed out from walking from one class to another in her fifth year. There's not much else you can say for Arianna's lanky physique.
Wand Type: eight and one fourth inches, Maple, Dragon Heartstring
Wand Expertise: perfect for hexes

Personality:
if you need a confession, i'm guilty
Arianna takes credit for the things she does. Being the great prankster that she is, she's not ever about to let anyone take credit for her creations. Arianna is never really loud, other than when she's standing up for something. Then, she always grows a voice. Opinionated is certainly an understatement when describing Ari. She'll bitch and grumble about things until they go her way, however, she'll only ever use her words to provide for these opinions. She's far from brave enough to actually literally fight for them. Not that she could last more than five or six seconds in a fight anyway. Needless to say, Arianna can have a quick tongue when she feels like it. However, on normal circumstances, she can keep it in. Like when dealing with feelings. That's one thing you'll never hear Ari talk about. Not her own feelings, and she tries to avoid listening to others' if at all possible. It sounds like a bitchy thing to do, but really, it's just because Arianna can't handle the feelings and problems of her peers, on top of her own. It's simply too much stress for her to handle.
then someone tells me how good I look, and for a moment, I find hope
Arianna thrives off the compliments of others. It's what gets her by in this world. She thinks nothing of herself, so she relies on her friends and peers to give her what happy thoughts she does possess. When people call her pretty, it's as if she's walking on air for a while. You could obviously say Ari is a very vain girl, but not vain in the sense that she enjoys looking at herself, or in the sense that she actually enjoys what she sees, but vain in the sense that you'll always catch her analyzing herself in a mirror, scrutinizing every last detail, or fussing over herself for hours at the beginning of each day. It takes a lot to actually make her feel good about herself, though she does accept compliments as if she believed them. Just to put on a good outer shell for the crowds. When Ari ever does accept the fact that maybe, just maybe, she isn't as disgusting as she makes herself out to be, it never lasts long. In fact, it last approximately as long as it takes her to see her reflection in the mirror. Arianna is shot down on the inside by her self esteem, or lack thereof, but you'd never know it. She acts like she couldn't be happier with the way she looks. Though you'd have to be daft to actually buy that facade. It's only too obvious that Ari isn't satisfied with herself.
i can't saw off these horns, and i can't learn to fly
[/b]To the public, to her peers, Ari seems like she's just your world class bitch. However, it's because she's the exact opposite that she appears this way. Confusing, no? Arianna doesn't like to share her feelings, for fear of bringing others down. It comes off to others that she simply thinks she's too good for them. That she doesn't need them. Ari isn't a bitch on purpose. She's actually got a good heart, with good intentions. Sometimes it all just comes across wrong. Her true friends understand this, and are able to see where she's coming from, when all most others see is "crazy". Now, that's a harsh word, but it's one that Ari unfortunately hears quite often. Mostly just as a joke. But sometimes, she can't help but take it seriously. She can't help but think too far into it. But again, I digress. Point being, Arianna can be accidentally bitchy, without even realizing it, but truly is a good person, with a good, loving heart.
we'll be just fine
[/b]The most shocking thing about Ari? She's a major optimist. Strange, isn't it? She certainly doesn't seem the type. For the most part, Arianna seems like the one who's always complaining about life having no meaning, about our existence being trivial and unimportant. But no. She's the one who contradicts that person, with nearly impossible amounts of optimism. "Life does have a meaning, you obviously just haven't found it yet. And for your sake, I truly hope you do." Ari pities pessimists. And that's saying something, seeing as pity is an emotion Ari would frown upon otherwise. However, people who thought they were here for no reason just never made sense to her, and for that, she felt sorry. Arianna will try to look for the positive side, the silver lining, in most all situations. If there isn't one, she'll make one up. Nothing will ever end badly, in Ari's mind.
bang, bang, take a shot
[/b]Another surprise, alcohol is probably Arianna's best friend. She's a pretty big party girl. Not usually for the socializing, but for the alcohol, and the flirting. When drunk, Ari can do some pretty crazy things. She seems to leave Ari behind and become someone totally new. There are different kinds of drunk. There's the obnoxious drunk that everyone hates, the awkward drunk that thinks they're cool, or, the actual cool drunk that everyone loves. Ari falls into that third category. People like her better drunk. She's much looser, and much more free. She doesn't worry about herself, and she just lets it all go. Of course, the downside being that alcohol is just empty calories. But there are some rules you just have to make exceptions too. Alcohol being one of them.
boys, boys, just your luck, i'm the one you're gonna....
[/b]Arianna isn't an alien, just like almost any other girl, she likes boys. A lot. She's a pretty big flirt, but she knows which guys are and aren't worth her time. There are a few that just repulse her with their lack of sense. Ari doesn't like guys who play dumb, or for that matter, don't have to play. Stupidity is unattractive to her. A major turn-off. Among the others being bad smell, arrogance, ignorance, and while it may sound shallow, Arianna likes attractive men, who take care of themselves. Maturity is a plus. But this isn't an online dating add, the point of this being, Ari likes boys, but has a picky taste. She isn't "easy", or a whore, by any means, anyone who says so must not know her very well, but if she feels she really does like someone, she isn't afraid to do what she pleases with them.
cut the line to make me feel alive
[/b]Self mutilation, and other self injurious behaviors are mixed into the jumble that is Arianna's life. It isn't a major problem, but is something she struggles with that is worth mentioning. It comes from the self-hate, and the lack of self esteem. It's not something most people, save a few of her extremely close friends, know about. She hides this well, and if anyone ever asks her what happened, she'll simply tell them one of her spells went wrong. It's not something she truly accepts of herself, but then again, what does she accept about herself? Ari has tried to stop, but once it became a habit, there wasn't much she could do. There isn't even any reason behind it for Ari anymore. Just habit. Just ritual.

History:
Mother: Andreea Fox-Rose
Father: Costel Rose
DOB: February ninth
Birthplace: Tulcea, Romania
Blood: Pure
it's a nice day for a white wedding
Andreea Fox was a journalist, a kind hearted woman, who worked hard at what she did. It just so happened, she married an asshole. Andreea met Costel through a mutual friend, who knew that both Costel and Andreea were looking for a significant other. Not to say that either was particularly lonely, just..alone. Yes, there is a distinctive difference between the two. At the time, Costel seemed like a decent man. Kind, and seemingly caring. Of course, they didn't just up and get hitched right that second. Andreea and Costel took a good year or so to get to know each other better, much to Costel's dismay. Andreea liked to take things slow. Liked to make sure they were perfect. Costel on the other hand, preferred things to move fast. At his pace. However, for Andreea, he changed his game. He truly did seem like a good man. However, this would soon change. But until it did, Andreea remained truly in love with Costel.
when a mommy and a daddy love each other..
[/b]Andreea had known since she was a teenager that she wanted children when she grew up. It had always been a dream of hers, to be able to love, and care for something so fiercely. That, and the fact that she wanted to be a good mother, as hers never was. She wanted to give a child a wonderful life, and to be told she was loved. Costel, on the other hand, wasn't quite as enthusiastic about this. It wasn't that he didn't want kids, it was simply that he didn't have quite as much of a passion for them as Andreea did. But he went along, just to make her happy. Andreea's dream was to have three children. It was what she wanted more than anything in the world. Preferably, two boys, and a little girl. But that was getting a little too specific. Save the gory details, Andreea got pregnant. We all know how that works. Nine months of more gory details later, she miscarried. Andreea was more than devastated. She wouldn't get out of bed for the next two weeks. She had already loved that child, already grown attached to it. And now it was gone. The second pregnancy, the same thing happened. As with the third. With each miscarriage, Andreea grew hopeless. She was ready to give up. "Let's try, one more time." Costel whispered in her ear one night. Seeing his wife in this much emotional pain was wrenching at his heart. And that was saying something. Andreea complied. And thank Merlin she did. This one time, as if by magic (no pun intended), Andreea gave birth to her happy, healthy baby. Arianna Delia Rose. Andreea didn't want to risk anymore hurt, Arianna was to be an only child. But her mother was okay with this, so long as she had her one beautiful baby girl.
no plans for mother's day
[/b]Just a year after Arianna's birth, Andreea passed away in a horrid fire at her work building. She wasn't the only one that died, four other witches also lost their lives that day. Arianna was too young to truly get it. All she knew was that her mother was never around anymore. She wailed when she wanted to be held, but nobody picked her up. She bawled when she was hungry, but she only got fed when her father ate. Costel took care of her, but only as little as he had to. He didn't go above and beyond, like Andreea did. Arianna missed that. She wasn't old enough to understand what she had lost, but she knew it was something important. As she got older, she began to notice more and more. She would see other girls with their mothers when going into town with her father. Eventually, she learned to to miss her mother. She learned about death at an early age, and understood it just too well. Costel didn't like dealing with Arianna any more than he did before, especially with the mourning of his wife. He grew almost tired of his daughter. No matter how hard Arianna tried to reach out to him, he wouldn't take the bite. And though she was young (six, to be exact), Arianna still vaguely knew what was going on.
hey dad, do you like violence?
[/b]About a year later, age seven, Costel had basically lost interest. If Arianna wanted something, she got it herself. She needed food? She got it herself. Ari knew better than to even ask. Fast forward a year. Age eight. Costel became abusive. Arianna was nothing more than a hassle to him now. Anything to do with her would just set him off. He would pretend, for the masses, that he truly did love his daughter. If Ari ever bruised, she could cover it up. Nobody ever suspected anything, and nobody ever asked questions. This would continue to go on through Arianna's life, getting increasingly worse. It could be that this is the cause of the nasty self hate Ari experiences. She doesn't try to get help, seeing as now she only has to deal with it over the summers. Not that that makes it okay, or more bearable, but Ari could just never bring herself to get the help she deserved.
do you believe in magic?
[/b]Fast forward three more years of abuse. And possibly, to the single most happiness moment of Arianna's life. Her acceptance letter to Hogwarts. Which meant she was away from her father that much more. It meant she only had to deal with him over the summers. It meant that she was free. It meant she could have a life now. A life away from being hit. A life away from bruises, and violence. Costel was "happy" about this too. It wasn't that he hated his daughter, it was that the stress was just too much for him to handle, and he had a simply short fuse. Now, all that was leaving. No more little girl running around for him to deal with, to try and force to eat. Life would be good. Very good. Better off for both Ari and Costel. The trip to London was a long one. A long, and to say the very least, awkward one. Neither said a word to the other. When they arrived at the station, Costel gave his daughter one awkward hug. It was strange, to receive a hug from this man, who might as well have been a stranger to Arianna. But it was off to Hogwarts for her. She couldn't help but being happy. No matter what was going on at home.
