OOC: Heh, oh yes! I felt bad writing it, but thinking Kalib would do anything different was absurd. Tis fun; Amberlea’s a challenge for him, and well, personally I think a dose of realty is just what this boy needs. He’s ego is getting too big. XD
Whatever he had expected from her, surrender – alright, well, partial surrender – wasn’t it. He was in fact amazed she’d finally given up trying to act like she didn’t care about him in slightest. Kalib knew it wasn’t anything more then friendly terms he was working with, but just the fact that she might try and help by being lenient was a nice perk. Obviously he had as least made a nice dent in her wall of defenses. “Fine.” Kalib grinned, happy for the improvement. “That’s all I ask. Trust me, I might gamble on occasion but I know where the lines are drawn – I’ve accidentally tripped over them; how else would I know how to avoid them?” Perhaps he was a bit annoyed still, but humor was always a good way to pry himself out of it. Now that Amberlea had committed to being nicer, he couldn’t very well turn around and treat her like dirt – that wasn’t exactly fair, and he knew he’d never hear the end of it either.
Kalib let out something of a relieved sigh once she started walking again, falling into step behind her. Shoving his hands into his pockets, he made due with watching the ground as she practically danced in front of him. Girls were so strange sometimes – maybe that’s what they meant when they had their “mood swings”? Only a second ago they’d scarcely been controlling the urge to strangle one another and now she was bouncing along down the path with him only a few feet off, and everything was okay? Kalib had thought he knew the basics of understanding girls, but everything he’d thus far gathered and proven true, Amberlea was smashing to pieces. None of his “girl logic” seemed to work, and she never responded like he’d guess she would. It was always something different; maybe that was the result of not being too friendly with her own gender. He hadn’t really noticed it, but he was staring at the ground with more intensity, trying to rework things. Truthfully, he hadn’t even noticed how silent it had gotten between them until Amberlea spoke up: “Oh, c’mon Kalib, do lighten up. It’s not the end of the world when you discover not every girl’s in love with you.” Now that caught his attention.
Looking up, he raised one eyebrow in curiosity. “That’s what you think then, is it?” he confirmed, smiling slightly both in pleasure and confusion. Amberlea looked like a little girl frolicking in the leaves for the first time, her smile one he’d never seen there before. He wanted to be happy about that, but he was unsure what was making her smile so – the fresh air, or his presence. He’d never had to compete with nature before, and well, thinking he needed to now was an awkward thought indeed. “Well Ms. Silverstone,” he continued formally, a professor-ish expression on his face, “I’ll have you know there’s a significantly large difference between having every girl be in love with me, and having every girl admit to being in love with me.” It was hard to keep the smugness of his smirking lips, and he knew he didn’t succeed fully but the fact that he was at least making an effort should be valued enough. “Give it time; we might not ever be a couple, nor would we make the best one out there, but after a while you’ll realize you like my company. You’ll love having me around; maybe not in love, but love all the same.” He couldn’t stay mad at her when she smiled like that; laughing right along with her was just so much easier.
OOC: Woo! Page two!

When Amberlea glanced back at Kalib, he seemed to be deep in thought, staring at the ground. Amberlea wondered what on earth he was thinking, but whatever it was, it was quite intense, for he looked almost shocked when she did speak to him. “That’s what you then, is it?” Amberlea grinned back at his confusion, flicking her hair out of her face (a gesture she seemed to be doing a lot). “Give it time; we might not ever be a couple, nor would we make the best one out there, but after a while you’ll realize you like my company. You’ll love having me around; maybe not in love, but love all the same.” Amberlea laughed at that, sticking her tongue out at him slightly. She hadn't a clue when she had made the transformation to a playful little school girl, but all she knew was the fresh air was making her giddy.
"You can keep so sure of yourself, Kalib. I'll forgive ya on that one." She winked, teasing him still. She was quite enjoying this friendly banter actually, now that she had let herself lighten up a little, though she'd never admit it. This was a side of herself that very few people got to experience. Hell, not even most of the guys she dated got to see it. And though she had lightened up a lot, there was still a long way to go. She still carried herself with the arrogance that she was renowned for, even if her step was a bit lighter. She didn't exactly try to act superior, it was just natural for her.
As they approached Hogsmeade, Amber could see though there were a few people, it wasn't exactly crowded. Still, Amberlea kept an eye out for someone who might know them, someone from the school. Despite the fact that it was small, and quaint, Amber liked the atmosphere about Hogwarts. She felt a delicious shiver go through her, and threw a glance back at Kalib.
"So, what exactly are your plans?" She asked him, raising an eyebrow. She started walking slightly sideways then, tilting her body towards him, so she could keep him in her view whilst they spoke. Regardless, even with this gesture, she was still able to walk proud, with a swing in her hips and a spring in her step. Grace was a part of her as well, it was a very rare moment anyone would catch her tripping up over herself, or looking anything less than elegant. She felt that she wanted to loosen up a little, hell, it had been forever since she had a drinking buddy. Nothing like drunken ramblings to brighten your day. "What do you say we have a drink...or two?"
Her eyes glinted wickedly at this thought. This could be fun...
OOC: Whatever ya do, don't feel bad for writing it! It makes him him, and I wouldn't have it any differently. I'm nowhere near the bitch Amberlea can be, and I hope people realise that. LOL.

“Alright,” he said in an “I-give-up” sort of tone, “Who are you and what have you done with Amberlea?” Kalib was more then willing to welcome the sudden change in behavior, but for the first time ever he actually believed he was having difficultly keeping up with a girl. At least, as far as he could recall. They’d always been so easy, simple to read and even easier to let them hear what they wanted to hear, get what they wanted from him and in return, get from them what he wanted. Now all of the sudden it wasn’t so simple and that in itself was frustrating – he was not about to admit in thinking he might have actually found his match nonetheless say it aloud. “Pretty soon you’ll be dressed in yellow robes and dancing about the school singing at the top of your lungs,” he chuckled, smirking lightly. What was left of his bad mood seemed to dissolve, her buoyant humor rubbing off on him. It was hard to try and sulk when you had someone as beautiful as her strolling up in front of you with a big smile planted on her lips.
Kalib went back to his thinking, but much more aware of Amberlea this time. He didn’t glare so hard at the ground, or let his brow be furrowed. On the contrary, he walked a little straighter with a tiny grin on his lips. The only thing he could compare her to was a child on her first Christmas Eve, or someone who’s just won the Triwizard Tournament he supposed. He’d had dreams of holding that trophy someday, but from what he’d heard the events was currently banned… Without real interest, he glanced around his surroundings, few people actually bustling around but enough to signal the entering of Hogsmeade. So far they’d been lucky, no one of relevance passing by. It’d be just their luck to be enjoying a fine day and wind up in a pub with a professor a few seats off. Yeah, that’d go over well. Kalib started mulling over what exactly to do now that they were here, Amberlea echoing his thoughts: “So, what exactly are your plans?” Kalib shrugged indifferently, “Just making it up as I go. Schedules are overrated; so are rules for that matter…” He chuckled under his breath, wondering how on earth a teacher’s son could have ever turned out this way.
He’d just about made up his mind to ask if she had anything in mind, and “What do you say we have a drink…or two.” Immediately his face lit up – his mother would have smacked him right upside the head had he reacted that way if she had asked that question, but it was Amberlea and well, he really hadn’t had a good drink in a while… “I like the way you think,” he complimented with a polite nod – the devilish little smirk was quite the contrast. And it wasn’t just the offer of drinks either; she’d found a new little bounce in her step and well – could you blame a guy for looking? Yeah, a good drink or two was promising. After a few larger strides he caught up and offered his arm to her, “Come on, let us not waste anymore time. I promise I won’t bite,” he added with a wink, nodding ever so slightly to his outstretched arm, “hard.”
OOC: Always nice to have permission to be a little sassy, no? *Laughs* I think that’s why I love RPing so much, you know? It gives you a chance to be someone else, act a different way. Kalib is like the complete opposite to Bella, and Vas somewhere in between, so it’s fun hopping around. ^^

“Who are you and what have you done with Amberlea?”
Amberlea sighed, almost acting exasperated for a minute. She rolled her eyes, tossing her dark hair out of her face yet again. Bad habit that one, she should just tie it back. But in a way, it was a security gesture that she performed. Allowing herself to fix her hair all the time meant that if she was unsure, she could perform that one action, and it was almost as if it gave her confidence. Amber was aware how silly that seemed, and almost wished she hadn't discovered that about herself. There was no way she could ever let anyone in on that little secret about herself. Anyway, she was determined to lighten up for at least one day, and play along with everything. It just felt...right for once. She wished though that Kalib wouldn't get used to it. She wasn't normally like this, and tomorrow no doubt she'd be back to her usual sullen self. She didn't want to dwell on that for the moment, she was just happy to be happy for once.
Amberlea saw the change in Kalib however, her good mood must be infectious, she thought. She allowed a tiny smile of satisfaction play on her lips. She loved being able to affect the moods of others. She didn't know why, but she felt it gave her a sense of control over the person. Usually she played guys like a puppet, so this feeling couldn't completely be wiped, even if Kalib was only being a friend-for-the-day. In return, she fed off his mood, adding to her own if that was possible. Amberlea hadn't even been aware she could do nice. But, there was a first time for everything.
At the suggestion of a couple of drinks, Amberlea watched Kalib with a smug satisfaction as his face immediately brightened. Yes...that idea would get any guy interested. However, Kalib had to be aware that Amberlea wasn't the most easily won over...and being inhibited by drinks didn't help things, aside from making her tongue easier. In fact, Amberlea could almost get...violent when she had been drinking. As long as Kalib behaved, and no one else decided to bitch at her, things should be ok. Regardless, it could still be an interesting task, especially if they got caught. That made the thrill of doing something out of the rules even more exciting.
So when Kalib offered his arm, she actually accepted it, falling into step beside him, with a triumphant smirk on her face. Oh, wouldn't his pretty little play toy like to see him now. She could imagine the look on her face now. Amberlea wasn't quite sure if she'd actually met his girlfriend yet, but she'd certainly heard about her through the gossip vines (where else would she have heard it? It's not like she actually made the effort to socialise...).
“Come on, let us not waste anymore time. I promise I won’t bite...hard.”
Amberlea giggled at the thought, flipping her hair back behind her ear, almost seeming like she was flirting with him.
"I haven't had much to drink for ages, this should be fun!"

A small chuckled rumbled in the back of his throat, happy to see she might give into temptation just once. It was probably – no, it was most certainly awful he didn’t regret having someone other then Mariella looped around his arm. What’s worse was that it actually felt nice. You’re going to the dogs, he thought without the least bit remorse. She’s gunna kill you if she finds out. In the past week alone he’d slowly fallen back into his bad habits: flirting with other girls, spending time alone with them, laughing and joking in crude humor those same girls wouldn’t appreciate. Yeah, he was definitely a dog.
“I haven’t had much to drink for ages, this should be fun!” Kalib was almost surprised when she laugh, the sound unfamiliar but pleasant all the same. She had certainly lightened up, that was for sure. Maybe today wouldn’t be in complete vain – if he even managed to just set the bases of a friendship he’d be happy enough with that. But part of him, the side that wasn’t always the most agreeable, it argued how she was acting now would be a long time before he ever saw again. Truthfully, he’d never seen her quiet as open as she was now. Maybe not vulnerable, not yet, but open. And he knew it wouldn’t last forever either. Come tomorrow he might have to start from scratch, which was frustrating, but he wouldn’t let her forget whatever she was feeling now. He just had to mark a mark, a dent in her shield of intensity – she’d realize she missed him company sooner or later. “The price of living in a school,” Kalib agreed with a grin, nodding. “Time to make up for lost time.”
It wasn’t very long before they were in the busier part of Hogsmeade, even on an off day the streets becoming denser with people. Because of the increase of surrounding pedestrians, there was that excuse to dodge an on comer by closing the gap between himself and Amberlea. As far as Kalib was concerned, that was completely legal – then again, if the basic rules didn’t apply to her what’s to say he wasn’t looking for trouble? “Did you have a place in mind?” he asked casually – really there were only two good options: the Three Broomsticks and the Hog’s Head; the rest of the pubs around Hogsmeade didn’t serve anything much better then ice water.

Amberlea was actually wondering if she was starting to enjoy this pleasant exchange of teasing niceties. She couldn't help herself, for once she actually felt herself honestly warming up for someone. She didn't care if it wouldn't last, and no doubt after a couple of drinks she'd further unfreeze. She wondered what Kalib was thinking about all this, and whether he was aware that tomorrow it would be back to the same old routine. Maybe he wouldn't have to work as hard as before, but it was going to be a long time off before she was fully on friendly trusting terms with him. It wasn't anything against him, it's just the way she was, particularly with the opposite sex. Meaningless sex, yea, she could do that. Friendships were a bit more tricky as it involved her actually opening up to someone.
Kalib looked almost surprised at her jovial mood, which wasn't a wonder. She had surprised herself. When he mentioned about making up for lost time, she had to more than agree with him. School could be so strict and boring sometimes that she wondered why she even bothered to turn up to class in the first place, when she could skip and do things like drinking at Hogsmeade. Regardless, this certain disregard for the rules was making her giddy, she felt a rush she hadn't felt for a long time (man, had she been that much of a goody good lately?). She had to admit the company at this present time wasn't too bad either.
Kalib scooted closer, whether as an excuse to be closer to her, or whether just to avoid the oncoming traffic, it wasn't clear. Naturally, Amberlea also side stepped, to keep the distance between them. She also didn't think twice about what he'd done and what she had instinctively done in return.
“Did you have a place in mind?”
Amberlea shook her head, smirking up at him. "As long as it's alcoholic, I'll leave the decisions up to you," she said, patting his arm warmly. Today was his day of decisions, and she couldn't be bothered coming up with what she wanted to do, or where she wanted to go today. So she decided to leave the decisions to him, as he had stated that whatever was happening was a surprise today. She was just more than content to follow.

The longer he thought about it, the more he realized he really had been playing the perfect gentleman a little too long. It was sort of like a strict rule he had over himself: play nice for a little while, and then go ahead and get dirty. If his memory was correct, which, let’s face it, most of the time it was, the last time Kalib had set out for the sole purpose of having a good time was back before he’d actually been dating Mariella. It seemed such a long time ago, although in all reality it had probably just hit the month marker. Yup, definitely a long time – for him at least.
A small twinge of regret actually managed to pick as his hard composure, remember that time a little too clearer – when he’d agreed to meeting Mariella at the Three Broomsticks, their first date of sorts. Strictly looking at their relationship, it had been a grand idea to say yes; looking at it from the end that which Anette was tied to…not so great. Kalib glanced over at Amberlea, almost feeling concerned, but quickly got over the feelings just with her smile. She certainly did look cheerful – something that didn’t come about very often, at least not when he was around. Might as well make the best of it.
“As long as it’s alcoholic, I’ll leave the decisions up to you.” A small grin lifted his lips. “What else?” he joked at thought that were the only drink in Hogsmeade. In a split second decision, he deiced the Hogs Head would better serve their purposes. Besides, it was more likely they could sneak a little extra alcohol in their beverages form their, instead of the Three Broom Sticks. They tended to stick to their rules too much for Kalib’s liking. Taking the appropriate turn, they walked along the street as the crowds began to disperse – obviously not the favor end of town. Perfect.
