Regulus nodded unconsciously before what Ravenna said hit him. Regulus had no idea Ravenna's father was dead, but the again he new very little about anyone's family. Regulus wondered if this was an open invitation to ask question or merely a slip of the tongue. More likely the second as there entire conversation seemed to be based on things that neither really wanted to say.
But not wanting to seem rude Regulus should at least acknowledge he had heard what she said and sympathized with her loss. "Was it recent?" He asked turning his gaze back to her. He assumed it would have been, but perhaps not. Regulus also wondered how close Ravenna was to her father. Apparently close enough for her to dream about him. Unless she hadn't so much been dreaming about him as him sneaking into her dreams.
'That would explain why he was cold,' Regulus thought now going in reverse to put the pieces together. He should have caught on sooner, but even if he had what could he have said. 'Hey Ravenna is your father dead by any chance?' even now knowing what the answer was it would have been an awkward way to attempt conversation.
