{ A B O U T . T H E . C H A R A C T E R } Name: Lucille Emma Murphy Age: Seventeen Gender: Female Year: Sixth Face Claim: Evangeline Lilly
Canon or Original? Original
Facial Properties: Lucy's hair is a dark shade of brown, although it looks almost auburn when the sunlight hits it. Long, it falls just a bit past the bottom of her shoulder blades, and considerably longer when she straightens it. Her hair is naturally wavy and quite thick, causing a few problems when she tries to tame it. Typically she doesn't do much to it - honestly, Lucy is a lazy lump in regards to her physical appearance and doesn't mind going to class with bed hair. If she's really feeling fancy, she might braid it. The same goes for any makeup; generally she'll throw on a bit of mascara and highlighter under her brows, maybe a bit of brow powder to fill them in, but other than that, she doesn't spend much time in front of the mirror. Her eyes are seafoam green in color, with tints of gold and bronze here and there within the iris. Her nose has a thin bridge and a slightly pointed tip, with freckles all across it and onto her cheeks. Her lips are full and curl up into a particularly sweet smile, complete with dimples. Lucy's skin is naturally olive-tinted, and she tans naturally in the summer months. Physique: Although she's short - standing only at 5'3" - it's quite obvious Lucy is an athlete. Her legs are thick with muscle, thighs especially. Her torso is rather boxy and quite lacking in any womanly curves - if anything, the indents on her hips seem to be more manly. Lucy's chest is small, something she's always found to be irritating, but she makes up for it by wearing good underroos that... well, you know, lift and separate. A beater, Lucy's arms are strong and quite well defined, especially for a girl. Her behind, just like the rest of her, is muscular - therefore quite round. Being of average height and weight, Lucy is rather healthy. She's always been a good eater, and she insists on getting physical activity rather often to maintain her sanity. Although she knows maybe she could lose a few pounds, she's rather content with the way she looks.
Wand Type: Ivy, 9 2/3 inches, Unicorn hair Wand Expertise: Defense Against the Dark Arts Patronus: Desert Cottontail Rabbit. Boggart: Being forced to watch the people she loves dying and not being able to do anything about it. Personality: Lucy Murphy is, to put it quite simply, a bold girl. Never, ever has she been shy - ever since she started talking, her parents knew she would be a pain in their behinds. It became evident at a young age that she was going to be a bit of a problem child, pulling pranks on her siblings, always causing a ruckus at the family get togethers... she never did grow out of that. In fact, her tendency to stumble into - well, create trouble was only heightened when she met her partners-in-crime, Alice Prewett and May Bell, and then got even worse when she became well-acquainted with the Marauders. She's creative and sneaky. Good for most people, she generally doesn't target the innocent - mostly people who've pissed her off, whether directly or indirectly. A prideful girl, she never turns down a challenge, often finding herself in less than ideal situations - she always finds a way out, though, whether that be by lying, manipulating, or just some quick-thinking and spell-casting. Although Lucy is a very smart girl, not all of her plans are foolproof - foolhardy, yes, but not foolproof. People have labelled her everything from spontaneous to reckless to down-right irresponsible - but what's the point of living if you're not gonna have a little fun, anyway? Like any teenage girl, though, she does have her insecurities: her very personality itself, oddly enough... or maybe not. She knows she's smart. She knows she's funny. She knows she's pretty damn adorable. But sometimes she has serious issues understanding how or why anyone would want to be her friend.
One of the things Lucy's known for is her sense of humor. Some people probably find it to be god awfully irritating, and others probably appreciate it more, but she doesn't go out of her way to hide it for anyone. She's vulgar, if we're going to be honest. Crass. The thing about Lucy is that most of the time, she really doesn't give a shit what people think of her. She has no shame. She doesn't believe in taboo topics, and more often that not, actually eggs people on into talking about things like that. She gets pretty creative whenever she swears, and half the crap that comes out of her mouth doesn't even make sense, but if you get her riled up enough that she's smashing cuss words together, don't expect her to be too eloquent. She isn't shy around anyone, and if she has something to say, she doesn't hold back, even if she knows it could get her in trouble. She's argumentative and holds very strong opinions about certain matters, and will try her hardest to convince people otherwise if they seem to have questionable morals. She isn't necessarily a close-minded asshole, she just really takes issue with rich douchebags thinking it's okay to kill people because of their bloodlines. And, you know, of course she's gonna fight about it.
Stubborn and competitive, Lucy never looks at something and sees the impossible. She's an extremely hard-working girl, surprisingly; it may not seem like it all the time, but she's a rather dedicated student. It's about half-and-half for her, the balance between raw talent and actual serious studying, but she's worked it out pretty well over the years, the subjects she needs to spend more time in and the subjects that come easier for her. Since her third year, Lucy has known she's wanted to work at the Ministry of Magic, and she knows she needs to be an impressive student to get there, and once Lucy sets her mind to something? She doesn't give up. She babbles about it all the time, just to push herself harder; the thought of being a disappointment to all of those people makes her sick to her stomach. Her hard-work has paid off well, as she rarely gets grades below an EE. Not only is she competitive in her academics, but she's competitive in sports as well; Quidditch is a sport she's been playing for years. She's obsessed and enamored with the idea of playing for the Irish National Quidditch Team when she's older - of course, she knows if she wants to do that, she'll have to get on a team like the Montrose Magpies - her favorite in the league. Of course, she knows if she wants to be successful in the Ministry, she can't juggle something like Quidditch on the side... decisions, decisions.
If you want a loyal friend, look no further than Lucy Murphy. This girl will do anything for you once you're on her good side. She will cuddle you and love you and bake for you and compliment you and take you on adventures and help you with homework and listen to you and hurt anyone who hurts you. Unless you don't want any of those things, of course. Then she wouldn't. Of course. This girl has a lot of friends, but would only consider a few of them her very best - Wendy, Will, Alice, and Sirius to be precise - it's been that way for a while now, and she doesn't plan on that changing any time soon. She's extremely protective of the people she loves, and her natural reaction whenever anyone is being mean to them is to either beat them up or verbally abuse them. Her friends have learned well they need to calm her down so she doesn't do that, but it has happened before that she loses it and nobody ever wants to piss off a little Gryffindor with a beater's arm, do they?
Lucy's combination of inquisitiveness, pride, and overall fascination with other people have caused her to be a bit of a lying manipulator, if I'm going to be honest here. Granted, she doesn't pull this number on everyone - actually, it's nearly exclusively used on people she's getting to know. Whether she'd like to admit it or not, Lucy just loves knowing about other people's lives and how their brains work. That's not to say that her friendships revolve around her selfish interest in the more scandalous aspects of people's personal business, but... she would be lying if she said she wasn't curious. The lying manipulator part comes into play when she runs into someone she really can't make sense of, and, as some sort of defense mechanism, instead of being straightforward and asking whatever she wants to know, she beats around the bush, easing her way into certain topics and hoping the person she's talking to will open up about it themselves without feeling like Lucy was the one being nosy. Sometimes she'll hear rumors and go after the perpetrator themselves, asking questions she probably already knows the answer to, but she just wants to hear about it face-to-face. She's also the type to see someone she's interested in and make up some random excuse to talk to them, whether that be intentionally crashing into them in the hallway or asking to borrow a quill, even if she has one in her bookbag and she knows it. Once she feels comfortable enough with people, she'll start acting a bit more normal - although what's normal for Lucy may not exactly be normal for the rest of the world.
Flirty. ...Unintentionally, most of the time. She ends up flirting with about 90% of the men she comes into contact with. Actually, 90% of the women, too. No, her ridiculous personality doesn't discriminate. She's just a really charming person all together - her awkwardness and unforgiving nature teamed up beautifully to create this clusterfuck of sweet, funny, feisty, and genuine traits that have a tendency to draw people in. It probably doesn't help that she walks around commenting loudly on the people's physical traits - but it's not her fault she just wants everyone to know they're beautiful, ok?! Ok. Cuddly and affectionate, it's rare to see her not touching someone, whether it just be holding hands, or intertwining arms, or hugging someone - although she does ask people before she does so if they're okay with physical contact, because she really hates to rub people the wrong way. ...At least, the people she actually likes enough to hug. People who are more familiar with her personality probably don't interpret her absurdities as her flirting with them, because it's just the way she is, but she does tone it down around new friends... or she just blatantly warns them immediately upon meeting that she's insane, and not to look into what she says much.
Lucy Murphy is, all together, an enigma. She's a massive contradiction. She says the dirtiest of things, but, to be honest, she's a bit of a prude. She's a firm believer that everyone should just chill the heck out and go with the flow, yet she goes out of her way to create some sort of chaos whenever she gets bored. But she actually doesn't believe in getting bored, she just hates sitting around with nothing to do. She's a hopeless romantic, but she would deny every single accusation of that vehemently only before sulking off to a corner to daydream - and then slap herself out of it, once she realized what she was doing. She has too much pride, but humbles herself right back down by being so honest and shameless it could make some people cringe. She's a liar with trust issues. She's got a self-depreciating sense of humor but a strong aura of confidence. It's difficult to tell whether she's brave or reckless, she's independent but she's needy, she's opinionated but she's open-minded, she's an opportunist, realist, and dreamer all rolled up into one. One of the only sure things you could say about Lucy Murphy is that she's a pain in the ass. But she's pretty hard not to love.

History: Colleen Regan and Liam Murphy were, honestly, kind of meant to be. Growing up in the same small wizarding community in eastern Ireland, the two young purebloods spent a great amount of their time teasing each other, daring each other, challenging each other and poking fun at each other. In fact, most of their childhood was spent getting into trouble together; one time their parents (who were close friends) even put a ban on them seeing each other for a week. Couldn't have that, of course - Liam tried sneaking out his bedroom window in the middle of the night, but ended up falling as he scaled down the walls and broke an arm. As expected, their letters to Hogwarts arrived and they found themselves at school. Colleen, the oldest of six, didn't know what to expect - but Liam told her everything he knew that he had heard from his five older siblings who had already attended. Hogwarts was a rather complicated time for the pair; he was sorted into Ravenclaw, while she was a Gryffindor. In their second year she admitted to having a crush on him and kissed him - something he didn't react positively to. Prideful, she took offense, and she pushed him away even further than he ran, keeping a distance. In their third years they both landed spots on their respective Quidditch teams, heightening the animosity. She was a beater and he was a chaser, and Colleen maybe got a bit too violent with her bat. Fourth year, they came to some sort of agreement that they could be try to be friends, which went well. Fifth year they spent a great amount of time together, until she got a boyfriend. At this point Liam actually liked her, and had been preparing to ask her to the Yule Ball - alas, he was too late. Colleen dated the boy well into the summer and even into the beginning of their sixth year, until he cheated on her. Their friendship rekindled and in the summer before their seventh year, the pair started dating. And that was that.
He asked her to marry him after a year and a half and shortly after they said their vows, the pair moved into the basement of Colleen's parents' house. It wasn't exactly the ideal situation, but no one in the family saw much sense in the pair moving into a small apartment they wouldn't be able to afford in the first place. Liam needed to get his feet off the ground at the Ministry, and Colleen was working as a curse breaker. The only downside was that Colleen's parents had relocated to a wizarding community within Budapest, Hungary - of course, they had plenty of easy options to get to see their loved ones and friends, but it required quite the, ah, adjustment. Colleen and Liam grew to love it there, though, and stayed for six years. Four of those years, luckily, were spent living in a small apartment they found and count afford, rather than their parents' basement. Charlie (nine years Lucy's senior) was born a short ten months after the wedding, followed by the twins, Maggie and Marcus (eight years Lucy's senior), and Siobhan (six years Lucy's senior). When Deirdre (four years Lucy's senior) was still a baby, the family moved to Glendalough, Ireland, finally able to afford a big house of their own after multiple promotions and late nights for Liam at the Ministry. Lucy was born four years after Deirdre, shortly followed by Owen (one year younger), Clare, (three years younger), Fionn (five years younger), and Conor (seven years younger).
Even though most of the year, a handful of the kids were out of the house, life in the Murphy household was constantly chaotic. Colleen, who quit her day job, wrangled the younger kids up when their siblings were off at Hogwarts to teach them all the basics of math, english, and science, right out of the living room. This didn't keep them out of trouble, naturally, but raising ten young wizards wasn't exactly the easiest task. Lucy showed signs of magic around the age of two, which was typical for Murphy children; nothing too extravagant, just levitating toys around the house and making flowers bloom. As she got older and more emotional she was being told on an almost daily basis that she needed to control herself better, which proved to be difficult. She found herself picking up hobbies to keep herself occupied. She had been playing the piano since she was five, thanks to her grandmother, and after she had died, the Murphys inherited the piano, so the kids could play it whenever they wanted. Musically inclined, Lucy started singing and playing the violin as well, but that... didn't keep her entirely out of trouble. Her older brothers thought it was important that she learned how to play Quidditch at an early age, so she fostered a love for the sport before she could even really fly. They taught her well, but that didn't keep her from getting into a horrible accident at the age of ten that resulted in her essentially being banned from the sport so long as her mother could help it.
Lucy went to Hogwarts, like all her siblings before her, and found a group of friends quite easily. Of course, nothing ever could have prepared her for life at Hogwarts. Finally having a wand, being able to control her magic was something she'd been yearning for for ages - she knew she was good at it, but she never would have expected to be as talented as she was. Magic came easy for her, which only meant one thing... more time for trouble. She rarely took the rules at school into regard - "it's not as if I was off killing people!", she defends - and often caused quite a ruckus, whether it be with Mr. Filch, Peeves, Myrtle, some of the ghosts, Madam Pince, even some of the Professors... she took issues with being told what to do, so, you know, insisted on making things worse by breaking more rules. Although she's matured up quite a bit since then, you can still see a sparkle in her eye when an idea pops into her head. Sometimes she has the good sense to ignore her urges, other times not so much. As of late, Miss Murphy has been much more involved with her studies than she would prefer - but that's what she gets for taking all of the N.E.W.T. courses, isn't it? Just as those rotten purebloods (not her kind, obviously) are making waves within the wizarding community, she wants to start a revolution of her own, and damn anyone who tries to stop her.
