Name: Ambrosia Nicolette Barret
Age: Sixteen
Gender: Female
Year: Sixth
Face Claim: Alexis Bledel
Canon or Original? Original
Facial Properties: The first thing you’ll notice when meeting Ambrosia are her big, bright, beautiful sky blue eyes. When looking into them, you’ll immediately notice the secretive smile hidden within them- almost like she’s always laughing at an inside joke within her mind.
The next thing you’ll notice is the way her auburn hair frames her petite face. Normally kept down, Ambrosia’s hair is naturally straight with the slightest wave to it and her bangs are in the French-cut to bring attention to her aforementioned eyes. Ambrosia always brings an air of innocence to her. Her lips are naturally a light shade of pink and she almost always has the slightest blush on her face. She rarely wears any make-up, preferring to keep her face clean.
Physique: Ambrosia is often complimented on her tiny frame, standing at 5'2" with the most toned stomach you will ever see, and is commonly asked about how she keeps so slim. She always tells people that she can’t help it- she was born tiny and always has been. She eats as if she hasn’t seen food in days and yet her metabolism works in her favor so that she rarely gains any weight above 150 lbs.
She has swimmer’s muscles from participating in the sport on a weekly basis. Even when it’s winter-time, Ambrosia is out at the lake, practicing her diving and her strokes. She isn’t just a swimmer though, she often participates in Quidditch matches, but she hasn’t tried out for the Quidditch team at school… yet. Overall, Ambrosia is your typical sporty girl.
Wand Type: 12 1/4" Balsa base with a mermaid scale core
Wand Expertise: Best for Defense Against the Dark Arts
Patronus: A Sea Otter
Boggart: Ambrosia's boggart would turn out to be a thunderstorm. She completely hates the sound of thunder and can't stand lightning- it reminds her of the tornado she wet through as a small child.
Personality: Ambrosia is, overall, the sporty chick that you know and love. Well, maybe you don’t love her, but people tend to like her. She has this competitive nature about her that can only be satisfied through kicking butt. She loves the feeling of winning and can’t help but be pushy when in her competitive mode. Sometimes she scares off the guys she likes because of the way she gets during a game of Quidditch… Of course, she never gets physical in a fight because she's very much a pacifist. She'll only get a little rough during a sports match and that's only when it's allowed in the rules.
The next thing you need to know about Ambrosia is that she has an extremely gentle side. She loves taking care of animals and, when she’s not showing off her superior sport skills, she’s constantly trying to help the first years that feel as if they haven’t got any friends in the castle. Her gentle side is so opposite of her sporty side, that people who have seen both often ask if she’s bi-polar… She likes to smile and finds beauty in the most simple of things.
Not only is she gentle, but she is normally soft-spoken. She rarely speaks out during class, and only does so when she is positive that she knows the answer to a question. She rarely gets into fights with people (unless it’s during a sports match) and sometimes can’t even defend herself in an argument because she gets so flustered. She blushes often, especially when she’s talking to a cute boy, and can sometimes be seen as the ‘quiet’ one of her group of friends.
The real key to understanding Ambrosia’s personality is knowing that she thinks very little of her looks. She is not superficial in the least bit and can’t stand the girls and guys at Hogwarts that can think of nothing else. Vanity is something she loathes and she will call people out on it if they are obsessing over the way their hair is laying or the fact that their teeth aren’t perfectly white. Of course, this doesn’t mean that she doesn’t care about the way she looks, she just doesn’t put in copious amounts of effort unless it’s for a special occasion (say, going out on that first date with the cutest guy in class). She hates shopping more than anything and will only go with her friends if they basically force her. Especially when it's shopping for make-up and hair accessories... Ew! Also, she secretly enjoys trying on cute dresses, but she would never let her anyone know that- she tells everyone that she only wears the dresses because her mom forces her to.
Another thing to know about Ambrosia is that she very much hates being told what to do. She doesn't take well to authority and will most likely talk back to the person in question. However, she is never crude- she rarely ever uses filthy language, unless it's in her head, and she would never say anything like that to a teacher. At all.
Ambrosia is a hopeless romantic. Although she doesn't like to get dressed up or look fancy, she will be the first to admit that she enjoys reading a really good romance novel. She's constantly on the lookout for any guy that might be even the slightest chance of date-worthy, and she's not too shy to be the one to speak to them first. She wants life to be like a fairytale, even if she wouldn't admit that to anyone out loud...

History: Laurence Berret and Regina Preston met when they were very young- four years old, to be exact. The Berrets and Prestons had been family friends ever since the two could remember and Regina recalls how her family would always make fun of her and tell her that someday the pair would get married. She didn’t think this was so because she thought that Laurence was a ‘snot-faced brat of a bugger’. They went through Hogwarts together and stayed close friends, but Laurence was part of the Quidditch-playing group and Regina was more of the artsy kind of gal. One day during their sixth year, Laurence bumped into Regina, who was holding a can of blue paint (she had been painting the GO RAVENCLAW banner for the Quidditch Finals that year). Needless to say, it spilled over the front of her school uniform. Before she could get mad, Laurence asked Regina out on their first date and, after some begging on Laurence’s part, she agreed. When he brought her back to the painting in front of her common room that night, he kissed her gently and she melted. The feelings that had been pent up for years had finally been released! They began dating after that and ended up dating all the way through Hogwarts and several years after.
When Regina and Laurence finally decided to get married, they realized they had been dating for seven years. Plenty of time to get to know each other, huh? They married on the eighteenth of August and nine months later, Warren Berret was born to the happy couple. Ambrosia’s big brother was always a pain-in-the-butt; however her parents always loved him with everything they had. He turned out to be a fantastic person and an amazing older brother. This proved to be true when his little sister, Ambrosia Berret, was born on a bright spring day in London a year later. She was raised in the best way her parents knew how, even though she was an unexpected surprise…
At four years old, Ambrosia remembers being happy, playing outside in her sandbox that sat right next to her mother’s vegetable garden. Little did she know it would be the day that would change the way she felt about a lot of things… The day had started off bright and sunny, so her parents had decided to make the most of it; if one had been looking in on the scene, you would’ve seen Ambrosia and Warren playing, Regina planting and Laurence weeding. However, if you looked closer, you would notice the way the clouds began to darken and the lightning off in the distance. Ambrosia could tell something was wrong when her mother and father began to run toward their children, picking them and taking them to their cellar. When Ambrosia asked her mother what was going on, Regina simply answered that there was a tornado warning and that they would have to stay inside for a while until everything was alright again. Ambrosia nodded, but then remembered that she had left her beary outside in the sandbox. Darting out from her mother’s grip, she threw open the cellar doors and bolted out into the storm; grabbing her beary, she held him close and whispered to him to never let her forget him again. Suddenly, her beary was ripped out from her arms by the wind. Looking up, lightning blinded her momentarily as a huge clap of thunder sounded. She ran back to safety in the cellar and has been terrified of thunderstorms ever since.
Ambrosia and her brother Warren grew up in a very magical home. Their parents were always using magic and the two children knew that someday those powers would be something they inherited. At eleven, Warren received his letter of acceptance to Hogwarts, and Ambrosia remembers feeling so incredibly jealous that she didn’t speak to him for almost two days. Of course, then he explained to her that no one got their acceptance letter until they had turned eleven so she just had to wait another year- which she then accepted and began to speak to him again. When Ambrosia was accepted, she was so incredibly excited that she studied for weeks on different kinds of spells and potions so that she wouldn’t be behind in knowledge once she got there.
Sample Post: Ambrosia felt on top of the world on this bright, crisp morning. She had just gotten out of bed and had taken her shower, carefully picked out her clothes and had actually curled her hair slightly. Not much, just enough to give it a slight bounce. She made her way down the stairs to the common room, wondering if any of her friends were going to be there to walk with her to breakfast. No such luck, she thought, looking around at the empty room. Shrugging her shoulders, she continued on to the Great Hall.
On her way to the Great Hall, Ambrosia passed a few people she knew and nodded to each of them in a friendly manner. Some of them even nodded back, to her amusement. Reaching her destination, she slid into a seat at her table and filled her goblet with pumpkin juice. She couldn’t get enough of the stuff! Staying silent during the Headmaster’s morning speech, she wondered briefly when the mail would arrive. She caught her brother’s eye for a moment and they smiled at each other, waving slightly.
It seemed that most of her friends had skipped breakfast that morning to catch up on their ‘beauty sleep’. Poor souls, she thought to herself, if only they had listened to me when I had told them to go to bed last night instead of staying up to play that ridiculous game of Truth or Dare…
Rolling her eyes, Ambrosia buttered her piece of toast and bit into it, unaware that a very cute guy had been staring at her the entire time she had been thinking to herself. Looking up, she noticed the boy and locked eyes with him. He had beautiful olive green eyes and the thickest eyelashes she had ever seen! She looked away, blushing, finished her toast and excused herself from the table. Maybe she would see the guy again later, but for now, she had learning to do- and she wasn’t about to be late for Potions… again.
