Ian had been having a bit of trouble with one of the potions Severus Snape had assigned him to brew during his last advanced lesson, so he'd come into the library to find a recommended text from the Restricted Section. Book in hand, he was on his way to check it out when he spotted a familiar female figure hunched over a textbook and roll of parchment in the corner of the room. Changing direction, he walked toward her. Stopping by her side, he glanced to his left to see Madam Pince keeping a stern eye on him. Taking a piece of parchment out of his bag, he wrote one sentence on it and gently pressed it against the girl's arm.

I know. I'm sorry, I've been busy and you're always with with other people and projects and stuff. Sorry.

Well, I've been spending a lot some time with Lyle and Stefan. He lost his parents over the holidays. Stefan, I mean. So it's been rough. And then there's Benjamin, and you know what's... going on with that. I dunno. I've been trying to get through to him too, but it's not working. Anyway, sorry, I'm whining, but Er, ink splotch, sorry. But I've been spending some time with Benjamin too, and yeah... it's been hectic. Plus it's OWL year so the homework is piling up.

Anyway, you and Wendy are getting pretty close, aren't you? That must be nice.

Ben's been avoiding me. And Rose.

Wendy and I are getting close. I really like her.

He's been avoiding everyone. It's just... he wouldn't be this way if I hadn't left right in the middle of it. I mean, he'd be sad and all, but... but I left. You had already gone home, you couldn't really have done anything, but I was there and I should have done something. But I left.

She paused and took a breath, considering crossing it all out, but decided against it. If she kept that up, Ian would get suspicious and dig the truth out of her. It was easier to just... not fight him, sometimes. And she was too tired to do that anyway.

I'm glad you and Wendy are doing well, though. How long have you been seeing each other now?

You don't have to blame yourself. I told him I would come get him if he needed me to, and he promised he would tell me if he did. But he didn't.

I still never should have left. And it's gone on so long... I think we might have to tell someone if it gets worse or goes on much longer.

I guess so. Wendy and I haven't really talked about it.

Do you want to have lunch together tomorrow?

That doesn't really matter. Either way, leaving was the wrong thing to do.

Uhh... I dunno. I have to proof-read and do a good copy of my History of Magic essay and I still need to practice the stupid Patronus Charm. I still can't make the damn thing. Sorry.
