Stefan took the hand Jareth offered and sat up, folding his hands around his knees as he regained his breath; he nodded in response to the other boy's explanation about why he'd done it so well, and paused for a moment, watching him, before he let out a laugh. God, it felt like he hadn't laughed in months. "Well, I appreciate the compliment on my form," he chuckled, smiling and pushing himself to stand up again as Professor Dumbledore walked past and commented on their performance.
He blushed a little and bit his lip in concentration. Focus on the aim. Well, he certainly felt less bad about hitting Jareth now. Stefan smiled and took his stance again. "Okay, my turn.
" He stood in front of Jareth and swung his wand forward, focusing on hitting him straight in the chest, swiping his wand up and trying to steady it at the end of the swing. " Stupefy!" [/blockquote][/blockquote]

"It's fine," Emme assured her immediately, chuckling a little and stepping back so that if she fell, she'd do so directly over the cushions behind her. "You're supposed to knock me out, so.
" Taking a stance, Emme took a deep breath and braced herself, and--nothing. Her body swayed backwards a little, and she blinked up at Lilah while the other girl apologized and said she'd try again. Nodding, Emme braced herself for the next spell and it hit her right under her ribs. She gasped a little and fell backwards, landing on the cushions, not too hard, thankfully, and quickly adjusted her skirt again. " Good one!" she laughed, blushing a little and standing back up. Gnawing at her lower lip, she looked at Lilah and lifted her wand. " I'll make sure you fall on the cushions," she assured her, and waited for Lilah to brace herself before flicking her wand diagonally at her. " Stupefy!"[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Jareth nodded along as Stefan talked and then laughed. Jareth smiled brightly. "I like it when people laugh with me and not at me,"
he said, more to himself than Stefan. He wasn't always capable of keeping inner thoughts to himself and, conversely, sometimes only thought things he meant to say out loud. Then Professor Dumbledore came over and told him he was doing a good job. His big, starry eyes got even bigger, if that were really even possible at this point. He stared after the professor for a moment before breaking out into a huge smile and a small, squeaky laugh jumped passed his lips. "Thank you professor," he said, fingers fidgeting with the end of his tie as Dumbledore moved onto the next pair of students. "That was exciting!" When Stefan was back on two feet, he walked back to his spot and turned to face him. This time, when he cast the spell it hit Jareth in the middle of his stomach, knocking him over, as well as all of the air out of him. Oof! Well, that was certainly better aimed!" he said with a wheezy laugh. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

The spell hit Jareth straight in the stomach and knocked him over, back onto the mattress, and Stefan raised his eyebrows a little, pleased with himself, and quickly went over, holding out a hand to help him up. "You okay?" he asked him, smiling a little as he tugged him up into a sitting position and then up to his feet. "The worst thing is the spell is supposed to render people unconscious,
" he chuckled quietly, shaking his head a little. They weren't even doing half the job by making each other trip over their feet. Usually he should have gotten a charm down in at least the second try, but he supposed because it was a hex rather than a charm, that he was having trouble with it. He wasn't very good at wanting to hurt people. Or even knocking them out. [/blockquote][/blockquote]
