Dear Diary,
Mothers are so very stupid.
I received this in the owl post this morning. “An early Christmas gift from Reuben”, she wrote in the note. It took me a while to remember who this “Reuben” fellow was and why he was supposed to “matter” to me, and then I recalled that he is, of course, my biological father. I knew that I would be receiving presents from him, as I am his only daughter and he has fourteen years to make up for, but I had hoped for something better than a diary. Perhaps a new broomstick, or if he insists on being a Muggle, a new car at the very least. Well, I shall just have to hint at it when I meet him. I do wonder if mother has told him about us yet. Some Muggles are too weak to stomach the idea of magic. Were he not so wealthy, I’d be disgusted at the prospect of having him for a father. I researched him a bit after mother told the truth; apparently, he’s part-owner of the biggest fitness centre in Falmouth. He was only a fitness trainer when mother met him. He and his two sons moved in with mother temporarily in our house after Mathias left, but supposedly they’re looking for something bigger and grander. I do hope they find something with at least four bedrooms so that I don’t have to room with my sister. Honestly, if I have to hear her complain about mother and Mathias getting divorced one more time, I’ll cut out her tongue and choke her with it.
I met a rather intriguing fellow not too long ago. His name is Benjamin Burke. Yes, the same Benjamin Burke Imogen fancies so very much. I don’t see why she fancies him, to be quite honest. Her taste has always been strange. But, I’ll keep him in mind. He’s clearly intelligent; he might be useful to me someday.
I close this entry, Diary, by providing what shall henceforth be referred to only as “The List”; this diary is enchanted and protected, yes, but so, supposedly, was Imogen’s, yet I was able to break into it with considerable ease, and should something happen to this book, I wouldn’t want this list to get out there. I know what it means; that is what’s important.

Dear Diary,
I do wish my sister wasn’t quite so whiny. Honestly, every time she opens her mouth, all I want to do put a Permanent Silencing Charm on her. Unfortunately, I don’t believe those are taught in Hogwarts. Perhaps I’ll ask Regulus. He must have some knowledge of illegal spells.
That, or I someone could just kill her, and then all of our troubles would be over. Alas, I fear that will never come to be. A girl can dream, can’t she? Although, she seems to be quite adept at pissing off the wrong people, if her diary is any indication. Maybe – hopefully – one day she’ll go far enough that someone will kill her. I’ll have to see if I can, somehow, watch. Really, though! She tried to talk to me today to “see how I’m feeling”. I’m assuming this about the divorce and this Reuben fellow. For some reason she doesn’t seem to believe me when I tell her I really couldn’t care less.
Serena Lovelace is quite the whiny little chit, as well. Although, I had a terrific time playing with her head not too long ago. It was before I got the diary, of course; she was being her usual suck-up self, and I told her I would “teach her” how to snog so that she could better please her future husband. Honestly, the girl is so ridiculously gullible, it’s a wonder she doesn’t believe in that stork nonsense that Jezebel does.
The List needn’t be updated today; it is the same as it was before.

Dear Diary,
Regulus Black has asked me to the Yule Ball. Apparently, he has something else up his sleeve, but he refuses to tell me what it is. He does promise that I’ll like it, and people will be hurt by it. Secrets are no fun; I wish he would just tell me.
