Name:LaceyCharlie Rowan Collins
Age: Sixteen
Gender: Female
Year: Sixth
Face Claim:Ellen Page
Canon or Original? Original
Facial Properties:
Pretty- (adj), pleasing by delicacy or grace; having conventionally accepted elements of beauty. This word shouldn’t describe Charlie at all, really, by any stretch of the word but, there you have it- the one word that people normally use to describe the girl. The way Charlie sees it, she is far from the description of that word; her face is very wide at the forehead, narrowing at her jawline and pointing at her chin, almost like an upside-down heart. Her cheekbones are high and puffy and her eyes are almost too large for her face, being one of the first things people tend to notice about her. Freckles line the bridge of her nose and, while some people might say they make her seem delicate, she thinks they make her look like some kind of rouge animal… Her teeth are her only redeeming trait- perfectly lined, blindingly white and she’s never had to have them corrected her entire life. Her ears have almost an elfish quality to them and tend to make her look ridiculous in hats, which is why you’ll never see her wearing them.
Physique:
Charlie is a wholesome-looking girl and by that, I mean that she looks very average. Her body is thin, but she doesn’t have defined abs or anything of the nature. She doesn’t have flab in most places (even if she thinks she does) and she is very proportionate when it comes to arm and leg length. She is a resounding five feet, six inches tall and chooses to never wear high heels (mostly because she just isn’t comfortable in them). Her breasts are a barely registerable B-cup, and that’s a fact she is not proud of. Her hair is a light chocolate brown color and falls in layers to just below her collarbone. That’s basically everything about Charlie’s ‘physique’… She’s pretty much your average-looking teenaged girl. Minus a lot of acne…
Wand Type: 12 ¼ inches, African Blackwood base, Chimera Scale core
Wand Expertise: Very rare and very powerful- superb for all spells, but mostly used for the Dark Arts
Patronus: Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake
Boggart: Her parents’ deaths
Personality:
SOCIALLY AWKWARD
If you’re reading this thinking, oh Charlie is awkward so she must not have any friends, then you’re wrong. Way wrong. Actually, she has quite a few friends- most of them were really close until her parents died, and then she began pushing them away. Basically, Charlie is socially awkward in the aspect that she says things without thinking first; things like too-soon jokes (sometimes on purpose, depending on her mood) or blurting out things and then just leaving without fixing it. For instance, she was talking to her Mum’s co-worker once and he had told her that his wife had just passed away; she then proceeded to tell a joke about death. He thought it was rude and gave her an offended look and instead of apologizing, she just walked away. Even though she knew she had been the one at fault. She doesn’t mean for things to come out the way they do, it just happens.REBELLIOUS
Charlie has been full of angst ever since her parents passed away. Not only does she show it towards her grandmother, but she shows it to teachers now, too. She doesn’t even try to listen when an authority figure tells her to do something- she just brushes them off and goes back to what she was doing. If that results in a detention, then so be it. She dresses in ways the school would rather she not- low cut tops, short skirts- and doesn’t give a rat’s arse about the things she isn’t supposed to do. She acts out and plays pranks on people she doesn’t even know and can sometimes get really violent- although that’s only happened once or twice. She especially doesn’t like for anyone- anyone
VULNERABLE
Although Charlie may seem like she has everything under control and always has, she really doesn’t. She pretends she does so people will leave her alone for the most part, but underneath her tough exterior, Charlie is actually a very sad, scared little girl just crying out for help. After her parents passed, Charlie developed bulimia and, although she’s never told anyone about it, she is scared for herself. The only problem is she can’t stop doing it. She thinks she’ll be fine until she eats one dinner roll too many and then she’s back in the bathroom again. Every time she passes a mirror, she can’t help but stare at all the things that are wrong with her that day. Of course, that usually results in people thinking she’s obsessed with her looks- and although that’s true, it isn’t in the way they think.
PUSHY AND SARCASTIC
Sarcasm is Charlie’s second language. She can’t help but speak her mind whenever someone says something stupid, no matter who it is that said it. That’s where she gets into trouble because she can’t refrain from saying a sarcastic comment if the person deserves it, even if it’s just under her breath. She is also extremely pushy. She knows what she wants and she goes for it- no matter what the price may be.
SPOILED
When her parents were still around, Charlie was their world. After what happened to her twin brother, her parents never let her out of their sight. All she had to do was bat an eyelash towards them and they would come running, wondering what was wrong and what they could do to fix it for her. Even though they are gone now, and she doesn’t want anything from her grandmother, Charlie still gets her way. With boys, with school, with friends- you name it. It seems that Charlie is just one of the lucky few that get everything handed to them.

Likes:
+ Muggles: Mum would never talk about them and it drove me crazy because she would never answer any of my questions; even though I knew she lived with muggles when she was young. Dad never said anything about them either- but it’s not like he did it on purpose. He probably just didn’t know anything about them, considering he was a pureblooded squib... Also, grandmother is cynical about them and wants me to have nothing to do with them; therefore, I’m learning everything there is to know about the fascinating creatures who look like us, but aren’t us.
+ Pissing off Grandmother: Um, that’s for obvious reasons. See number one of my dislikes if you have any more questions regarding this little hobby of mine.
+ Mermaids: They’re fascinating creatures, really. Beautiful voices underneath the water that suck you in so they can devour you in a matter of seconds; disgusting, horrid voices above water that make you cringe (and, in my belief, could possibly make you go deaf)… They’re not beautiful, as muggles make them out to be and they’re quite dangerous. But fascinating. Of course, I would never try to get too close to one, but I would love to see one from a distance.
+ Meat: Oh, come on- not in that sense, you dirty-minded wanker. I’m a total carnivore, any kind of meat I can really sink my teeth into makes me salivate with joy. Steaks are a classic though; I like mine medium rare.
+ Photography: It’s a way to express myself. I’m not good at writing, or music, or even arts- but taking a picture comes like second nature to me; with or without a magical camera. When I take pictures, everything just seems to… work.
+ Cats: I do really like cats. I can’t help it- they just make me happy. My cat is always there when I need him to talk to. His name is Archer and he’s a Siberian. I love him with all my heart and he’s basically the only real friend I have.
+ Winter: So I like snow; big deal. It’s nice to walk around in and well, I also really like the cold. It gives my body a shock and lets me know that I can actually still feel something. So yeah, I like winter.
+ Her Locket: The locket I wear around my neck has a picture of my Mum and Dad holding me as a baby. She gave it to me when I was four and I’ve worn it ever since. I don’t ever take it off- even if you can’t always see it, it’s there.
+ Boys and Alcohol: Really? That combination is priceless. I don’t even think I need to explain.
+ Reading to Children: Alright, this one is personal. Every Christmas, Mum and I would go to her ward at St. Mungo’s and read to the children she helped. It was sort of a tradition, so in remembrance of her, I’ll keep going- this will be the first year without her…
Dislikes:
– Grandmother: Because, really? Who just waltzes into someone’s life like that and immediately think that they own that person now. It’s just annoying.
– Banshees: I heard one screaming the night that may parents died. I didn’t realize it fully until later that I had heard one, but I definitely did. I never want to hear one again…
– Broccoli: They look like tiny trees… And they’re green. Plus, they have no flavor. I wouldn’t even classify them as part of a food group at all.
– Giggly/Fake Girls: Do I really have to explain why? I mean, just look at them- just the sight of them is enough to make you sick.
– Being Rejected: Rarely does this ever occur, but when it does I accept it as a challenge. Plain and simple.
– Throwing Up: But I do it anyway. It makes me feel like I have some kind of control, so I do it. I know it may not seem logical, but I don’t question it so it isn’t your place to either.
– Vampires: A lot of girls my age fantasize about being involved with a vampire- but I think it’s just sick and wrong. Why would you want to be with someone who’s going to suck all of your blood out of your system? That’s not romantic, that’s just plain nasty.
– Death: Do I really have to explain that one…?
– Socks: They’re annoying. The only reason I wear them is because it’s part of the uniform- otherwise, off they go! Oh man, they make me cringe, especially if the guy tries to keep them on during sex. It’s like, what are you doing? Oh, and on that matter: feet are disgusting. Period. End of story.
– Dogs: They’re way too hyper and I just can’t deal with it. Seriously, it just doesn’t work.
History:
BEFORE LACEY
Marietta Putnam was a witch. No one had suspected a thing until one evening in late September, the day Mari received a letter from an owl at her family’s window. It was from a school of witchcraft and wizardry called Salem Academy. Mari was frightened beyond all belief. Now, the thing you have to understand is that Mari lived in Salem, Massachusetts and to be a witch was a major sin… She refused to let her parent’s read the letter but they ended up doing so anyway while their daughter was sleeping. They kicked her out of the house immediately, telling her that she was lucky they hadn’t burned her at the stake, screaming at her to rot in hell. Mari was devastated, broken; she was only eleven years old and didn’t know who to turn to. Running about the town, Mari stumbled across a small cottage that looked to be abandoned- she didn’t notice the small flood of light peeking out through the window to the right of the door. Cold and alone, Mari opened the door and immediately went upstairs to find a nice, warm bed to sleep in. She climbed in, passing out until morning where she opened her eyes to find a pretty woman who was probably in her late twenties. She told Mari that she didn’t have a husband or any children and had found her the other night but had decided to let her sleep because she looked exhausted. Mari was grateful and learned that the woman’s name was Felicia Lichtenstein. And she was also a witch. Felicia basically adopted little Mari and sent her off to Salem Academy to learn the things Felicia had had to learn on her own. Time flew by and soon little Mari was eighteen years old…
A full-grown adult now, Mari had graduated from Salem Academy with top marks in all of her classes. She had never settled for less than the best and was now itching to explore the world. Felicia understood and let Mari do her own thing- after all, she was an adult. Mari visited places all around the world, places such as France and Italy before finally landing in London. She had always wanted to see the incredible city and was excited to actually be exploring it first-hand! A few weeks went by and Mari came across a magician, called Elliot Collins, doing an act in a cart on the side of the street. He was so good that she was sure he was a real wizard- but when she confronted him about it, he had said it was all illusions and tricks. She then went on to explain that magic was, in fact, real. The magician was floored and wanted to know everything she knew. They went to get a coffee and well, the rest is history. They fell in love and eloped- although Mari knew Felicia would not be happy… Felicia was very cynical about muggles. Not to say she was a bad person, because that was quite the opposite- she just didn’t like what muggles did when they found out that magic wasn’t a figment of their imaginations. However, Felicia loved her daughter too much to say anything but a congratulations when she found out about the pair, but warned her daughter to be careful about who she went talking about magic to.
THEN CAME LACEY
As soon as Marietta and Elliot had gotten married, they were already thinking about children. How many, what they would look like, what they would teach them. Mari made sure that Elliot knew that she didn’t want her children knowing anything about muggle culture and Elliot agreed because of how bad his past had been. They came up with the story that Elliot was actually from a wizarding family, but he was a Squib- that was why he never used his powers, he couldn’t. A few months after their happy wedding day, Mari and Elliot found out they were pregnant- with fraternal twins! Oh, life couldn’t have gotten any sweeter for the couple and they decided on the names Lacey and Charlie within the first three months of their pregnancy. However, disaster struck on the night of the twenty-second of April; Mari had lost one of the babies. She was rushed to St. Mungo’s and the doctors told her that it was a miracle the other twin had survived at all. It was a great loss for the pair, but they came out with their heads held high- after all, their baby girl was still inside Mari’s tummy, safe and sound. They weren’t ever going to let anything happen to her again…
Four months later and out popped Lacey Rowan Collins! For the first few years of her life, Lacey was happy as a clam in her mother’s arms, constantly being held and cradled whenever she felt the need to yell for them. Even at a young age, Lacey knew just how important it was to have people at your beck and call… The baby girl showed no sign of magical abilities until she was six years old and her parents were so proud of her, they bought her a pony of her very own to congratulate her! Riding horses became an escape for her then, a place she could go where no one could tell her what to do (not that her parents did much anyway). Eventually, Lacey was accepted into Hogwarts and everything was going just swimmingly until one fateful day…
THE ACCIDENT
** Told from Lacey’s POV during the St. Mungo’s attack
"I was at home that day, having been called away for the weekend by my parents, who apparently had a surprise they wanted to talk to me about. However, Mum and Dad were away at the Hospital- Mum was working, but I’m not really sure what Dad was doing there… I was told that they would be home around six o’clock that evening; time passed, and the clock hands soon hit six. I couldn’t wait to see them! It had been a while since we had last spoken and I was very curious as to what could possibly be so important to talk about that they had called me away from school for an entire weekend. I sat on our couch, curled in front of the fire, waiting for them to arrive. But an hour passed, and another hour passed and before I knew it, it was nearing eight-thirty. Something wasn’t right… As soon as I thought that, Evelyn Watherford visited the house- she was a close friend of my Mum’s, so I knew that she would be able to give me some answers. My gut hurt, and everything around me was starting to spin as I let her into the house to chat. We made our way into the living room where I took up my previous spot on the couch, indicating to her with my hand to have a seat and make herself comfortable. She shook her head slightly; the woman looked extremely ill and it was making me increasingly uneasy. What had happened to my Mum and Dad, I wanted to know. She turned away from me, I heard a sharp intake of breath and she let out a shaky, ‘You’re parents are dead, Lacey.’
Everything was ringing. My mind went blank- surely this was some kind of practical joke? I laughed half-heartedly and replied, ‘You can’t be serious.’ She turned back to face me and I could tell it was no joke, for tears were streaming down her face. I noted that she was a very pretty crier, not many people could say that about themselves. For a moment, the only sound heard in the room was our heavy, irratic breathing and the sound of ringing in my ears. Things began to spin out of control and I whispered, ‘What happened?’ I at least had a right to know, didn’t I? She sighed and finally took a seat in the chair across from me. ’There was an attack at the Hospital today,’ she began, looking almost uncertain whether she should be telling me or not. ’Your Mum and Dad were there to make sure everything was alright with the baby-‘ ’The what?!’ I cut her off. Mum had been pregnant?! ’Oh, yes,’ she replied softly, ’I had forgotten they were going to tell you this weekend. I’m sorry you had to find out from my, Lacey. Your parents were so excited to tell you…’ She began to cry more and, once she had composed herself, she continued. ’There were dozens of them, Lacey, and you have to understand that your parents- your wonderful, brave parents- did not go down without a fight.” After that, I could only stare into the darkness that was slowly enveloping the room. Evelyn, after a moment, offered to stay with me for the night, but I harshly declined, lashing out at Evelyn unfairly, as if it were her fault that my parents’ lives were now lost. She left with one last sad, pitying look at me and told me that my grandmother would be moving in within the next couple of days. My parents had left me under her care in case anything happened to them, so she was my legal caretaker- although I barely knew the woman. Evelyn also told me that my grandmother would be adopting me. I sat there, in the darkness for what seemed like years; numb, alone, shocked and void of emotion. I ended up staring and staring until I fell asleep on the couch, waking up to finding out it was not all just a dream. Everything that had happened was reality and I was all alone for the first time in my life…”
NEW LIFE
Immediately upon returning to school, Lacey became Charlie- taking the name after her late twin brother. She was different, that was for sure. The accident had changed her life, and not in a good way; she was now full of angst, talked back to her grandmother (which she justified with a, ‘she’s not even my real grandmother!’) and began to do increasingly worse in her schoolwork. She began smoking and drinking; sometimes even sleeping around with guys she had just barely met. Her grandmother tried and tried to get her to just talk to her about things, but Charlie despised the woman. She acted like she owned her when she hadn’t even entered into her life until her parents passed- who even did that?! Everything Charlie does now is darker, edgier, more severe. Charlie started to become a girl that was constantly down on herself inside her mind but pretended like everything was cool on the outside; that she had everything under her control. She started throwing up after meals to make herself feel better. Instead of just being the socially awkward girl that says things at the wrong time without meaning to, she became the girl who said things at the wrong time just to say them. But the crazy thing is, she likes who she is. And, although she has no idea where her new life is taking her, she knows that wherever it may be, she’s definitely along for the ride.
