{ A B O U T . T H E . C H A R A C T E R } Name: amycus carrow Age: sixteen Gender: male Year: sixth Face Claim: matt lanter
Canon or Original? canon
Facial Properties: Amycus has an averagely roundish face and a pale skin tone, like the rest of his family. His hair is naturally brown and he usually keeps it shortish, down to the top of the back of his neck and with some bangs in the front. It's airy and has a windswept look to it, which he kind of likes, and he rarely brushes it. Amycus's eyes are light blue with a gray tinge to them and are quite stunning, standing out in contrast to his peakish face and darkly colored hair. His nose is straight and set in exactly the center of his face, so that if you were to cut it in half, it would be exactly the same on both sides. The eyes are shielded from the sun by a pair of slightly bushy eyebrows that are by default a curve over the eyes. Straight teeth are hidden by an almost permanent rather full line of lips, a common facial expression for Amycus, who rarely smiles, but when he does, his smile is somewhat lopsided. His chin is neither prominent nor not, and while his whole face is normal, his jaw is square-set. Physique: Of medium height, and a little built, Amycus never really stood out in a crowd. Nor was his intention ever to do so. Never one for sports, Amycus does not have a well-built body, but his muscles are well developed anyway; a trait that he was born with, because he does and never did anything to improve his fitness. One of his most annoying habits is biting his nails, a very girly habit, in his sister's opinion, and so he keeps them trimmed so short that his fingers end up feeling way more exposed than they should. His hands are quite small, for a sixteen year old, but his fingers slim, long, and bony. Amycus is usually dressed in dark tones, brown and black shades, and likes to wear long sleeves and long pants. However, his outfits stay within the ranges of wizarding clothing, as he despises anything muggle; a family trait.
Wand Type: willow, 11 and a half inches, unicorn hair, flexible Wand Expertise: great for defense against the dark arts Patronus: a crow Boggart: he hasn’t ever faced one, and if asked, would not know his biggest fear Personality: BLENDING IN; Amycus Carrow was always in the shadow of his older sister, Alecto. However, he's never minded that, in fact, he encourages it. Amycus hates any type of special attention given to him, and is always trying his best to blend in with the crowd. Amycus is usually unsure of what to say or do, yet despite that, whenever he gets the chance to prove himself to somebody he cares to impress, he basks in it. Although he admits that he is good at some things, Amycus has confidence issues, and is always thinking that he isn't good in pretty much anything, and therefore doesn't like to call attention to himself. Whether it be in classes, where, if he knows the answer he will keep quiet, or if the teacher calls on him, he'll answer with one word only, or if he has a question, he'll either keep to himself and try to solve it, or ask the person sitting closest to him, in the quietest manner possible. Also, Amycus has only dated few and select people. This is because even if he ever faniced somebody, he could never muster the courage to ask her out, or confess his feelings. Amycus is really afraid of rejection, and therefore will usually wait for the girl to make the first move. His choice in girls is usually straying to the bolder, more confident type of females, the ones that make him feel good about himself, which is a rarity. YOUNGER BROTHER; Growing up pretty much alone in the world, the only person that he truly respects and looks up to in the world is Alecto. After the fiasco with his mother when he was thirteen, Alecto became the closest person he had, even if she never really cared for him as much. Having Alecto as his older sister shaped Amycus's personality on various different levels. For one, her many achievements and amazing magical skills made him shyer and weaker himself, because he always thought that he could never be as powerful or smart as her, and therefore never tried. Amycus, also, trusts her judgement blindly, and will do anything she asks, however insane it may be; Alecto herself might be called somewhat insane, and therefore, Amycus definitely should not be following in her tracks.
BLACK MARKET;/ Because he was born in a non-wealthy family (not poor, but not rich, either), Amycus always enjoyed the chance to acquire something expensive or new. An old habit of his that he has cultivated over the years is exerimenting with various dark objects around the house, or something, and then selling them. An easy way to get money. His parents never monitored these doings, and his sister encouraged them, her being an expert at inventing dark spells, and such. For Amycus, life has very few values or morality, and he is not concious of what his 'wrong'doings might do to others surrounding him. To him, and the rest of his family, one has to live however one can, and it would never occur to him to imagine another person's feelings, or the consequences of his actions.
MUSICAL SOUL; Ever since he was very little, Amycus's favorite pastime when he was alone, which was almost all of the time, was playing the piano. His family had an old pianoforte in which he played the entire day, sometimes, when his parents were off on death eater business, and his sister was torturing the neighbours, or something. He likes to compose melodies, and keeps them in a stash in his room, still. Although his piano-playing wasn't exactly secret, it wasn't a talent which he usually shared with the rest of people, and he was very personal about the songs that he composed. It is probably one of the major things that he truly likes and cares about, and feels protective of. It has happened, in the past, that somebody in his dorm found the stacks of music, and enquired on them; Amycus cursed him to the hospital wing, and put the music under a protective enchantment.
Likes: + proving himself + making money + music + playing the piano + being alone + feeling superior + experimenting with dark magic + revenge + change + designer stuff Dislikes: – disrespect – too much attention – depending on others – rules – people telling him what to do – being made fun of – smarter people – being taken care of – muggles – being treated like a baby
History: In the middle of the night, on October 13th, Amycus Carrow was brought to the world by Wynona and Carlisle Carrow. As a baby, Amycus was very much neglected by his parents, and most of the time as well by his year-old sister, Alecto. He grew up alone, and learned to cope and make the best of what he had on his own. The first years of his life he loved his parents, as a human being, it was a natural feeling, but as he grew up and began to understand better of the world, that love soon diminished to almost indifference. The Carrows were neer at home, and when they were, they were either too badly wounded to go out of their room, or too drunk to notice their two children. Amycus was indifferent to the lack of care from his parents, and as he very rarely stepped out of the house, and even less visited other houses, didn't think there was anything wrong with that kind of behaviour, so he lived with it. At the age of five, when he already knew how to walk and talk, and already looked up to his skilled, beautiful older sister more than anybody, Amycus began to comprehend a little more the lives of their parents through their conversations and the few things that Alecto told him. They killed for fun, muggles, non-magical people, because they didn't deserve to live, as he had always been taught. He saw nothing wrong with it. In fact, he was almost proud of his parents for behaving so, and his sister, too, had killed a few times with their parents' wands. Death was not uncommon in the life of the Carrows.
From a very early age, Amycus felt the difference in power of his sister and himself. He saw what, at the age of eight, his sister was already able to do with, and without, a wand. He was never capable. His magic refused to show until he turned nine. His father was no longer around, and although Amycus was never told why, it didn't make much of a difference to him, as he rarely ever saw his father, anyway. Amycus spoke very little, and when he did, it was a short reply. He was used to having no company, and too many people in a room made him uncomfortable. He was used to people ignoring him, so too much attention made him shy. He was used to having to care for himself, and the slightest act of concern or affection put him on his guard.
It was only when Alecto was eleven years old, and went off to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, according to his mother 'great school, crazy headmaster', that Amycus's home life changed. His mother became...closer to him. He could see that she was trying to talk to him, take care of him, educate him, and be more like a real mother, but it was too late. That was not the only change he perceived in her, though; the death of her husband had shocked her, that much was obvious, and she now very rarely left the house, and never drank or had parties with loud, boisterous people in dark cloaks until the very hours of the morning. Wynona became a quieter person, and Amycus would sometimes wander into a room where she sat on a chair, thinking. Sometimes he even saw tears leave her eyes. He said nothing. He never did. Alecto did not visit for Christmas, nor did she ever send him a letter. For the first time, Amycus felt betrayed.
He was just eleven when he killed his first person. He had never felt such hate for a human being in his entire life as he had had for that boy. Amycus could never really explain why he cared so much for his older sister. She was not the loving kind, and yet, he admired her eternally, and she was the closest thing he had, at the age of eleven, come to love. So when Amycus was sitting by his window that night, absentmindedly watching their neighbours having a campfire, and that boy, whose name he didn't even know, nodded towards his house and said, '-father got anniquilated two years ago, let's just hope the crazy bitch is next,', Amycus lost control. For the first time, he was completely aware that he was willing the flames to rise and engulf the eighteen-year-old until his skin was burning crisp, and he was dead. He felt nothing. Why should he? His parents killed, and that was normal, his sister, too, and whatever she did was something to follow.
Amycus got his Hogwarts acceptance letter that year, and he went without any percievable excitement nor sadness. His school life was pretty uneventful, he made some friends that did not care for lots of attention, either, and he worked through his classes with passing grades, without calling any attention to himself, either. When he was in his third year at Hogwarts, he got called to the headmaster's office and was told by the dumb old man that his mother was dead. Also killed. Amycus zoned out and did not care for the reason why. His sister was there, and that's all he needed. From then on, they became a little closer, but besides that, nothing else changed.
