{ A B O U T . T H E . C H A R A C T E R } Name: Lucas Neeson Age: 16 Gender: male Year: 6th Face Claim: Chord Overstreet
Canon or Original? original Facial Properties: Luke is a perfect mesh of his two parents. He has his mother's large eyes but they are the shame pale green shade as his father's. He has his father's blonde hair that he keeps at a managable length since his father disapproves of shaggy, long hair. One trait that he does share with his older brother is that Luke does take his time getting ready. He always wants to look good, but if his hair or clothes get messed up during the day, unlike Aiden, Luke won't care and will let his shirt get wrinkled of his hair get touseled. Luckily for him, however, his blonde hair is very straight and easily tamed. He can pretty much just run a comb through his hair after getting out of the shower and it'll stay in place and cooperate. His nose is rather pointed, but his face is round. Luke's jaw is long and rounded, which he shares with his older brother, and ends with a slightly protruding chin. One of Luke's best features is his smile. Both he and his brother have deep lines that show when they smile. Luke's teeth are the slightest bit larger than average size, and when he smiles, his mouth is almost always slightly or completely open. It does look pretty dorky, but when he smiles it does show off all his pearly whites. Physique: Luke definitely isn't someone who you would classify as bulky or ripped, but he does have an athletic build with broad shoulders and a slightly toned chest. Growing up, he was very lanky with limbs that were too big for his body. He has since grown into his arms and legs and he's quiet a good runner. He doesn't particularly work out (he prefers to spend his time playing guitar), but he does enjoy playing sports non-competitively and just for fun. Luke isn't very strong and couldn't really judge how well he'd do in a physical fight, mostly because he's never been in one and tries to avoid them at all cost. He stands at about average height for his age, being just under six feet, and has very good posture. When he isn't in his school uniform, Luke usually dresses in a pair of worn jeans, a t-shirt and a hoodie if it's cold out. He doesn't like to wear the expensive clothes his parents ship him because they're too stiff and uncomfortable. Wand Type: Swishy, 10 inches, Willow with Unicorn Tail Hair core. Wand Expertise: Healing charms. Patronus: Samoyed. Boggart: Drowning.
Personality: Most people would classify Luke as your typical "good guy". As a whole, he's a very friendly and out going person. He loves trying new things even if he makes an idiot out of himself because it's rather hard for him to get embarrassed, in that sense. He's full of energy and is the kind of guy who randomly break into song or dance around just to amuse himself. Some people find this annoying though, and his hyperactive tendencies can get on people's nerves if they're more on the mellow/uptight side. Luke likes being the center of attention (as long as it's in a positive way) and making people laugh. He has a need to make people smile that stems from the interactions he had with his mum when he was younger. Whenever any of his friends have had a bad day or are upset about something, Luke is always the first one on the scene, pulling them up from their seat and getting them outside to do something to take their mind off of things. That's really essentially how his personality works, and it's also his defense mechanism.
Instead of facing a problem or confrontation head on, Luke will try not to think about it, change the subject, or go off to do something to take his mind off things. He'd extremely non-confrontational and goes to great lengths to avoid any situations where someone is getting mad or yelling at him. He does this because he grew up with his older brother always yelling at him and bullying him (because their father, Donovan, did just that to Aiden). Luke doesn't want to fall into that pattern or pick up that family trait. He'd rather runaway from the whole situation and do something fun instead. When Luke is confronted, by his brother or someone else, he'll immediately back down and get very quiet and meek. He'll tuck his hands into his pockets, hunched up his shoulders and keep his eyes trained onto the ground until it's over. This is only true, however, when he is being personally attacked. His friends being picked on it another matter entirely.
The other side of Luke's demeanor can be seen when one of his friends gets into trouble or is being harrassed. In that case, Luke will jump to their defense, even if his hands are shaking. First he'll try to mediate the situation and pull his friend off, but if that doesn't work, then Luke will stand up to the opponent and defend his friend. Luckily, this doesn't happen to often because he is really good at talking his way out of a situation (one personality trait he does seem to share with his older brother, on some level). He's never been in a fist fight and that's a very good thing because Luke seriously doubts he could hold his own in a fight. He isn't weak, but he's a very non-violent person and doesn't think he would have the guts to actually take someone on. However, when it comes down to it, Luke would protect any of his friends with his life.
Despite popular belief, Luke can be serious when the occasion calls for it. He's better to try to talk to one on one when it comes to serious matters or if one of his friends has a problem. The trick is to get him alone and somewhere where there isn't a lot of people around or distractions. Luke's been through a lot in his life, and while he'd like to have someone to be able to talk to it about and vent, he hasn't found someone he's comfortable enough around to be able to do that with. So, to compensate, Luke tries to be that person for his friends if they need him, but they have to seek him out because he isn't the most attentive person and will probably not be able to figure out what's wrong on his own. When someone wants or needs to talk, Luke can be a very good listener. That along with being good at cheering people up makes Luke a comfortable person to open up to if you need to talk about a problem you have, or to just vent to and have someone listen, give you advice and then make you smile.
The other type of situation in which Luke is rather fearless is when it comes to trying new things. If someone suggest he should try jumping from the astronomy tower and landing on a trampoline below, chances are he'd go for it. A major reason as to why he'd do something as stupid as that is because he's also very easily influenced. Luke tends to be pretty gullible and could be talked into doing almost anything. When it comes to girls, Luke is no Casanova. A majority of the instances when Luke has felt completely and utterly humiliated have been when he's made an idiot of himself in front of a girl he fancies. Around his friends that are girls, Luke is fine and is his same charming and funny self. But if he's around a girl he likes, he gets very nervous and antsy. Unlike his older brother, Luke doesn't posses the power to "woo" girls. He's never had a girlfriend because all the girls he tends to fall for just see him as the "funny nice guy", and nice guys tend to always finish last. History: Luke was born and raised up most of his childhood in a wizarding city outside Paris. His parents, Lucillia and Donovan, were both pureblood wizards who went to Beauxbatons. Their parents were part of the wealthy, high-class wizards in the community and so it only seemed natural for them to betroth their two children. So, the summer after their graduated from Beauxbatons, they were married, much to both their disdain. Lucillia and Donovan had never really known each other during school, so they got married without knowing much about one another. Lucillia was incredibly beautiful with long black hair that fell in soft, loose curls to her lower back. She had deep, ocean blue eyes, pale cream-colored skin, and pink, full lips. Once Donovan saw Lucillia, he instantly fell in love, or rather in lust, with her. Lucillia, on the other hand, had no feelings for Donovan and did not want to be with him what so ever, but she made the best out of the situation in very untrustworthy ways.
Lucillia played into Donovan's little desires. She manipulated her husband into thinking she was head over hills for him and only him, but that wasn't the case. While Donovan was out working for the French section of the Ministry of Magic, Lucillia was actually having an affair with his boss, Jacques. Donovan was completely oblivious to what was going on right in his own house, even with the neighbors whispering about the strange man who came to their estate while he was away, until the inevitable happened. Tried of the facade she had to keep putting on for her husband, Lucillia started acting out and treating Donovan horribly. Every night would end with a fight and Donovan was constantly kicked out of the bedroom and made to sleep in the guest room. This had been going on for three months when the news came.
Lucillia was two months pregnant. Donovan was shocked and hurt, but Lucillia just called him an idiot for not realizing it. It was then that Donovan finally broke. He beat his wife and told her he was never letting her out of his sight again. Donovan put Lucillia under house arrest, keeping her under sedation with various potions while he was at work and keeping her in his sight while he was home. Lucillia tried to fight back, but in the end, Donovan had taken her wand and kept it with him at all times and she simply didn't have the strength to compete with her husband. After finally giving up, it was much easier for Donovan to keep her in check.
Finally, their first son, Aiden, was born. He had his mother's looks, and his biological father's eyes. He looked absolutely nothing like Donovan, who had blonde hair and green eyes. Donovan tried to ignore the fact that Aiden wasn't his son, but he looked more and more like his mother and the subject of her affair as he grew up. Even though Donovan tried to make things back to normal, or rather the fake bliss he and Lucillia's relationship started out as, it wasn't possible. Lucillia had become a broken woman and taken up drinking, leaving Aiden to be raised by hired help. However, during one of her drunken nights, apparently the two of them had gotten on good terms, if just for a night, because a couple of months later, Lucillia was pregnant again. She managed to hold off drinking during her pregnancy and gave birth to her second son, Lucas. Luke looked like the perfect mesh of both Donovan and Lucillia since he had Donovan and Lucillia's golden blonde hair and Donovan's pale green eyes.
Luke was hated by his older brother for as long as he could remember. The older Luke became, the more Donovan showed his blatant favoritism toward him and treated Aiden unfairly. Donovan spoiled and treated Luke very well while he barely even acknowledged Aiden's existance. Aiden began picking on Luke all the time to the point where he would be crying and grew to be nervous of the mere presence of his older brother. He'd try to hide his problems behind Lucillia in that he would stick close to her side because Aiden wouldn't dare bully him in front of their mother. However, the more Lucillia drank, the more oblivious she was to the tormented relationship her two children had with one another and the added stress further drove apart the two boys. While Luke was obedient and meek, Aiden grew more and more rebellious against his father until one night, when he was seven years old, Donovan snapped.
That was when Aiden's weekly beatings began. Lucillia was too weak to try to stop Donovan-- she'd learned that eight years ago -- or too drunk to do anything about it and Luke was too young to do anything. He was afraid that Donovan would start treating him like how he treated Aiden, or that Aiden would take it out on him. Luke still regrets not sticking up for his older brother to this day, even if he did never treat him fairly, and it haunts him to this day. Luke may not have been the direct recipient of the physical abuse, but it damaged him, nonetheless. One night when Aiden had turned 10 and Luke was 9, they found out that Donovan wasn't really Aiden's father, which Donovan had shouted at him over and over. It was also that night that Lucillia got the bravery to try to stand up to Donovan again and told him Aiden's real father was none other than his boss. The next week, Donovan moved the family from France, trying to escape their dysfunctional past. They moved to a larger estate in London, Donovan tried to please his wife and lavish her with whatever she wanted, but he couldn't mend the past and she was miserable, as were Luke and Aiden. Lucillia wanted to get a divorce, but Donovan wouldn't hear of it and reminded her that a divorced woman was greatly frowned upon in the wealthy wizarding society.
Lucillia couldn't escape, but Luke and Aiden were luckier. When Aiden turned 11, he got his acceptance letter from Hogwarts. When he went off to school, Luke finally got one, pretty much peaceful year. He didn't have to worry about being left alone in a room with Aiden anymore, but he still had to deal with his dysfunctional parents on his own. It was during this time that Luke became very attached to his mother and would stay by her side, be she sober or in a drunken stupor. He'd try his best to cheer her up by telling her stories or making up rather stupid jokes. For the most part, it seemed to work and Luke devoted most of his time to trying to make her smile while Donovan became more and more devoted to his work. But then the time came for Luke to join his older brother at Hogwarts and he hated that he had to leave his home and his mother and be rejoined with Aiden.
